negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's an awesome game with great potential sadly the game will crash at certain point or glitch and you can't progress anymore and the devs haven't updated or fixed bugs in a while
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →18 hours into it, workers will not deliver coal to forge so blacksmith advancement is inaccessible. game over.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game keeps crashing. tried several again in the 35h tha i played. a shame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great potential ! Wait ! It's abandoned.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good colony survival sim. With a few quality of life patches it could even rival Frostpunk. The 1 issue I had with it was the different clans hating each other. They don't like to live in the same houses as each other, which is fine, but if there was an option to make them live in separate houses I could not find it. They do like performing recreation activities together though, and that is good. Because in the real world the best cure for racism has been proven to be exposure therapy.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I took a calculated risk buying Floodland, fully aware of the mixed reviews and the recurring warnings about crashes and poor optimization. In hindsight, I should have done a much better job reading between the lines. This is clearly a Frostpunk-inspired city builder, just swapped snow for water, and sadly, polish for good intentions. Yes, the game is poorly optimized. That part is true, but oddly enough, it wasn’t the deal-breaker. I was running it on the lowest settings, staring at graphics…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I have a love/hate relationship with this game. You might see me put more hours into the game after I post this review because it scratches an itch I have for these types of games. It certainly brings a lot to the table as far as top down resource/strategy games go. I will start with the positives first.. Pros: This game is gorgeous and has a beautiful art style and soundtrack. The music really sucks you into the game and time seems to fly by very fast whilst you are playing. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game that was 95% off - certainly a decent purchase. Now, if the game was at full price and I happened to buy it - I most likely would've been a lot more disappointed (and given a thumbs down). Floodlands is an interesting, yet odd, mix of Anno 1800, tiny touch of Against the Storm, and a lot like Frostpunk. It is essentially a city-buidler survivor ensuring a proper balance of population and sustenance. Though the post-apacolyptic setting is interesting at first, the game's shine wore…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably one of the most boring games in ""colony simulator" genre. Many convenient things other games have are simply absent here, the interaction between clans is also simply terribly implemented, it is easier to settle them on different islands than to influence their relationships. The game complains that a resident has a long way to go from home to work, but they do not give you the opportunity to do anything about it, you cannot manually relocate it. In "surviving the aftermath"…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is really nice and great but the problem is that its abandonware and the devs refuse to even update it anymore, still has a lit of technical issues, bugs and performs pretty poorely on higher systems, can't recommend unless the devs will one day [doubt it] accidentally remember it and start working on it again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all it must be understood that this game is "not for everyone" and this IS A HARD GAME to grasp and understand. In other games you put stuff down and your done mostly...Well in this one were you put stuff matter's. Example: There is the "workplace"..."the house those workers live in"..."and the distance between" AND this is only that problem. IF you put the workers house next to their workplace they work more but then they may not be close enough to recreation as recreation has a area…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs after a month of saying "The game is not abandoned" left and abandoned the game without finishing it, or giving any explanation. Cash and dash
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm currently replaying survival strategy games, and while playing Frostpunk I was reminded of Floodland - which made me realise that I've never left a positive review for it. I played Floodland at launch and the fact that it came back to me while playing Frostpunk says a lot. I thoroughly enjoyed it and really appreciate the developer's unique style and well-executed mechanics. I really hope to see more games from them in the future! Highly recommended to fans of survival strategy games.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love this game. The sound and music are awesome, and the graphics and story are simply fantastic. However, in its current state, the game is unplayable due to frequent crashes. It just needs a bit of engine polishing. One good patch focusing on stability and performance, with no new content required, would make me very happy. I've been visiting the Steam page for a whole year, eagerly waiting for an update. Once these issues are fixed, I know this game will be an absolute gem.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It just crashes all the time. There's a lot of weird (cool! but weird) mechanics that don't quite make sense and aren't balanced very well. This has potential, but it needs work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tl;dr Worth it, but wait til a solid sale. Its currently 3.99 as of writing. This game has been on my wishlist for a long while, but always been hesitant due to the bad reviews. When it finally went on sale I gave it a go and I was pleasantly surprised. The core game is quite solid and the concept is interesting like -Interesting environment and ruin exploration -Only way to expand is to find others and new islands for materials The problems come out further down the line. The politics…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like this game had a lot of potential but it just isn't well balanced. Constant micro-management of workers is necessary to avoid maxing out the storage amount of any resource and wasting labor. It's often extremely unclear what tech is prerequisite to another, and that led to me wasting a lot of research points unlocking things which I couldn't build until I'd unlocked two or three other technologies. It's also possible early game to completely trap yourself if you use the freely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean, The mechanics seem decent enough but I got stuck in the freaking tutorial? Not enough wood around, I had to deconstruct the kitchen to even be able to build the study and then the quests tell me to go tier 2 forager hut but I have no access to a wood producing building. I could go for the wood producer but then I have no reserch to do the quests, the closest building allowing the relics for research are minimally out of reach. I do not care enough to wait days to check if