Dog Day Afternoon
Based on the true story of would-be Brooklyn bank robbers John Wojtowicz and Salvatore Naturile. Sonny and Sal attempt a bank heist which quickly turns sour and escalates into a hostage situation and stand-off with the police. As Sonny's motives for the robbery are slowly revealed and things become more complicated, the heist turns into a media circus. From TMDB

60 of 205 · most liked firstin 6 years John Cazale was in The Godfather 1 and 2, Dog Day Afternoon, The Conversation and The Deer Hunter. Then he died. In those 6 years he achieved more as a film actor than anyone in film history. He made ZERO bad movies in those 6 years. He was loved. He was amazing. What an absolute master

unlabelledView post →Watched Dog Day Afternoon for the first time in ages last night. Still an astonishing film. Turning a bank robbery into a terrible day at work, within a system that won’t let you win. A piece of art.
unlabelledView post →Dog Day Afternoon is a great movie to show anybody who thinks trans people were invented seven years ago by Woke. (Also a great movie to show anybody in general)
unlabelledView post →What happened to Pacino that turned him from a subtle, restrained actor to the biggest scenery chewer in the history of film? Did Dog Day Afternoon just retire his brain to think: this is how all characters should act?
unlabelledView post →*taps the sign* Dog Day Afternoon is a gay rights movie.
unlabelledView post →This week I saw four great movies in theaters: MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO, DOG DAY AFTERNOON, NORTH BY NORTHWEST AND CRIP CAMP. All with enthusiastic audiences. Many of them a lot younger than me. Watching a great movie with a fully engaged audience is unique and beautiful. Movies don’t have to be dead.
unlabelledView post →Happy Heavenly 91st Birthday to the legendary John Cazale, the only actor in history have a perfect film career. All five films he made: GODFATHER, THE CONVERSATION, GODFATHER PART II, DOG DAY AFTERNOON, and THE DEER HUNTER, all masterpieces.
unlabelledView post →I agree because I did the same thing, but also...I agree. The idea of not having Dog Day Afternoon on your streaming movie service, for any reason, suggests to me that you don't like movies enough to have a streaming movie service.

unlabelledView post →Movie idea - like Dog Day Afternoon, a bank heist goes wrong and the robber is trapped in the bank with hostages. But his escape plan is to run for president from within the bank and campaign from within it until November, then pardon himself when he wins.

unlabelledView post →The film Dog Day Afternoon is based on a real-life story about a bisexual bank robber who held up a bank to pay for his partner's surgery... except that the REAL real-life story is a lot more complicated. I've got the story in this week's bonus video: www.patreon.com/posts/bonus-...

John ordered pizza for the hostages. John planned the robbery to pay for his partner's gender affirming surgery. It became the film Dog Day Afternoon.

As well as the grandson of legendary Jewish film director Sidney Lumet (Dog Day Afternoon). “Race” is not a biological construct. It’s just a social construct.
