Finally get a map which we're told will help, but is a useless "Artifact" and doesn't help move around quickly. A few nonsensical things like having a permit to cross a bridge to leave town just pinned to the wall next to the jail cell. It's really little more than a long series of fetch quests. I quit at the lockpicking minigame. If I hadn't gotten this for free, I'd have quit even…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crowalt the Traces of the lost colony is just a very long, boring fetch quest galore until 99% of the game is done, and you finally get to know where the Lost Colony is and get hit by a lack luster plot twist. The thing is, the story is probably the strongest part of the game(along with a pretty decent soundtrack), so the fact that you barely get any story and any lore all throughout the game, in a point and click adventure game with story being it's strongest suit, is just salt upon wounds.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a nice point and click adventure. The story was interesting and fun and I wanted to know what happened to the Lost Colony. The pixel art was bright and well done with easy to read text. Puzzles were logical and not too hard. A few of the puzzles are timed. One puzzle is a memory type game and appears to be optional if you lose the first time. The others are lock pick/pattern matching that are on a timer, but I had time enough to finish them on my first try so I don’t think they are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would lean more towards this being a neutral review, because there are a mix of good and bad things about the game. This is a point and click game with 2d pixel like graphics that takes place largely in a few different locations. I thought the general concept was pretty interesting, and I appreciated the artstyle. The story was also interesting enough (though the writing is very corny) that I went and beat the game (with a guide). However, a big issue is that the game feels repetitive and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Person A sends me on a mundane errand leading to person B, who sends me on a mundane errand leading to person C, and so on, and none of these people really have any personality, as if their sole purpose is to send me on errands. It's quirky and unique and occasionally written with a dry sense of humor, but there are so many better games I could be playing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not my fave puzzle/point and click game. I think I wished there was an option to use keybinds to move rather than repeatitively pressing my right click to move.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game lured me in with a promise of a mystery! That's not a bad thing mind you... It's... It was better than expected!!! I was peeled away from my digital stack of books, being brought into that same mystery that supposedly happened in reality! The same mystery I was actually interested when younger... And this game was to give me the ANSWER?! YES. I'LL DO IT! I'LL PLAY IT! But can I actually get to the end...? DUH. When you have the proper motivation you can do anything. Almost.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BORING. REPETITIVE. WAY TOO EASY. The art style drew me in and I like the setting, but my god this is not a point and click adventure, just a click click click click click click click click click click click "game". The movement is so tedious, you can't scroll you have to KEEP clicking every time you want to move maximum 4 feet. Dialogue is mind numbingly awful and everything is so linear.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice try developer. Everyone knows Roanoke was "aliens". Other than that, it's a run of the mill point and click and click and drag game. The story and graphics might not be all that sexy, but figuring out how to do seemingly straightforward objectives can honestly be pretty fun. Secret #1 = Holding down spacebar is your friend. Secret #2 = Don't be afraid to move items inside containers to see what's hidden underneath! Secret #3 = Sometimes you gotta think outside the box to come up with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too many user-unfriendly design decisions to recommend. Dialogue that scrolls-in centered vertically and horizontally, stupid walk-out-of-screen-then-back when can't go somewhere, slow movement overall, etc. Whole thing feels like it's designed to slow the user down in order to artificially extend the playtime. Just couldn't force myself to continue playing when almost every other point-n-click game is better designed, interface/gameplay-wise
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wouldn't recommend. As a lover of point and click adventure/mystery/puzzle games it doesn't really scratch the itch. The gameplay is... fine, but pretty clunky to control. The dialogue is really dry and the story pretty boring. The cherry on top though is the blatant lack of research on Native American tribes. Final nail in the coffin was *spoiler* helping put a Native woman's spirit at rest by digging up her bones and burying them in the colonial (Christian) graveyard. OOF.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really basic point and click adventure game. But the writing is tepid, the puzzles are boring and the pacing is slow. If you got it free, go ahead and waste an hour or two getting the achievements. But don't expect to enjoy most of it. And if you didn't get it free, don't waste your time or your money.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An atmospheric adventure with nice pixel graphics and an interesting story about a lost colony. Fans of quiet quests will definitely enjoy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1. It's short but very plodding and repetitive. 2. The puzzles aren't really engaging and it's FAR too easy to soft-lock out of the game entirely if you do not do things in the EXACT order or you forget to pick something up. Conversely, you do not get to pick up everything right away -- which means more slow as butt walking between areas just to get stuff. 3. No real tension, no real mystery and it just ends. No epilogue of any sorts. 4. The mish-mash of various Indigenous cultures into a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game immerses you in an atmosphere of mysterious exploration and questing, where you travel to an abandoned colony to uncover the secrets of its missing settlers. The plot is quite engaging—you find old notes, objects, and clues that gradually piece together a picture of what happened to the colony.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Retro pixel charm meets classic adventure gameplay - Crowalt delivers a fun island mystery packed with puzzles, pirates, and exploration.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really boring and you need the guide help for every step you take (no kidding, every step).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one of the cases of "don't judge a game by the way it's graphics and art style looks", cause the gameplay and story is really decent, so don't only add it to your library cause it's free right now, try to play it a little bit. Help the dev justify this giveaway and maybe even review it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I concur with another reviewer’s verdict: the game is indeed boring. The stakes were never raised throughout the entire playthrough, and the only interesting part comes in the last 10 minutes. You’ll also spend a lot of time going back and forth between locations. A fast travel system could’ve alleviated much of the tedium.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is free to keep before March 9, 2026 so make sure to pick it up! It's a fun click-adventure game that tells a true story (fictionalized in the game) about the colony of Roanoke mysteriously disappearing on an island with only the word "Croatoan" (Crowalt in the game) carved into a post (tree in the game). In reality the colony was found to be in the city of Croatoan and adapted to their way of life. While the traveler John White at the time never rediscovered them. Super fun,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Crowalt: Traces of the Lost Colony" is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. This is a very badly made point and click adventure from the shovelware pushers at GrabTheGames, who just sort of skirt on the border of being outright asset flippers... regardless, the games they publish, just like asset flips, are barely viable products intended just to stuff random…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So bad. Guess the correct answer; otherwise, restart. A trial and error fest with minimal return. The animations are the best part; the world is built properly, and the story is interesting. The shading is very nice. The gameplay and 'puzzles' result in "guess!" A waste of time fully, probably a solid story otherwise, but it became nonsensical. "Do the right thing simulator, but also there are wrong options available." Point and Click -1

