Review by [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/34633003-Gaming-Masterpieces/lists/] Gaming Masterpieces - The greatest games of all time on Steam. Is this game a masterpiece? A pretty woman awakes on a hospital bed with complete amnesia. Noone seems to be around. She walks along the empty hospital corridors, which are blocked with furniture and equipment, with only one way always open to continue. Talk about tube levels... hotspots are shown when she approaches them, which can be…

Edengate looks amazing and has great voiceacting, but thats where the positives stop. The story it tries to tell is simply not there, its all really random and makes absolutely no sense. First you wake up and have amnesia, you dont remember anything, but somehow you do remember everything? Theres memories you come across, giving you information, but she also weirdly starts remembering people and things that werent shown in said memory. Its inconsistent with everything. Its "platforming",…

Pretty much the only positive thing that I can say about this game is that the soundtrack does a good job of generating a dense atmosphere. The game is very short, which is fine at that price point, however, I cannot understand why this game is tagged as "story rich" -- there are only a bunch of very loosely connected memory fragments from the protagonists past to be found, but I fail to "connect the dots" here and I cannot make any sense out of it and I fail to figure out how these memories…

Considering indie games are always usually a labor of love I tend to be a bit more lenient towards them. EDENGATE: The Edge of Life has fantastic voice acting, great graphics, and a decent enough story which leaves a lot up for interpretation. The gameplay feels smooth and most environments are very atmospheric and visually striking. Check it out. You really can't beat it for the price - well worth it.

Playable character, has to follow a predetermined path. Visually the game doesn’t look bad and it even has some impressive moments. and Puzzles should challenge the player a little. Very Short confusing story. Not much happens while playing and you are forced to deal with some boring puzzles.

I've completed the game in around 1:30, this is not really why I'm on the fence about the recommendation, being a story driven game with no real gameplay loop, that story was in major part left to interpretation, but for me, not in a good way. I got the idea they were trying to convey, but a lot of detail had no explanation at all (or I could not understand anything about them) and in the end made the story too simple. It's not really a bad thing, just not my cup of tea in the end. Hoo and…

After 2 hours to complete this game, i am still wondering if it was worth playing it. I am not sure. It's very beautiful, but the story is unclear and those 2 hours were in fact too much, as there isn't so much to do except walking from one point to another. Perhaps you will still like it, but i can't really recommend this game...

I will begin by saying I love walking sims. I love story rich games where that's the main point, and just exploring and interacting with the environment while the story plays out. But for a walking sim to be good, I feel like there needs to be more explorability or things to interact with, that also tell the story. This game is incredibly linear. I don't mind linear games at all, but like in a whole hospital only one door opens? c'mon give me something more to look at. While I'm ok with stories…

Full gameplay: https://youtu.be/CvOPRY_2gAU It is a walking simulator with story telling. There were couple of puzzles like finding codes and working with machines which were pretty easy and not that challenging or engaging. Game can be finished around 90 minutes. From story stand point I didn't understand it fully. I think I got what it was trying to say but at same time game left many unanswered questions that I was really hoping to find answers. Visually game looked Okay but even with…

I'm going to give this game a bad review because it was honestly pretty bad.. the only things I enjoyed were the visuals and sound design. The story and gameplay are awful and boring as hell! I went back to some of the chapters to collects things I missed and it was such a drag to play through it again.. it's the embodiment of walking simulator, with the occasional puzzle thrown in (usually a code that can be found on a piece of paper or a book nearby) I know the game is pretty cheap but I…

It's a well polished game that feels good to play and has some interesting ideas. It's hard giving this a rating, I would prefer to give it a "mixed" review. It's a beautiful game if you have the specs to run it. I can see a lot of AAA dna in it, but the story unfortunately leaves more to be desired. The game starts off strong but doesn't really surprise anymore at the ending.

I feel like this game would have done better if it had been marketed as more of a walking-sim with a dark story. The "adventure" tag is somewhat misleading. That being said, if you are interested in a sombre indie game with great graphics and no combat, this is worth picking up on sale. It is really short and can easily be completed in one sitting, so it works as a great palate cleanser when you are in-between two big games. I would like to point out that the story can seem a bit obscure (I…

It's okay I guess. Graphics and animations are surprisingly good for an indie title. The voice acting is solide and the atmosphere okay. But on the other hand it's an undemanding walking sim. The only button you use is the A Button on an gamepad (beside the sticks). The riddles are not worth mentioning and the story not really existing and yet confusing. It takes maybe 1,5h to beat. Wasn't it so cheap, I would not recommend it.

