Resident Evil Awaits is a RE inspired survival horror closest to RE 4, where you play as an agent receiving a distress call from a remote castle. She becomes trapped due to her car exploding, so the only way is deeper into the heart of the castle. Has a great atmosphere. Its a basic third person shooter, but gunplay and unlockable moves feel good. Several…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a solo dev to have made this, this is a great game. It is a little rough round the edges in some points, it also isnt without its bugs and glitches but that is ok, I have seen some AAA titles in much worse states. If you are a fan of the resident evil series then I would recommend this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A poor mans Resident Evil wanna be, with cobbled together Unreal blue prints and assets. It feels bad and the FOV choice is deliberately awful, Dev responded to me (in a deleted post by them) they believe it's a style choice of the genre. I find it a weak response, while leaving a post by someone else on how to do it via 3rd party hacking tool?! The childish overzealousness of them if you say anything critical of their game. Refunded. Chai-T The only "Misinformation" is coming from you. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hey dev, i tried getting into this game and the boss designs are good, the world is decent and the guns are cool, but the movement is very stiff and the game lacks sound fx, but for one person it's not even close to a bad game..unfortunately i am leaving a bad review because the gameplay is kinda tedious and while i was looking to have fun fighting more bosses, the gameplay was very slow, the sprint wasn't responsive on KBM or controller and i can't justify a game like this at it's current…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tl:dr: It's RE4 at home. Pros: + Looks ok for an indie game + Non-cringe female protagonist that actually looks decent + Upgrade system was cool + Good weapon variety + Save points are well spaced + Rewards exploration Cons: - Animations are a little rough - No key rebinding, some defaults are weird - Takes a few tries to get the interact button to work - Silent/expressionless protagonist is kind of awkward here - One of the keys is easily missed and you'll think the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has no right to be this much fun! I was shocked how good this game is. I just thought this was going to be some Rinky Dink asset flip but I was wrong. It definitely uses pre-made assets but what it does with them is perfect. Tells of decent story and the gameplay is great. Yes, it is a low budget game but at the same time it's really good and you can tell the person who made it really put their heart and soul into it. And I've been enjoying this game a lot. It is so much fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR Worth the buy for action survival horror / RE fans or get on sale if you're looking for something new. The game gets better the longer you play it, with the more you upgrade and unlock. Pros - Heavily rewards exploration - Linear level design means you're rarely lost or unsure how to progress - Lots of upgrades that all feel great to unlock and use (Even more on New Game+) - Atmosphere is really well done, especially in the cemetery and castle levels - Voice acting - Around ~5 hours…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is clearly inspired by the more linear design of survival horror found in RE4, and that's not a bad thing. Fun collectibles, a variety of weapon and ability upgrades, (mostly) snappy controls, and overall pretty decent gameplay. The lack of enemy variety isn't a big deal since the game is short enough that nothing overstays its welcome. There were a few obviously purchased assets, but the visuals are cohesive and suitable for the most part. My biggest complaint is definitely the story.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A breezy, 3-hour, atmospheric TPS that doesn't pad itself out or suffer from feature bloat. Easy to pick up & play, and has some clever ideas the dev clearly had fun designing. Controls were nice and snappy for the combat style it’s going for, and it gladly embraces action rather than punishing it. Exploring for upgrades and unlockables was fun, and didn't bog itself down trying to be overly cryptic with puzzles. The heroine is gritty and super pretty, especially in her premium costumes which…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great work for a single developer, but the entire combat system is too imbalanced. The story follows a detective who just happens to hear a distress call while driving. After arriving to the forest and making her way to the castle, she becomes trapped when her car blows up. It’s all very standard stuff that doesn’t waste any time. You get a pistol and first enemies within five minutes into the game. You will not have to deal with many controls because they are typical for a third-person…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely worth getting on sale... it's like a janky RE4 remake or somethin, but it has a lot going for it coming from an indie company. Being able to choose your spec and carefully looking for skulls while considering ammo with melee hits etc is a blast, and honestly, wish the game was longer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Evil Awaits is a gem of a game. I had loads of fun playing it. It's like Remnant meets third person survival horror. Although I ran into a strange glitch where every save point would warp the world, it wasn't really too big of a deal. The game play is fun, the enemies are decent, and the story is cool. A great condensed indie game and if it looks interesting to you, you should probably pick it up and play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty decent game with well made puzzles, good boss designs, and a nice weapon/character upgrade system. Shooting mechanics might remind you a little of RE4 (I recommend enabling the crosshair cursor in the options). The narration is the weakest part of the game, as most of the story is told through notes we find, and it’s not very engaging. Despite this, the game has that Resident Evil vibe that makes you want to keep playing. 6.5/10 For more game recommendations, check out my Steam curator…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An impressive result for a solo devs first full game. Ran into some hurdles whilst playing but the dev is quick and responsive to improving the game. Your money is going to the right place.