Settings do nothing, frames are locked. Previous dx9 dll fixes online don't work anymore, for some reason. I highly doubt anything has been enhanced because it isn't even running as it should on a computer made 5 years ago. Don't buy this on Steam.

And elementary logic.” Ibid glared at him. ~Sir Terry Pratchett, Pyramids Sometimes I just can't help but wonder – what happened? I mean, seriously. What happened to the video game industry? AAA gaming aside (Zed's dead, baby, Zed's dead...), where all the talented people went? Take city building genre for example. Where's all of its former glory? Let me take you back to the past (to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game, Steam version doesn't work though. Good luck finding a CD version. It was not made for multicore processors. It needs an update, which requires the owner of the content actually take responcibility for making sure they support the game they are making money off of. It's really sad that steam allows game without support or updates to even be sold. It's not ethical.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game crashes. The GOG version has no issues whatsoever.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old school Gem Good old City Sim from my Childhood.. Still awesome to play and to relax to, there's no extraordinary challenge or anything nor time pressure, but that's what makes it so precious, if you got time and if you're into detailing everything to its extent like me.. and if you don't mind the old school graphics too much it's probably worth a look, has a lot of content for its more than fair price. It's definitely not a "challenge game" though. It's also pretty free of any kind of…

This #SEGAsaturday, we feature Immortal cities: Children Of The Nile, part of the Immortal Cities gaming series and published by #SEGA in 2004. Did you know it existed? #GamersUnite #RetroGaming
unlabelledView post →It's a good foundation, but it doesn't feel like the game was ever finished. Your whole city can crumble because pathing issues cause your workers to just stand there doing nothing. There's no way to pause construction or control what your builders prioritize. The game changes screen resolution between different menus. Most tooltips feel like placeholders and suggest things that might have been a problem if you had selected a completely different building. The interface is cluttered with a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game's demo back in 2009, when Steam suggested it on the demo list (which has long been removed from Steam, sadly). For some reason, after 8 years, I suddenly felt the urge of dying a young Pharaoh again. This is basically a game about civilization. You gotta build a city. To do so, you have to carefully plan which building you're gonna build, depending on what you want your citizens to be. Will you make more farmers, more breaklayers, or perharps more bakers? Plan carefully,…

