DayZ
Developer Bohemia Interactive
DayZ is a multiplayer online survival video game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive. It is the standalone game based on the mod of the same name for Arma 2. Following a five-year-long early access period for Windows, the game was officially released in December 2018, and was released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2019. The game places the player in multiple fictional countries, where a mysterious… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

I am a long-time DayZ player who invests time, money, and passion into your game, especially into modded servers that add depth, quality, and long-term value to the experience. Your decision to block the TERJE mod is a direct blow to your community. This is a highly polished, innovative, and professional mod, featuring advanced skill systems and mechanics that significantly enhance gameplay. It represents countless hours of hard work by a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DayZ is, at its core, a genuinely brilliant game. The survival atmosphere, the constant tension, those moments when you're starving and finally find a can of sardines, and the way every encounter with a stranger turns into real drama - there’s simply nothing else quite like it. In concept and in those rare moments when everything works, it's one of the best games in the genre BUT Right now, DayZ has one massive, ugly, impossible-to-ignore problem — cheaters. And this isn’t just "you run into…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i absolutely love this game, but the cheating problem has become intolerable. there is a group of cheaters in 0724 SA official that hunt freshies every weekend night, and they have done in for YEARS. i don't think that the playerbase, who payed for the game, should be forced to join community servers just to *minimize* this issue. i plea to anyone who reads this, help me to review bomb it, it's the only way it will be fixed. i also plea to the devs, to bohemia, please fix your game, it is the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not supporting this game anymore. I have not agreed with thе direction the DayZ team has taken with this gаme. Let me remind you as a player. This game hаs been out for 12 YEARS PEOPLE. And now they finally аdd 2-wheeled vehicles with the desert map? The lack of meaningful сontent for a game that's been around this long іs honestly mind-blowing. I already know peoplе are going to say, "Have you tried modded servеrs?" Yes, I have. I've been playing DayZ since thе DayZ mod for Arma 2…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Counting way beyond 2200 playing hours, I am now forced to leave a negative review. Keep reading if you want to know what a disaster this game has turned into: Since months already, Bohemia Interactive seem to not give the slightest f*** about their community - and the disregard for long-term supporters/payers now has reached a level which can only be labeled disgusting. The Terje mod situation has been discussed many times by other people leaving reviews. That´s not even my main issue: DayZ…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Subject: An Open Letter Regarding the Unconscionable Treatment of Terje Mods and the Community To Bohemia Interactive and the DayZ Development Team, I am writing to express my profound disappointment and frustration with your recent decision to ban Terje mods from the Steam Workshop. This move represents not just a misstep, but a fundamental betrayal of the community that has kept DayZ alive long after your own development efforts stalled. Let's be clear about what Terje mods brought to DayZ:…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →never played such a dysfunctional game before that has safer community servers than official servers. This is how my experience went after not playing for years: Spawn in official server chernarus with the bros, raid what feels like a dev room and had us feeling like kids in a candy shop, build our base, raid a couple other bases we stumble upon, I decide to play during low pop only 5 players or so and head into a town, hear nothing then see a ghillie suit with suppressed m4 aimbotting and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game in theory, but Bohemia has done next to nothing to address the MASSIVE cheating problems on official servers and instead focus on releasing paid DLC to no ones surprise. If you're going to buy the game avoid full pop official servers like the plague or just play community.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game used to be my favorite of all time, but now I cannot say the same. Every official server has cheaters. It is clear the devs do not even care. How hard could it be to install a new anti cheat into the game? Instead, they put all their assets into maps. Since official servers are unable to be played, this strips away 75% of the game that you are buying. This leaves us with the other 25% of the game: community servers. Do not even think about playing these to avoid cheating. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unplayable due to cheaters. you cannot enjoy this game because it,s full of hackers, especially on official servers . the anti-cheat is absolute garbage and does literally nothing to stop them . waste of time and money until they fix this. instead of fixing these core issues , the developers are busy creating new maps to make more money , leaving us with absolutely no playable maps free of cheaters. this greed and neglect is exactly why the game is slowly dying. AVOID until they actually care…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game I've ever played. I recommend trying it out. Don't get mad at dying. it's not your loot. It's only your turn with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DayZ is a survival game where you spawn with a glow stick, an apple, and the confidence of a man who will be dead in 7 minutes. You will: Spend 3 hours looting to find a single can of beans Die to a cold because you wore the wrong pants Make a lifelong friend through interpretive crouching Get betrayed for a plum Gunfights are intense, tactical, and usually end because your gun jammed, your shoes ruined, or you forgot to load the magazine into the gun. Zombies? Mild…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a game you can win. This is not a game with a clear goal, Theres no mission, no objective. This is one of those games where the enjoyment is in the journey. You wont remember getting that top tier weapon. You wont remember getting your car to run. You will remember that weird guy eating spaghetti. You will remember that crazy squad that tied people and then released them and gave them a gun and bid them farewell. You will remember the many betrayals. You will remember losing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is hands down one of my favorite games of all time... with that being said it speaks volumes as to why im leaving a bad review. the memories you make with friends and even random people are unlike any game. the only issue is the blatant hackers. Im not talking about getting mad bc you died and are suspecting a cheater. im talking about the hackers who will freeze you in time, show you they can run a million miles an hour, and then kill you with a falling boat, all while they destroy a life…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got knocked unconscious with a rubber bullet, I woke up handcuffed being force-fed gasoline and my brothers flesh.