James clearly reading from a script to insult Dustborn, a game he clearly knows nothing about, at an event he’s clearly only in because Screenwave and Screw Attack people are involved with it
unlabelledView post →AVGN being furious about Dustborn (an undersold indie game) because it has queer non-white people in it is an absolute barrel-scraping low. I guess we do know James Rolfe now. We just wish we didn't.
unlabelledView post →Just noticed that losers have even been review-bombing Dustborn on IMDB. A sparklng 2.1/10 score. It's the same story anywhere you can leave a review without buying it Can you imagine being that pathetic? To be SO furious that an indie game you've never played contains minorities that you do that?
unlabelledView post →And yes, I have played and wrote about Dustborn. I thought it was pretty neat, although the combat (a pretty minor part, it's ilke 80% Telltale adventure, 15% action, 5% rhythm game) was a bit flat I also got harrassed for a month solid for writing this article. Just TALKING about it got bigots mad
unlabelledView post →Very boring. You have no idea about the story, the objective, or even what the protagonist is thinking. The characters are annoying, flat, boring, and unlikeable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just for the record, Dustborn is a small indie game about a bunch of queer weirdos (most of them with superpowers) on a road-trip through alt-universe America. It's a Telltale style adventure with some light combat bits. Some people completely lost their minds and made their personality hating it.
unlabelledView post →I got this as a gift from a friend. I want my money back. This honestly is the worst experience I've played. Choices don't matter, you're always a ♥♥♥♥, and I honestly wish the entire cast besides whatever that guy's name is again to just... drive off a bridge or something. They are all insufferable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is absolutely true. Last year I was trying to find some videos about the game Dustborn because I was curious about it and wanted to learn more about it. All I found were ragebait videos yelling about how “woke” it was. Couldn’t find a single, clearheaded person just talking about it.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Originally, I decided to play this game because I thought the idea of the road trip was fascinating. I also liked the originality of the artwork; it was like reading a comic book. Other than that, I enjoyed nothing in the game. The story was uninteresting and I never really got involved in it. I kept playing, of course, but only to realize, at every step of the way, that it was basically an incoherent narrative, in that the characters engage in purposeless activities and a lot of aimless…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game took a part of my life that I can never get back. Its not even worth to play it as a meme. This game is ass and don't ever play it even if you are gifted it. Also spoilers but there's an easter egg achievement if you change the batteries on the smoke detector. Good luck to those who will find it for their 100% completion.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dustborn is 70% off on Steam this week — CRIMINALLY cheap but if more people get to play the game, that's a good thing. We've made a TON of changes since launch & more are coming VERY soon, so this is the perfect time to board the bus from Pacifica to Nova Scotia with Pax & her crew.
unlabelledView post →I assumed it had been review-bombed because of the LGBTQ characters, but no I'm not enjoying this. I played for a couple of hours and it felt like a cut scene that never ends. Both the story and the game seem quite ambitious, and I kind of wish I could continue. Maybe someone who has played games like Life Is Strange would have an easier time (I didn't get very far in that game either). My main problem is that the characters don't interact and talk like normal people. They are incredibly toxic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A generally annoying, boring and stupid experience. I bought this to play with some buddies after hearing it was bad and after what felt like 10+ hours, only an hour and a half had passed. it's just awful. Awful writing and terrible attempts at humour. The characters are incredibly annoying and unlikeable; it also has a wholly uninspired story that constantly seems to dodge around the topic at hand. Decisions you make feel unimportant/unimpactful as you mostly just whittle down all of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Picked it up on a deep sale after kinda liking the demo. Should’ve trusted my gut. The game’s just… dull, with no bite. The cast drove me up the wall. Endless tantrums from Sai, shallow dialogue, and everyone dunking on each other nonstop, especially Theo. For what? For not being anomal? For actually organizing the whole operation so the crew gets paid? For fixing everyone’s personal drama? Pax, the MC, is constantly cranked to irritated. I don’t need sunshine and rainbows, but give me…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game ranks among the worst I've ever played. The characters suck; they are straight-out annoying. Someone told me this is as good as Road 96, AND IT'S NOT! NOT EVEN CLOSE. I WOULD RATHER PLAY WITH FREAKING POGS THAN CONTINUE PLAYING THIS HONK OF TRASH. I couldn't even last 2 hrs playing this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have mixed feelings on this. So many people reviewed this game, saying how bad it was and everything. I would watch reviews and gameplay to get an idea, and I couldn't get anything past people whining about how "woke" it was (ugh, hearing that word on the internet used incorrectly to this day is still triggering to me), and blah blah blah. I had to see it and play it for myself. Luckily, it went on sale for $3, so I had no excuse but to try it for myself. After finishing it, I can say that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is actually the worst game ever created, the characters are all insufferable, the story is making me want to rip out my eyes and chew on them and the fighting is horrendous. Do not make the same mistake as me and buy this abomanation
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh yeah, and they're doing what they did with Dustborn. Legions of weird freaks buying a game just so they can leave an angry review to try and tank its Steam visibility. Because that's a normal thing you do when a game exists that you don't like.
