60 of 80 · most liked firstEdit/Update as of July 2022: So any hope I gave the team in the original review was... unfounded lol. They added one new location and fixed a few of the other game breaking bugs but this is still a really disappointing game. I'm never going to hate on someone trying to do something new, because at the least this game did try to set itself apart a bit, but pretty much on all counts this game flops as both a fun experience and a product. It's far too short, costs too much and is just really…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sum-Up In-depth analysis further down. 🟩 Pros 🟥 Cons - Dark, eerie, fear-inducing setting that conveys the right atmosphere for the genre. - Varied situations and gameplay elements keep the experience fresh until the end. - Rewarding, compelling exploration with many interesting (and helpful) things to find. - Interesting lore, with a passable amount of documents and narrative elements. - Evident lack of polishing, above-average quantity of bugs. - Balance issues with resource and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The atmosphere for the game is solid but there are a grand total of three enemy types in the game and you only encounter one of them once, the second is invulnerable to damage and constantly hounds you in the main area of the game and the third is the same copy/pasted zombie model over and over again. The monsters start out creepy but the fun wears out fast due to how little there actually is to the game. The invulnerable enemy quickly moves from 'scary' to 'annoying' due to the fact that they…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can sum this game up in one word: yikes. The game is basically in beta and it wasn't disclosed to buyers. I might check back in a few months because I really like the concept.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyed my time with this game. Love the atmosphere and setting. Every new location brings about more mystery and the character interactions you do have bring about more and more questions. I like how simplified the crafting is, being broken down into 3 needed materials. This makes inventory management a lot easier instead of relying on guess work as to what materials will be more important. As of now it’s missing a few quality of life features, such as an auto stack function, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well anytime i see tinybuild or team 17 ill avoid until the devs actually finish the game. since theres a pattern of good idea but rushed and decleared v1.0 "finished" waaaaaay too early with those publishers and many of the devs involved.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gonna be honest, I'm disappointed. It's not by any means a horrible game but it's not the same game we saw roughly 6+ months ago. Back then we saw heavy survival elements, a dreadful monster that we had no real way to fight other than hiding from, safe houses where we could briefly rest in, and the ability to drag your sled through the snow as way of transporting equipment. But most of that is gone now. I'ts just moving from place to place to find samples and gather random junk to upgrade/build…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The time I spent with the game was enjoyable, but I could not play it for very long due to nausea caused by the narrow FOV. After almost 6 months an FOV slider has not been patched into the game and I cannot recommend the game for anyone that has issues with tight FOV.qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game about surviving infected woods full of zombies and anomalies. I love the backdrop for this. Snowy, cold environments are a great setting for these types of games. I’m reminded of Near Death, a favorite of mine. Expedition Zero is nowhere as focused and effective though. You’re basically fumbling around in a forest, looking for points of infection to eradicate. Between safety, you have to make sure not to freeze to death. Nor fall victim to the stalking horror that randomly appears --…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, I love the game! I started playing it because I wanted to test it. I ended up playing the whole game in one long session. I love the atmosphere and thematic! Reminded me a bit of the Metro Series. I had very much fun playing the game, even tho it has quite some downsides. Disclaimer: I really enjoyed the game, I just want to share my thoughts and what I think could lead to an even better overall experience. Like I said, there are some things that didnt ruin my experience but…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;dr : I wish there was a 'middle ground' for thumbs up or down, because this game fits right there, it's a 6/10 you should get on 40-50% or so discount. I'll detail why below, but there's your quick review. The basic flow of the game is that you traverse a forest finding artifact samples, while evading a monster that grows increasingly aggressive as you find more artifacts. It feels like one of the Slenderman games where you hunt down pages, but adapted and improved upon significantly. Along…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cool little game with real potential that was very rough technically when it came out. Very good setting, universe. Don't die because of the frost! Keep an eye on your energy. Blizzard tempests can happen at any moment. Find items scattered around, prepare yourself! What is lurking here? What happened?? You need to search different zones, forest, abandonned underground labs, village, church, airplane, school, farm… Your goal: analyze strange phenomenons to make progress, with the help of…

