Despite its eventual critical success, the series had a pre-release reception that was more mixed. Joshua Fox of Screen Rant wrote that the attitude before Daima aired was a mix of excitement and trepidation, but personally felt it had disproved the criticism by episode 8. Mariló Delgado's Spanish-language review for Espinof praised the series as an exercise in nostalgia, but warned viewers to be patient.