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game but due to the big cheater problem (also with 1st person only) on official servers I cannot recommend it until it gets fixes. I will happily edit this review if the issue gets fixed with a cheater report system for example. There is another problem where sometimes you cannot pick up items that where places. 50 € is too much money for this beta like state but if it is on discount for 5-20 € you can go for it. The DLCs are also tremendously overpriced imo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played in 2019. I played in 2021. It was dramatically better. Now I have put 90+ hours into the game in two weeks after returning, and my conclusion is simple: I cannot trust the game anymore. That destroys DayZ at its core. In the last two weeks I played on two official servers. On one server I was killed inside my own base. I am 100% sure nobody was inside. I was just killed through the base. On another official server someone moved a wall of our base. I have screenshots. My teammate…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who fell in love with this game during the days of the ARMA 2 mod, it genuinely breaks my heart that I have just played it for the last time. I simply cannot recommend this game with the rampant hacking scene that plagues it. At its core, DayZ is honestly one of the most unique experiences in gaming, no other game comes close for me. But spending days building up a character just to drop dead in the middle of a forest with no one around isn't a fun time. It was manageable in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After spending a long time playing Counter-Strike 2 and ARC Raiders, I started to feel burned out and wanted to try something completely new. That's when I discovered DayZ. And honestly, I fell in love with it. DayZ is easily one of the greatest survival games ever made. In my opinion, it's even better than Rust and Escape from Tarkov in terms of atmosphere, tension, and immersion. After only a few dozen hours, it quickly became one of my favorite games. Once I bought it, I found myself playing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →buy this game if you want to experience the worst aspects of humanity. This game has only amplified my distain for humanity; I will never play it again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the game. Wish I could continue to play it, but the cheating is just rampant. It ruins what could really be something special. You basically have to choose between official servers, where there's a 50/50 chance a cheater will kill you through a wall, or the community servers, where the admins play god and give away your location to their buddies. What's wrong with people? I will never understand how playing a game like that could be fun or rewarding. Oh well.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really, really love this game, but until BI figures out how to patch game ruining exploits, I can't recommend anyone spend their money on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The official servers have more hackers than Tarkov, the game doesn't give you a report option because Devs don't care.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m not someone who normally plays video games. I discovered DayZ by chance when I saw my coworker’s child playing it at work. The atmosphere immediately caught my attention. I still can’t properly use the W-A-S-D keys, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I never expected a video game to interest me this much. DayZ doesn’t guide me gently; Even though I struggled with the controls, the tension and realism kept me playing. It feels less like a game and more like a survival experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, BUT, its full of hackers or bugs that still get you killed out of the blue. In few hours of playing, dead in the middle of woods with great gear, hidden, running. Just plain hacker bullet from miles a way insta kills you. Its just no point in playing when your loot ownership is up to which hackers decides to play on your server. Then it happens over and over again. You just insantly die without any warnings in hidden places where no one is even around.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, playing this game feels less like a difficult-but-rewarding “hardcore” video game and more like working a full-time job (with overtime, and without the pay). It’s mostly tedious and boring for no reason, and it also doesn’t feel like a true hardcore game (it feels more gamified). However, it’s undoubtedly unmatched when it comes to pvp, but you’ll rarely get a taste of it until you’re several hundred hours in. The new player experience is probably more punishing than it used to be a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DayZ 3,000 Hours Later This game just keeps on giving. At first it’s brutal. There’s no tutorial or hand-holding. You learn by dying again and again, but that’s part of what makes it so good. The learning curve is steep, but once you start figuring things out it becomes incredibly rewarding. There’s always something new to learn like sickness, hypothermia, fractures, finding food, clean water and of course surviving other players. You can’t trust anyone in DayZ, but sometimes giving a little…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i feel like i now have enough hours in this game to post my view as it stands i will not currently be recommending this game to anyone based entirely on the fact that every update seems to be filled with broken promises like "400% server performance increase" every single time a major update comes out it breaks more than one of the main features or components of the game for example... after the 1.29 update players would randomly die by simply logging out of the game, die to invisible…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like others the BI has lost me overnight with the removal of Terje Mods and their lack of care and suport for their loyal modding community. I feel for the server owners who invested so much of their time, now wasted. ugly stuff :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DayZ is the most broken masterpiece I’ve ever loved. It will starve you, betray you, glitch you, and emotionally damage you in ways no AAA studio would dare attempt. And you’ll thank it for the experience. There is no other game that turns a can of beans into a moral dilemma and a distant gunshot into a life decision. No hand-holding. No quest markers. Just you, a ruined coastline, and the constant suspicion that the guy waving at you has duct tape and bad intentions. Vanilla is…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love this game. I’ve put an insane amount of hours into DayZ. 356 hours on PC and around 1,500 hours on PlayStation. Needless to say, I highly recommend this game. Whether you play with friends or go solo, you’re in for a great time. DayZ has given me some really good friendships and countless great memories over the years. When you first start playing, you’ll probably have no idea what you’re doing or where you are. 😂 Don’t worry, that’s completely normal. The more you play,…