Guys if you are trying to draw in funds release it as alpha and work with players to make it better... Poor animations no content, zombies or what ever to call them...monsters...3 types most common one guy with axe...has animation stuck and looks like he is just flying at you, no threat at all, other one who keeps attacking you in the forest and you cant do…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Expedition Zero is a survival horror set in a mysterious anomaly zone made of creepy forests, military outposts and abandoned research facilities. You play as an explorer who has been sent to collect artifact samples of the anomaly and understand what happened to the previous expedition team. With only a few items in your pocket, you will scout every corner looking for resources you can use to craft new items and upgrades using 3D printers placed in different locations. The premise of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a very slow game with some weird mechanics and is basically like an escape room where you would have to find items or connect a generator to the building so you could get to the next part, it could do better honestly with everything inside just felt clunky and would not want to attempt to either finish the game and focus on other games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The devs applied a patch addressing an issue I had the exact same day I put up the review. That alone is making me incredibly optimistic to finish this already intriguing and beautiful game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm looking at the game from the perspective of a stalker fan (especially the less shooty versions) and i gotta say it straight away: WOW. I've tried quite some stalkeresque games but this one hits kinda different. You're scavaging while exploring abandoned and destroyed facilities while avoiding the few but terrifying enemies, trying to stay warm and keep your battery charged. There are some upgrades for the suit to craft, 2 weapons to find and a few gimmicks. Nothing special. The game stays…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly short and seems unfinished. Completed the game in about 2 hours without realizing there is only a single quest line in one area of the game. Spent a couple hours after completing it going back over every location with a fine toothed comb thinking that I must have missed something. The secondary areas are small locations with only one or two pieces of "lore" in the form of vague disjointed notes that don't help resolve the mystery of the game at all, and if anything add more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looked interesting and was on sale. I figured so long as nothing super bad happened right away, might be fun to get into another horror survival crafting game. Wasn't quite what I expected. More like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. than The Forest. That would have been fine, but issues cropped up quickly, preventing me from getting anywhere. The character is very slow. Even sprinting doesn't seem to do much. This means more time holding down buttons to move, which can strain the hand. I've experienced such…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing this game a long ago when it first released I enjoyed it, but soon I will re-play it to see how the updates were and how it holds up now as of Dec 8th 2022, seems like the latest update was back in June, I really hope they didn't give up on this game. There were many bugs that I had to deal with before. *Note that this is before all of these updates - Issues with Flashlight not working - AI being invisible - T posing Zombies lmao - Saves not working - Items picked up will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a particularly bad game, but it's not a great one either. I guess for a $20 asking price you can't really expect much. I like games with this kind of vibe: Eastern Somewhere, monsters, weird stuff happening, survival/scavenging and combat elements. The problem is, for around the same price, you can pick up a bunch of other games that offer the same but pull it off way better: Stalker... Metro... even Chernobyl Lite. It's probably unfair to compare Expedition Zero to these other games…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this game with low expectacions. But up until now this game has been a fun game. Graphics are great, gameplay is great. From times to times I am actually terified. The only complain that I have is the preformance. I get around 40 fps, wich is playable but not that great. I'l give you an update when i finish the game. Edit: I'm done playing this game. The bugs from the farmhouse are pretty annoying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game was pretty decent. It is still very buggy and clearly still in development. Did I have a lot of fun? Well, yeah, in the beginning. But then I ran into a bug where my progress was hindered as I was supposed to be able to go inside the Relay Station but I never got that. I also was not able to complete the Farmhouse due to the painting missing from my game. After an update I decided to restart the game and I managed to finish it, but the charm was gone at that point it just became a task to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game. The atmosphere is there, the tension, the constant dread... The flying enemies got my adrenaline flowing. The post-apocalyptic Soviet theme is becoming kind of a tired trope these days, but I'm a sucker for it, and this game has it. Mysterious derelict zone full of abandoned military gear? Check. Cold winter nights in dark woods where inhumane shrieks pierce the night? Check. Soviet-era technology, including a nuclear reactor? Check. A thin layer of Eastern Orthodox mysticism…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has so much potential but sadly it falls short for many reasons. The programming/coding.. horrific.. a game this small with somewhat poor graphics shouldn't choke your computer into submission and force you to lower graphics settings. I run MSFS 2020 which in itself is a very demanding game on most computers. I run my settings on ultra and never once has my system wanted to choke. Not the case for EZ. At this point I regret buying it due to not only the constant bugs and chunky coding…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great and obscure indie survival game that at times recalls the legendary Cryostasis. Recommended for diehard fans of the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must say. Dont go in expection a grafical masterpiece. Nor a very long experience. I would say it would be a lot better with 10 € instead of 20. But the 3,5 hours i spent? it was enjoyable. It was not the triple A horror game where your heart stops. But it has some good moments The survival elements were enjoyable. Managing to even put me under pressure sometimes funnily enough. So yea. if on sale? worth it definitly. And id love a sequel but doubt one will come
