He was sued, but that lawsuit is now why games like Bloodstained or Mighty No. 9 or Eiyuden Chronicle can exist now, due to precedent. Oh, and Tear Ring Saga is great in its own right.

I love how it uses all the systems that I know from playing Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes like how you upgrade your weapons & recruit people. It’s just a super chill JRPG & I respect it. ❤️🫶🏻

So, if you're planning on playing Hundred Heroes I can recommend this one prior to it. It is a light introduction to its world and to some characters, though it is not necessary at all. It will help you understand some little optional details/references and characters on the next game, so 100% skippable. It will take you like 10-12h and around 17h with post-game content…

No, but I enjoyed it! 8/10!It’s a must play if you’re a fan of the Suikoden series. Thank you Murayama-sama for creating this gem. RIP 🙏✨

unlabelledView post →I really like Eiyuden Chronicle but it was a very frustrating moment because I’m pretty good at videogames, competent at least and the gimmick of the game is that there are 100 party companions and just about every one of them was looking at me like “fuck is this guy doing?”
unlabelledView post →The game's main mechanic is extremely boring. You're basically farming a few very limited and constricted zones for materials so you can upgrade buildings in a town. That's the whole game right there. You can't plan ahead, you can't farm more to win some time, there are tons of gating systems in place to prevent you doing so. Ex. very limited storage bag for materials that you need to empty by leaving the dungeon and come back. As soon as you have the requirements for some quest, you'll be…

Go to the area, get stuck and go back to town, then go back and continue a little only to go back to town and repeat the whole thing over. The stories just so slow moving the amount of backtracking you do is ridiculous. There are hundreds of side quest but they aren't varied outside the same basic ones like fetch quests, collecting resources, or talking to different NPCs. Each character has one…

unlabelledView post →Well, after i finished 100% of this game it's time for a review :D First and foremost: I tend to enjoy grindy games from time to time, so i spend more time here than the average to do the 100% achievements. If you're old like me and remember games like "Ragnarok Offline" or the newer "Dust: An Elysian Tail": This is quite comparable. It's a little sidescrolling hack'n'slash RPG that evolves solely around slaying enemies and collection ressources for quests. It's centered around a single town…

This game was fun, but it didn't hook me like the others from the other series. Lot of potential if they continue with future games, and I do recommend this if you love RPGs
unlabelledView post →Very nice character development and funny dialogue and amazing environment design and visuals, but the gameplay loop is one entirely of repetition and grinding the exact same areas, the exact same enemies, over and over in order to amass resources to complete quests and acquire stamps needed for game progression. Redeeming qualities are the various abilities, weapons and armour, and magic system, which are very well-developed and fun to use.

unlabelledView post →A small game that overstays its welcome. What should have been 3-5 hours has dragged on for more than 10. The game tries to be a platformer, a sidescroller fighter, and an RPG with resource gathering all at once, and ends up doing none of them well. The different characters you can switch between have too different ways of moving, and some enemies have a special ability that makes you unable to switch characters(while switching charcters is a requirement to do combo attacks in battle,…

unlabelledView post →It's a simple and short JRPG. Takes like 10-11 hours to complete if you do every quest, and probably an extra 5-ish to 100% judging from what I see in the postgame content. Don't expect anything mindblowing with the plot, this is really like 90% zany villagers fetch quests and 10% actual story. 7/10, though if you don't like doing a TON of fetch quests (like at least 100 of them) I wouldn't recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game should be taken for what it is: an appetizer for Hundred Heroes. The game is short, a bit clumsy (meh animations, meh jump mechanics and feel), very very simple (I never died, nor did I ever need to heal during battle), with characters that might be amusing but are stereotypical. And yet, all things considered, it works (helped by the low price, of course): the story has that final twist that leaves you with a happy smile on your face despite everything. The game flows smoothly with…

unlabelledView post →Half this game is one long, drawn-out fetch quest with a serviceable plot, charming characters, and some excellent combat. As someone who completed the least completed achievement in the game with cheesing at level 40, it made me satisfied, but also question how far I had to go to be in this spot, if I had a way to do it faster and simpler. The levels become a chore to cross, the main quests are really short with the side stuff padding the game's runtime by a mile, and the payoff may not…

Take this game as the "Ground Zeroes" of Metal Gear Solid V, this is just an intro for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, but instead the intro game is focused on side-scrolled action game rather the turn-based like the main game. But, well, as its own game, it share its own fun. Easy 100% completion. Story Review : Well, most of the time story revolved…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The fact that you literally collect stamps in order to progress slowly through the world is hilariously on the nose. A brilliant metaphor if it was on purpose. But I doubt it. The game is actually quite serviceable. well written and beautifully realized but the gameplay is SO BORING. Sincerely from someone who completed the game. It does NOT respect your time. Gameplay: Playing the game feels like playing a Megaman level, getting a fourth of the way and running back. Dozens of Cutscenes. Repeat that about five times. Then you fight the Boss. Then do that about eh, five times again. Just... why?! Let me complete Levels and do content AND THEN you can rail me with…