the wood…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. Its lore is great and immersive and its easy to understand. Nice graphics and the development and upgrading system is clear and interesting. I like the societal issues you have to deal with. I have had no problems with running it and it plays very well. Recommend it to all who like settlement games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, the only time I'd recommend this game is if you played Frostpunk and really, REALLY needed to play a game that went in the exact opposite direction in terms of tone and mechanics. I was pretty impressed to see that in a world face ecological catastrophe (but only an aesthetic one,) every faction you can play approaches the situation with hope and a spirit of community. That optimism is charming, but it isn't enough to save the game from its flaws. There are people for whom…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has/had potential. Clan relations stuff is just added nonsense - separate clans on to different islands and ignore it for the most part. Storyline and exploration seems like fun, except the game randomly crashes on saves, certain event triggers, and sometimes for no apparent reason at all. If you turn autosave off, it seems to go a bit longer between crashes, but then you lose whatever progress you've made since your last save instead of just 10 minutes. Shame. Seems like it could get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While there are bad performance, crashes and frustration UI elements, overall, this is an interesting game that tries to innovate and expand on the post-apocalypse builder genre. It has many interesting systems, and it's the first builder I have played that really feels like your scavenging the ruins of the past while building a new society. If you have a little bit of patience, there's good stuff in here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is honestly fantastic but I can't recommend buying it. I had zero crashes for my first 13 or so hours, I thought maybe my hardware just worked well with the game compared to other reviewers... Nope. As soon as I built the turbine my game started crashing whenever saving the game. 13 hours and ~200 population later, I can't progress without constant crashes. It's a shame because this game is legitimately really good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a nice game( not brilliant),but after a while it becomes boooooring as hell !
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is below average. Repetitive after the first few hours and unnecessarily complex clan system.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game gets too much hate for a punishing group management system - it is a excellent survival management game with gorgeous graphics and stellar music. Is the group mechanic punishing - yes - *but when have people ever gotten along as well in a apocalypse?*. Buy and try - you're missing out otherwise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is quite similar to Surviving the Aftermath. Sadly it is way worse than that game. (And i did not have a good oppinion of Surviving the Aftermath neither!) It has a lot of "visual effects" that actually do not add anything to the game beside draining resources. In Surviving the Aftermath you had a map where you could build your stuff and a world map, where districts were present and where you could loot, build outposts and the like. Here there is no world map, instead there are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →kinda feel like Surviving the Aftermath and Frostpunk, but unique enough to be fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good question -Dungeons & Dragons (the game) -Dispatches by Micheal Herr -The Lord of the Rings -Three Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion by Francis Bacon - Floodland by The Sisters of Mercy
unlabelledView post →Unfortunately, this game constantly crashes and is not stable, especially at higher populations. Seeing it hasn't been updated since 2023, I'm guessing it won't be fixed. What a shame, there's a lot to like about this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very interesting concept, but, unfortunately - the game balance seems to be completely broken in almost every aspect, clans relationships especially.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is broken with many bugs preventing progression of the main story line. In fact, the game is extremely frustrating with many things happening with no explanation. For example, one needs e-chips which can be made at resaerch facilities. But no one will collect them because the inventory for them have maxed out. Except there is no icon for e-chips on the inventory bar, let alone e-chips in inventory. This prevents me from exploring important buildings on the main story line. There is no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was going to give a positive review since game looked like made few steps more than your usual indie city builder games, but man, after maybe 4 hours game got so boring and grindy and content becomes dull and repetitive I had to force myself to finish it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay is fine, but it's also abandonware. It's very poorly optimized, and it randomly crashes. It also can potentially softlock your game if you don't unlock Scholars' Debate early on. It has potential, but because it's clear no attention is given to this game anymore, it's just a chore to play & I have to save every 15 minutes in fear of a crash (Because the autosave feature also apparently can crash your game), and I'm only playing it so I can finish the story.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't complete the game, it keeps crashing even when I exit it crashes. It is unplayable until this issue is resolved. Other than that problem the game is enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i stopped playing this game because it kept crashing. but i came back to the game hoping they would have fixed the issue but they havent the game still crashes on auto and manual saves.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has severely awful limitations on the social "tech tree". Boils down to choices like "Improve X stat and damage Y stat, or vice versa." or "Do you want a Nazi colony or a Communist colony?" Far too many senseless dichotomies. Also yet another post apocalypse game with the "hardened survivors who can't walk more than 100ft to work or the colony dies" trope. Also, also the Devs bailed, and there is no modding scene to fix things.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had this game on my wish list for months. It seemed like a game I was going to enjoy so very much. And then I found out it works a lot like those old phone games like clash of clans or Oregon trail. Now, games like that are fine, but the market is over saturated. And asking people to spend money on them is insane, since there's almost nothing new being provided and the chances are you already own a game just like this. Now, as far as the good things of this game, I do like the faction…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has an interesting premise, decent gameplay, and fantastic art style and music. However, aside from the occasional crashes when saving or exiting, what really puts me off is the Clan system. Instead of exploring an apocalyptic world, I have to worry about people's feeling. I get that you can't make everyone happy, but one wrong choice or law can lead to unrest that feels impossible to recover from. I've tried, but I just don't find this game enjoyable. It might become more fun as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Broken. Stuck on most popular bug on forum. Nothing more to do, I don't want to start again. Unplayable and totally not worth even 4 Euro.