60 of 118 · most liked firstI love that game so much and style such wonderful But why not recommended? well reason is it Short Mission. You could finish it about 6 - 7 hours so... not worth for 40€ for short game but it might worth if sale i guess I could glad and recommended if it has longer mission and more fun :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually not the worst franchise game I played. Sure, I definitely admit, reduced to its core, it’s (like every representative of this genre) a pretty mediocre game, mostly held together by the famous characters and likable images. And what it delivers gameplay-wise is exactly the stuff you would expect from an average action adventure, that is, an easy short-to-medium-length mix of puzzles and fighting, which probably on the plus side might indeed be very good for young children to kill time…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The thing is, I would definitely recommend this game for a httyd fan, but not so much for someone just looking for an adventure/puzzle game. If that's the case, then your looking in the wrong spot. This game is about the dragons and if you like the movies a lot like me, its gonna be a lot more enjoyable. Now let me go over the pros and cons of this game: Pros: -Very pleasant art style that reminds me of some sort of Zelda game -New music that fits the Httyd series -Decent puzzles (although…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →flying your dragon is cool, the puzzles are a little simple but they're fun, the artstyle and soundtrack really fit the HTTYD franchise, and it has some cute references to THW and RTTE. besides a few bugs it's a great game but my only complaint is the length, 7-8 hours is fine but not for a $40 game. unless you're a HTTYD superfan and really need your fix after the 3rd movie i would recommend waiting until it goes on sale or has a price drop. i hope the planned sequel will be longer!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS GAME ARE GREAT, GOOD, AND AMAZING ADVANTURE !! ( for me tho) I don't know for other but this game are good ( graphic 10/10 , other 9,5/10 ) well becasue I'm big fan of this film/movie and all game (accept 1 game [school of dragon] ) THANK YOU, STEAM AND DREAMWORKS TO ADD/MAKE THIS AMAZING GAME!!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All around the game is okay, it is very repetitive it's like they copied and pasted the runes, there is no collecting (Which is my favorite part about How To Train Your Dragon games) it's just one dragon and he gains different skills throughout the game, it's also a very very easy game and if could take you 4-6 hours to complete I would recommend it if it was $10-$20 but the game being $40 I can't recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PROS - Dragons: you don't get to play as canon characters, but the main chars of the game are good - Beautiful: impressive art style, everything from tilesets to loading backgrounds is gorgeous - Cute: main dragon character causes cuteness overload - Story: simple, but touching - Gameplay: nothing revolutionary, but solid; puzzles, combat, bosses - everything is fun - The one and only HTTYD game which isn't cheap low-quality cash-grab without any soul CONS - Short: I managed to play for 9…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dont understand the hate this game is getting, only caveat I would give is buy on sale, not for full price. Cause for the lenght of the game is not worth it. Apart from that game is a great fun, your kids will love it. Not too difficult, some puzzles will require help from adults depending of age. If you go for 100 % completion you can easily put 5-6 hours into the game, no point in rushing it. Everything is easy if you hunt achievements, 2 of the dungeons have great puzzles that will give you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*technically a 3 hour game but I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ around for about 2 hours. The only reason for the thumbs down is that its $30 for a 3 hour long game. Everything else about this game is good. The graphics are cute, the mechanics aren't hard to learn, and story is decent. I recommend buying when it is on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on a Steamdeck [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45534557/]@MatureContent I do not understand how this game has a very positive rating with its length and price tag, it doesn't deserve it. This is a very simple and boring hack and slash that is nothing more than a collection of generic maps with a boss at the end. The combat mechanics are also just plain and don't offer much variation, with the only interesting part being able to switch between the rider and the dragon. This…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DreamWorks Dragons: Dawn of New Riders is a mix of combat and environmental puzzles for some odd reason the game feels and reminds me simular to Adventure Time The Secret Of The Namless Kingdom but way worse: Pros: + graphics are soild for what it is and fits the style of the series (the game barely need any space drive) + the game world feels like you are in Dreamwork Dragons + flying in the hud world is great atmosphere and how it looks + game dont have any problems no bugs at all + the main…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know this is geared more for kids and thats who will enjoy it the most but overall i found it a nice experience. That said it's short, easy and not worth $30. The game only has 3 main islands with 2 parts each but does offer 6 more islands with only 1 part each that you can skip if you wish. Do note there are no voice acting outside them saying a word or grunting before you need to read. I'ed almost rather not have anything because them saying something as the text pops up kept making me…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wouldn’t kill him, because he looked as frightened as I was. I looked at him…and I saw myself Hiccup, How To Train Your Dragon
