60 of 65 · most liked firstAt first glance and play, a very nice tribute to the platformers of days gone by. The controls are reponsive and feel good. The story, presented in comic book fashion, is quite entertaining. You are a guardian, a hero, awakened (unintentionally) from stasis during a world invasion and are the worlds last and only hope. But your powers are unstable and you tend to spontaneously explode if you are too idle or slow. You have a need for...exploding and it's better to put them to good use. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty neat platformer game! The comic book style is nice and it has a sweet sound track. The story mode is fun and has some amusing dialogue. Reminds me a lot of classic Mega Man games. The explosion mechanic is fun and used in a variety of ways through out the game. There are some spots that are pretty tricky but over all not a terribly difficult game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good platformer, but not a great one. The main issues first: -Boost Run doesn't always seem to trigger properly, either that or its triggering mechanics aren't properly explained, I had many deaths due to this. - Difficulty spikes out of nowhere in the second half by introduction of instant death that was entirely absent from the first half. A bit late to introduce that kind of stuff, I think. -Third world is generally a bit of a mess level-design wise. Lots of physics puzzles that don't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game deserves a lot more attention than it currently gets. The writing is hilarious, gameplay is great and very reminiscent of classic platformers (like the Mega Man X series) but maybe with a slightly more forgiving level of difficulty. Besides being an homage to such platformers it's a great game in it's own right. Good controls, interesting mechanics, good level design and can be played both as an action platformer and a puzzle platformer. If you're going for 100% there will be some…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Explodemon is a fun and inventive puzzle platformer with a great art style and clever level design. Well worth a look for any fans of old-school megaman or platforming enthusiasts in general.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spolsion Man and Ms. Splosion Man are vastly superior in every way. Just go play those, Explodemon is basically a knock-off of them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Explodemon is a very mediocre 2D platformer that uses an "exploding" mechanism to attack enemies, bypass obstacles and help you jump higher. The explosion gimmick is all there is to the game really, as you control a japanese inspired "superhero" style character through futuristic looking 2D platformer levels. There's no support for 4K, gameplay isn't very satisfying. Default keybindings are a bit clunky but they can be changed. Art style is really primitive and cartoony and doesn't come…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great! It's a mix of all great things from the past. It's Megaman, it's Bomberman and It's funny! Hell I'm wasting my time here! I'm going to play some more :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminds me a lot of a puzzle focused MegaMan. But instead of shooting you explode. I would say its a little to simple for the asking price at the moment. But if you see it in a sale buy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so quit the game need to start the entire game all over again? How horrible is that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Be to see not rewareded enough, a game success.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to like this game because I enjoy the Megaman series, but this game falls short of that comparison. The biggest complaint is the soundtrack. The music gave me a pretty bad headache. I had to turn off the sounds in order to try and play the game. The humor of the game is bittersweet. I actually thought some of the written conversations were funny, but you realize after a short while explodemon is a one trick pony and does the same type of nonsenical jokes. I like the humor,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A quirky homage to 2.5D action-platformers like Mega Man, where your primary move is literally blowing yourself up to attack and maneuver. The core explosive platforming mechanic is neat, but sluggish controls and uninspired level design drag the experience down. It’s got charm and a goofy sense of humor, but the floaty combat keeps it from truly exploding.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, THIS GAME! HRRGNZBRNNFT! The humor is nice. The idea of the game as well: Explodemon can jump and explode, no other weapons. The controls though, well... They are ok in the beginning. But then, when it's about precision, some moves feel immature, like the charge (run+explode). Some of the bonus-areas can be lost by exploding too close to a crate one could have needed. Back to checkpoint, try it again. Some checkpoints are chosen badly: You have to press through a dialogue you can speed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh gimmick - the game. What is the point of exploding every 15 seconds? Why is my health linked to my damage and fire rate? Who thought inconsistent fire rate is fun?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is locked at 1280*720 internal resolution. Guess the dev's love for japanese games extends to lazy ass pc porting practices.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun original concept, some minor flaws, and decent level graphics. Fun for a once-through. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first sight it may seem like a watered down Megaman, but... No wait, it is actually a watered down Megaman... But I like it. If retro platformers are your thing, then this might be a good game for you. It has nice mechanics, graphics and music. The only irritating things are the constant conversations/tutorials and some earrapey sounds. