60 of 110 · most liked firstThis game tries to imitate Defense Grid (which is the best tower defense I've ever played), but contains a lot of failures : - There are no checkpoints ... and some levels last 30 minutes, it's horrible! - There is no pause either. (you can't freeze time and put some turrets) - You can speed up the time (x2), but if you do that the turrets will be less effective! - There is no minimap and you can't zoom-out to see the whole map. - You can't change the targeting priority of your turrets. - The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you blantly had to copy Defense Grid why not the superior UI as well. The interaction is clunky at best. This thing just plays like a chore. It's quite unbelieveable how one could screw up such a simple game with that much of potential.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Defense Technica is Defense Grid, but with less polish. Everything about it is directly from Defense Grid. The art style, the interface, the icons. Everything. This is like the shameless copy-catting you see on iOS, where they try to confuse the customer into buying the wrong game. This isn't totally broken and useless, but why pay $15 for this shameless thing, when you can pay $10 or less for the actual [url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/18500/]Defense Grid?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+/+ Upgradable tower tech trees with two branches. +/+ Solid music. +/- Solid but average mechanics. +/- Includes all the usual towers, but the selection feels limited. +/- Varying quality of level design (21 campaign levels). +/- Mediocre sound effects. -/- No endless mode or other good options for replay. -/- Not very difficult and few viable strategies to success. -/- Very bland graphics and animation. -/- Boring story (not a big deal for a TD game). -/- Controls not optimized for PC -/-…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Defense Technica (19/50) - Just Bad by Yiasmat Even tho i´m a huge fan of the genre, i still can´t convince myself to recommend this game to anyone. If you are looking for a nice TD, just go for anotherone, there are so many good TD´s out there (Defense Grid for example). Graphics (4/10): Not really that impressive. Considering this is a PC version, it has crappy animations, the framerate is just taken over from the android version and overall it could have been much better. Design (2/10):…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect example of why steam needs better quality control. This has all the depth of one of those F2P tower defence Iphone apps. The best thing this game actually does is defining the standard for 'crappy tower defence'. Avoid unless youre trapped in an airport for a week and you've already successfully washed all the windows and checked all the seats for pennies. Optimal Price: <1$
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decided to grab this while waiting for Defense Grid 2 and while it looks like Defense Grid it it lacks a huge amount of depth the game had, the game is playable and enjoyable enough that I played all the way through but almost everything is copied from DG. Set pieces are copy paste including almost all art assets, the upgrade system even down to the colours and the music. It's dissapointing that a developer with enough money to put some effort into a PC TD decided to waste it in copying…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping Defense Technica was going to rival one of my top rated TD games Defense Grid: The Awakening, for playability; unfortnately it didn't, but it certainly helped me to scratch the itch I get when I see a new TD release. Tower Defense games are one of my favorite arcade/indie genres. I'm quite pleased with this one even if it doesn't offer up anything new apart from the crystals that enable you to occassionally reveal the most optimal placement of turrets or the luck…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Good: + different variety towers each with its own upgrade skill tree + 22 unique levels, some levels provide mazing, others do not + Some levels can transform mid play offering unique expereince in the game + Good graphics for a tower defense game +2 levels of difficulty +Controller Support The Bad: - Doesn't really do anything new that hasn't been done already, its about as standard as it gets (except for level transformation) - Most levels (especially if you play on harder…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not the worst I've seen but it plays really slow/clunky and have some nausea feeling to it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's impressive in how many ways they miss the mark of what makes for an enjoyable tower defense game. There's little introduction or explanation to gameplay concepts. For example, the 4th level introduces its first weather effect, except it doesn't really tell you when this is happening, or what its effect is. You have to go out of your way to find such simple things. You know what other amazing feature it possesses? Enemies drop a cube of additional resources upon death, which you are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh. Boring, bad pathing early on. Bad HUD in my opinion, huge gaps between listed specs on models and in play attributes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you played Defense Grid and enjoyed it, this is a game you should try, cause it's quite similar! But you should be warned that some of the stages are really hard to beat. This can be frustrating, cause you have to finish a stage to unlock the next one. I personally liked that challenge, but if you don't own Defense Grid yet, I'd recommend that you get that game before buying Defense Technica, cause Defense Grid is a bit easier and the better game over all. The graphics in Defense Technica…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought on release due to my love of tower defense. Very bland. Iphone port probably doesn't help the complexity. 3/10 Don't buy even if you like tower defense.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cheap copy of Defense Grid
