60 of 194 · most liked firstDon't Knock Twice is a very short (2-3 hours) first-person horror adventure with a fairly run-of-the-mill story, a mid-sized house to explore, a few very simple puzzles, and a couple of mediocre jump scares. It can be played with or without a VR setup, I did the latter. 1. Story & Setting You play as a mother who has recently regained custody of her estranged daughter. You start the game in your house, which has no power and therefore no light apart from fireplaces and candles. Apart from your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a non-VR review, This game is way too overpriced for what you get, I did not even rush the game and beat it in less than one hour. There was very little scary about the game other than the sound at some parts. Puzzles were extremely easy. I'd only recommend at 80% off or more. Perhaps the game is far better in VR but certainly not worth the asking price for keyboard and mouse.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you can finish this game in 40 min....not worth it really cheap game i tried to get scared but i couldn't really poor storyline so many gliches stupid music 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Short Horror Title Ruined by Janky Controls and Lots of Clipping Bugs This "walking simulator"-style horror game (meaning no danger/death) is based on the movie with same name. The story is good and well paced. As usual with this type of short horror (I took 3h to finish it), the graphics are very good, the entire game occurs in a big house with some small indoor patio. It is a dark game, so as the trope goes, you have a lighting element -- in this case, a handheld candlestick -- that helps…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't Knock Twice is not a good game. It is a VR game that was lazily ported to work without. VR is the only reason I can see for the review score being over 70%, the bar is really lower for those types of games. The worst VR remnant about this game, is opening doors, and you have to open a lot of them because they constantly close themselves. It is so tedious and slow to do so. The game itself is boring. Even for someone like myself that likes walking sims, there really isn't much going on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad walking simulator with bad jump scares, incoherent story and short af. Also: DOES NOT WORK WITH THE INDEX CONTROLLERS
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is way too dark. I had the brightness maxed to 200% and it was still dark lmao.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND. The game took my less than an hour, the jumpscares were absolutely terribly placed - didn't feel any rush, no threat, no anxiety WHATSOVER - the game failed being a horror game. Instead it's a Real Estate Walking Simulator. 20 BUCKS FOR AN HOUR THANK YOU NO
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got Don't Knock Twice as a gift, and I #JustBeatIt. A rather linear horror game that instills fear by creepy sounds and jump scares. During ~1,5h playtime you have to gather 5 objects to activate a pentagram. There isn't much of a challenge, but I had a fun time with it. @polykillpodcast.bsky.social
unlabelledView post →The game had a poorly developed storyline, plagued with technical issues and unresponsive controls. It also relied on cheap jump scares that failed to deliver any real sense of horror. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and not worth recommending.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While short, this game was an overall decent experience. This game succeeds where current horror games fail. It is not just about jump scares, but overall environment. This game looks like it would be very enjoyable in VR. The look and feel of the game is well done. This would be a fun game to play in the dark, and let the situations carry you a bit. There are a few graphical glitches, but most can be resolved by exiting to the main menu and selecting continue. The story is interesting, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An Overpriced, 30-Minute Time Killer I cannot recommend Don't Knock Twice as anything other than a cheap thrill to lose an hour and a half to, and even for that it is woefully overpriced, discount and all. Not only is this game too short for the price tag, it is over three years old at the time of writing and offers very little by way of scares, polish and rhetorical merit. You play as Jessica, a mother exploring her classically convoluted two-storey house (not including the basement and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Janky and generic first-person horror, with clunky controls and unclear level design and objectives. The devs’ follow-up, Maid of Sker, isn’t great but is a masterpiece in comparison to this one
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dull and tedious.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one was pretty boring. It's super short, the story is played out, and there's very little interactivity with the environment. It's way too easy since you can really only interact with objects that you need to complete a certain task. The graphics are nice, though.

