The X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe when one of their own, Jean Grey, starts to spiral out of control. During a rescue mission in outer space, Jean is nearly killed when she's hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. The X-Men must now band together to save her soul and battle aliens that want to use… From TMDB

unlabelledView post →The Dark Phoenix movie lost me at the outset when the caption said 1975 and 1978's Werewolves of London was playing on the car radio. I could go on, 'cause I'm weird and remember stuff...
unlabelledView post →I’m pretty sure it was @jayjurden.bsky.social who pointed out that the Dark Phoenix movie inexplicably gives her Lorna Dane’s backstory.
unlabelledView post →i read Dark Phoenix before the new movie came out so i will not be called a Jean Grey tourist in fact i get to decide that she would be vegetarian if she was a teen today and Peter has to order way ahead of time so that she doesn't mind control him into getting falafel instead of lamb
unlabelledView post →Watched X-Men Dark Phoenix This was so much better than Apocalypse. It is also somehow more Power Rangers core than that, a movie that had Ivan Ooze as the antagonist. All of the acting was laughably bad and the villains have a small army at the end for no reason. Still better than several x-films.
unlabelledView post →Lorde’s “Broken Glass” is the first pop song to reference the 2019 X-Men film Dark Phoenix.

unlabelledView post →Shockingly, I've found The Last Stand to be the worst entry in the franchise. Later entries are FAR worse than this, but it is an incoherent, muddled mess of a movie. The Cure stuff works better than the Dark Phoenix, but this is such an obvious case of studio mandates and more is more.
unlabelledView post →X-Men: Apocalypse I genuinely loved First Class and Days of Future Past, and I was hyped to see Apocalypse played by Oscar Issac, but BY GOD that movie dropped the ball big time. Such a massive letdown… Dark Phoenix was at least such a mess that it was hilarious to watch.
unlabelledView post →Now watching. It’s so funny that this is now only the SECOND worst attempt at adapting Dark Phoenix in a movie. I think this movie is stupid and “fine.” It’s not good, but there’s plenty I like in it. Beast is perfect.
unlabelledView post →Worst mainline X-Men film ever. Like, Avengers Endgame was almost three hours long and didn't feel like so. Dark Phoenix despite being one hour and 57 minutes, felt like 3 hours long and man everybody in this movie looked so, so done.
unlabelledView post →just rewatched all the rebooted xmen movies and I fucking couldn’t remember how Dark Phoenix ended. Mystique dead, Quicksilver tripped and was MIA for the rest of the movie, Jean Grey supposedly dead but there’s a firey bird just cruising the skies at the end while Magneto and Prof X play CHESS?
unlabelledView post →Bit of a milestone this week, as Dark Phoenix is the 100th film I’ve logged on Letterboxd! Probably would’ve preferred it to be Doctor Strange had I realized it beforehand, but oh well, lol #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched
unlabelledView post →Also Makkari and Druig are so cute together! But anyways Dark Phoenix (2019) is my favorite X-Men movie (I actively hate Logan) and I have a soft spot for Batman & Robin (1997), so maybe I'm not allowed to have superhero movie opinions.
unlabelledView post →They kind of assassinated the character twice, first in Last Stand and again in Dark Phoenix. 😔 Hey, lookee here... Last Stand: Written by - Simon Kinberg, Zak Penn Dark Phoenix: Directed by - Simon Kinberg Written by - Simon Kinberg Produced by - Simon Kinberg
unlabelledView post →I didn't even know Selene was in the Dark Phoenix film wtf. The X-Men films keep referencing characters in the background like easter eggs without teaching me who they are which is a small pet peeve. Selene is a mutant older than Apocalypse which is pretty cool
unlabelledView post →Funny thing is, I was watching the Projector review by Film Brain about Dark Phoenix again yesterday and it never did make sense to me the timeline of First Class to that movie where everyone looked the same from the 60s to the 90s.
unlabelledView post →There hasn't been a proper X-Men film since Dark Phoenix six years ago. And for some reason that was done by the same asshat who fucked up Last Stand.
unlabelledView post →I've never actually watched the full film in its entirety... The second I learned they were fasttracking to Dark Phoenix Saga while disregarding Cyclops, I knew it wasn't worth my time... And the fact that the writer went on to repeat THE EXACT SAME MISTAKES with his turn as director! #FizzVsComics
unlabelledView post →Time for a movie! Tonight's first randomly selected movie is... Nice! The last Xmen movie I haven't seen yet! Dark Phoenix, 2019
unlabelledView post →At the time, THIS was the weakest film in the X-Men series... Then... immediately afterwards, it was followed by X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Then X-Men: Apocalypse. And then after that, Dark Phoenix. But anyway, the point is this film at least had some cool scenes and ideas, just was overcrowded.
unlabelledView post →Incorrect. We need one Dark Phoenix movie per decade. Remember when Cyclops dropped an F bomb? Worth the price of admission 🤪
unlabelledView post →If Dazzler was ever introduced as a main film character on film, it would be a crime not to cast Taylor Swift. Back in the day I would have said Olivia Newton-John. She had a brief cameo in Dark Phoenix portrayed by Halston Sage. My head canon perfect Dazzler is Cynthia Rhodes from Staying Alive
unlabelledView post →Aside from Wolverine grinding the film to a halt in one scene, Jubilee not getting to do anything and the climax running a little too long, I still don't get the hate for X-Men: Apocalypse. But I agree with whoever considers First Class the best prequel film and Dark Phoenix the weakest.
unlabelledView post →The only reason it's not the worst X-Men movie is that the acting is mostly good and John Powell's score is fantastic. This is almost Dark Phoenix level.
unlabelledView post →Get you a mental illness so bad you start unironically liking the Dark Phoenix X-Men movie
unlabelledView post →Dolan Mystique(Dark Phoenix movie)
unlabelledView post →me and my brother could not think of anything else to do together besides watch X-Men: Dark Phoenix and gawk at how bad it is. the last main X-Men film we haven’t seen.
unlabelledView post →Remember when they made a DARK PHOENIX movie and no one gave a shit? That was weird.
unlabelledView post →So I do kinda worry with the announcement that Adam Driver might be Sebastian Shaw that they’re gonna do the Dark Phoenix in the very first MCU Xmen film… REALLY HOPE NOT
unlabelledView post →🦅 EPISODE 154 - DARK PHOENIX 🦅 The movie that bombed so hard it killed a multi-billion dollar franchise. We’re talking 2019’s DARK PHOENIX
unlabelledView post →I have done it. I finished Dark Phoenix. I have seen every x-men film and I can proudly say that movie blew chunks. The only thing I was pleased with was that the franchise ended the way it should have. Charles and Erik being in love on a cute coffee date.
unlabelledView post →And I have now finished watching Black Adam, so on to the next god-fight movie: X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Another movie that I love that most people didn't seem to. (After this, it'll be The Marvels.)
unlabelledView post →I'm watching X-Men 3 Last Stand 🧵 horrible Dark Phoenix saga movie, but the outfit for Jean changed my brain chemistry for the better
unlabelledView post →Now onto SPIDER-MAN 3, and the symbiote, like Dark Phoenix, feels like one of those popular comics stories that’s difficult to translate to film because they’re so narratively reliant on serialized storytelling.
unlabelledView post →Wait didn’t Mystique die in Dark Phoenix??? X-Men movie continuity makes no fkin sense to me I swear to god
unlabelledView post →My X-Men movie watch through has once again brought me to a movie I have not seen before And in this case, have actively avoided up until now It's time to watch Dark Phoenix
unlabelledView post →Time for breakfast and a movie! Today's randomly selected movie is... Nice, almost done with the while series. Only 2 more Xmen movies after this. Dark Phoenix, and New Mutants. Xmen: Apocalypse, 2016
unlabelledView post →Michael Fassbender as Magneto in Dark Phoenix. Fassie really killed it in a movie that sucked nards.
unlabelledView post →I'm watching Dark Phoenix. It cannot be a coincidence that the evil military group in the film is literally called MCU.
unlabelledView post →Can't wait until we hit the Dark Phoenix saga again then they re-fuck up the movie timeline a 3rd/4th/5th time

