60 of 163 · most liked firstIt's got a lot of spirit, but has some issues in places. With the right approach, it's a pretty fun rogue-like, but at the moment, it's also easy to run into some annoying experiences. This review is probably overly thorough, so just read the last paragraph if you're not really stuck on whether to buy it or not. Moving through the 3 dimensional environment through connected 2 dimensional planes takes a bit of getting used to, can result in some unintuitive movement (usually involving jumping…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fallback is a challenging Rogue-lite where timing and ennemy pattern learning is key. You'll get frustrated, but you will go back because you know you can make it to the end. And that's why it's a good Rogue-lite! The skill tree offers enough different playstyles and you will quickly find your own set of favorite upgrades. The 2.5D is gorgeous and the camera movement are really giving a nice visual dimension to the game. At only 9.99€ it's a steal! It's hard to find anything at this starting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disclaimer : I got the game for free as a participant of the IRL playtests. Long story short : it's a very good little indie game. It was a long ride for it to be finally published but the final result, altough still a bit rough, is very fun to play with. On top of that, the dev team listen to all the feedback. The good : + Good graphic / sfx, it's a nice change from the classical "fantasy 2D pixel art" you will often find for this kind of game. + Very nice ambiance with fallout, borderland…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the visuals, love the combat, love the layouts of the levels, love the roguelike progression. However, I HATE the Foundry. Literally *everything* sets you on fire and there is zero counter for it. Dodge to get out of range - you're on fire. Hit something, it has a fire AOE - you're on fire. Stun the enemy, it can still fire it's half screen wide flamethrower - you're on fire. Literally 5 enemies later, you're dead. Got a couple of hours of fun out of it, but the sheer irritation of that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only an hour into this game, and I'm hooked. The perspective shifting is really unique and looks stunning. I still have a lot to explore and learn, but for this price this is a must buy if you enjoy any type of side-scrolling game. It is rogue-like, so expect to die, often. However very quickly you expand your power and learn the mechanics making each run more enjoyable. I anticipate to get about 5-10 hours of enjoyment from this game in it's current state. Looking forward to playing more…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite me being bad at this game, I keep firing it up for a few runs. Fallback is a small gem, tough and enjoyable at the same time. Every run is very different thanks to the numerous abilites, heroes profile you can choose from, and procedural level generation. If you feel overwhelmed by the unforgiving nature of the game, you can spend hard-earned points (depicted by prisoners you freed) on a skill tree to boost your future characters. All in all, Fallback is a great game that will keep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey, wait a minute, this game is actually good? Thats a quote from my friend after he watched me play this game for a little. Its not surprising though because if you only play the game once, the first hour is absolute dookie. Your character is ridiculously slow, weak, squishy, and talentless. Only after an hour of playing will you have amassed the needed in game currency to upgrade your base stats (and they affect all classes). After this point, the game quickly begins picking up pace and by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, a nice mix of platforming and rogue-like. I only have two complaints, firstly no map. There should be some kind of mapping to tell you the places you've been as I feel like I'm spending a lot of time just backtracking trough empty rooms trying to find that boss room I went by like 15 mins ago. Secondly it's the lack of info on skills and upgrades. Have you ever played a game in which you had values like crit chance or additional dmg per upgrade clearly written and you taught to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review was commissioned by [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/33779114-pcgameit/]the PCGame!t Curator, updated daily! Fallback is a new roguelike set in a post-apocalyptic era, where the surface of the earth has been affected by a giant ecological disaster that forced mankind underground. In this subterranean world, humanity succeeded in inventing machines that could do most of the dirty work, such as mining and establishing living conditions. But over time, the machines gained…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing in so many unique ways that I am not sure I can describe well. It is kind of the perfect rogue like for me, but somehow I suck at it. I have never finished a run. Granted I do play on hard, but not only have I never finished a run, I have never even gotten close in fact. I died in the first room in the foundry (final level) every time so far. Here is why this game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good and perfect for me: 1. It is 100% skill based. Realistically you won't be able to, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice roguelite with enough variation to not make it feel repetitive. If you are like me and like to complete your games, this game allows you to unlock every achievement even in easy which is really fun and allowed me to do long runs when I had the time. The only achievement I had to grind was the 100 deaths. Fallback feels like a hidden gem, really hope more people get to experience this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an action roguelike with permanent progression. I would rather play an entire game than spend hours grinding my way up to the point where you let me play the actual game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine the most annoying half-assed roguelite-platformer that you can. Where randomization tries to replace actual content and every ounce of the interface is there to annoy you. Oh and it's made in unity so you can be sure it's so unoptimized it won't run well on any configuration that isn't a warhorse. Yeah, that's the thing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good rogue like. The art is amazing. I found the 2.5D interesting. I only have 2 hours from now but I have to admit that it is very addictive. I love the upgrade diversity. Each run is quite unique. Beware, the game is a bit challenging. You will have to learn patterns if you want to defeat bosses. But it's a great pleasure to kill enemies without loosing a single healthpoint. The game is really smooth: No input lags or framerate drops. It sounds to be a small dev team that made a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice atmosphere and gameplay :) Seems to be the perfect game for my holiday week !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Looking forward to the UPRISING update and new content. 10/10 action roguelike players should buy EDIT : after playing the uprising update : classes are much better now and a lot more diverse than what they used to be. it's been very nice to play fallback again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful graphics and well made - However if you aren't a very skilled gamer you will probably not finish this game because it becomes so repetitive after a few hours that you'll want to give up. Yes it has replayability but it relies on it to a fault. It desperately needs difficulty options to make it easier for some players i.e. retry at boss fights or start at a chosen district. More districts, each with a different look&feel, enemies, simple puzzles etc, would be great as it could improve…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good rogue like ! Love it! ! Graphics are amazing and gameplay is super cool !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fallback game so real, I’ll forget I even had conversations with you.