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game concept is great, but the bugs are greater. If someone is taking the torch to this kind of game or continuing this game, i'll support them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crash Crash Crash, this silly game crashes at the worst time. Also it sets you up to fail. Sent out an expedition, set up a camp. Found 70 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ people, couldnt build a pier no where and get them off the building. Epic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fail
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: 1. Music. I was truly blown away by how good the music is. 2. Art style. Reminiscent of Disco Elysium without being derivative. 3. Addictive gameplay and concept. Cons: 1. Crashing issues during auto-saves. 2. Floodland's biggest problem is doesn't communicate much with the player about what it wants you to do. I had to really commit to putting in several hours before I started to understand what it wanted from me. Overall this game deserves so much more love than it's gotten. And…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not terrible, some nice gameplay and ideas. But there's an awful lot of time spent either staring at the screen waiting or speeding the game up to get what you need. Which in some ways isn't a bad thing since it takes a good while to get enough inhabitants to not have to constantly move them from one job to another, so you're clicking and clicking while the population stays the same...a lot of micromanagement. So you spin your wheels in place a lot without much reward. The worst part though is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is boring and buggy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So it's going to be a no from me. Purchased and played at launch, and have gone back to it several times afterwards in the hope things have been improved; but no. Nothing from the development team for a long time, bugs that were fixed are still present. At around the midgame it renders as unplayable. I thought graphically the game was very strong, I really enjoyed the 'fog of war' effect from unknown places on the map with towering debris arising from the mist, and not just a black patches.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That time I cosplayed for a client's video game and they up and made me an in-game character with the update. I've rarely be as elated in all my life. #voiceactor #actorlife #cosplay #Floodland
unlabelledView post →I was waiting to see whether I would feel the pull to return to this game before writing a review and honestly I do not because this game feels more like a chore than deriving any sense of fun. I do enjoy resource-management sim games and was intrigued by the different philosophies of each faction and challenging choice-based research tree in a post-apocalyptic world, but this game goes too far in the need to manage resources, rival factions, penalties, etc without providing quality of life…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfinished, and buggy. Gave up after a while because of constant crashes and just me sitting there waiting for research points to add up so I could research how to collect things like rubble? Huh? Interesting concept, graphics and music but the game is not made very well.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's always crashing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everything is a total slog. There's never enough people or resources. Quests have timelines which are impossible to meet based on their trigger requirements, unless the player already knows they will occur and has stored the resources. The RNG can (and often does) create scenarios in which expeditions to find more resources are difficult to unlock due to the starting placements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to enjoy this nice idea for a game, but the amount of opportunities to soft locking yourself out of progression was just too much for it to be playable... I spent more time trying to find out ways to fix the game than I spend playing it. I don't understand why would someone program the search function to not allow you to do searches if your stock is full... but then have progressing tied to you searching building that it won't allow you to search. It's a pity, because it was a nice…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really, really want to love this game. The theme, the setting, the style is all superb. I even like the spinning plates challenge of it all but I am sick, absolutely sick of my buildings not working because "heap full", especially water treatment plants. Right next to a large storage which is fully loaded with carriers, there is a path between the two, there is nothing being built, no searches, no reason why the water can't be taken two tiles from the source to the storage but it sits there…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVED playing this. I don't really understand a lot of the criticisms here. I play a lot of this genre and I really enjoyed it. I really like the angle with the different clans and managing the politics that it brings. Honestly, the ones which are not alike just keep them apart :) Did the campaign playthrough in about 20hrs all in all which was great. Not sure about replayability now i've done that but we'll see.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the main story in about 15 hours. It was fairly fun, but like many others have pointed out the game is not well optimized and definitely struggles about halfway through the main story. I never had a crash, even while auto saving but the game was definitely operating in the 5-10 fps by the end of the main story. This performance drop definitely makes it so i don't want to keep playing in "endless" mode and keep building up my city. The story was pretty good and detailed, some fun…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →performance issues, crashes most of the time, and saves gone. awful game to be honest.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You think it's interesting, it has a cool concept, but the longer you play the more you feel tired of the repetition.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do really like the game but frequent crashes and a big loss of progress really put a dampener on things, I've tried putting the settings on low but even then it still crashes every few in game days
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looked like it was going to be good, but it barely uses the resources on on my PC yet acts like it's playing on a potato, maybe they'll optimise it, oh wait, no they won't, they've abandoned it!