This is a solid walking sim with some very light puzzles. The story unpacks each time you find a memory and you're presented with a flashback of the past. Other than the memories, there's little to interact with besides finding some collectables and solving the simplest of puzzles, which is usually solving a door code or moving this or that in order to proceed. The visuals and audio in this game are really impressive for an indie title and the eye candy is what did it for me. A lot of labour…

Not really sure what to think of the game at this point, graphics are decent, some fps drops but still stable. Opening doors is kinda weird though and i thought it was pressing the button but you need to press and hold.. placement of objects in the world seem a bit off and just weird.. but this is not a real reason to not recommend. For the price it is well worth it imo. I will update after beating but right now just a bit confused at to whats the story.

This such a nice walking simulator, because it let players reflect about how mental health is important and how bad can be if people don't take care of it. Regarding the game design, this topic could be designed in a better way, for example touching more players' emphaty.

Edengate: The Edge of Life is an indie thriller walking sim with puzzles to figure out to progress in the game. You play as the female protagonist, Mia Lorenson who wakes up in an abandoned hospital. The game has a good storyline and the graphics run smooth as well (I played both the PC and Xbox Series S version) and it is well worth picking up especially while it is on sale. Overall I rate this game 8/10

A hidden gem! The game has eerie atmosphere and the world building while it is fairly narrow it still leaves room for some exploration. Lovely voice acted characters and the overall feeling of the game felt well polished There's no combat so if you want a chill/relaxing experience then this is for you. The game is short but the low price and production value makes it an easy recommendation for anyone that enjoys games with great storytelling.

Played on Linux using Proton Exp, Really enjoyed this Game, Just wished the Game was a bit longer, Graphics are Good, Sound is Really Good, Voice Acting not to bad at all, It's a little bit more then a walking sim as you do need to move objects to get to higher place/across a gap/over a wall/etc, and also you can move Lights to make a passage, Read Notes, Touch Ghostly Objects to see the story of Mia, and some coded locks so you need to find the code, work out the code, etc. But even with the…

A soft recommendation Edengate is a quite short (2-3 hours) walking simulator with a story that leaves a much room for interpretation and some shortcomings that lead to an average experience. Many sections of the game lead the player through narrow passages which consist of copy and pasted assets. The beginning of the game takes place in an hospital and there are literally hundreds of copy-pasted hospital beds and wheelchairs - this feels very cheap and uninspired. I use to call games…

Edengate: The Edge of Life is an extremely linear game. There's only ever one way to go as you travel through corridors and from one room to another, first in an apparently abandoned hospital, and then in a vast and seemingly endless bioengineering facility. You spend a brief time outside, which is cluttered with abandoned vehicles, but again, there's always only one way to go, i.e. the next building you need to enter. Your character is a young scientist named Mia, who is alone in these…

While graphically pleasing, this game was not scary and lost me within the frist 30min of playing it. There was no urgency, no threat, and no real plot at all. The premise is sold as waking up in a hospital with no memory, which has promise. But the game that followed is an example of a bad execution of a good premise.

Another walking simulator with primitive puzzles. The game was undoubtedly influenced by COVID-19. And that was the last interesting fact about Edengate. Here you won't get a complete story, only images where mystic events intertwine with scientific elements. We play for a scientist named Mia. She is a genius, as the game says. And she also has parapsychic abilities to see past objects. Sounds better than it is. She doesn't know where she's got it, and she doesn't care. No explanations, no…

First off, Edengate is basically a walking simulator with some puzzles. However the environments and lighting are very well done, and the tone and mood do the trick. The story is largely Resident Evil-ish with hints of F.E.A.R. Graphically the only draw back is that the MC isn't as polished as the world around her, and considering most of the game is just watching her walk around that should have been a bit more of a focus. Overall though the great voice acting and low price point makes this an…

The puzzles aren't difficult but mechanics keep it fresh. The atmosphere is just creepy enough to keep you on edge and I did have a few jumpscares. Great atmosphere and music, nice assets and storytelling. However, as as others have pointed out, this is very much like a walking simulator with a interpretative story. I think most people are missing what this "game" is about. It is not a game, it is a story about real life. It has an inconclusive ending and somewhat veiled story because that's the way life can be, and usually is. We are generally the ones who least understand our own lives. One of the most honest approaches to life as it can be, not as we want it to be. Mia may have killed herself or been killed for what she knew, if than was even real and not a fantasy in her own mind. She had pain and…