unlabelledView post →Boring. Janky even for 2017 standards. Boring. 62 minutes for one playthrough. Let's say i do another to get the second ending (which will be the same exact game except five seconds at the end), still wouldn't be worth 20€ for two hours. Two boring hours. How do people get scared by these things is beyond me (and i played in vr). This one makes Layers of Fears seem like the Citizen Kane of horror games walking simulators. Did i mention it's boring?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An underwhelming game, but keep in mind that I played in non-VR mode. The game only took me 90 minutes for my first playthrough, the puzzles weren't complex for a game with a puzzle tag, and I didn't really care about the characters enough to care about the outcome of the game. There is definitely potential here, but it feels like everything falls short. As someone who hadn't seen the movie the game is based off of, I was going in blind and didn't know what I would experience. The story seems…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can I say? It's the kind of game I prefer. Exploration, story, creepy, no real enemy threat. The tasks are straightforward and there are a bunch of achievements. To address the darkness others mentioned-set the gamma and brightness before you begin. You won't need the candle, except as a trigger to exit the first room.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent horror game. But it's only like one hour long, the game is too dark and sometimes it's hard to tell what to do or where to go next. Also the story isn't much developed. At least it's kinda creepy and it's mostly fun to play. Get it in a sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man.... I saw the trailer for this game & wanted it so bad but saw how the gameplay was about an hour to two hours. So i decided to wait on it because of the price, bought it once it hit the $10 sale mark. This is the first game I've ever requested a refund for, it starts off okay with a couple of scares & seems like the story is going to be good... then just goes downhill from there. Also, one of the MOST GARBAGE endings I've ever seen. Don't waste your money.. Go buy Dark Occult,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am reviewing the VR version of this game. Its kinda janky with interactions. Can't pick up most of the objects laying around which is always a huge turn off in VR games. The story is convoluted and not very scary.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Knock once to wake her from the bed, Twice to raise her from the dead. I was fast enough to do it thrice. Don't Knock Twice is a short horror game. Mostly a walking sim with some jumpscares. Not much in terms of puzzles, chases, hiding, ect. ect. Still, the game aint bad. Its a fun little short horror game. There is some nice interactable stuff around. I'm not sure if playing Pool is a smart thing to do while being hunted, but at least I got an achievment for it! Now I do have to give a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't Knock Twice is a very dark (literally) and mildly entertaining horror experience. It has a great atmosphere and a cool setting. Gave me a bit of Amnesia the Dark Descent vibes in how it looks and plays, but without the monsters. There is no real danger here. The few scares you'd encounter would probably work better in VR. Some were ok but I found most of them quite dull. Graphically, it's very good. Except that it is also extremely dark. So dark, that you can't even see things you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay... so as far as the story goes... I feel like this game needs a full overhaul and some updated love. All of the aspects within the stories "bones" are there to create an experience as memorable as "Visage" or "MADiSON"... however where this game is already seven years old... I feel like it's one of those "for it's time" kind of horror games. But with some updated TLC (and I'm not talking graphics only... I'm talking about putting some real love and depth into the story) this game could be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6.8 out of 10 (7.8 out of 10 in VR) Pros: Intense and immersive in VR, genuinely good jump scares and a fun Haunted House Simulator. Cons: Extremely short, ludicrously easy (very little challenge), bland graphics, and wonky physics/bugs. Verdict: Don't Knock Twice is a experience worth having - it is genuinely spooky in places, and keeps you on your toes as you explore it's haunted house. In the short 1hr 40 minutes or so it typically takes to beat - the game throws achievements at you and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Don't Knock Twice is like a game of hide-and-seek, except instead of your little cousin, you're hiding from a demonic spirit that wants to eat your face off. As the player, you'll explore a creepy old mansion in search of clues to help you defeat the evil witch that haunts it. And let me tell you, nothing makes you feel more alive than creeping through dark corridors and accidentally knocking over a vase. But fear not, brave adventurer, because you have a trusty smartphone to help you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was very scary and I enjoyed playing the game but parts of the games had glitches. I did not like their teleport system. I prefer smooth locomotion.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was not that amusing. I encountered a lot of bugs and the controls were not that great. The gameplay was also very short so not worth the price. Unfortunately the scares were a let down too.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you paid $20 for this I am really sorry and are you doing okay?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sure in VR this game is great, but on keyboard it wasn't very good. The controls are clunky and difficult to use, the gameplay itself lacked scares and was slow and boring. It's just not made to be played non-VR.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool idea, decent story. Game boils down to being a boring walking sim. Would not recommend .
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't Knock Twice After receiving multiple nice messages from my daughter, i actually wanted to leave the house and let the demon have her. But as this was my curse, i had to fix this lil problem... The game does have a few nice jumpscares, most of them are a bit obvious at times, yet they did kept me on my toes throughout the game. Also the surroundings were do-able, while i had some minor bugs that would let the windows look weird, but luckily not all game long. After finishing my first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was probably one of the worst horror games I have ever played. Story itself was not well elaborated, the control system within the game felt like this was made by an amateur or someone who made their first game and wanted to test it with the audience. This would be great for someone who you would like to introduce to horror games but for someone who regularly plays video games, not worth it. I would rate it 4/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually scary! The atmosphere and visuals are effectively creepy, and the jump scares work a lot better in VR than in the movie. The movie it is based on is not very good, but having watched it made the plot in the game a little clearer, so it might be worth it (it's on Netflix). Sometimes the gameplay is a little frustrating, I felt there was a lot of wandering back and forth. Overall, I'd say wait for a sale - at 10$ or so it is reasonable, but I wouldn't pay full price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is another good VR horror game. (VR isn't required but my review is based on a VR experience.) This is a top notch horror game if you like haunted houses. You're only armed with a simple candle and your nerve. You find clues to what has happened and why. As you progress through the game she makes herself known. As far as fear factor, it's up there with DreadEye. This game is very similar to Layers of Fear. So if you like that game you'll like this one too. Because this is a VR…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A surreal masterpiece of tense pacing with beautiful blood dripping atmosphere and gorgeous graphics alive with shocking gore mutilating the mind's innocence with experiences never to be forgotten. Writing and story ooze with character building revelations of the unnatural bringing to mind blinding light the impossible before your shaken suddenly unbalanced sense of reality. Music and audio kiss the soul wetly like a seductress wrapped in a veil of deceptive loneliness which without warning…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was god awful I am so sorry I could not enjoy this. I got scared once and replayed the game multiple times to 100% it. The graphics are okay I like how interactive it is. But I hate this game with a passion.