So I've played this game for over 23 hours over the course of 3 weeks. I've played so many early access games and hate to leave a negative review, mainly because I know it's still in its early stages of development. But this game left me feeling so excited and hopeful, only to be disappointed and downright frustrated that I spent so much time on it in the end. PROS: 1. Cute story line, you genuinely want to unlock the mystery of this town and what's going on in the underworld 2. Cute 2D style…

First of all, the designers of this game deserve congratulations, the game is gorgeous. The story starts very interesting and then.. nothing happens. Finish the first tier of the underworld? Nothing happens. No one recognizes it. Get some hearts with an NPC? Nothing happens. The story just dies and you have a bunch of quests like "do 20 board quests", or "build a barn" which don't seem to forward the story at all, they just get replaced by the next one which you need even more money to…

"Toss a coin to your… Bard… oh valley of… something." Everholm is a beautiful farming sim with solid gameplay and polished animations, but fails to deliver the story that I purchased it for. I think it's a good fit for the right audience (see "Final Thoughts" below for the tldr), but I'm personally not willing to commit another 50 hours to it. What Worked For Me ✅ Controls are intuitive and easy to learn on both keyboard and X-Box controller. Even the fishing minigame isn't bad. ✅ This…

The game is a fine functioning farming sim, but it has too many issues for me. Both minor and major. The game has a LOT of room for improvements in my opinion. - No story? You're sister is missing and you wake up in a town where everyone knows you but you don't know anyone... better start farming! - UI is generally too small and unorganized, You have a compendium with over 800 things which only displays 16 at a time and you can't sort. You can only craft one thing at a time, which sucks for…

I've clocked over 1,000 hours in Stardew Valley. This one is gonna be my new go-to. The amount of love and care going into this game is incredible. The graphics and atmosphere are the best I've ever seen, HUGE range of crops, CUTEST animal designs (even beating Fields of Mistria), a novel but forgiving combat system where some monsters can spurt out little spores you have to avoid. This is a game that has paid attention to the Quality of Life desires that a lot of other farming sims have had…

Usually I prefer to play a lot more of a game before leaving a review, but I'm honestly not sure if I'll have the motivation to keep going much farther. This was kind of an impulse buy because the day 1 reviews were really positive, with the only major complaint I saw being the controller controls (I play on keyboard and mouse). After about a week and a half in game I was about ready to quit, I really wasn't enjoying it at all. I decided to give it a little longer and I while I have started to…

So far I would have to say this game is boring. You get an interesting start but then ... nothing. I've been running around with no direction, no guidance trying to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing and it's not very much fun. The controls are horrible. It's clearly a PC only game. When you are in the store you can't see the whole screen. Yeah, can I alter that? Probably. But I shouldn't have to. If you like wandering around aimlessly with no point to a game be my guest. This is…

The good: The aesthetics and art style of this game are absolutely perfect, I love the look of it. The not-so-good: I've now played a good bit and am finding the game to be pretty seriously lacking. Unlike other farm management games, there's no additional tasks past tending to your farm, crafting, fishing, mining, and socializing. No leveling system, no collecting, no character customization, nada. The game is marketed with this idea of looking for a lost sister, but you go weeks and weeks…

I hate to give this one a "not recommended" but it's just okay in a genre that has a lot of greats. Everholm is a very pretty game and I love the visuals and styling, but it left me wanting a lot in terms of the gameplay and progression. The initial gameplay loop was familiar and great: start building a farm, upgrade your tools, meet and do quests for the townspeople, etc. Avoiding specific spoilers but the story started off strong. Where it started to fall apart for me was when it quickly…

Steam Deck players beware: Despite the Steam Deck Compatibly marked as "playable", it is not. Basic controls are NOT accessible when playing via steam deck. To see the UI, you have to zoom out to 14-16% of the full UI scale, which makes everything very small and difficult to read. You cannot split items in your inventory or chests without a mouse and keyboard. The rest of the controls are janky all around. For example, I had to turn off the fishing mini game because sometimes pressing "A"…

I can't play without feeling nausea. I played on 13 Gen 40 series, so not sure why it stutter so bad during moving around. Never have problem with this art style. So I am sad that I have to requested a refund for now. I will still click recommend but if you are prone to motion sickness ( nausea ) I think just keep checking if they fix ( or find a way to fix it )

