Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes is a turn-based strategy game set in a fantasy world full of magic and mythical creatures. The game features a single player campaign as well as multiplayer modes. In the game, players must build their kingdom, recruit heroes, gather resources, and lead their armies to defeat rival factions and monsters. One of the standout features of the game is the character customization. Players have the ability to create and customize their own heroes by changing…

The gameplay itself is fun - shame it's unstable as hell, crashes often, and is full of game-breaking bugs that cause the game to lock up. To make matters worse, whenever this game encounters a fatal error (which is every 10 hours or so), it causes almost all of the other applications running on my computer to crash as well - which is super annoying if you're the kind of gamer who likes to listen to streams or podcasts in the background while you game. Honestly it's shocking that the base…

Crashes frequently from the mid-game on. Other than that and the lack of mods, I like it a lot. Sadly I don't think it is ever getting fixed.

DO NOT BUY! GAME IS BROKEN! I really wish I could recommend this game. It is a lot of fun. It scratches an itch for a fantasy version of Civilization. The issue is that it is plagued with game-ending bugs. It'll crash during game-play. And even worse is it will crash if you try loading a save. Devs obviously don't update this game anymore, understandably with it being over 10 years old. Still, I wish they'd patch it. It would honestly be in my top 10 if it worked.

Simply the greatest 4x game ever made. Anything that "betters" this will upgrade it only in terms of technological capabilities. No 4x before or since Fallen Enchantress has ever been so ambitious, and done so well. AOW4 is the closest we've got, but everything AOW4 has, FE already had, and then some. Highly underrated, underappreciated, and misunderstood.

Ten years after its release, FE:LH remains my favorite fantasy 4x by far. Yes, the game does have its flaws, including several bugs (partially related to its increasing age), not to mention a too-passive AI at times. However, no other game I've played has quite the same blend of civilization-building, RPG elements, customizable units, magic, lore, fun combat system, and atmosphere/immersion as this one. Oh, and you can also create your own custom rulers and factions, by the way -- a…

A worthy Master of Magic successor with powerful troop customization. I've read accounts of this game's troubled past - apparently the first versions were an unplayable mess. Thankfully, this version (which is technically Elemental: War of Magic: Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes) has taken careful notes and worked to make a game which brings back memories of original Master of Magic. Starting from just a single city, grow your empire in a harsh and hostile world against other…

So, for everyone who have lags and crashes. First thing, delete or rename SDNXLFonts.dll in the main directory of the game, it's antialising fonts and breaks a lot, most of crashes are related to it. I also play on linux, I use Proton Experimental, and seen many people advice to use older proton, like 3 or 8 versions. And put PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% in the launch options, for me works even without it, but adviceable. So far I play on 2k display with best graphics and have no issues or…

Ah... this game... I haven't played it for awhile, but I got bored looking for my next game to play, and decided to write a review. I consider FE:LH to be a sort of rough-cut gem. If you take the format/formula of the game itself, it's one of my favorite all-time. It's essentially a fantasy 4x + RPG, in some ways similar to Age of Wonders: you found cities to expand your empire, recruit heroes to lead your armies and take on quests, and go for one of several types of victories. Things I…

A decent entry in the "MoMlike" genre - that is, games which are descendants of Master of Magic. It has a stronger focus on the RPG elements then most, and a little bit of Heroes of Might and Magic mixed in, for flavor. However I do find that it plays a little slowly compared to some of its contemporaries, which is saying something as MoM was already damnably slow especially in its early turns. I personally prefer something with a little more "oomph" like Age of Wonders or Warlock over this,…

I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I…

I can see why this game is liked by plenty of people. There are powerful and quite diverse spells there, ability to equip your character and heroes with a lot of stuff, level them in different ways. Exploration is interesting enough and so on. But the UI and controls are awful. Spell descriptions are sometimes misleading. The game crashes periodically. A lot of stuff depends on RNG in a bad way. I really wanted to understand this game and to enjoy it. And it is possible that back in the day…

Short and sweet: this is an oldie but goodie, and I really appreciate the diversity, city building, and flexibility to play the way I want to. There's something here for anyone that's a fan of 4x and/or turn based strategy games: with a HEAVY draw you in for "just one more turn" mentality. It's a very unique approach. The artwork is holding up surprisingly well for 2024. This truly is a gem. Get it and enjoy something unique, yet delightfully familiar! What a treat! CHEERS!

Unlike Civilization beside battling with other fractions your main character builds a personal army which includes chooseable champions, incorporated monsters, and customizeable city derived warriors to clear your land by fighting monsters. Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes scratches a very specific itch — it's the fantasy 4X/RPG hybrid I didn't know I needed, blending the empire-building of Civilization with the hero progression and tactical battles of Heroes of Might and Magic. The unit customization system alone is worth the price of admission; being able to kit out squads with specific weapons, armor, and abilities from your research tree makes every campaign feel distinct. The early-to-mid game exploration is genuinely…

This is an incredibly underrated game. It's a Civilization style game with Heroes but the resource management is the MOST INTERESTING thing I've ever seen. In Civilization access to horses gives you infinite horses, in this you gain a horse resource that builds up to be used for cavalry units. This is extra important for heavy armor.

On paper Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes has a lot of promise: it's Civilization style 4x (resources and diplomacy) together with Heroes of Might and Magic's RPG style heroes with levels, spells and equipments and army based tactical battles. But in all these areas FE:LH fails to meet the these games' standards. The diplomacy options are very lacking, and the untis and battles are fairly janky. There is a unit editor which is a nice touch, but other than that the game is definitely dated,…

I need to play more but first impression is it's Civilization on steroids. The are "quests" and a welcome tutorial. A lot of civ's mechanics are at work but they've added "monsters." I really hope the monsters didn't kill all the roaming barbarians but I suspect they did. If this game is available for cheap, and you like strategy, get it. It has a tutorial which mostly helps and is how I know it's a Civ successor.

8/10 - My first 4X strategy game and great introduction to the genre. For a genre that generally seems intimidating Fallen Enchantress does a great job at teaching the player how to doggy paddle so to speak. Art feel a little outdated (because it is), soundtrack is pleasant but nothing to write home about, where FE shines is in it versatility, faction creation and simplistic game play. Would highly recommend as a introductory to the genre.

Each Faction brings different things to the table and makes things quite enjoyable(Like Age of Wonders). It IS turn-based as well, which is my favorite aspect. Fantastically unique and INTERESTING RPG-slash-turn-based-strategy game! I've never played something like this, a game that mixes Civilization style town and army building with an RPG "scenario" that acts like a turn-based party-based CRPG, it's really something. Features plenty of RPG options and development mechanics, a fascinating and DEEP lore (in the Elemental world) and fun combat and civilization "overseeing" to tie it all together. This isn't a perfect or great game - but it is a good game and very enjoyable, especially as a solo-only player. Some Civ-type element blended with lite role playing and turn-based combat. Finding a solid starting location for your first city - with plenty of surrounding area and resources to expand into - is key. The diplomacy portion of the game is a little weak, but if you focus on signing treaties and regularly trading, you'll boost how the other "players" feel about you. The game goes…

It's development had a troubled history, but this game (Legendary Heroes) is a great blend of tactical battles (somewhat similar to Banner Saga) and strategic empire building (similar to my personal favorite, civilization franchise). I recommend this game to players who want to develop specific characters with special abilities but not *be* the character itself. You rule the empire, and your sovereign is just one mighty hero among them.
