unlabelledView post →Today's #Movie review is "Dark City" This moody, atmospheric sci-fi mystery is a deeply under-appreciated movie that sorta flopped at the box office before developing a cult following. Great cast, a constant mess-with-your-mind plot, and a satisfying conclusion. If you haven't seen it, try it.
unlabelledView post →Yesss watching Dark City. I love this movie, I wish more people knew it
unlabelledView post →Dark City (1998) 🎬🖤 Directed by Alex Proyas
unlabelledView post →Watched Dark City, 10/10, superb freak of a film
unlabelledView post →Tonight I’m watching the movie Dark City for the very first time and you can have a drinking game pointing out parallels with the matrix that’s probably not fare at all on a creative level but you will also be shit faced fast.
unlabelledView post →Dark City (1998) is on Tubi right now and it's fucking great, I can't believe I hadn't seen this film before. I normally fall asleep next to my dog while trying to watch movies at night but I watched this one all the way through without even yawning, strongly recommended
unlabelledView post →Alex Proyas’s visually striking "Dark City" hit US theatres on FEB 27, 1998, 28 years ago today! It also includes standout performances by Rufus Sewell, Jennifer Connelly, Kiefer Sutherland, and William Hurt, just to name a few. The film earned a devoted cult over the years! #DarkCity #16mmInferno

unlabelledView post →DARK CITY (1998) * Watch 4 My first watch of the Director's Cut. A bit longer. Eliminates the spoiler-ish opening voiceover Always enjoyed this film Sci-fi blended with the heart of noir and Hopper's Nighthawks vibes Ebert loved it. I saw it Ebertfest. Great experience
unlabelledView post →DARK CITY has a strong claim to being the most underrated movie of the ‘90s, and Sutherland is a huge piece of it
unlabelledView post →Watching DARK CITY again and boy this is a good-looking movie
unlabelledView post →You know what? Dark City wasn't a bad movie at all. Hard sci-fi was a hard sell in the 90s. It was stylish, weird, and a lot of fun.
unlabelledView post →What’s your favorite movie from every decade of your life 80s: Stop Making Sense 90s: Dark City 00s: American Psycho 10s: Shrek Retold 20s: The People’s Joker

unlabelledView post →The director's cut of Dark City, which removes the opening voiceover by Kiefer Sutherland (among other opening edits, particularly) is a strong improvement. Also, I think, the director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven improves the movie immensely. But as John notes, its not frequently so.
unlabelledView post →There's a handful of movies like this but one thing I love about DARK CITY is that it's premise lets the audience mentally explain away a lot of the kinda shaky elements of the movie as being intentional
unlabelledView post →FNF prez @eddiemuller.bsky.social returns to @hollywoodtheatre.org July 11-13 for #noricityportland. This year’s films star the six actresses profiled in Muller’s newly revised and expanded book, "Dark City Dames: The Wicked Women of Film Noir". Tix: bit.ly/4e7E2G0 #noircity
unlabelledView post →The '90s were a great time for deeply weird sci fi movies, and Alex Proyas' Dark City might be the weirdest of them all: a brilliant collection of ideas and images from classic science fiction and film noir (just avoid the tacked-on prologue)
unlabelledView post →Now rewatching the masterfully made 1998 movie “Dark City” directed by Alex Proyas (The Crow, I Robot). Featuring Rufus Sewell, Jennifer Connelly, Kiefer Sutherland, William Hurt and Richard O’Brien. I love this movie so much.
unlabelledView post →Any fans of the 1998 film, Dark City?
unlabelledView post →Watching Dark City for the first time tonight..the Matrix had me for a long time but you live & learn :) Bittersweet but an amazing film so far… #filmsky 🌀⭐️🦩🩵
unlabelledView post →Dark City is a great movie. More people should watch it.
unlabelledView post →Dark City is a Thanksgiving movie.
unlabelledView post →The director's cut of Dark City is absurdly good. My clearest memory of Dark City as a whole is how the theatrical cut ruins the film right from the beginning, worse than Identity even. But the DC is precisely my shit, a story where you spend the first half figuring out what story you're even in.
unlabelledView post →Ebert's commentary track for DARK CITY where he said he watched the movie frame-by-frame gave him a lifetime pass for me for otherwise bewildering ratings
unlabelledView post →I watched a wild one I'd never seen before tonight. Quite a film, Dark City.
unlabelledView post →Going to see Dark City tonight at the local art house cinema.
unlabelledView post →#TheNoirCollective is back next Wed, Apr 29, when we’ll be making that (postponed) trip to the DARK CITY. I’m hosting. 😊 The film made Charlton Heston a star, and look at the rest of the cast. ⬇️ Everyone’s in this. If you’re of a certain age, *you* might be in it. Link: archive.org/details/dark...
unlabelledView post →Tonight's movie is... Dark City. Somehow I have never seen this movie. I know!! Am I even Gen X!? Rufus Sewell 👀 Also Gothic AF aesthetic from what I see.
unlabelledView post →"You can only imagine the amount of time and effort that was set aside to make this book look so good." unlabelledView post →have decided to watch eXistenZ tonight because I have a theory that it, The Matrix, and Dark City were all different takes on the same movie released at about the same time
unlabelledView post →The Aliens in the film Dark City provided free food and housing to an entire city population. Got everyone to go to sleep easily at a reasonable hour and sometimes you'd wake up not remembering your problems and being rich. Why were they the bad guys again?
unlabelledView post →Just watched Dark City for the first time, and realized that Atlus lifted the idea of the Dark Hour and Tartarus 1:1 from this movie
unlabelledView post →My Batman fantasy film would be very over the top and gothic like Dark City or City of Lost Children, and would 100% feature a found footage section where some goons get hunted.
unlabelledView post →One more DARK CITY post, this time to heap praise upon the trailer, which made the movie seem too good to be true -- and then it wasn't. When I first saw this I thought I was going to lose my mind. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gt9H...