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Classic adventure gaming done right: satisfying puzzles, witty pirate encounters, and a branching narrative that rewards exploration and trust-building. The Lost Colony mystery unfolds beautifully through your journal and interactions with the island's inhabitants.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Relaxing, challenging game that has a touching story line. Point and click controls and auto save feature are helpful features.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crowalt was a simple little walking sim, and the lost colony theme was good. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it, but there wasn’t much that made it stand out either. It’s one of those games that’s just alright. Not bad, not great, but I had some fun with it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Call this a walking simulator. I'm pretty sure I spent more time clicking to skip everything or walk faster than actually playing the game... It would be way less of a hassle if you could somewhat teleport to one place to another because when one quests from the docks asks you do to go to the tribe then the market then go back to the docks: you just want to quit. I still tried to somehow follow the story because if the gameplay is bad then the story must be good, right? Well all of that for…

Game Difficulty: Since it has puzzle / escape room elements you need to figure out where and how to use the items you collect and to who you need to talk to continue the story. Achievements Difficulty: Same as game difficulty but there are 2 achievements on which if you make the wrong choice you will have to replay from the last save…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A snoozefest tbh. Though i did like the ending twist. Pros: Decent historical flavor with a fantasy spin on Roanoke. Plus, it’s free and over in 3 hours. Cons: Mind-numbing amount of backtracking. An endless loop of fetching things, giving things to someone, being sent to someone else to fetch more things, and so on & so forth. A tedious cycle that drains all the fun out of the premise. Thankfully, I was put out of my misery shortly.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It fails to live up to its clear inspiration. Legit pointless point-and-click style stop gates that make no sense or noticeable impact. Problems with what seems like a clear solution isn't even addressed as an option.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is worth playing if it is free, but not paying (I'm sorry). <positive> The story was pretty well. Some good (nice/clean) stories, some were full of love and hate. Also, the puzzles were good. Some was a bit tough, but there are guides on steam. Anyway, I've enjoyed the adventure. <negative> Why are the players only allowed to "click" to move the character? And why does he move so SLOWLY? Double click is necessary, making the player tired. It was frustrating especially at the last…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even though the game is pretty short, it has an interesting story and you won’t regret the time you spend playing it. I’m not sure if it’s worth buying at full price, but if you catch it on a good sale, it’s definitely worth picking up. The game is actually pretty decent. For achievement hunters, this one is basically free achievements — you can grab them all in about 2–3 hours, and there’s no real challenge involved.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard to rate, first of all I did get the game for free so I had nothing to lose from an investment standpoint other than time. The game has some things going for it, I genuinely enjoyed the retro art style and the presentation is quite charming. The story/mystery of the game itself I wouldn't call MAGNIFICENT but it's at least interesting enough that I wanted to keep seeing what would happen next. My main problem is that not a whole lot of the game is actually spent investigating/solving…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why did the developers choose point and click over wasd? This would be a wonderful game if it were not point and click. I keep finding myself trying to move my character with wasd or arrow keys, it just makes sense. Instead, you to have keep clicking the screen in the same spot over and over. Yes! I am complaining about something which is plainly obvious in the description. This is MY review and MY opinion, which is, this should have been wasd controlled instead of mouse clicking everything and…

Hugh is fascinated by the real historical mystery of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, a group of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this and I'm thankful for the key the devs gave me, but this game just isn't for me. The point and click I normally don't have a problem with but the game as a whole moves too slow for my attention span... or lack there of one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay. Spoilers Ahead: "Not a witch" *Proceeds to to witchcraft after doing witchcraft to speak with the dead to do more witchcraft to undo a curse.* Someone else did the witchcraft. Interesting game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having always been interested in the unexplained, I have known about this story (or at least the inspiration behind this story) for a long time. This adds an extra layer of interest for me. It's a typical point and click game with mechanics same as simular games. I am curious though...so far a lot of what the character has done and the tasks, really haven't had anything to do with looking for the lost colony, just seems to be doing stuff for the town folk, and I am curious when we actually…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →short point n click adventure, good story, wished they actualle let ya use the map for fast travel specially since they tell you "this will make your adventure easier" its just lore.