unlabelledView post →Found it refreshing ^_^ This game at it´s current price is a steal imO - even more so, if you get it at a decent sale. But hurry, price might go up after XMas due to a recent huge update .. Get it while it lasts
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An awesome small game with so much fun !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommending, because it really *is* fun, but *SUPER* conditional recommendation. So the game is clearly not really made for MKB, but it does let you change the controls, so it's perfectly playable; there is the annoying factor that in menu screens it still requires using the arrow keys (why?) and for some reason it likes to hit the task bar a lot (having duel monitors makes this easy to fix, but if you don't... gl.. it doesn't pause when you tab out so RIP..). For me, this is an obnoxious…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hi people, To begin, I'll say the bad reviews are right for the constructive one not those saying it's ♥♥♥♥ whithout any other words. This game as potential but it is very blunt. There is no combo, no impressive skill and at least farming money to upgrade the stats tree is easily done. If you are interested in numbers, not even 20% of those who bought the game have gone to the second level. And it's legit. The game feel boring quite quickly since there is nothing to really reward you. As I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took me 6 hours to beat the game, not 100% but I got to the end screen. At first I couldn't let go of the starter guy, but then I realized there's only so much he can do, so might as well explore other options. I ended up trying the rest of em in succession, since i was managing to get enough levels per run for the next guy. I had loads of fun with all characters but one (basic attacks were too slow for my taste), though they all had unique feeling to em so it was interesting trying them all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+interesting and beautiful level design +fluid movement and combat (even without controller) Great game and "the most 3D you can get out of a 2D platformer" (quote from another review)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Picked this game up on the Games Made in France sale because it had the Roguelike tag and boy am I impressed! Fantastic gameplay, super fun and has a good flow. Love the level design and the combat. The world is cool and the story is neat. Progression is awesome. So far 10/10 in my book. There are occasional bugs with animations and it's a bit frustrating when your roll timing is screwed up because the game pauses you for a split second when you land a hit, but it's consistent and intended…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rogue-likes are not usually the kind of games I play. But I'm really enjoying this game. Every run you can try a new build and new characters. There are a lot of perk you can choose from to adapt your abilities to your playstyle. The bosses patterns are well thought, you'll have a hard time beating the game, but it's so addictive. It's a small game but it's a great game ! Recommend !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice game, You can feel the the stuffy atmosphere of the underground universe ! The gameplay has a good feedback each time you dogde and hit. BUT DAMN ITS HARD ;D Music and sound effects reinforce immersion, Good Work !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm game for #FallBack -- with a Great-Spangled Fritillary on clover
unlabelledView post →Has potential, with typical Unreal 4 engine problems. Attack animations that utilize a wind-up have homing features, meaning you need to dodge when they tell you to dodge, not make enough distance between the enemy to "dodge" it's attack radius. Several bosses utilize homing attacks, such as The Guardian, and they'll easily beat you if you don't know that in advance. The maps are semi-randomized, but you'll quickly see that the randomization doesn't have enough variety to justify the feature.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very fun game and I played it for over twenty hours in just four days.During that time I played every character to clear all levels. Here are my feelings and suggestions. The sapper's skill design is simple but effective. He's my favorite character.I used him to overcome all my difficulties and obtain all my achievements. Seismologist's secondary attack can only repel enemies and do no damage to them. This makes it less practical. Her ultimate skill's damage is low but fortunately his…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Briefly, it is a difficult level-platformer. The storyline serves through conversations which are needed to be read (no background narrator reading the text). Lovely cyberpunk setting. 3,99$ is a solid price for this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 so far so good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good. 9/10 *animation of character good *fighting combo good, each game randomly stacked the chip to enhance the combat. *each class have it own strength *map will reset after death even it's repeated but u wont feel bored *each map had 2 bosses. *total of 4 maps hope dev can update more map and classes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the game. Gameplay is tight and the atmosphere is great. The 2.5d aesthetik works prett well in conveying a confusing underground bunker with its twisting corridors. I just wished there were more leves and tiles. Thumbs up from me. Despite the game being quite short, its very unique and well executed
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has been a while since I've reviewed anything. Mostly because I just haven't found anything I enjoy enough to review in a positive light but that's unimportant. What I am here to do, today is to shill Fallback to you. Now I'm not going to abuse your trust, there isn't a lot here. It's a good, quality game with a good visual aesthetic, a good game gimmick and it's something you can breeze through in half an hour if you're really good at it. It's not a game I feel you Need to speed run but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful game. You can tell a lot of work has gone into this one. It did get somewhat boring in only a few short hours though. I only had three issues. 1. It's too dang short. There are 3 stages, and they are all somewhat easy. the lack of content made the game a little boring after a while, and i just wanted it over with after just a few hours. 2. You can't remap the controls for the controller. The standar buttons are fine. But i would have liked to be able to move the dodge button. 