A little cautious at first, I felt like after playing Necesse and Terraria this would be something similar. It was, and sort of wasn't. It's a fun game initially acquiring resources and starting out, but sort of becomes tedious at times, especially if none of your friends have this game (because it doesn't seem like there is any automation). The graphics and visuals I found to be pretty original and cool, but other parts of the game sort of took the fun out. It's a decent game to say at best,…

This game says it's single player, yet when you try to start it and DENY it phone home capabilities, it will chastise you for even daring to have some semblance of privacy. Then cheekily tell you that if you want to run your single player game, you can do so if you allow it to connect to their data gathering system. How about I tell you no? Emphatically no? DEFIANTLY NO? NO. MEANS. NO. I obviously do not recommend this data harvesting tool.

another game that can't be paused in single-player, ♥♥♥♥ off. everything else is moot with such a dealbreaker but I'll go into details anyway. would be decent if not for the job description that must've said 'competent game developers with common sense need not apply.' more baffling choices: can't change world size, half of it would've been plenty for one player. doesn't concern me but public servers get wiped every 3 months. no updates since feb 2022, no problem with that, but why can't they…

I wish I'd gotten my money back when I could've. The game feels empty and lifeless if you're playing solo/singleplayer. Maybe it would be better with friends, but other games in the same genre play better and feel more enjoyable.

Refunded the game because I was under the impression that it'd come with ready to play multiplayer. Instead you're asked to set up (or rent) a server and I can't be bothered. Would've been nice to know before buying.

Too much grinding and very few variation in world building like biomes, animals, forgeable items etc. I only played 7 hours and I'm already bored and have decided to leave this as a decoration in my steam library. Not worth of the money. Rather spend it on something else.

Played a good bit of this in single player. Might be a different experience in multiplayer. The core gameplay loop exists from day one to day 100. You'll still be out collecting wood, stone, and basic resources late into the game. The resource collection to go from tier to tier is pretty steep and requires heavy grinding. Unfortunately once you tier up, you won't feel a true sense of progression. Instead, you'll feel like you're constantly chasing your own tail, trying to stay ahead of…

This game is a colony sim if you have friends. If you don't then it's just a survival game. There are no pawns to control nor to recruit like in other colony sims. A suggestion for the developers: adding NPC pawns and factions for solo players would make the game way better. Until then, I can’t recommend this game, as I bought it expecting a colony simulator or at least something similar to Necesse.

Developer's had grand plans that had the community hyped in early access. After the initial influx of cash, they spit out a couple pointless cosmetic updates and abandoned the project, releasing the "full" game and indicating they would no longer be developing it. The poster child for why Steam should do away with Early Access titles.

A chore without mods, which are very manual to install, with accessibility hurdles in modding, server creation, tutorial, progression; also scheduled wipes. Suppressing mods leads to QOL problems and lack of replayability. QOL and automation are subpar, with janitorial chores, quick degradation of equipment, leading to exorbitant grind. A somewhat decent concept that sabotages itself in execution. Neither ample constructive feedback nor inboxing the publisher led to reconsideration and…

Setting up a private server should be easy on a game like this, but it's an absolute ball ache. When your game requires a website with multiple pages of instructions to be able to create a server that you and your friends can play on, you've really messed up. "Edit this file, download this application and then alter your game command script blah blah blah" I don't want to have to become a certified network engineer to play multiplayer on a game which is clearly designed to be a multiplayer…

As a solo player... - This game is grindy AF. I ended up ramping up the XP/drop rates and stack sizes on the dedicated server I setup - There are bosses you need to wipe out, but cannot do this on your own - As a result you get locked out of progress and the game effectively ends I would recommend this game if you have a group of friends and want to grind through the game for a week or two: + It offers coop and pvp play. + The servers require little in terms of resources and costs to…

/Just like smoking, I can do it, spend money on it and have fun, but I don't have to recommend it/ The game starts out great, but after a few hours, you realize the game is balanced for multiplayer, so server tweks are a MUST. Even the game was abandoned a while ago, the game as-is is quite enjoyable. I easily get hooked into it. It is among the cheapest game in this genre while the game is such a joy to play. Totally worth it especially at the 90% discount which happens quite often. I already spent 38 hours in it and still have quite a lot to work on. I really want the dev. to continue update this game. This game can then be as great as any big indie games. EDIT: I really can't stop myself playing. Soon, I…

35 hours in-game so far. Here's my take: There are essentially three stages to this game: Stage 1: Starting Out: The game has a strong start, introduces a lot of mechanics and explains 90% of it very well. If you have played anything like it previously, you will intuitively know what to do for much of the first hour or so. You grab some resources, build a land-claim, construct a small base, and start storing and processing raw items into more complex structures and items. There are…

The official servers are empty, and extremely laggy. Nearly every death I've had on the official servers is because the server thinks my character is in a different place than my screen shows. I died to boar half a screen away too often. If you die, you respawn. You can die as many times as you want with no losses. You can play on your own local server, but what's the point? It's also an empty world. There's just nothing here except random creatures that do nothing until you get close, then…

CryoFall is a top-down, sci-fi survival game that merges sandbox crafting with multiplayer social dynamics in a persistent online world. Developed by AtomicTorch Studio, the game presents a distinctive blend of survival mechanics, base building, RPG elements, and economic systems, all set on a mysterious, post-apocalyptic alien planet. Only worth it on a 90% off sale if you have people to play it with. Extreme, manual grinding and complete disregard for solo content make up most of this game. There's barely anything for co-op content, as the threats I could find are easily outscaled and generally leave your bases alone, so don't expect there to be much activity without PvP. Good game but if you do not like grinding, then skip this. Lots of grinding. I like grinding so fine with me. Only issues i have are the boss fights and pragmium crystals or resources. Not really meant for single players. The bosses are too hard and you need team to beat them. Those pragmium crystals very difficult to get, so cannot really built the end game stuff. That suggests a lot of people give up before the game gets going. CryoFall is a genuinely fun little survival/base-building game. It's also lightweight.
