What people are saying
A stylish tower defense roguelite that divides players on grind and RNG.
Many players praise the game's unique blend of tower defense and roguelite mechanics, calling it a fresh and addictive take on the genre. The visuals, soundtrack, and atmosphere are frequently highlighted as appealing. [2][4][6][11][12][18]
However, a significant minority criticizes the game for being overly grindy and heavily reliant on luck, with some feeling that runs are lost due to poor artifact RNG and that meta-progression upgrades are too expensive. A few also mention poor controls or a lack of depth. [1][8][13][29][32][33][34]

Con: - Unlocking permanent upgrades is more grind than a MMORPG. - 90% of my runs are lost because I didn't get lucky enough of artifacts. The boss has way too much HP. - Winning a run doesn't seem to mean anything. At least I am not getting more currencies to afford upgrades. Pro: - It's a unique design, so hopefully the gameplay feeling will get better over time. Edit: - the dev responds to people's questions. And the answers are helpful!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an absolute chore to play, and at no point was I having fun. Less than 40% of players currently have the achievement for completing a single run, because doing so is a tedious slog without enough information to be able to battle against the haphazard randomness and dull design. I am disappointed to have spent 2 hours playing this game, as I feel that was time wasted. But at least I'm one of the <40% to have actually beaten the first level. Uninstalled, hidden, and at some point I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While this is not a bad game, I can't recommend it. It's a massive grind. There is only 3 levels that you need to replay over and over to get materials in order to upgrade your meta-progression to become stronger and you essentially just need to play the same levels over and over to level yourself up until you can beat the harder levels. I do admit that the game's graphics and visuals are stunning and the gameplay loop itself is quite interesting. I especially like how getting an artifact is…

Even though I enjoy them I cant justify $60 games giving me only a few hours of gameplay. So I switched to indie games and I am now satisfied far more frequently with my purchases. I've been meaning to write more reviews in support of those who put love and creativity into their games. I never get around to it but that has to stop now. Once or twice a year there's a game that…