Aside from a few annoying bugs DAYZ is a one of a kind zombie, pvp, pve, massive multiplayer online,. fps, game. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Agonizing, Unforgiving, Brilliant 7/10 Masterpiece Review: To review DayZ is, in itself, an act of survival. You must endure hours of hardship, frustration, and existential dread, only to emerge on the other side, blinking into the sun, unsure if you’ve just had a profound experience or wasted 500 hours of your life. The answer, as it turns out, is "Yes." This is not a "game" in the traditional sense. This is a sociological experiment with a terrible frame rate. It’s a high-stakes,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the game but it has a HORRIBLE anti-cheat, me and my teamates always have a decent run going and end up running into some type of cheater be it flyhacks, aimbot, wall hacks, or just full on rage cheats. For example me and my teamate spawn into our base and it was raided, we were determined to go loot up to make it all back before we hear some guy walking outside who ends up shooting both of us through the walls without us making a single sound in base. At this point I have had about five…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the worst game i have ever played. with over 1000 hours of getting screwed by hackers, players, bears, and other random bs. From bears glitching through walls to cars just deciding to kill you when driving, this game will continue to find ways to make you quit. This game is broken, glitchy as hell, and thrives when you feel like throwing your pc of a building. Yet despite all this i still come back to it. 10/10

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bohemia will never have this game running in a state that will leave you smiling. If you buy this game on PC you can literally not play the game the way its meant to be played. YOU HAVE TO PLAY the community servers with admins online LOL you WILL die from magic bullets on the official servers. and the community servers are all so far removed from what the core game is meant to be. so enjoy NOT playing DayZ its literally a mod of a game that you can only play by modding the current build of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My crew and I have played since the alpha, and although there have been a lot of ups and downs with cheaters of every variety, long waits for updates, and a long list of ever present bugs...There's just no other game that provides this kind of adrenaline rush. If you like immersion and adrenaline, this game is for you. Best experienced with a few friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loaded into a game with my 2 friends. Took about 2-3 hours to find each other. Finally found each other but no food. big town with absolutely nothing to offer. I become sacrifice to save friends. Die and let friends cook my body. Giggle chicken. Death of 2 friends. Will never eat the giggle chicken again. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The official servers are good to learn the basics but not the best DayZ experience. Finding a good Vanilla+ community server is way better. Probably the best survival game for a solo if you dont have any friends like me haha. Id recommend getting it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full off cheaters, and dying/getting raided here and you lose everything. Very good game ruined by crappy game engine design that, like other shooters in our time, sends enemy data to the client. Save your time and money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After a lot of years of not touching it, I've been playing some DayZ again this week! I keep dying lol, but the survival is a lot of fun? I made a fire in the middle of the woods at night and it felt so immersive and cozy ⛺ Special game for sure 😇

No other game will have you remember you're time with friends better than this game. Camping in the…

You'll laugh, you'll rage, you'll swear you're uninstalling, and then five minutes later you'll be loading back in for "one more run." Every death becomes a story, every fresh spawn is a new adventure, and somehow the…

I’m excited for DayZ 2 but also worried that it will change so much it’ll never be the way it is now. Sure it’s buggy and has some hackers on vanilla servers but that’s all just part of the fun. I’ve met people from different parts of the world that I have been friends with for years and DayZ made that happen. You can do whatever you want and play however you like. The community servers make sure to have a place for any…

unlabelledView post →What a game… I bought it, spawned on the beach, and a player runs up to me and says: “Eh, kill me man!” and starts punching me. Since I had no idea what I was doing and couldn’t even figure out how to punch properly, he killed me. If that isn’t cinema, I don’t know what is. What a game… For noobs: don’t waste more than 10 hours on official servers. Just learn the basics, then jump into a modded server like DayOne or Zero. Those are way better for beginners and your future lives....