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can understand why there are so many negative reviews for this game, at one point I was getting frustrated with it but I'm glad I persevered because overall I had a lot of fun with it. It's a Tower Defense similar in looks to Defense Grid. I'm not going to compare it to Defense Grid because I haven't played Defense Grid (this game was cheaper in a sale). It's a good looking game with a lot more depth to it than the many 'flash' style TDs out there. The towers and enemy animations are really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good tower defense if you like challenge. There aren't certain super powered tower in this game, it depends on what enemy's type(s) gonna hit you next (light-bio,light-mecha etc). Mazing options are quite puzzling! once you found the perfect one, you'll get a killer maze, so its not just some random-placed tower grid. Towers are quite varied and their upgrade paths are interesting and fun. Level designs are solid and seem well thought, I especially like their level-transformation concept and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Being tasked to create a game that is the exact same as another game must be an unjolly life. Many EA employees are subject to such fates, and as Defense Technica showcases, Devolver Digital are no strangers to the concept. If you want "a harder Defense Grid", this might not be the worst choice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you saw this and thought "did Defense Grid make a sequel?" you will be in for a disappointment. It has a similar art direction and thats it. The game is very ... lackluster at best. The missions and upgrades are run of the mill. THe maps are average at best. I didn't get a single map that I set things up on and went "man this is awesome". Most of the game suffers from the fact that it has one way to be played. If you like seeing if you can defeat it with different combos, you are going to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BAD BAD BAD. How the heck did it end up in my library? If it is not too late for you reader: Do not buy Defense Grid!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some awful level design. They just tried to be way too cute with the design. It's not a strategy game if there's ONLY ONE WAY to beat a level. Strategy games are fun when you can think your way through it, and after playing the same level for a half hour I finally had to cut my losses. Uninstalled after 3 hours and like 10 levels.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple tower defence game. It seems to be a blatant copy of Defence Grid: Awakening, but without many of it's good points. Do not buy this if you like tower defence, buy Defence Grid instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game just feels clunky. I know its a tablet port but you have to put some damn effort into it. Also looks significantly worse than games older than it (again due to rushed port nature).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could say that this was a good tower defense game. But the best I can say is it's decent and high maintenance. Yes, you have to collect the resources by mouse explicitly. Which brings to mind some explicit language on why the designers thought that was a good idea. Pretty, kind of fun, and passable. But there are better games. Find one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 felt like i was forced to put down the same two towers every level once you drop the 1st tower the game just starts, no way to pause and build no fast forward, some levels take ages.... even on easy settings one wrong tower drop would cost you the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Complete rip-off of other Tower Defence games. Don't bother with this and go for the original.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dont understand all the negative reviews, I found this to be a fun and rewarding tower defense game. Yes, many people compared it to Defense Grid, and no, its not Defense Grid (but then neither was Defense Grid 2). I've the best part of 500 hours in DG, but it didn't stop me enjoying Defense Technica. There's really only one flaw in the game - namely the lack of a rewind, forcing you to restart a map if you are looking for "100% health, 100% ether" but find an alien getting through a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bugs bugs bugs The best dug is: To get medals, move to towers info, try to unlock tower upgrade..... and No, You can just listen the klik klik klik on mouse the mpin mpin mpin sound on game but it never unlock...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tower defence with rather standard level design and tower design. Levels dont seem very balanced as some require you to sell/build to mess with the pathing of the attackers. Game seems like a bad console port and as I was on my last 2 achievements the game crashed and reset my progress.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a lot like defense grid, defense grid is a good game, therefore this is a good game. They just made it a bit more difficult than defense grid. Don't give the game a bad review just because you're bad at it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically a more puzzle style Defense Grid. The tower defense mechanics are fantastic and the maps are very diverse and dynamic, though the story is a bit lacking. If you enjoyed DG, you'll likely enjoy this. It's very challenging to get 3 gold stars - but there are many options to deal with the aliens if you're not worried about getting a perfect 100%
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Outstanding tower defense game. Quite challenging compared to other games in this genre
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/lWPck_dEyZU Slow pace progression with a tight economy adds up to an experience that restricts experimentation and focuses too much on waiting for play to happen.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a knock off of defense grid, but its also a very fun game .Im a huge fan of defense grid and I own both their games and all thier DLC content ,but that content didn't last long at all and I was left looking for more. This game filled that void.Similar mechanics and towers to defense grid ,but they have a very interesting mechanic that allows you to spec and respec all your turrets to suit your needs depending on the map and eneimes .In a genre thats lacking quality games a game like this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very low grade copy of defense grid (which is actually decent and you should buy). I hope these idiots are bankrupt by now. Can't believe I paid money for this garbage.