negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inspired by classic fairytales, Faery carries a lighthearted tone suitable for players of all ages, while still offering a surprising amount of depth beneath its whimsical surface. You’ll travel across four distinct locations, each filled with magical creatures and vivid, memorable designs. Every setting feels alive thanks to its distinctive theme and the freedom to explore by flying in full 3D an element that makes simple exploration genuinely joyful. Combat takes the form of turn based…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs still charge for a game that doesn't even work. Don't bother trying to downgrade or download any drivers, don't waste your time trying to make it work - because it just won't. I enjoyed it back in the day on 360 and again on PC when it was working a few years back, but no longer. Spend your money elsewhere.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game does not work. It does not open. This is true across multiple computers. Most discussion posts on this game are about downloading external applications and then changing the contents of the game folder to force it to work. This game is unplayable without downloading external content outside of Steam. Edit: It works on Steam Deck.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is another game where I wish I could leave a neutral review, but in the end I'm going with "Not Recommended" because of the game launch issues (see below). I loved flying around as a faery and talking to all the NPCs. The premise is simple and charming. The world is beautiful. The game isn't voice acted though, and the story doesn't feel fully fleshed out, which is a shame, because it's such a cool game and I feel like that would have made it even better. Unfortunately, this game doesn't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple but wonderful game. Go into it with whimsy and you can find a charming experience with a surprising amount of QoL features. Two important warnings for any prospective buyers: 1) You need to download a fix to play it on modern hardware, but it's free and easy to do. Just download and unpack into the game's main directory, overwriting all files asked, then delete the old executble and rename the executable you downloaded (Faery) to FearySteam. Now it works just fine, but you will not be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While cool to see one of Spiders first ever games and see how it all started, This game is unplayable without the use of mods and/or other tools on modern hardware and not really worth the hassle to fix, as the game is basically unfinished and has no rewarding ending as this was meant to have sequels and is honestly just a boring experience overall. Despite picking this up on sale for 0.76$ i would avoid this game due to the issues with getting the game to even open unless you really wanna…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, nice graphics, cool story. But does not work on Steam. You need to download files manualy to make it even work, and then still the achievements will not update. It will ether crash randomly of just hang after a long boss battle. Shame on Steam for selling stuff that is not working.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The reviews misled me a bit. It's really a little kid's game. Cute design and humorous dialogue, but it seems geared toward 8 year olds. Gets monotonous quick and the characters are too superficial. It ends abruptly but is a complete game. Even for 2011 or so there isn't that much here. Would be good for kids though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game will not run under modern Windows without patching, and even then you still have to install a separate version of PhysX just get the game to even run. And because of the patching, Steam achievements don't work. The game is also very slow paced. I started to lose interest as I got closer to the 3 hour mark, and seeing that achievements were not being earned just soured the experience. About the only thing I really liked a lot was the character customization at the start. But the rest of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spiders is just as legendary a studio as Piranha Bytes; every one of their games has a unique feature that sets them apart from the rest, and it’s a real shame they shut down.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Couldn't get it to launch, tried troubleshooting from the forums, no dice. Waited to long to get a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're scrolling past this thinking "eh, another indie RPG," STOP RIGHT THERE, YOU CRIMINAL SCUM. This is Spiders Studio's magnificent debut that showcases their incredible talent for creating immersive fantasy worlds! You play as a tiny faery awakened from magical stasis by King Oberon himself. The premise alone is enchanting: magic is dying because humans have stopped believing in faeries, and you must save multiple mythical realms from disappearing forever. The Flying Dutchman!…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From now on this is one of my favorite games. Despite the complete lack of voice acting and poor graphics (which is not surprising if you look at the year the game was released), I really liked this magical atmosphere. I've played thousands of games, but I've never experienced such a wonderful setting for the heart and the eye. It's a pity that this game doesn't have a sequel