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Evil Awaits was an awesome experience from start to finish. If your a fan of the classic Resident Evil games , you'll definitely love this. The game has that same tense, creepy atmosphere where your constantly on edge, solving puzzle's, and trying to survive 10/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Evil Awaits, developed and published by Chai Games, is a third-person survival horror title that combines gothic atmosphere, exploration, action combat, and mystery-driven storytelling into a dark and surprisingly ambitious experience. Built around the investigation of a catastrophic incident connected to an ancient family curse, the game embraces many of the classic elements that defined older survival horror titles while adding more modern combat systems and cinematic presentation. The result…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Usually when someone says a game is a "clone" of one game or another it's intended to be a pejorative. So let me change up the language a bit as the last thing I want to do is accidentally offend this developer. This game is very clearly inspired heavily by RE4. The setting, the flow of the gameplay, environments, and lots of small details demonstrate that the dev wasn't trying to hide it. Now, RE4 and RE4R are two of the best games ever made, so it has really big shoes to fill. And…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my search for more of my survival horror itch, I came across this game and decided to give it a shot. Since it is early access, going to be bugs and some jank. I did really enjoy my time with this game. Beat the story in around 4 hours and kept me engaged. It satisfied the cheesy tasty horror that I crave so much, and took my back to a PS2 era of fun. Is it worth $16.99? In my opinion no- Is it worth $10? I would say that is more reasonable. Is it The Killing Antidote levels of gun play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun indie horror title; The game feels like a mix of resident evil and dark souls. The level design is quite good and you'll rarely be lost or walking around for prolonged periods of time. If you're looking for a fun experience to kill a few hours, this game will scratch that itch!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game will lock you out of going to another area if you aren't thorough. During the hedge maze, I did not realize the game would lock me out of areas, so I kept playing. After I got to the miniboss, it did not give me a key to continue as I must have left the key in an area I did not search. This resulted in my game being locked by not getting a key and I would have to restart from last save or restart the game entirely if I had not saved when I could.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Spot on. This little gem of a game was fun and exciting all the way through. With inspiration from classic games coming from horror genre this one is a slow paced action adventure shooter with interesting puzzles, immersive atmosphere, great level design and intense moments. Menu controls are sometimes clunky but it didn't affect the gameplay in any significant way. I'm gonna try the new game plus next just for fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a decent enough game if you can get it at a sale. Main con is that the aiming is straight up bugged. Shotgun literally has no spread and almost acts like a handgun with a kick. The girl deliberately ruins your aiming by trying to move the stupid laser point away from the head of the zombies because of her SHAKY HANDS. You can do a single punch after which there's a dumb cooldown(seriously? A single swing and a cooldown?). Graphics are like a bad upgrade over original RE4. Look I'm not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good solid game.decent weapons plenty to shoot at puzzles could have been a little more difficult.but all around a good time.look forward to this team upping their games to the next level..well done
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are a fan of Resident Evil then you will really love this game! It really is a lot of fun and the level designs are great and you can tell that the developer really put a lot of love into it. There a few minor things that need some fixing but overall this game is solid! I really like the upgrading system and how you can basically upgrade everything from sprinting to your weapons and learning new abilities. This game is worth the money and should be tried by horror fans!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay is solid, combat enjoyable, and ambience spooky, some of the animations/bosses are a bit janky and the game is quite short but survival horror's usually are on the shorter side, quite enjoyed myself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean this with no malice. This is awful. I mean just absolutely terrible in every measurable metric. It's like when you order a REALLY bad movie on bad movie night. Only buy if you're ready to have a terrible time. It's only redeeming quality, honestly, is it has some of that weird ass UE engine asset project charm to it. $5 max.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, I am someone that really appreciate Indie Games espacially made by a small teams or a single person. Furthermore I adore the old survival games and it´s mechanics... So, in this case I have to say I was reallly catched, not only when I played the demo.... Well it's not perfect, but for people who are willling to feel the old vibes it is a nice piece. I just felt very glad when I read there was a patch that regulated the issues I had. So thumbs up and a special thanks to the dev!…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ITS OK I WAS INTO IT JUST NEED TO MAKE THE ANIMATIONS MORE smooth and everything i do if its shooting running walking just feels clunky other than that i like the game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We have Resident Evil at home. It's okay, I think you should take it for what it is, and that's an indie RE clone written in Unreal Engine. The controls are a bit on the janky side, the animations are a bit on the janky side, the sound is a bit on the janky side... But yeah, even with the levels of jank, I enjoyed it enough to complete it. There are much worse games out there for the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buggy as hell beat a boss fight with 2 bosses and was randomly launched into a wall and killed. Avoid game at all costs even on sale
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aiming is frustrating; at times, the crosshair does not indicate where it is aimed, and the laser is unhelpful due to its inaccuracy. Worm bosses are horrible in design, as one of the attacks is literally undodgeable if you don't upgrade the cooldown for dodging to at least level 3. Blocking a player from backtracking to a certain area even though the player might be missing a secret or item stash, I can't go back to the dock even though I obtain the key for something I think can be decent,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far overall I have enjoyed this low-budget Resident Evil clone for what it is. The problems that I have had aren't game-breaking but close, in that I have had to restart the game three times due to it locking up and then losing my progress. Two times it locked up when the character bent down to go underneath low hanging debris and she would never get back up and was stuck in the opening of the debris. The final time was during battling the fire-worm boss and it just froze for no reason.…