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recieved a key to test for my twitch channel. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and only got frustrated a few times when the goal wasn't clear, but was able to figure it out after some exploring. I ran into 2 bugs, one where I had to reload a save (dont open the inventory underwater) and one where the zombie model just T-posed at me. Other then that, I didn't have many issues, I do wish that the objectives were a bit more clear with what they require. 7/10, won't replay but don't regret it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game needs a lot of polish in the core mechanics. Looting, movement and combat are very underdeveloped and stiff, but the game does provide a very provocative atmosphere with its great use of weather, light, and sound design. So if you like games that give you a short lived thrilling experience, this is worth checking out, but definitely hold out until many patches are provided since its just tough to keep playing after an hour of clunky gameplay. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed my time with Expedition Zero.I took my time and tried to explore as much as i could and went for every upgrade possible. Some upgrades feel a little pointless but most of them do the job their tool tips describe. The monsters are creepy and the setting for the game keeps you jumping at every sound. It seems as if there are only a few types of monsters in the game but i feel like it works for this game. The monster types that are in the game are well designed and creepy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm hoping that they're planning on using Clair Obscur as a thematic game franchise title like Shin Megami Tensei or something, and there's lots more to come - also Expedition Zero DLC when
unlabelledView post →Good game, interesting concept, but I'm giving it the down vote because about half way through I got a bug/glitch/what ever the hell it was that made me drop all items whenever I used any equipment you can switch on/off witch is obviously beyond ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I give this thumbs up with RESERVATION. Expedition Zero has a lot going for it. The atmosphere is spectacular, especially how the weather makes things more oppressive and uncertain. I also appreciate the attempt at deeper gameplay, as you need to pay attention to health and stamina (as usual), in addition to your body temperature and battery power. These latter two details add an interesting twist to the usual and create more tension. You can upgrade your gear to make life easier and this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i tough it was more survival than horror but it's actualy more horror than survival and i don't like it (i was looking for game more like darkwood) welp that's just my opinion.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished this game and really enjoyed it. I love the concept that not only the monsters are your enemy, but also the cold and your dying batteries are complicating things. The atmosphere is very creepy and the enemy you find at the farm scared me a lot! I did struggle a bit with the forest monsters as they did not leave me alone for a second but did manage to escape them eventually. All by all a great game and I recommend to check it out if you are into survival horror games!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had a rough start for me. The first patch solved 90% of my issues and I am super happy about that. I love that they really focus on the survival part of the survival horror. This is more than just a jump scare walking sim. Is it perfect? No. Does it have enough heart that it's worth it? Yes!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished Expedition Zero and I was seriously impressed with the game. It's a bit rough around the edges - that is true, but you get a perfectly playable and enjoyable experience with a fantastic story that is frightening & even a bit disturbing at times, even without scripted scares. Length-wise I think the game hits the right spot & it's priced accordingly - so you really can't go wrong with Expedition Zero. Overall the whole Expedition Zero experience was just great & I would really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The monster A.I is a little spooky, shooting it a couple times scares it off. The other enemy I encountered (maybe a zombie?) didn't pose a threat at all. I like the upgrading system, just wish that once you found a blueprint inside of one printer, it would be in all printers. If not, you have to go back to the printer you found the upgrade in originally to get it. Graphically, there's been frame rate drops, motion blur had to be turned off immediately and it can be very bright combining the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I understand that this game is far from perfect, but I am actually enjoying it a lot. I just hope that the developer doesn't throw the towel in due to the negative reviews, because I would really like to see some more refinements.