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not buy the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game I swear to god your ruin the house value by destoying all the handles with an axe and your dumb ex girlfriends sends you passive aggressive texts, for real I would rather be playing nostale right now
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was a fun game but my play through was only an hour and 7 minutes. I would recommend it if its on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOUR USING CONTROLLER BEFORE LAUNCHING GAME YOU MUST GO TO PROPERTIES AND GO TO CONTROLLER AND ENABLE STEAM INPUT AFTER THAT U CAN ALSO DISABLE VR IF YOUR NOT USING THAT. AFTER THAT LAUNCH GAME THEN GO TO CONTROLLER SETTINGS AND CUSTOMIZE YOUR CONTROLLER PREFERANCE THEN YOUR GOOD TO GO.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*Playing this on my Steam Deck* This game is TERRIFYING!! I keep coming back for more because of the awesome jump scares and random knocking on doors and windows that scare you to the bone. I love Wales Interactive games, but this is one of their best! Great graphics, controls, and story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have a valve index and I can’t get the game to recognize the snap or smooth turning. Bummer as this game was recommended but will not function on a newer VR headset. ***Update tried to just play the game with the above limitations...the initial room is missing so many artifacts ( I know this because I watched a stream to see if I could understand why I was stuck.) Could not open the first door. Game is glitch bricked. ***Update...it gets worse, I decided I would just enjoy the PC version…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Something of a walking simulator, with a bit of puzzling and a lot of storytelling to unravel, this game probably isn't for everyone. The visual and audio design creates a really good atmosphere, and the almost epistolary storytelling rewards players who keep their eyes peeled for notes and information. The trope of a parent working to rescue their child is a very common one, but the complexity of the relationship portrayed here, and the backstory of the main character, do make this a strong…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The sound design for this game, makes it so much scarier. High volume and low gamma/brightness is actually terrifying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is really short. I only played for 85 minutes. Wasn’t very interesting or scary. I found it boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had a lot of fun playing this game! Quite a few jump scares that made me actually got me. The story was well put together and the ending was awesome! Some cons: 1) No save mechanism at all. Unsure how the game actually saved as I left off in the courtyard at the end of one stream but then ended up in a nearby room at start of next stream. I didn't lose any progress but just strange. 2) As you progress, there are a few moments in the game that may not be jumpscares but certainly scripted…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really enjoying this game (scary!!!) but then there is a game breaking bug at the end that prevents you from finishing the game. I was going to give this game a good review but I can't with this game breaking bug. I read other people having the exact same issues and tried to work around the bug but with no luck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished this game in an hour it was my first horror game played and I really liked it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good it took me 4 hours to complete it but i wish it had more jumpscares!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent indie horror with plenty jump scares and spooky atmosphere. Story was alright. most of it is told through all the letters, diary's and text messages. Only complaint was i had to turn brightness up way higher then i usually would for horror playthroughs since the rooms were pretty dark and the only light source is candles. I still recommend trying it if you want something short, scary and nothing too complex :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where do you draw the line between "atmospheric" and "I can't see #%$@?" Somewhere between Concluse and this game, I guess. "Turn up your gamma, dummy!" Hey, I was playing in a dark room at night and followed their instructions to the letter! You figure they must have their reasons, right? You're in an old manor at night with the lights off, after all, so for all I know it's supposed to look like that. Otherwise what's the point of having you manually light candles? Regardless, the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played on Oculus Rift! Okay Okay Okay, So I only took over a year to finally get out of the living room from where you start. and after a few packs of adult diapers and therapy to really make it anywhere in the "GAME" or as I now call it "A really bad way to end up in counseling for life". This game really scared the hell out of all of those that attempted to play it in my house. Several have tried to finish it and all failed. I finally finished it after well over a year. The adventure only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is not scary
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great atmosphere, movement, graphics, but waaay to short. 1.4h was all I got and that only that long because I played with friends and we kept passing the vr around.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm too scared to play after someone knocks on the window right in the beginning. I've never gone past that part. Highly recommended if you wanna be scared.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a short lil walking simulator with jump scares. i'd only really recommend it if you've seen the film (i haven't) or you won't understand the story (i didn't), but it's good fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A well made but short horror game. The puzzles are intuitive and not difficult to figure out. The atmosphere is fantastic. Multiple endings. You'll want to turn the brightness up in-game, because it's very hard to see anything if you don't. 7/10 game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was alright. It's basically a haunted house walking simulator with two different endings. There are a few collectibles to get (which i always like in games), the environment looks good and the atmosphere is there. Of course during the second playthrough (if you want to get all achievements) it looses the atmosphere because you know exactly whats going to happen. But i think it is a good game if you enjoy these type of games.