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't expect this game to be such a tear-jerker. It definitely has a soul and charm of the "How to Train your Dragon" trilogy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DreamWorks Dragons: Dawn of New Riders is an action-adventure game inspired by the "How to Train Your Dragon" franchise. Players control Scribbler, a young scholar, and Patch, a unique dragon, as they explore islands, solve puzzles, and battle foes to uncover Scribbler's past. Gameplay The game features a mix of combat and environmental puzzles, with straightforward battles and enjoyable boss fights. However, combat can feel shallow, and some locations may appear repetitive or quite similar.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5/10 i would rate this as a nintendo-ds quality of game solid combat system and puzzles - minor voice acting biggest down side is only about 3.7 hours to 100% this game this game started off as being 40$ and that was WAYYYYY over the top i would grab it on deep sale and will give this a thumbs up if they drop the price a 3rd time to around 10$
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros -A variety of powers for Patch (your dragon) and weapons+armor for Scribbler. Ability to upgrade weapons gives them elemental damage that's pretty fun to mix and match during combat. - Gaining the ability to fly with Patch opens up the world map that lets you explore different island to find resources and upgrade materials. - A good mixture of combat against humans and dragons that can become challenging as you progress through the game if you don't upgrade your weapons and armors…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i paid $26 for 3 hour gameplay when i thought it was just an introduction
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DreamWorks Dragons: Dawn of New Riders, developed by Climax Studios Ltd. and published by Outright Games Ltd., is an action-adventure title that expands the beloved How to Train Your Dragon universe into an engaging, family-friendly game experience. The game follows the story of Scribbler, a young amnesiac scholar, and Patch, a unique dragon known as a Chimeragon, as they embark on a quest to stop the sinister Eir from exploiting dragons for her own malevolent purposes. Set across multiple…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i bought this game in the summer sale for 9€, its not the best game but its a nice game with puzzels and action, i only 1 glitch one time when my character did fall down through the ground, i would not say the game is worth 30€ because its short but for the money i paid im happy that i did try it out, if you are a HTTYD fan then i think you need to try it out and if you love dragons you probably will like it too because you can play as the dragon, the art style is beautiful, the music is nice,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a fan of the franchise I just had to get this game. It's no How to Train your Dragon movie, but it certainly captures a sweet bit of the world with the different climate areas and the dragons we already know and love. The graphics are nice and cute, additionally the drawings that appear once in a while are nicely done. The music is fitting and according to the usual style of the franchise. As many have criticized already, the combat system is a little off, but it doesn't pose much of a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No way to change/keymap controls. Who the hell put to view map instead of ? much easier on the current control setup. Asked on forum but no one replied. Also the flying is TERRIBLE. Seriously i would of been happy if they removed it altogether and just made us have the ability to instaport. The camera is frustrating during flying. Also would prefer if they had a track chest ability since getting the last one sucks. It also ends at the very end, it tells you you can't go back when you enter…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its pretty good honestly. The best part of the game is when you get a little freedom to island hop while flying the unique dragon to this game. There really aren't any other httyd games out there anymore, this one is fun to an extent. The puzzles are easy, the game play is very simple. I don't have much to complain about but just as little to compliment. All in all if your a dreamworks lover or httyd fan its still some nice content to check out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: 3/10 licensed game shovelware at its peak This is like someone had a decent vision and idea for something good but ended up making something truly horrible. Everything is done in a limit of 3. So 3 main islands to explore, 6 side islands but they both have 3 puzzles and 3 dragons to free ,bosses have 3 phases to fight them and you get the general idea. Combat was okay at the start but it got annoying when i would get literally blocked by enemies and not be able to move. Puzzles are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is okey. Basic puzzles, short, family friendly. Good game to get for your kids. So overpriced I don't even know how to try and understand why. Is it only because of the title? Completed this in around 4 hours. If there was a neutral button to pick when writing a review it would have been that alternative.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't change it to work for left handed people. I really want to play but I can't. They should really make games more accessable to left handed people
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While it's a nice little game it has its problems. I had two main ones, namely the janky controls (they made some puzzles and fights unnecesseraly frustrating) and the saving system. While having autosaving is nice having to redo everything aside from opening chests isn't. These two problems aside I had fun playing through. I really enjoyed the flying parts and seeing the freed dragons flying around Havenholme. The dragonmodels are cute and Patch's desing and powers are creative. You can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game puts the "crawl" in "Dungeon crawl". The dungeons are way too big going through all the rooms takes forever. The mechanics for the first boss didn't make sense and the fight was frustrating overall. The game feels like a bad Legend of Zelda.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I usually never write reviews, but for this game I felt like I had to. If you love the movies as much as I do you will be glad that you can actually fly in this game. I love to just fly around the world. I hope maybe they will release a story dlc because as said by others it is a little short. Hoping for more in the future and would definitely recommend the game if you like that kind of game.

