Sure, there are ten maps, four characters, and different mobs. It features mostly recycled sprites with the same mechanics, nothing fancy—just attack and defense. Even the loot is a random of 1-4 affixes from a 5-mod pool. I came here expecting a game either engaging or relaxing. Yet it feels like a minimal-effort attempt to find a niche in the idle/ARPG…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Desktop Heroes is another one of those cute idle games that run along the bottom of your monitor claiming not to distract you from work, but of course, it totally does xD. You can unlock four heroes and a variety of biomes/stages, each with the goal of grinding to level 100 with every hero to earn all the achievements. Gameplay mostly revolves around checking your inventory now and then to sell junk and upgrade your hero. Each hero has unique abilities that speed up progress, though using them…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's neither idle (needs you to intervene in high difficulty) nor manual (you can't afford the time to babysit the whole game). Make. Up. Your. Mind.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Desktop Heroes brings a charming twist to the idle RPG idea by living right on the edge of your screen. It’s fun to glance down and see your little hero fighting, looting, and leveling up while you work. The pixel art and cozy atmosphere fit the concept well, and the overall presentation is clean and pleasant. That said, the progression loop can start to feel repetitive after a while, and the game requires more manual interaction than expected for something branded as “idle.” Inventory…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a desktop idle game, there is no idle progression that I would want or it has. You have 4 seperate hero's that don't interact until you would get the shared inventory which isn't that big of a deal that late into the game. You cant make a party of other hero's which feels wrong. If you die you stop progressing all together, so the idleing just stops. Maybe in time they will make this feel good, but for now there are better choices out there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Desktop Heroes – Review (200+ hours) I have over 200 hours in Desktop Heroes, so I feel like I can give a pretty fair review. The idea behind the game is actually pretty cool. It's an idle game that runs on your desktop while you're doing other things. Your hero automatically fights monsters, gets weapons, collects gems, and becomes stronger. Once you collect enough gems, you fight a boss, and after defeating the boss you get a key that unlocks a new world with stronger enemies. You can also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nothing distinguishes this game from the most bare-bones and effortless idlers on steam, just another pile of slop added to the idler genre. I don't know what justifies paying 6 whole dollars for this bland piece of ♥♥♥♥, it's not even comparable to the majority of free idle games on steam. I can't even think of an Idle game that is as effortless as this and i've played close to 150 of them. There is literally nothing to this game, no prestige mechanic to make progression faster, zero…

Usually I'm not into idle games, but I decided to give it a try after I checked the store page. The visuals and soundtrack are surprisingly well made and distinguished as well. The soundtrack doesn't feel repetitive, even though I listened to it for a while. Controls are straightforward, as you can manage everything with your mouse but you can also use hotkeys for certain menus and game elements. Gameplay seems…

unlabelledView post →This game is another addition to the ever-growing genre of idle or incremental games, a style that has become remarkably popular in recent years. Yet, unlike many of its modern counterparts that constantly demand the player’s attention with layers of complex mechanics, flashy upgrades, and relentless notifications, this title takes a step back to the genre’s roots. The premise couldn’t be more straightforward. You have a lone warrior who continuously walks forward on an endless path,…

unlabelledView post →For an idle game that takes up a significant portion of your screen real estate, marketing itself as being a passive game to play while you do your usual tasks, it's incredibly distracting. I enjoy it. It's cute, but I really can't have it running while studying, programming, or working -- unless I'm not actually focusing on those tasks. TLDR; Not idle enough.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been looking for a game I could play while working for a long time. I tried it when I came across the demo recently and really liked it. I 'm glad it was released in a short time. Among games of this type, I usually see games with farming or decor themes. They tried a different theme, and it turned out very well. It's a very ideal game to play while working or doing your daily tasks on the PC. Cheers to developers!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've started playing Desktop Heroes today since it released yesterday. I was waiting this game to get published for a long time. The concept is genuinely refreshing. Having your heroes fight and level up right above your taskbar while you're working or browsing feels like a fun mix between productivity and gaming. Art style is simple but charming at the same time and the little animations give this game its personality. I also like that you can manage your items, craft, manage your economy and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been really enjoying Desktop Heroes so far. The visuals at the bottom of my screen have a charming, nostalgic feel to them that reminds me of the Tamagotchi era. It's fun to watch them and occasionally take care of them, it adds a unique touch to the experience. I don’t usually have a lot of time to play games, but having Desktop Heroes run quietly at the bottom of the screen makes it easy to dip in and