unlabelledView post →I’ve finished what I can of my X-Men rewatch (just finished DOFP, my fave, and haven’t decided if I’ll subject myself to Apocapypse or Dark Phoenix, neither of which I own. Logan is coming to me in a care package later on). So, onto something very different from my Movie Library Rewatch of Doom…
unlabelledView post →Remember X-MEN: APOCALYPSE? The movie featuring Oscar Isaacs as the Mummy from THE MUMMY films? If not, then you passed the test: no such film ever existed. I was just trying to trigger a false memory in you, like the two DARK PHOENIX X-Men films that never existed

unlabelledView post →third time's the charm, but the thing about Dark Phoenix is that you have to have built up Jean Gray *and* the Phoenix instead of trying to hotshot it into one movie. That ish doesn't work any more than opening with Civil War would have
unlabelledView post →I don't know why anyone would think it's even close, as a franchise, Spider-Man has had more movies and spin-offs (see what I did there) than anything else. The only one that comes close is X-Men and box office there hasn't been stellar. unlabelledView post →Seeing @thehell.zone react to the First Class X-Men movie series has been great Watching his slow descent into madness with Apocalypse His boiling anger over Dark Phoenix Great, stuff, 10/10
unlabelledView post →one of three X-Men movies I somehow haven’t seen, maybe someday I’ll watch Dark Phoenix and New Mutants for a like dozen movie franchise where I only unambiguously like two of them, I sure have seen a lot of them
unlabelledView post →@legalminimum.bsky.social doesn’t understand the forces he’s playing with here. I grew up with the Chris Claremont X-Men. I started with Dark Phoenix and bought every issue through Storm and Forge. I’m still cranky about the Dark Phoenix movie. @oceanbound.bsky.social still won’t watch it with me.
unlabelledView post →The movie where they poorly adapted 2 very different comic book arcs and also the final conflict between the X-Men and the Brotherhood all in 1 film. Adapting the Dark Phoenix storyline that couldn’t work because they killed off Cyclops very early on.
unlabelledView post →She was a plot device and not the plot in a Dark Phoenix movie...
unlabelledView post →She was amazing in Brand New Day. Ironic that Spider-Man gave us a better version of Dark Phoenix (Though I'm aware not the exact Dark Phoenix character) on screen than both X-Men The Last Stand and Dark Phoenix film. You know what I mean
unlabelledView post →I wonder how long it'll take for the MCU to push the big red "do Dark Phoenix" button, it took the second film iteration of Jean Gray less than one movie to start doing it
unlabelledView post →I loved that movie while I watched it, but then I’ve always happily admitted that I like the later X-Men movies for the nostalgia value. Watching Dark Phoenix feels like watching the film I would have hoped a sequel would be when I was a child.