unlabelledView post →This was pretty decent! I was surprised that the soundtrack was so charming. The visuals are wonderful and the puzzles, although simple, are not bad to do. It was a fun romp and genuinely very faithful to the series. Truly hoping to see more titles like it! Being able to free fly and visit other islands was easily one of the coolest parts of the game!!~ <2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I adore it. Sure, it is pretty naive and short, but that’s what makes it good. I love the HTTYD franchise, and this game is one of the better parts of it. You’d probably beat it in about 3 hours, or 5 if you want to get all the achievements (ignore my time, I was just getting stuck on puzzles and farming for upgrades). The story isn’t too heavy, but kind of emotional. Or, well, I guess it is, since I don’t usually feel anything when playing games, for example when I was beating Hollow Knight I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn´t have "really solid Top Down Zelda Clone" on my Bingo Card when I first launched this, but here we are and I´m not here to complain. Maybe not worth the regular asking price, but I´d say at a 50% Discount absolutely worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is easy to pick up and play even younger kids will get the hang of it fast. The visuals are mostly nice, though the characters' faces can look a little funky at times. Still, the characters really bring the story to life, and overall, it's a fun, solid game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, as a person who loves the HTTYD franchise this is a game i love giving you the whole experience of being a dragon rider with the excitement of unlocking all of Patch’s abilities along the way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth $10, not $30 The game is defenitely too short, not to mention janky combat and flight system without the ability to rebind anything at all, puzzles were fun though, but it is NOT worth the full asking price, get it on like a sale like i did instead. The designs are cute though so i'll give the devs that, though i really wish we could rebind the controls and turn off the stupid inverted flight controls, if i wanna fly up i wanna use the "up" button, not "down".
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Many times you get stuck on random edges, AI sometimes glitches.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I quite like it and I think it has cute graphics. I do think its worth the discounted price not the full price. Although when I look at the controls it shows me an Xbox controller not keyboard, so I think it'll be very easy to forget the controls if you do not remember them :(
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DreamWorks Dragons: Dawn of New Riders is a 3D rendered 2D top down action brawler with some lightweight puzzles. The game is particularly shallow and it's fairly evidently a marketing exercise where some suits mandated a video game be made for the franchise without a great deal of concern for quality or gameplay experience. It's more like "Here is development budget, you provide game from that budget, see you at the earnings report." Not a lot of passion here, this is very much a generic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's better than Call of Duty: Ghosts.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute lil puzzle game but wish they went into more detail about Patch
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Remember the old Zelda games? This is pretty much that, but you can switch between the Hero with his sword and shield or his ice, lightning or fire breathing Dragon. You also travel from Temple to Temple, solve puzzles and defeat Bosses. It is a very child-friendly game, but you can also enjoy it as a fully grown man-baby. It is somewhat short with around 4,5 hours to finish the game, but there is still some rare material to find to upgrade my weapons to maximum.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would recommend it for anyone fan of How to train your dragon franchies, they did my boy hiccup so wrong with those eyebrows but decent game, isn't long tho, and use a controller to control flight better than keyboard
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game if you like dragons. It has a lots a Puzzles in it. The Map doesn't help you a lot. But It's fun game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good game! I've sort of beat this on my Switch/Switch 2 already, and I got it for Steam, and it is a significantly better experience (mainly because of W-A-S-D movement)! There is one thing though that I'd liked removed, when flying your mouse CAN move off the game screen when rotating the camera, and it often opens unrelated tabs I have in the background. Other than the camera issues, I'd highly recommend this if you're a HTTYD fan! PS: Here are the included dragon species, just for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked the simple side of this game. Hated that it crashed 4 times during the last level and made me reset it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →x-- 7/10 --x A fun little gem, can be a bit repetitive, but the dragons are the real stars here!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am rating this as a kids game and not a full Dark Souls game or something. It is a pretty fun game that doesn't over stay it's welcome. It is quite easy to 100% and also a fun 100%. Fighting/combat in this game isn't the greatest, but maybe I just didn't understand it. Doesn't really matter, none of the fights are difficult. The art they show on the loading screens, scrolls, and menus look amazing and wish they had more of that. As for the game look itself, it is fine. They look good for a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would, the zone designs are good and the combat is something all ages would be able to handle. Nothing too in-depth but it was a fun little weekend Zelda-style romp, try and snag it on sale if you can :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An okay game, although the characters tend to get stuck on corners quite often which is rather annoying 6/10 Dragons
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can be fully finished in 6 hours (including all achievements). It's a fun little game and plays great on the Steam Deck however I would not buy it for a full price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely love it. Fantastic game. I would love to play more like this. Runs amazing on steam deck. Looks great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really slow and clunky
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →buy it for gender envy man
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My main critic would have to be that this is a rather short game. I completed it within a 12 hour time span and given the amount of time I spent just looking around and smashing things, I probably could have done it quite a bit faster. There really isn't much replayability, so once you are done, that's pretty much it. It's also a relatively easy game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dont buy this game at full price, I got it in the sale for roughly £9 and its pretty much equated to £1/hr played (I play fairly slowly and still need to finish the last dungeon + did all the side islands) which may be decent at this price but when at the full price of £25 is kind of a rip off. Its simply too short, which considering how much potential the dragons franchise has is just sad. Did make me want to rewatch the films and tv series though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cromulent game. Got it during 2020 Summer Sale for $9, and enjoyed it. Its short and could have used some extra polish and tweaks, but for what's here and what it is (Legend of Zelda lite fare), its a fine little game. I love the How to Train Your Dragon movies, and it scratches that itch nicely for a game. And honestly, tweak what's here and it probably could be a larger game. Still, for a modern licensed game, I'd be happy to see more like this.