unlabelledView post →This game is a mess. It's a genre mashup and it doesn't really do anything well. I can't really get behind any of the characters as they are all pretty unlikeable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The outrage grift always needs a new enemy. Last month it was Relooted. This month it’s 1348 Ex Voto. Next month it’ll be another game, lazily dubbed Dustborn 2 or Concord 2 for clicks. Same cycle every time: manufacture controversy, feed the pile-on, cash in.
unlabelledView post →Soooo... It is a game, like a game made in like a studio umm... As a LGBTQA+ member those chaarcters were... Indeed chaarcters? Like they were there? they are... Yes. They are :3 I would prefer to eat rocks than play this game, it was unbearable, I felt like pushing through a swamp trying to feel the story That's what's wrong, it was just SO BORING, not engaging, none of the characters were memorable, me and my friend who are like, the gayest of gays didn't enjoy those gays :< It was 5/10 in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dustborn is finally out on GOG.com — and getting review-bombed, since GOG doesn't require ownership to rate a game. Interesting to see the ratio: 4.8/5 from owners, 1.7 from non-owners. Which, y'know, is telling. Absolutely loving the quality of the one-star reviews, too, truly biting criticism.
unlabelledView post →This game is a joke, right? I went into this with an open mind, despite the negative buzz, in hopes, that it might not be as bad as some have painted it to be. And it's actually not...........it's far worse. I'll just get the positive out of the way - the comic book style visuals are actually kind of nice. Those are all the good things i can think of. The story follows Pax and her friends in this dystopian alternative version of America, She is an anomal, which, in this universe, I guess,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game during the Winter Sale because it was only £2.50 and because of the poor reviews back when it released. My goal was to achieve 100% completion in this game to display it as a funny juxtaposition on my Steam profile right next to the FromSoftware games I platted. I was surprised by how bland the gameplay is and how poorly written characters in a game can be; it was truly a test of character for me to complete this game. I'd say this game destroys one's psyche more than any…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aight, buckle in. The discourse over this game was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid. If you unironically use the word 'woke' you can check out here because I ain't one of you. I finished this game and my thoughts are that this game is controversial for two reasons. First it is currently controversial for a game to be anything other than a 0 or a 10. Either it's the worst game ever or its the best game ever. But I remember the PS2 Era, the Xbox 360 era. An era of what we call 'Double A' games. Dustborn is...…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have thought about dropping my self-inflicted aspiration to only rate games I have actually finished more than once while playing this. + Comic style + Dialoges feel natural, it's really nice that some answers go away if you wait to long. You often have the freedom to interrupt or let something go + Objectives fit well into the comic style + People will turn down gifts if you try to give them something in the wrong situation - Incredibly cringe - Lots of temper tantrums (Sai!) -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The worst choice-based game I've played this is so boring and nothing happens except playing random ass music
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the most fascinatingly awful video games I have ever played. A game that fails so hard on its intended goals, basic gameplay, fundamental quality control and everything in between that there is only one comparison from a very different genre that comes to mind. In 2008, the game Rock Revolution was released by Konami. Konami created Guitar Freaks, the original game that Guitar Hero based its gameplay on, yet Rock Revolution ended up as a cheap, broken copy of its sucsesor as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some people are genuinely deranged. This is a user review of Draugen. Not Dustborn. Draugen: a game set in 1920s Norway with zero "propaganda", unless you count "mountains and fjords are real pretty" as propaganda. Oh, and play Draugen! It's a neat little mystery, perfect October entertainment.