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Up To Date Fix to allow the game to start! Here is an up to date link to the .exe file provided to me by @Minnie https://www.udrop.com/5XuX/FLA_ProtectionPatch.zip Navigate to your Faery game directory. Delete FaerySteam.exe. Drag and drop the files from the download into game directory. Then rename the new .exe to the same as the one you deleted (FaerySteam.exe) If by some chance the link no longer works head over to my thread on the discussions section for the game and drop me a comment, I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I all in all very much like the title. That is mainly driven by the very creative worldbuliding with phantastic creatures and stories. The worlds you travel to are very unique each and full of detail and atmosphere. There are often ways to avoid fights and instead do some questing. That mostly involves finding and fetching stuff but the small stories are always nice and fit. The characters are a highlight with different looks and personalities. You play as a faery involving a cool flight…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like it, but... The Good: Flying as a fairy Decent character creator Okay-ish graphics (for 2010) The Bad: There's a tutorial on how to move, but not one for how to prevent locking yourself out of something while leveling up. The UI is mediocre at best. Barely usable with a controller. How did this even work on Xbox? If you miss a detail in a quest dialog, you're pretty much lost. Quest management is pretty much non-existent. Can only be played…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is my childhood. I played it on my father's computer when I was little . It brings me so many memories of being able to play it again and I wish this game was fully finished . I find the game quite magical and the aesthetic unsettling. The gorgeous style allows you to see how fantasy is not all bright colours and happy . -The Mirrors- My favourite part is without a doubt the giant tree . Being able to go up a tree and see so many different animals was lovely . I also like how you…

Play a game that feels like it might be a guilty pleasure and then ends it so badly the it leaves a sour taste that drips all over the whole experience. This is one of those times again. I don’t know what behind scenes drama was going on but it was pretty dreadful Story: There isn’t really much to say. Your custom character wakes up and the faery king wants you to help solve the issues of some of the worlds. Pretty simple stuff. Characters…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Faery: Legends of Avalon is a solid game that lacks polish in a few areas. This is a turn-based RPG where you play as a fairy who travels to different worlds through mirrors. The premise is simple but fun, and the characters and world add a lot of flavor to the game. The combat is very simplistic and somewhat slow, though it does progress as the game goes on The world is vibrant, and feels similar to the world from the Fable series, though not as well-defined. The worlds are fun to explore,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short version: Pros: + Good premise + Enjoyable combat (initially) + Movement controls are satisfying + Soundtrack is very atmospheric + Decent character customization Cons: - Story is bland - Exploration is a bit boring - Combat gets repetitive towards the end - Graphics border on bad - No voice-acting - No respec option (experimentation is not encouraged) "Long" version: Faery – Legends of Avalon is a role-playing game developed by Spiders and published by Focus…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Suprisingly Good. Fairy tale base 3rd person Want to play more. 30min in seems fine for PG
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Small warning: this game ends with a cliffhanger. A promised sequel never appeared and the developers themselves admitted, that they don't plan to make a sequel anymore. I must say I really enjoyed this rpg game a lot! It's a complete different feeling to fly around, instead of walking around. To see simple birds being so much bigger than you and observing the world as a small being is really appealing and of course all the mythical creatures are giving a decent fairytale atmosphere. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun but you do need a third party patch for it to run. Additionally, it introduces up to twelve different worlds to explore through mirrors, but you can only enter three so it's a little misleading.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game does not function currently. You must acquire a 3rd party patch to get it to work. Once you do, you'll find that your effort was wasted on something that was mediocre nearly a decade ago. Don't bother.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wish they would finish it...