3.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good and addictive gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pro : - nice lights, colors and atmosphere - quick runs - interesting shifts in perspective Cons - expensive at full price because the game is VERY short (completed the first run in less than 1 hour) - few varity in enemies - after a couple of runs you will recognize the layers of the levels (they are the same with minor changes) - only 3 levels - (personal) perfomance issues and random fps drops - combat animation seems clunky - the whole combat is just dodge and attack...nothing else, no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring, repetative. No loot. rеtаrdеd enemies. Very good graphical design.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fallback is a really nice post apocalyptic rogue like. The "2.5 D" style is refreshing and the difficulty is well balanced. Every run is unique with the procedural generation and the build system 👍 I recommend this game ❤️
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely addictive game! Better play with a controller. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game ! I had really good time killing those evil machines !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly cannot believe this game is €9.99 The background story is so cool and relevant to whats going on in the world right now. I've only played a little but I'm outstanded by the quality and game play. The visuals are really beautiful and I can't wait to see how far this game will take me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fallback is a really good game ! Awesome gamefeel and powerfull gameplay ! I had the opportunity to test the game at Endroad studio during its first year of dev and the evolution from there to now is just crazy. Maybe our local champion in Nantes ;-) ?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun game to play and finish but the RNG makes 100% completing it a chore.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a fun, if simplistic rouge-lite. I enjoyed the premise (though don't expect any story building past the first 5 minutes) and the aesthetics. I beat the game and enjoyed playing it. You can level your characters up to an almost absurd place. I one-shotted the final boss with a max-stat player and some key modules. I'd like to see more from this developer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I REALLY want to like this game. Everything that's needed in a rogue-lite is there. Its only downside is the platforming. Anytime I have to hang on the side of an elevator, it's gonna be a bad time. You cannot attack while hanging on, so you have to try to jump and hit mid-air. The problem is that as soon as you jump, you fall like a rock, and attacks are generally pretty slow ( currently leveled attack speed to 10/25). Now that's just one downside to elevators. Often times the elevator leads…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →im bad at reviews. if you like 2.5D roguelikes with a variety of classes, its for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A silly, clumsy, boring platfomer-wannabee. Avoid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally beat the game, not much of a fan of rouge likes, but I found the game very fun and enjoyable with a lot of trial and error. Love the character models and world. My only dislike is that fact you cant just teleport to the area you want after you beat a level. Like if I want to spawn into the third area to hurry up and beat the game I should have that option instead of wasting hours just trying to fight back only to die again now I have to do slug though areas I don't care for anymore. But…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of those "Just one more run" games that works so well. You can simultaneously feel ridiculously overpowered, while knowing that one mistake may tip you over into "I'm in danger" territory. Great level design and variety with tight controls.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Earlygame: The Darksouls of 2.5D Rogue-lite games Endgame: The OPM of 2.5D Rogue-lite games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game.It has some performance issues which are holding back an otherwise great game.Hope the devs improve the performance soon and if possible add some extra content :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3D side-scrolling action game, with "rogue-like" elements. + Gameplay is fun with various traps, enemies, and classes. + movement is fluid with dashes and double jumps. = game is short, but it's rogue-like = promised update and content - the engine has FPS problems "it is a fun game with interesting upgrades to keep you trying, its not that short considering replayability and the cost"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all i didnt like the skill tree, there's nothing useful. Secondly combat mechanics don't work very well.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok this game is insanely cool. And more importantly, extremely competently made. Challenging but not unfair, very nicely polished, cool module/upgrade system, unique fighting styles for unlockable characters (prisoners you free as you proceed). Great music and sounds. Even the transitional scenes using 2D cutouts animated to create a sense of motion are lovely. Even if much of the game is "placeholder" graphics and so forth, they have done amazingly well so far! The hook of the game is very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game for a dollar, so the least it deserves is a review. This game is unexpectedly great. It's City of Embers meets Dead Cells, with some Unique Selling Points such as 2.5D movement in 3D environments. If you're looking for a good rogue-like, you've found one. I'm impressed by what they've been able to do so far, and I can't wait to see what comes out in the 2.0 update. The randomly generated levels are welcome, though not particularly varied. They do their job, but i'd love to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Found this little gem of a game due to a single "circumstance" which lead to it being on sale. THE GAME its fun, enough said. I don't write reviews much nor do I expect a vast game with intricate features from this developer. They put in a great amount of work on this game and I love it. An hour in right now and I still kill myself to lasers. They also reply very fast to comments by players which is a good sign of great people When they add in the 2.0 update im sure its just going to get…