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the game mechanics initially (although sometimes they seems a bit radoom/unprecise), unfortunately the controls are quite clunky and unreliable, this ultimately hinders the fun towards the end of the game. This not to mention various technical issue, nothing serious but still...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is a side scrolling platformer. many aspecs ot the game reminds me of the some mega man games, but it still have a unique gameplay with the explosions. the explosions have big role in both gameplay and the design , You can use explosions to jump higher, move faster, lift objects and blow up the Aliens . the story isn't realy impressive but its funny . it is a short but funny experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the concept of this game. A robot whose only weapon is the explosions he causes all the time? Yeah...that DOES work as a concept! :D It ties in with the humor (the planet's leaders rather surrender to their enemies than use their last chance of beating them - by using you), and the Engrish quotes tend to grow on you. The game itself plays well, is fun and flows quite reasonable (wallsliding could be implemented better, but it's doable). My only real gripe is that it's terribly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ever play through megaman? Ever hear of Protoman? And how he has an unstable life reactor that could explode at any form of shock? Yeah, In a perfect world, where megaman is still a thing, There's Explodemon. Your foul mouth/ ill translated metal bootcan hero who... Explodes constantly. Under your control if used frequently enough. So far, no guns, just explodemon and his additional abilities granted through explosion. Dashing, double jumps, chain explosions, critical explosions. Pretty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you enjoy old style flashy platformers with upbeat electronic music like Mega Man or Sonic with a good dose of silly humor thrown in, then I would really try Expodemon. I got it through a bundle, but would easily pay full price if I knew it was this much fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great litte platformer/puzzle game that works on the mechanic that you can explode yourself over and over. This means that you are bombing enemies up close, or dashing through them while exploding (sort of...). Boost-jumping, sliding, chaining are required to get through the generous levels, and completionists will have something to bite into here too, as each level has hidden icons to find. Most of these are not accessible right away, either. Graphically the game is nice, with a smooth,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Explodemon pros: fast game with modern day graphics with easy controls that moves from location A to B to C and so on, good amount of action and special effects, cons: some difficult platforming. may need to set Explodemonexe => properties => compatibility mode => windows xp and set steamexe task manager => details => set affinity to 2 cpu (change affinity back after playing) good game. Personal Suggested Purchase Price: $0.99 Or Less During Sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ First and foremost this game is run and fun with no gun game. + Explodemon is non-stop action mayhem game + there are collectibles and steam achievements + hilarious interactions with the lightning environment + graphics are very nice and polished art with designs + i have bought this game 2 years back with nice price
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very enjoyable mario / mega-man style platformer. Fun hectic combat, good puzzles, exciting level exploration.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Explodemon is a pretty cool 2d platform/puzzle game with a focus on its explosion mechanic. The Good: - Fun platforming - Interesting puzzles - Funny dialogue The not so good: - Graphics are meh - Various minor annoyances (typical puzzler problems like stuff getting into places where you have to reload etc) Overall it's not a bad time though. I really enjoyed playing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Meh." That's the best I can manage to say about this game. It has decent platforming, and a funny, light-hearted story, but the mechanics and controls weren't enough to keep me interested. The game is decent. I had a moderate amount of fun for maybe an hour, and pretty much felt like I was wasting time after that. That isn't to say I hate this game -- far from it. It just didn't manage to hold my interest for very long. I can appreciate it for what it is and I can say it was worth it for the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a modern megaman asthetic, with a different unique gameplay style. you are a dangerous and partially broken robot who must explode every few seconds. you use the explosion ability to fight an evil invading robot/alien species, platform, and solve various puzzles. upgrades, obtained at the beginning of each level, make your explosions more effective in various ways. an interesting game that i would pick up if it was on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Explodemon is like the lovechild of Megaman X and Ms. Splosion man. I'm not TOO far in but so far this game is a masterpiece and well worth the 9$ price! Of course the same masterminds behind Stealth Bastard made it so it's gotta be good! If you want a game that truly feels like a platformer from the SNES era, go buy this now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect for the late night!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Live now on twitch with Explodemon! a game that you probably never heard of.