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For anyone thinking of buying this game, don't. It does NOT work anymore. The game is completely broken and refuses to launch. There's a protection patch file that helps to fix crashing on launch, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. I tried every other fix I could find on steam, and a few others online as well, but alas, nothing worked—I think we can officialy declare this game dead and unplayable. I was disappointed too, Fairies are among my favorite fantasy species and I always said we…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth playing if you enjoy old school dark fantasy graphics coupled with the novelty of playing a fairy in a fairy-centric game. Ultimately negative review simply because the game is unlaunchable. With the help of other reviewers, I was able to get it to work. Unfortunately the achievements do not pop up with this fix. I used this patch: https://www.moddb.com/games/faery-legends-of-avalon/downloads/protection-patch Download the patch, extract the files & paste it into the game folder. (It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's start by saying I kinda enjoyed chilling with this game, but I have to be honest and the game isn't good. First of all, you'll likely need an unofficial patch to even run the game, Combat is very simple and basic, to the point you'll quickly find a single cycle of abilities that you'll use against any enemy, the game is not hard either. Writing is shallow and at times it feels quite randome: you'll explore different worlds that sare very similar, long quest chains that will go like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. Flying around as a faery and the incredibly diverse landscapes in various locations. Beautiful game. It makes me so sad that this was never completely finished. It is still very much worth it to play as far as it goes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really a fun and light game. The stories are actually really interesting, although very bare at moments.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm kinda conflicted with this one. It is pretty, the art is great and the whole theme is unique. But it is pretty confusing and boring. Confusing, because you never know where the heck you are or where to go to to find whom (looking at you - tree dimension) and boring, because it's basically an empty world with a few npcs to talk to and not much else. The fighting system works similar to an RPG-maker-concept or a Pokemon fight, so nothing special going on there. Vice versa - it's rather…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a simple, moderately entertaining RPG with some charming albeit rather dated visuals and a neat gimmick where the boosts you choose as you level up apply cosmetic changes to your character. Unfortunately it leaves off part way through the story and it looks, at this juncture, as if the sequel is never coming out so I can't really recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING: DO NOT BUY Usually, I like to go into detail with game reviews, but having played this game back in 2011, and SPIDERS selling a broken game in 2024 that doesn't launch without a random 3rd party user patch (that CAN be infected, though it isn't), pretty much means that I am more than happy to not recommend it for you. CONS: BROKEN: Game has PhysX, and it's ancient PhysX that causes a lot of issues in older games in _currentYear_ Usually, users release a fix to let the game work…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't start. Needs a mod to start... Wouldn't recommend to pay for this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While it SUCKS that the game creators have no plan for a sequel, the current amount of game play is still so fun. I used to play this game about a decade ago on the PS3 and it was so fun, and then about a month ago I remembered what it was called and was able to get it yesterday (It doesn't take long to beat). It is just as fun as I remember it being back then. Its a 2010 game, so its not the greatest in the graphic department compared to games you see getting released nowadays, but the story…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Faery – Legends of Avalon is a surprisingly interesting Gameworld where you play as a little flying fairy to explore a small but descent world that slowly loses its magic. The Combat is turn-based and gives the player a Team of the Main-Character and 2 active companions to fight against various enemies, that sometimes can even be avoided depending on the choises that where made. The Games strength is clearly in its nice, but still well working old-timer style of Fantasy RPG where the Player…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spiders' debut. Had to set to a single core to play this game. Got 100% and everything in 2 days. Short and ridiculously easy game, didn't used any potions at all. Very shallow and simplistic system. It's..... half-assed. There are better games from Spiders to play. Just pass this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I usually love Spider's games. I've played every one, with the exception of this one, until recently. Despite the rough graphics, the character creator was neat, but Spiders has come a very long way since this game. Flying around was cool, and the rest of the game was straight-forward, if not a bit boring. Nice music. The biggest disappointments are the short length, the cliffhanger type ending with no second game, and (while likely not the game's fault) the misinformation about bi romances.