out. Plus, I really like the pixel art design. This is exactly what I look for in a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having a blast so far, but the random lag spikes happen way too often. I’m on an i9-12900K and RTX 4090, so it’s definitely not a hardware issue. Might be worth waiting for a performance patch, but once that’s sorted, it’s absolutely worth playing. I’m still enjoying it despite the spikes, but can’t fully recommend it just yet , still worth picking up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would recommend the game as developers are constantly improving the game, great job on that. I’ve spent over 90 hours playing the game (mainly active farming rather than idling) and would like to share some feedback: 1. Equipment and Stat Scaling The recent equipment update with higher EXP multipliers is a great improvement. However, similar scaling should also apply to other stats, such as Defense and Gold gain. At higher levels or map counts, ranged monsters still make idle farming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It turned out to be much more enjoyable than I expected! I usually get bored of idle games after 10 minutes, but this one somehow keeps me saying “a little bit more” The character progression, loot system, and sense of advancement all feel really satisfying. There are still a few things that could be improved, for example, the inventory management can be a bit cumbersome at times, and some of the pricing balance feels a bit too harsh here and there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →couldnt progress after village. bosses are not spawn imposible to get level. i didnt understand how make progress in this stage. No idle progress and no offline progress.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Progress is far too slow, by the looks of the screenshots/advertizement it looked like you could have a squad of characters that you can individually give them level upgrades and equipments, but this is not the case. Each character has it's own progress, meaning. You start with a knight, spend hours to get the unlock to have a 2nd join you, you go to switch to that character to equip gear and the game fully restarts with that character and your knight goes into "sleep" mode. This game is not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game, works great on linux through proton. Dev seems to be actively fixing issues and improving it as well, so that's a plus! Looks like most of the bad reviews were from a prior patch and the issues seem to be much better, glad I got this!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitively a good game! The devs have been working hard patching stuff and adding new features and the game is 1000x better than it was in the DEMO.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's ok but it demands too much attention for an idle game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →new genre for me and I liked it. kinda difficult to not get captivated and pay full attention.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Desktop Heroes is an idle game that sits right above your taskbar and works quietly in the background. Your heroes fight automatically while you can work, study, watch shows, or browse without any distraction. The game includes a Virtual Mode that makes the window semi-transparent and lets your clicks pass through it, and you can also lock the window so it always stays on top of other apps. The downsides are the lack of bulk delete/sell for items, which makes the inventory fill up quickly,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adds a fun touch to daily computer use. Especially if you're using multiple monitors. A simple and a bit addictive RPG that runs quietly in the background. Loved the pixel art style and clean interface. My first time playing a game that only takes up part of the screen. A nice little experience for short breaks at the office or a cute companion while listening to music.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game! HOWEVER be wary if you have ADHD, I can't do anything else while its running.. 2 enthusiastic thumbs up!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Takes some time to adjust but after that yo even got some diablo vibes as well haha :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect companion for work & play! I’m genuinely impressed by Desktop Heroes. It nails the sweet spot between “I’m busy working” and “I just wanna see some epic loot happen”. The fact that this pixel-art adventure runs quietly at the bottom of your screen while you’re sorting emails or writing code is simply genius. The little team behind it clearly cared about both design and usability. The four classes (Warrior, Hunter, Assassin, Wizard) give you enough variety to feel meaningful decisions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a new game and has an early access feeling. It's a great game for me as I like to tab into my idle game every 5th minute and see what's up. This is not a game for you if you want something 100% afk, as you need to interact with it every 5th minute or so. It's still missing a lot of QoL features like auto-sell junk, and an overall easier selling feature as you don't want to click 3 times to sell a single item :) Implementations I hope to see: - Equipping armor having a visual impact…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are two ways to play this game: 1) Leave it idle on a lower level where your character won't die or use potions but also make no meaningful progressions. 2) Play actively, actually progress, and experience what the game has to offer. Numbers go up but not in a way any different than the first 15 minutes of playing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FIRE!!! Good design, awsome gameplay. Its full of fun with the basics!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit: Was negative but the development team has really put a lot of effort in and lots of updates! Definitely worth a try!