unlabelledView post →Its not another megaman clone! I know it looks like one... But its not! lol, this game really lives up to its name and is actually kind of cool believe it or not lol. Its not worth full price but if you can get it on sale you can have a lot of fun experimenting with blowing your self up to get through the levels, you need to blow your self up to get through breakable walls and doors, platforming, solving a few physics puzzles, and of course defeat enemies. There's also optional collect all the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprise! I downloaded it and it crushed and can never run. I don't know how stupider a developer can be then. Bye then.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a 2D platformer it's alright. The humor is not amazing but not bad either, the levels are pretty creative, and there are several collectibles hidden in each level you are incentivized to get. Often you have to solve some kind of puzzle to get them, and these are pretty good. However, quite often you only get one chance to get them before you pass one of the frequent points of no return, even if accidentally, or before something you need is destroyed. If it wasn't for this fact the game would…

Play 20XX for a better execution of the metroidvania formula. http://store.steampowered.com/app/322110/20XX/ Manual configuration of Xbox360 pad worked good. Controls were a little finnicky, especially trying to execute the charging attack. Some of the ledge grabbing seemed to be at the whim of the dev if it worked or not. Wall…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was expecting some kind of Megaman, maybe because of that i was a bit disappointed when i played it. But nevertheless it is a good game that made fun playing it. Some tricky Jump'n'Stuff parts, but really a game i would recommend ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glitches in the beginning of game have spoiled all the wanting of play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has an interesting idea, but the gameplay itself is not fun. Can't really point out any specific flaw, I just don't enjoy it. Sorry :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works well enough for what it sets out to do. Is fairly well-optimized so a more recent computer won't choke on its existence, though the freeze-frame for landing a clean hit on an enemy can get a little annoying after a while. A little glitchy here or there, but I've certainly played worse and I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to something like this. The plot works given that it's intended as a parody; the title character talking like he was educated on English by someone who…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is broken. It hurt to play and hurt even more so to even attempt 100 percent completion. The story is barebones and any attempt to understand it is cut short and swiftly by the weird grammar. Not that it matters, since you can't replay cutscenes or have multiple save files. The physics break constantly, with objects either bouncing around like crazy, jittering in one spot, or glitching through boundaries. Every item, including collectibles also respond to physics, meaning they can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Explodemon is a fun little platformer that scratches that classic Mega Man itch — the explosion mechanic is genuinely creative and gets used in interesting ways throughout the levels, from boosting jumps to solving puzzles. The comic book presentation and self-aware humor give it some personality, and the level design is mostly solid, especially in the first half. That said, the controls can feel finnicky when precision matters, the third world takes a noticeable dip in quality, and the PC port…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Explodemon is an energetic and chaotic love letter to classic 16-bit platformers, developed by Curve Studios and published by Curve Games. At its core, the game revolves around a single, absurdly entertaining concept: the protagonist can explode at will, using bursts of self-destruction to jump, attack, and solve puzzles. This explosive mechanic defines nearly every aspect of the experience, transforming what could have been a standard platformer into something much more kinetic and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. As a huge fan of Mega Man X and several other similar platformers, this seemed right up my alley. Unfortunately, it feels very monotonous; the gameplay and enemies all feel very same-y, the music gets repetitive quickly, and the story humor feels forced. I will say, if it's in a bundle and can be had for <$1, it's worth giving it a shot if you're a platformer fan, but it just didn't do it for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is no way I can call this a bad game based on the first world of four levels. The biggest hurdle with the game is realizing that it is not Mighty Number 9 and in contrast can be fun to play. The game unique platforming mechanics with the exploding, stuff like wall-jumping and the object bouncing mechanics that show ingenuity to the extent that is not commonly found in indie games. It tries to look as good as possible while being mechanically like a small, simple indie game. That makes it…

If you like my remarks about games, you can find more of them here: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44130985-TDP%27s-Gaming-Escapades I like to play games that were released many years ago. Sometimes, I can find hidden gems; Games that are incredibly fun to play even after all these years. And sometimes, I find games that are so problematic and/or badly made that I cannot bring myself to put more time than what I already have into playing…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who grew up with PlayStation 1, SEGA, Nintendo consoles, and someone who is an avid fan of platformers, I can certainly see this game's appeal and the fact that this game doesn't have a save option for your progress (meaning, if you close the game, all your progress is gone) is a nice touch, however, at this state I can't recommend this game to anyone, because: 1. Controls are clunky. Having no save option is a real tribute to 80-90s era of platformers, but having the same clunky…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1)The boss fights (if you can call it that) is just you fighting the same guy over and over 2)The game mecanics are so inconsistant that in order to not go insane you must not try to finish this game 3)I discovered this game through a PS3 demo and yet it doesn't have controller support?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This a unique action platformer that is sort of like if Mega Man was a dysfunctional robot that made everything around him explode, blowing up friend and foe alike. It's pretty fun, though nothing spectacular. You fight the same boss every other stage, but they change it up enough that somehow each fight seems unique in some fashion. There are a lot of collectibles, and many of them are ridiculously well hidden, so its got some nice replay value if you want to find everything.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;dr - badbadnightmarebad Runs at 1280p max. IS A MIGHT NO.9 CLONE. Runs and looks like garbage. Broken text boxes over NPCs. The controls are sluggish. It's ripping off one of the worst kickstarter controversies in history. 1/10 at best
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tried to play at 1600 x 900 and the game would randomly break and barely function. Tried to play at 1200 x 720 which fixed the breaking issue but then the game became disgusting to look at. Basically, it's unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was really fun! It felt like a really well made platformer with a very interesting mechanic. The puzzles were engaging and felt interesting to me. The writing was a bit weird, but I legit laughed out loud at several of the jokes throughout. My only real complaint is that when you die by falling down a hole or in acid the waiting to get back to your save point by seeing the 'fail ending' screen was a bit long. Especially with some of the tricky platforming where I fell in acid a lot, I…