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What I love about this game: - characters - story - graphics - music - so much more What totally disappoints me: - story is unfinished. You go half the way and it's over. Not an open ending. The game even shows you what they wanted to add but haven't. This is a real pity.... I loved to walk the path nontheless and I really would have liked to go til the end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first became curious of this game when I was a preteen playing on the play station 3. I played the demo then, and I always wanted to continue playing the whole game, but never found the opportunity. Now that I am an adult, I remembered it and was able to find after so long. I was really happy when I realised that the game was available to purchase on steam. Today, I was able to complete it, and I can say that I loved every second. It really is such a sweet story. I am glad I played it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the concept of this game — just something about playing as a fairy. But honestly, that’s like all this game has going for it. The concept is there, the execution is not. No verbal dialogue, so even though there is a story, it’s a lot of reading. I find that I get sucked in more when you can actually listen. I’m not big on turn based combat, but if the game is good enough, then I’m fine with it. However, the combat is pretty basic so it was painfully boring. I also wish there were…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a pleasantly surprising game! I'd caught wind that Greedfall 2 was coming out of early access soon, and thought I'd check what other games Spiders made since I had enjoyed both their Greedfall and Bound by Flame games... and found a deep discount across their older titles. Number one complaint for this game that I'd read was it not starting on newer large multi-core/threaded CPU's, but my 8 core / 16 thread AMD CPU had no issues running this title right from the start using Proton…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🧚 Faery: Legends of Avalon A charming, simple little game for a few relaxing evenings. I spent about eight hours on it, though it can easily be finished faster. At first, the game feels a bit odd — it greets you through a tutorial in a strange, direct way. But after thirty minutes or so, everything becomes clear: the world, your goals, and the combat system. It’s not a hard game, and it’s definitely a cozy one — something you can play to unwind. 🌿 World and Atmosphere You explore a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Within Steam's binary positive/negative review system, I often leave negative ones. Sometimes, when a game is pretty cool but let down by some fundamental flaws which nudge it below the line, I wonder if I'm really being fair. This is not one of those times, and Faery: Legends of Avalon is not one of those games. Faery: Legends of Avalon is just bad. It's a kind of bad-ness that has little to do with its small scope or its lack of budget. I enjoy small scale, simple RPGs with unique…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game needs to be updated. It used to work, but now it won't open.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it on Steamdeck. It runs smooth but awkward. Did a single 100% run in a day. This is 10 hours of my life I will not get back. I wanted to like it, but everything about the game is extremely shallow and half-baked. The dialogue and characters are very surface level. The worlds are annoying to navigate and feel threadbare which is sad because they had really interasting locations. The entire plot feels rushed, then they just decide to skip to the climax.... and then end the game before…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game! I loved the feeling of being a bird-sized fairy, flying through all of these giant landscapes, and was surprised by the way the story hooked me in towards the end! It’s too bad the series got dropped so long ago. I feel like it aged really well and could have done better in later years if the devs had held on past initial reception! Games with this kind of theme sell like hotcakes lately!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the game, just a shame it doesn't run without a mod.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty basic and straightforward Adventure/RPG hybrid; one of those games that you do not want to give your 100%. It was just what I needed nowadays. However, to warn you, this game has no satisfying story final(it was planned to have sequels).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite boring and incomplete game. The story is kind of cool but quests are kind of lame. Graphic is ok, I like the early 2000's style, music is enjoyable. Combat is terrible: almost 0 information on what's going on, stunning mechanic seems broken...a total mess if you ask me. It's a cute game but nothing more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Childhood nostalgia beating my ass ngl
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was a "meh" rating for games. There's a lot to like (not love) about Faery - Legends of Avalon, but it's not something I have need of ever playing again. I finished all achievements and the story in under 7 hours. I also had to look into how to get the game to even start up, because it simply wouldn't. However, the fix was fast and easy to find. Faery - Legends of Avalon's story is cute and the character creator is nice. As you level up, you put your single point each time into a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Faery is not a very good RPG...but this devs (Spiders) all other RPGs are brilliant!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this in a sale several years ago and never got round to playing it. Now I have I am pleasantly surprised. The game play is simple but solid and a I really like the way the quests often have a more non-violent path you can follow. While the graphics are somewhat dated technically speaking, I really like the art style. Its not the most challenging game but I have a feeling the target audience is considerably younger than me. Would warmly recommend for some colourful, casual questing,…