First off, the presentation is incredible. The developers did a great job in the visual design and lighting to convey that sense of isolation and fear…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL:DR - This game is not really what it appeared to be and I would highly recommend you avoid this title until it's had some issues fixed or addressed. I don't think it's for me, and even if they fix some of the issues I don't see myself playing this one for more than an hour or so, so I'm refunding it. List of issues in just the first 15 minutes or so: Music slider off before I even start playing and I hear music for almost 2 minutes. Changing the slider doesn't affect the volume of that…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games OK, the base line battery needs like a 20% bump its not even bad it just makes early game tedious and annoying, the main enemy that's unkilliable needs to be deadlier but also needs ways to get it to piss off for like 10 or 15 minutes as its just freaking annoying AF when exploring the main area, its neither hard nor scary after the first 15 minutes it becomes a mechanic that pisses you off more then anything and healing items need a serious bump in spawn rate, these three things would…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have to say I enjoyed streaming this game tonight on Twitch. My viewers enjoyed watching my saucer eyed screams and said they'd like to see me continue streaming it. It's a dark game and at times I found it a little difficult to understand what I was to do but after some trial and error things became second nature for me. I love the atmosphere and the map development was really great. The sounds and the overall visuals were quite immersive. You do spend a lot of time harvesting mats by…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy this game. It took me a little to figure out the cold mechanic but once I did I started having even more fun exploring. Small puzzles that aren't super hard but I enjoyed them none the less. It runs great for me and I haven't had any issues with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First I just want to say I am not a hardcore horror game player!. I did not encounter any problems after installation or during gameplay even with graphics set to max and at 1440p which was nice as the game felt smooth. The graphics in this game are pretty good especially when you get to the forest where I feel the game really shines. I found the audio in this game to be very important and well done as it made you feel everything that was going on. The dead zombie things are a little…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've seen the reviews for this and honestly I am a bit disappointed by their judgement. First off the game has Beautiful graphics. It may be a little confusing at times with the gameplay but the sound quality, graphics, controls, requirement for early on resource management and inventory management makes this game very cool. There isn't a whole lot of what most players want which is content however it's literally a brand new game. There is absolutely so much potential for this and this was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Beat the game gotta say I enjoyed it some bugs here and there shadows, cliping, however I did not mind. The zombies were a bit easy would be a lot more dicey if they ran at you then stomp slowly towards you. Exploring was quite thrilling making me on edge and the other maps were nice tid bits of lore. The monster down at the farmhouse got me did not expect to die instantly I tired to shoot it no idea if that did anything. I loved the game and I hope there is more added to it later on.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the short amount of time I played this so far, I am in love, the atmosphere really draws you in, and makes you tense up. There are some slight quality of life issues, where my items don't stack correctly or the inventory moves around, but that doesn't bother me. Other than those, this game runs great, and I have not encountered any game breaking bugs. Ill update this review when I get farther in the game with more info. Overall I highly recommend getting this game if you like horror…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended. A scrappy frozen-zone survival game whose interlocking temperature, battery and crafting meters reward persistence, wrapped in unsettling audio atmosphere and dragged down by alpha-grade jank. Managing warmth, batteries and scavenged components (metal, polymer, electro) gives the loop real texture, and upgrading at fixed 3D-printer stations across five areas forces deliberate route planning. The early forest hours, stumbling through darkness with barely any direction, are the…