The farming experience in Everholm Everholm has solid and original farming sim mechanics with good quality of life. For example naming your chests and the label pops up when you approach them, having a spell to water your plants, birds dropping an item that helps with plant growth speed, the setting to make the days longer etc. Even watering the plants with the basic watering tool works very smoothly as your character can stay at the same place while watering adjacent tiles. Really, this should have been listed as an Early Access release. Even between now and when the game came out so much has been changed, updated, added and balanced out. The Devs are constantly in contact on the Discord group, working out the bugs and taking on suggestions. Right now the base game is there, the visuals are super cute, it just needs a bit more content - which we know is coming. So if you brought this game right away and didn't think much of it, I'd implore you to try it again. And…

I played 56 hours and am currently in spring, second year. This early access is obviously way too very early. There is not that much to see yet and those few things are bugged into eternity. It feels like there are a loads of patches and fixes neccessary to even get to the point when you can call it early access. I dont mind the missing content and explanations, not accessable areas, one sentenced characters and all that. Prepare to: - Loose sh-loads of Items - yes even halfway "important"…

Yes I recommend it, but wait for some more updates is my suggestion! The game is made by a small group of developers, the game says they work with 5 man. I love the whole setting of the game, but it lacks some stuff. Absolutely amazing game from such a small team! The game is a lot of fun, and I stopped for now, as, even it being released, it does not have a museum or cooking. All I did so far was ramping up money from a really nice amount of farming options. And you can tell that I've spent a lot of time in it (half of it I was afk though). But the more I played, the more it felt like it should have been in early access. I even wondered if the reason I didn't see that it was in early access was because I already bought the game. So I even signed out to see. It needs quite a bit of work. Really wanted to like this game as the premise sounds interesting and the artstyle is adorable with such attention to detail <3 But the game is pretty much unplayable via controller (and because of that, via steam deck as well). The controls and sensitivity are just off making simple tasks like fishing, foraging, farming etc, very annoying and time consuming. For some reason, you focus on one tile and you are interacting with the one next to it. The sensitivity, for me at least, seems too high…

Sadly this is basically a bad clone of Stardew Valley. Story is weak, there are many issues with UX, combat is uninteresting, characters forgettable... I can go on. It is pretty and feels modern in some ways but I feel the team did not appreciate all the little things that make such a game enjoyable. I've trying to play day after day in the hopes that things would get better but I've lost hope.

I was looking for a game similar to Sun Haven and was sadly disappointed with this one, the extremely cute graphics pull you in but it's very slow and boring, not much to do from the start. Needs a bit more direction at the beginning, stronger story and path to take. Also would be cool to add a rolling mechanic or something that allows the character to roll or jump, just seems a lil dull in terms of player mechanics compared to how colorful and lively the art seems on the surface.

Unfortunately this game just doesn't have much new to offer someone who's put 300 hours into Stardew and other Stardew-likes like Wylde Flowers. Hell, Wylde flowers had much more story and magic element to it. I really want to support indie devs but I'm not crazy about this game. It was fun for the first season and half, then just felt repetitive, and the QoL issues make it less enjoyable to play and lowers the tolerance for frustration. With that said, in it's current state I cannot recommend the game to those on Steamdeck or who will be using controller. This is a great game with a few exceptions. Firstly, the story seems pointless. It starts off interesting and then it quickly doesn’t matter at all and makes it feel more of a sandbox game with the occasional fetch quest and a short list of objectives to complete over time. Secondly, there is a lot in the game that is unexplained to you and because it’s still a new game it’s difficult to find guides. A Not So Cozy Story You are taking a walk in nature looking for your sister. Suddenly a terrifying creature pulls you through a giant portal. It seems real enough, but it couldn’t be. They start with a story blip and then they expect you to ignore all that and farm and forage and fish. All fine activities - but why? I stuck it out until the "mine" opened up and can't find the motivation to play again. A fine example of a game that replicated good mechanics, promised a new interesting hook (spooky! Mystery story!), then doesn't understand how to tie the game loop together with its hook to become interesting.

I think this one just isn't for me :( It's very pretty but the diagonal view does not do well with my eyes. Controls are pretty wonky- the way you have to hold and scroll to split stack an item is so silly to me. It's so hard to determine what is foragable and what isn't.

Absolutely love this game! I love the flow, I love the music and chill vibes, and I love the community that have built up around it! The artwork is super cute and the mechanics are well thought out. If you have issues with your game, if you reach out to the Devs on discord, they are happy to take feedback and help you to the best of their ability. Honestly one of the best games I've bought this year. 10/10 recommend!