You can tell a lot of passion went into making this. If you love tower defense games, definitely give this one a shot!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After seeing a YouTube video of someone playing the demo, I was very eager to give this game a try. I've played a few of the levels so far and the early levels are fairly easy and get you into the different artefacts you unlock early. The difficulty ramps up quite quick after the 2nd difficulty, which was a very nice change of pace after auto piloting the first few levels. Overall a very nice game and I'm looking forward to completing all the levels and unlocking everything there is to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very surprised by the depth and complexity in this game. I'm still unlocking a lot of mechanics, but the game is very pleasantly more than I expected. Highly recommend if you like accessible but complex roguelike mechanics and tower defense.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a neat atmosphere, with a nice soundtrack and thematic graphics. An interesting combination of different mechanics, including procedural generation, makes it interesting to play again and again, as each round is unique. You can also customize your playthrough by permanent upgrades of your units between the trials and choose different artifacts during the battle. Despite the almost meditative atmosphere, the game actually encourages action, but you should plan carefully to win the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The rarest three achievements are brutally grindy. Also that one where you have to hit 10 supercrits in a row. That achievement really had me using a calculator. I found that having 100% crit chance and 50% supercrit chance will require 1024 hits to yield that achievement. That's doable. The problem with how RNG the game is, getting enough astral halos on a unit is easier said than done. So yeah, 50% crit chance and 25% supercrit chance just won't cut it - that gets you 1 in a billion chance.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a fun experiment in the genre, but the restricted build space, restricted resources and restricted pathing leads to a feeling that you have very few real options with how to play. I think I had my moneys worth, but I would say it doesn't satisfy my tower defense desire, its more of its own type of game. So take that into consideration.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good. Juicy, Simple, Addictive. If you like tower defense and rogue likes -> give it a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower defense is one of my favorite genres and the incorporation of roguelite has really led to some interesting games being created. Everwarder is one of these, blending the two in a very cool way. You basically get to choose which enemies to fight, the path they will take, all while exploring, upgrading, and building up your defenses. The gameplay is a bit chaotic, there is a lot happening on the screen at any given time, but as you gradually get introduced to everything you have more control…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everwarder, developed by qLate and published by indie.io and Paras Games, is a compelling hybrid that expertly weaves together elements of tower defense, roguelite, and survival genres to create a fresh and dynamic strategic experience. Set within procedurally generated environments, the game challenges players to defend a mystical crystal imprisoning a trapped spirit, but it does so with a twist: rather than simply waiting for waves of enemies, players actively control the pace of combat by…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A creative take on Tower Defense. It's fairly casual, and highly polished. Unique selling points Mining is a part of game-play loop (either by placing structures, or manually with your "character") You control the flow of enemies, and the type of enemies that spawn (for the most part) Everything except for the crystal that you need to protect can be moved. Rare approach to in-run upgrades. Your units have colored points, and most upgrades scale off of those. Example 4% Damage for every…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;dr: Very stylish tower defense with a bunch of interesting ideas and some problems. If you are looking for a tower defense game in which everything from the towers and enemies to the levels and the very UI itself is heavily stylized in the same theme, this is the game for you. It offers a very laissez-faire gameplay where you can expand into whichever direction on each level and have to reach certain targets to unlock that level's boss. As time goes on and the more you exand, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Today's indie game is Everwarder! This is a roguelike tower defense game! Spend your energy fighting off the darkness attacking your crystal, either by standing your ground & building up defenses, or by pushing units out into the darkness to harvest more resources! Dev: qLate Link below!
unlabelledView post →A very good game ideal to kill some time. Maxing everything takes about 20 hours of playing, then you can challenge yourself with higher chaos levels. Missions can often be pretty luck-based with your spawn and artifacts. At higher chaos levels firerate becomes more important than your damage (somewhat). Even with oneshotting the enemies, if there's more of them you just have to shoot faster. Unfortunately with that upproach, since it's better to complete the level quicker, so you have to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not the biggest fan of the tower defense genre, and I planned to play this game for 30 minutes max. However, end up playing for almost 2 hours straight and didn't even notice how fast the time passed, so be careful :) Love the colors, details in the graphics and animations, and, of course, the sound effects (I will be the first person to ask when the soundtrack album will be released on Spotify??). Planning to farm enough resources to unlock those cool skins of upgraded units because they…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cannot lie,i like this game very much, isnt like other tower defence i played and it gets grindy(for me its a good think).the point of the game begin around 3 diferent maps that u can play and farm for each diferent material, adn them upgrade your loadout and the gra[hic style is just beatiful. From other point of view for 5-10 euros you can get +50h of playing if you get into it,i would like more game of this same dev and ill hope he gets the attention he deserves.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short roguelite defense game that forces you to balance your time and resources per run. There's only a tutorial and 3 main maps which are all procedurally generated, and most of the gameplay is just about unlocking and upgrading meta progression. Overall, bite-sized fun, but it feels a bit shallow gameplay-wise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the shop it looks like an Action-packed Tower defense. While in the game you are just a white substance hitting walls.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very very fun game. Great mix of real time tower defense and rogue light. The solo creator is also highly responsive, there was some confusion on how enemy scaling worked. I commented on the steam forums and the creator responded directly to me with some tips and within a day issued a patch adding to the tutorial to explain the mechanics better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun tower defense game that feels a little different. Interesting enough mechanics to learn to get some joy out of.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Of course!! I'm making a mazing multi-waypoint tower defense game with fog of war mechanics, I'm following a couple other TD devs (check out Emberward, Everwarder, Isle of Arrows, Islets defense for modern takes on the genre). The more the merrier!
unlabelledView post →So far this game is beautiful. A little bit slow, and some of the control design needs work, but otherwise incredibly solid and there's quite a lot of content. I'm only two hours in but I can definitely see another 20-25 hours. The PC and the areas that you can't physically pass need a little more contrast. Sometimes it's difficult to know where I am or what I'm walking through.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gonna change this review in the next few hours, I'm very excited to give it a go! Controller support coming soon?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boss health scaling ruins this game for me, unless i speedrun every level i faill pretty much all the time. It's best to summon boss early with minimal upgrades under 10min (even better around 5min). Playing at regular pace waiting to get some upgrades always failed a level for me, boss just tanks it all with 50% hp left.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the visuals are alluring and surprisingly very appealing, but that's as far as I can really praise this game. there is absolutely nothing special going on here, the game feels like... a game I guess? it's not really super engaging nor exceptional in anything it does. in the few hours I played it really did not capture me at all and I did not feel a sense of drive to keep playing, and if anything it was quite the opposite, so much so that it genuinely feels like a chore to play. the game is…

unlabelledView post →Bought this not expecting much, particularly disliking the luck-based Roguelike format. I was pleasantly surprised. This plays oddly similar to the Creeper World series, but definitely its own flavor. You can complete maps at your own pace, but that doesn't mean you want to, because slower pace eventually brings stronger enemies and lower resource efficiency, ultimately, plus the map sections will regrow over time. My main complaint would be unit balance to this point, as the expensive…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's refreshing at first, but soon becomes a slog.. you'll never upgrade your units to any interesting degree and the out of game upgrades are insanely expensive, I'm talking it'll take you an hour to upgrade one unit or thing. But it's cheap.

We have levels on units, upgrades on units, random maps, resource collecting, meta progression upgrades in different directions, the usual roguelite trait upgrades, towers have stats... pretty sure there are a lot of things I missed also. That said I really hope this game takes off. It is the best TD I have played in a long time and even if I only have 5 hours it feels like I have just scratched the surface…