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does a reasonable job at being a desktop decoration and treads the line pretty well between being an active and idle game. I wish the items had more of an impact on the visuals (like changing the outfits, slash color etc.). I think switching to using an indexed color palette rather than using the basic sprites would allow for much greater customisation like changing the outfit, hair and eye color without needing entirely new animation sprites. It'd be nice to see more vibrancy in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Desktop Heroes approaches the idle RPG formula from an unusually practical angle, turning the lower portion of a computer screen into a miniature fantasy adventure that can continue while the player concentrates on other activities. Instead of expecting constant attention, it is designed to sit unobtrusively above the taskbar while a party fights enemies, completes quests, and gathers treasure. This makes the experience feel less like a traditional RPG that must occupy an entire gaming session…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun little side piece
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Conceptually it is a cool idea. In reality it's a very barebones idler that has very little upwards scaling (or fun in my opinion). My biggest gripe is how little you get in terms of progression, and how the auto-skill on the first skill always comes undone in some way or form. Takes some ~200 hours to 100% if you're an achievement hunter.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easy to play and the grind is addicting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game honestly surprised me with how many fun elements are in the game! if you love RPGs, team building, and farming monsters this is the game for you! it is an idle RPG which is my favorite part. i can let the game run while im doing/playing other things! quite a fun one if you are looking for a 2nd monitor game!~ update: To clarify, you can only utilize three heroes simultaneously, which means that using all four at once is not permitted. At this stage, I have successfully leveled every…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A charming idle‑strategy adventure where tiny heroes roam your desktop, gather loot, and tackle quests while you relax. Progression feels steady, upgrades are satisfying, and the playful presentation makes it an easy, cozy delight
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanna support the game. Love ❤️💖💕
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game pretty fun to have in the background while you doing something else
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It crashes a lot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice fun little idle rpg desktop game to have running in the background. progression is pretty solid, not too fast early and not too slow late game. loot to earn to check every hour or 30 mins to get 1/4 of the heroes stronger with different stats to choose from depending on what style of combat you prefer for an idle game. only downside is theres a lack of endgame. only reason to keep playing is to lvl up and get stronger gear little by little. plus achievements that you cant get within 50 or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth for every penny. I’ve really enjoyed playing as Sereywn (the archer), and my journey so far has been great. My only advice is to brew plenty of potions — you’ll definitely need them. Also, don’t forget to assign your healing potions to your Ferry’s slot and activate it; it’s super helpful!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun but progression lacks a bit of depth.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat little game, but it gets dull after some time. Developers did a few quality of life improvements already, but I hope there will be more changes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the idle game I’ve been waiting for! I’m so glad it’s finally released, and now I can play nonstop. It has a unique flavor and creative mechanics that make it stand out from the rest. I love that I can just hop in and play anytime on my PC. Perfect for relaxing sessions or long grinds. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys clever, well-made idle games!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite waited for this game and was expected full version will have more logic. But as of now, it's sad. Whats the points of all the characters if they are kinda all seperate and you can play them together, so playing new character feels like a loss. It is dissapointing to level new character as you only pplay 1 characters, you switch to another and that stays OFF. Item customisation is bad also, there should be some kind of auto loot, as White/green/purple items becomes uneeded and you only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review WAS INITIALLY negative due to lost potential. i've seen a lt of meaningfull and nice changes in a reasonable amount of time, so the game and devs definitely deserve a posotive now after some patches. Everything in are new additions after the latest patch on dec.15.25 1. [SOMEWHAT FIXED NOW] First, i'll explain what i didn't like about the game. After about 10 hours of gameplay i've not seen a SINGLE new mechanic or basically anything to spice things up, refresh game loop, etc. -For…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game so far, its great that it just sits there while you do other things and when you come back there is plenty to do The game keeps on getting updates and thats great but they keep on breaking things and not fixing them for eg damage does not do what it says it will anymore and the spawn rates are a joke now even though your team it way stronger hoping they can fix these issues soon also 1 minute potions on an idle what is the point make them at least ten to fifteen minutes
