However, once you reach a certain milestone and collect enough specific items, you unlock Tarot cards that function as alternate classes. Each card provides unique abilities; one summons a clone that deals half your damage, while another periodically spawns a star that attacks enemies. There are only three main weapon types. The spear is a close-range weapon that…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of the mechanics changed in the last update turning this into a more generic experience. No longer recommending it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't even know where to start with this game. But going off the cuff, there are so MANY DIFFERENT WAYS TO BUILD. Different class levels -> Different types of abilities. Tarot cards that can give cool ability or you can hold them for a passive. Im still working on doing more of the endless dream and clearing/unlocking all the available tarot cards but its been a great experience. It can seem like a lot initially to look at but trust the process. It works out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very confusing VampS-like at first. Once you understand the mechanics it is a little better, but I have a few gripes. I do like the art style first of all, that and the soundtrack. It has a rather creepy doll from hell vibe. The mechanics are solid where you gain powerups through eggs. You then have the choice of activating them or eating them for different effects. My major gripe with this is by mid-game you are going to need to go through a lot of eggs with no real way to sort them. It…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Big fan of survivor games but this one isn't clicking with me. Feels unbalanced, tedious and too reliant on luck. Trying to maintain the desired attack pattern is obnoxious, especially when the only options deviate from your direction and even ruin your build. In this genre, you would usually craft a wacky build with some degree of control over it but here it's like you're forced to adapt to what you're given, otherwise you tend to fall behind on damage and currency. Most items have a mix…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am more than mildly addicted to this game. The more I play, the more I understand some of the mechanics. The more I understand, the more I play. It is a vicious cycle and yet I am loving every moment of it. From the art to the mechanics to the nods to different fairy tales, this is a beautiful piece of art. Thank you to the devs for the opportunity to try this game and to fall in love with it. I have a few friends who will find this in their virtual stocking come Christmas.

Released in 2025, the game casts players as Pinocchio, navigating a nightmarish dream world filled with distorted versions of classic storybook characters. Combining strategic movement, one-handed auto-shooting mechanics, and resource management, it offers a fast-paced yet…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun Survivors like with a fairy tale twist, some cards/ability systems and enough to keep you going for a while. I admit it could use a little more variety especially in level backgrounds/music as if you're on the grind to 100% like myself it can get a little maddening BUT that being said my only real gripe isn't even with this game just... please stop making *purely* rng achievements.

unlabelledView post →One of my least favourite games in the genre. The way your attacks work is just so backwards and you barely have any control over how you are going to attack. The system in general is somewhat interesting, but it's not something I wanna wrap my head around. The balancing is also terrible. There is a system in place where you can make the game harder by consuming things throughout the run. Well, have fun destroying trash-mobs without problems while boss-size monsters take absolute ages to kill.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Challenging bullet heaven with unique mechanics. Pretty repetitive & grindy, but a lot of build freedom. Worth checking out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whenever i open the game i get stuck in the title screen because it is zoomed in. Im unable getting to the settings to change the language to english or actually get the screen in the right proportions to play the game. When i tap out of the game, and tap back in the screen freezes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of survivor-like games, Dreamland Survivors definitely offers a fresh and interesting experience. The weapon combinations and the way you use items from your backpack add a lot of variety and fun to each run. However, the biggest issue with the game is that it punishes you for leveling up. While not every Egg has this effect, most of the ones you collect come with a "Nightmare Mark." The Nightmare Mark is a double-edged sword. On one hand, you need it to upgrade your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The demo was a ton of fun! It has a very unique bullet heaven vibe and tons of ability to build your character despite only having 3 "weapons" currently. You have unlockable skill boosts and depending on what eggs you equip vs consume and which attack skill is strongest, you get totally different weapon combo builds. I am very interested to see if the full release gives more map and enemy variety because that is really all it needs to be great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good dark fairy tale style of tarot card game, the game style is very powerful, let a person shine at the moment, very interesting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →updated review update 1.0.4.12 Devs listened to some feedback and game is in a a great workable direction. character growth has clear forward strength progression from 'dream' to 'dream' and that feels fantastic from where the game was before. Original review rather confusing start, but interesting concept for builds, but the losing character progress, (permanent character progress) when you fail to survive the optional boss, is kind of bland. the thumbs down is for the optional boss. sure its…

unlabelledView post →I'll try just about anything listed as "dark fairy tale" but this feels like a tech demo. Weird ass egg devouring which I really don't understand. Like, why do I have to manually devour eggs when they are just stat increases? It's like you pick them up but then also have to use them which doesn't make any sense. It's a pre-determined stat boost so just give it to me. I have a dozen eggs and have to manually eat them. What.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/aMDPIFgUqmQ While the weird obsession with eggs the survivors like gameplay is limited to raising a few stats often choosing between rewards that are different ranks of the same effect.

Neat little package with a decent amount of meta progression and lots of different character types and difficulties to unlock. the dodge sounds makes me chuckle every time

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well starting a run and it immediately ran horribly so that's not a good sign And immediately get swarmed by enemies that you can't outrun and they just kill you. Default weapon is slow and takes like 5 hits to kill 1 enemy, you start with dozens swarming you and the weapon won't consistently aim at 1 enemy to kill them, and has poor hit box I had the projectile just go right by the enemy being aimed at blatantly Yeah this ain't it chief; dunno how this has so many positive reviews the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game's design is clever. It combines out - of - game growth and ability awakening with in - game dream eggs. This lets you make your own combat style. You can do close - range spear fighting, long - range bullet attacks, or area - of - effect magic seal damage, all with one hand. It feels great to defeat enemies smoothly.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The dark fairy tale style of this survivor-like game really clicks with me, and it seems to have added quite a lot of new stuff compared to the demo. With talent locking, builds come online faster—playing it feels super satisfying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is unique and all but I don't see a reason to do more than one run.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first booted it up today to stream a bit and it was close to two hours before I even realized it. I was and am going to still be addicted to it since it is 100% my type of game considering how much I love Vampire Survivors, Brotato and other auto-attack style games, and with the more dark tone and more that sets it apart from those definitely add to it. If you are a fan of roguelikes and or auto-attack games, do give this a go!

A dark fairy tale roguelite like Vampire Survivors with Cthulhu-style nightmare art. My go-to builds? EXPLOSIVE and RUNE MAGIC — so many OP combos to wreck havoc YOUR way. 10/10 would grind again!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style of Dark Fairy Tales is very in line with my aesthetic, combined with the gameplay of Meat Pigeon Survivors and the Tarot card game mechanism, which greatly improves the playability
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Black Fairy Tales have many outstanding features compared to traditional vampire survivor games. By rewriting the familiar story as the game background with a Western fantasy style, and boldly adding the dream egg mechanism and tarot cards, it ensures the fun of the gameplay, which is really great