unlabelledView post →Watching Dark City in 4K Because my sister got the new collector edition 🙀
unlabelledView post →I just rewatched Dark City, which I remembered nothing about other than it was very cool and very good. What strikes me is how well lit the film is w/ a depth to the color contrast. Modern stuff is so muted and I dunno if that's digital or just an aesthetic. I just binged Silo and it's so muddy.
unlabelledView post →In Dark City (1998), Dir. Alex Proyas, Film Noir tropes are recreated in a dystopian world where nothing is as it seems. Dark and gloomy, it sets a mood and runs with it. Excellent acting and production design elevate this film, predating The Matrix—it was first to the rodeo. Not to be overlooked. 🎞️
unlabelledView post →I just read Eddie Muller's classic Dark City, an introduction to film noir; it was a huge deal when it first came out, helped establish noir's critical bona fides, and also ended up helping to save some films thought lost. I found it both helpful and intermittently irritating. 1

unlabelledView post →I watched Dark City for the first time tonight and it's a perfect world building movie. Everything feels so cool and lived in without being too much. 10/10 goddamn
unlabelledView post →so I'm watching Alex Proyas' "Dark City" (1998) and its like if The Matrix was NOT a trans allegory
unlabelledView post →Obsessed with the noir meets sci-fi aesthetic of Dark City (Fantastic film, by the way)
unlabelledView post →A new Block Busters for all $5+ patrons! We watched Dark City, a movie that really reminded us of the joy of going to the movies and watching some mid-tier genre fare back when movies still had the magic to them. Shout out to Kiefer. www.patreon.com/posts/block-...
unlabelledView post →Watched "Dark City" for the first time in a long time and I'd forgot how much it's exactly the same movie as "The Matrix," but a year earlier and, I think, actually better.
unlabelledView post →Charlton Heston really tempts us to dislike him in DARK CITY (1950). And he succeeds. He also has no chemistry w/ Lizabeth Scott or Dean Jagger (as the cop). But the film still works for me, thx to the vibe Dieterle, Franz Waxman, D.P. Victor Milner + the supporting cast create. #TheNoirCollective
unlabelledView post →Time to watch an old favourite movie that I haven't seen for years. The new 4K transfer of Dark City.

unlabelledView post →I recall first seeing these in the film Dark City, and thought it was some weird fictional fantasy retrotech thing they made up for the film.
unlabelledView post →Oh, I hear ya. I still have to watch Dark City again one day because I missed the second half of the movie.

unlabelledView post →My favourite black & white film is 'Dark City', which wasn't actually a black and white film for anyone else but it was the first DVD I watched when I got my first DVD player, and I'd done something wrong with the settings or SCART cable or something and I watched it without colour and didn't notice
unlabelledView post →Tonight’s movie is Dark City.
unlabelledView post →Dark City is such a fucking good movie. These sets are so beautiful
unlabelledView post →I'm duty-bound to say that Roger Ebert's commentary track for Dark City is A-MA-ZING. As is the actual movie.