unlabelledView post →Chucked checked the game's Twitter and they're QTing a guy who keeps harrassing a woman, to mock fucking Dustborn, a game no one but these losers care about Sucks ass
unlabelledView post →So, where do I even start? If we manage to put aside the forced inclusivity - constant lines like ‘you’re free to be whoever you are,’ ‘choose your pronouns,’ ‘your appearance doesn’t define you,’ and similar messages that flood you from the prologue onward - the game is actually very enjoyable from a narrative standpoint, at least until Chapter 7. There’s a HUGE mystery, unanswered questions that genuinely pull you in, the identity of the missing girl, the origin of the Vox, the heist plan,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Or the chuds' whipping post of choice, Dustborn, a game that is only still relevant because they won't shut up about it
unlabelledView post →First of all a part of this game worth talking about is that it ended up in the middle of a bunch of culture war nonsense, meaning most discourse around it is irrelevant to actually discussing the game's potential and short comings. There are a few things the game does well, primarily its world building and aesthetics with an interesting world and beautiful visuals and artstyle. The big problem is the story, it feels disjointed we have two plots, a resistance plot to deliver a mcguffin to a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was interested in the game, but there is a forced always on vibration function and it vibrates every few seconds like heartbeat or something which is very distracting and I have wrist issues and cannot tolerate vibrations without cause pain, so I have to recommend against the game based on lack of user functionality options to customize the experience for people with disabilities, chronic pain, etc., which may seem petty to some, but I am a primary care provider and allowing medically…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game could have been good…but it’s all such a mess…the dialogue, the writing, the game play mechanics, the overall narrative. It’s basically one mistake after another. It’s infuriating. The game shows so much promise, I love the cell shaded graphical style, loved the character design, the way the dialogue system works is fantastic. There are times where actually letting people talk gives you new information instead of just immediately saying the first thing that comes to your…

unlabelledView post →Yes. And for a game the size/scope of Dustborn with 20+ hours of scripted narrative, fully voiced, that is indeed “staggeringly low”. Which makes it even more heartbreaking to be lumped together with games that literally cost 20-50x as much. Dustborn was never designed to compete with AAA titles.
unlabelledView post →This might be the most painful thumbs down I've ever given a game. I wanted to like this game so much. I loved the Dreamfall saga and as such I was really looking forward to trying Red Thread's next game. And this game does a lot of things well: The art style is great Character relationships are not just a bar ranging from hate to love, but rather a more complex system where each choice pushes your connection in a different direction, affecting how they behave. Very cool mechanic I'd love to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have, I have finally done it: I finished the most wokest game, or so they said 2 years ago. Divided America, 2030. Ever since Jackie got killed instead of Kennedy in Dallas on 11/22/63, the country was never the same again. Multiple states seceded, and there are now blue Rocketeer sturmtruppen casually roaming the street with their APCs and VTOLs in what remains of the former USA, with other weird actors like Mad Max biker gangs and knockoff Ollie's viltrumite tron warriors from California…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We put together a new Dustborn demo, and it's live on Steam! The demo includes the first two chapters (sorry, "issues") of the story, and your save file carries over into the full game — if you decide to buy. This is your chance to take Dustborn for a spin, no strings attached!
unlabelledView post →If everyone with an opinion had played Dustborn, we'd all be millionaires. But if they'd ACTUALLY played the game, there wouldn't be nearly as much discourse, because there's honestly not that much to be upset about. Unless their whole thing is that "authoritarianism is good, actually"…
unlabelledView post →all of the characters are incredibly cringe
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think theres a thing with Eurodevs especially where rather than realize their game sucks they just defiantly drive straight into a brick wall. Dustborn also has this feeling.
unlabelledView post →i've been looking for a game to play and I lost interest in Hollow Knight so I booted Dustborn and found myself enjoying the first hour of it which makes me think my taste was cosmically designed to annoy strangers on the internet. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only good thing about this game is its low price when it's on sale. The combat, story, character design, and soundtrack are all terrible. As a road-trip adventure game, it can't hold a candle to Road 96. Not worth playing at all.

They may as well not exist the moment the game awards end.