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played completely through this game and both Defense Grid and Defense Grid 2. I don't think the other reviewers have played through this game entirely. While there may be similarities between this game and the Defense Grid games, there are also very significant differences. Since so many other reviewers are comparing the two games, I will as well. One of the biggest differences is that you can add upgrade ability to your towers between levels which carries over. In Defense Grid…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is actually pretty great so long as you let go of your expectations of what a tower defense should be. There is no pause, but this is to emphasize the tension of racing to get towers built in time. It is kind of charming in an old-school way when you fail because you weren't fast enough. The first night I played this I got frustrated around level 9, but after thinking about and going back to it the next day I beat the level solidly. After beating the game, I even went back and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game starts slow, (More if you compare it with other games) Then you realize the best stuff is saved for later... An when you realize how difficult... or , let´s say "Complex" it becomes with level design, Then you have an Excellent challenge to solve. To all the reviewers with a thumb down, I would say it's fair to do that if they have been playing Defense Grid, but when you find the time to solve the complex levels of Defense Technica... it becomes a VERY rewarding experience. I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like it. It is equal to defense grid, but with an own touch. You need other strategies to complete the levels. But there is not time, where the game goes boring. For every tower defender, this is a must have. For little money, you have maximum fun and challange.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a very good port from the mobile (iOS/Android) version
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not too bad, I'll have to try it with a controller before I pass ultimate judgement, I found Defense zone 1 & 2 to be more addicting and fun, this is definately more challenging.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game seemed so cool. Quite good graphic, interresting and plenty towers, maps with many paths and good design. The problem that it have difficult spikes walls. I reached a big map where I have no clue what to do. In games there is difficulty when you feel, ok I lost this but I know what should I do, but not here. I tried that map alot of times, realy. There I feel all my towers is ineffective. As some said earlier few maps is rather a puzzle with only one way to finish and you may copy it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this because it looked like a tower defense game where they put in a bit of effort - there's decent graphics, it's 3D... what could go wrong? It's a terrible console port, that's what went wrong. The control scheme is inexplicably bad. The assumption is that a game controller is plugged in, but a mouse is not. Of course you can tweak your game settings, but you don't actually get to use your mouse apart from ramming the invisible pointer to the edge of the screen so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I paid for this game, it is way out of balance .... way too hard to play even on the normal mode. There is no EASY mode for the game. It is not fun to play a game that you always lose. There is no motivation to play the game if you never win. Waste of money in my view. Mike
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm glad I only spent a $1.50 on this. It is a poor port - I'm stuck at the very beginning of the game, where it says "press the key." No key is specified and nothing works to trigger the first wave. I found two forum posts from two years ago complaining about the exact same issue, with a developer response asking for more information. I guess they haven't gotten around to fixing the issue yet . . . LOL.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth it, even on sale. Buy Plants vs Zombies or something like that instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ENG: Like most of people before me - I was hoping for Defense Grid rival, or AT LEAST good clone. I am dissapointed. Not many towers, no upgrades, unsatisfying maps, no rewards (only stars for maps, which represent how much hp your core had at the end). If you're looking for good tower defense - keep looking. PL: Miałem nadzieję na mocnego rywala (albo przynajmniej udaną podróbkę) Defense Grid. Niestety lipa. Mało wieżyczek, brak ulepszeń, niezadowalające mapy, brak nagród za wyjątkiem…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Borrows heavily from both Defense Grid and Sol Survivor, although attempts to blend in some additional touches e.g. the weather impact on some tower types. Game balance tilted on the hard side. Writing is appalling. Overall lacks polish. Campaign is relatively short, and lacks any additional features like survival modes. It is functional enough and enjoyable for a few hours - recommended only once you've completed the better titles in the genre and on if you really just need that extra…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →highly addictive and just a wee bit "AHHH, I KILL U....stupid game" hours of funstration
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, lots of nice options and plenty of replayability. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An obvious port of a smaller screen game: low resolution interface elements, silly default mouse settings and strange tutorial methods. Save your money.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you are hardcore about not giving up, then this game will put you to the test. pour a lot of time into playing each level to max out your points in order to earn your upgrades. then there is the timing, slow camera movement, and times where it glitches while playing at the worst time. again, this game will test you. is it worth buying? ---> no. how bout on sale? ---> no. i haven't seen it on sale before, but glitches might happen here too. so if you like tower defense games and want to be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Defense Technica by Kuno Interactive is a tower defense game that strives to offer a fresh and challenging experience within a genre known for its strategic depth and repetitive gameplay. Released in 2013, the game sets itself apart by utilizing fully 3D environments and dynamic battle conditions, which attempt to raise the stakes and complexity beyond traditional tower defense titles. While the game shows promise in some areas, it also reveals notable flaws that impact the overall enjoyment…