Unfortunately nowadays this game crashes every time I try to load ANY developed map and often when sending troops. Boo! Great in its day; sadly I must now advise finding something else.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not recommended. Such a shame this no longer works right out of the box. It's a decent city builder and I enjoyed back when I originally got it. Sadly, upon coming back to play it again, it no longer runs properly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't describe in words how many hours I have lost to this game and how painful it is for me to play right now.. I played this game when it first came out and had way too many "Oh ♥♥♥♥, I have to work in the morning!" moments with it. Functionally, it's still viable, but technically it has fallen way behind the times. Whoever owns this IP now, needs to wake up. You're still selling this game and taking money from people, but you haven't modernized it in any way. If you read the discussions,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a buggy mess. I'm in shock, that Titled Mill would release such a buggy and cheap game. Your peeps, will: Cannot shop at shops right next to them Complain about no food, bakery right next door Complain about no healthcare, right next door Complain about no gods, right next door. Overseers will go look at a quarry all day, while laborers refuse to cross any body of water. Overseers are so broken, it's not even funny. 9 times of out 10, they won't even do what they are instructed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best colony sims I'v played in years with a great setting and theme. Easy to learn concepts and rules and nothing is too complicated or tedious. I was particularly fond of the trade and noblemen elements. Trade was generally important and beneficial to your city and the noblemen giving you more farmers and taxes really developed a sense of a feudal society when other games merely said they were feudal.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've owned this game for years off-steam. This is seriously one of my favorite games of all time. This is an absolutely wonderful experience. The graphics are a little dated, of course, but the art is still solid. The music is wonderful. The wandering dialogue of the little people as they wander around adds atmosphere and brings the world to life, which is often something that's missing from so many other titles that try and emulate this type of experience. The mechanics are solid, from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Childhood memories that don't disappoint today. Best city builder in my opinion.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty great city building game, good way to chill out and relax. Not much to it as you can just leave it running while you go to work or whatever and nothing bad will happen, come back and you have more or less infinite resources.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want a remake.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PLEASE SOMEONE REMAKE THIS GAME, DONT REMOVE ANY FEATURES. YOU CAN ADD THOUGH LOL
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →LOVE IT! Played since its release and often replay the game, love being a pharoah, and love egypt in general, not really had issues with it, runs at 4k fine and its probably one of the best egyptian city builders i know, highly recommend it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old but good game that I wish had an option for windowed play. There's no other game quite like it, and I'd love to see the concept updated. As is though, it's a fine city builder.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An oldie but a still enjoyable goodie. Beats the hell out of "Pharaoh: A New Era". Try this one first and last.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I truly wish they would make a sequel to this game. This game has aged well. Relaxing. A tad too easy but the economic system is really brilliant. Must have for all Egyptophiles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game so much. The content, the controls, the soundtrack. I want a game like this with modern graphics, ten times more vocal / conversational content, more resources, more palace upgrades, better animation of people building things... More details. Keep the original flavor and controls, but broaden the variety of people. Would be so wonderful. My favorite city building game of all time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Children of the Nile is a game that does something that very few other games have tried - namely, produce an actual economy that you oversee, but do not directly control. See, in most city-builder games the player is the high dictator of the economy, the sole being in the entire country with any free will. All citizens are no more than tiny factories that require input resources from the national stockpile in order to output other resources which, again, go to the national stockpile, a vast…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a gentle bit of Ancient Egyptian fun with quite literally a cast of thousands! Forget Moses, Aida and Cleopatra. This is the city building management game for those with a sense of humour and no anal retention. There are challenges, but there are simple methods of rectification for those with patience. Plus, if you buy it on sale from Tilted Mill, you get more games for less outlay. Surely there's enough to get you started right there! For all the comments from those who want an easy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game I would have loved for it to be remade with new technology.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A classic. So much to see and do, yet relaxing and still beautiful especailly if with Reshade post processor enhancements. And one of the best music soundracks ever made.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I couldnt get into this game much until I installed the 3x walk speed hack. It really seems a lot of the game's bugs have to do with sims picks non optimal destinations and end up stuck somewhere. Making them walk faster has solved all the problems for me. The game does become significantly easier with the patch but city builder games are never difficult to play to begin with...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Children of the Nile: Enhanced Edition is your standard city builder with plenty of scenarios to test the player's ability to adapt to given environments along with events that range from predictable to unpredictable. With how much information is available to players within the tutorial stages and information boxes for every clickable NPC, structure, and cartographic symbol on the world map, the game is readily learnable for those versed and those unversed in its genre. Technically speaking,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has the best city building conventions on the market. Puts Pharaoh and all its imitators to shame.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game played for about 4 hours and now it won't start up at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best city building games of all time, I have been playing this game since I was very young.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A citybuilding game set in ancient Egypt. I really love this game. It has a similar setup to the Caesar games where you have to meet the needs of your different types of citizens, with higher status citizens needing more complex goods. You also want to make sure your leader has a tomb to be buried in before they day. It's an interesting twist on a citybuilder and one I really enjoyed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A delightful treat; much alike a pleasant cruise down the Seine. I am utterly reveling in the untold beauty and depth of this gem. Do yourself a tremendous service and purchase Children of the Nile. This is a decision you will not regret, I guarantee it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Over all a good game. Pros + 50h game play over 15 scenarios - 100% completed. + The game has aged very well. + Sometime very challenging (until you learn how to propperly start every scenario). + Challenging decisions where to focus resuorses Either * No monetary system besides bricks, food and some special material. * After 3-4 scenarios, every city is built in the same fashion. * Besides that the annual flood can destroy a building or two, these cities are immortal. Cons - UI is outdated…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was looking for an updated Pharaoh. The game is just fine but doesn’t have nearly the detail that made Pharaoh such a great game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the one game I can whole heartedly recommmend to both players that enjoy city building and players that are new and still exploring what they like in the gaming world. Children of the Nile, whilst not really being meant as a sequal to Pharoah, I can't imagine a more fitting successor. It is, in depth, varied, easy to learn, not quite so easy to master and in my opinion, is very immersive. I love watching the buildings being constructed and the scurry of people flood onto the nile banks…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best civlisation builder games I have ever played. I've played it for years and I still go back for more. It's incredibly robust, detailed and constantly keeps you on your toes. What do your citizens need next?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recently reinstalled this game and after many trials it still won't save my game files. I've given up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great older game like sim city but better laid out and you have a quest line. 100% recommend to classic gamers
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely charming city-builder. Only as difficult as the scenario you choose, but deeper than it appears. I spent an entire weekend building a detailed and functional capitol city, and let me tell you, it's a joy to watch white limestone pyramids rise brick-by-brick above your temples, mansions, and apothecaries. Fabulous title for history nerds. Fabulous title for anyone seeking a nostalgic aughts experience. Fabulous title for anyone who wants to wile away the hours with a flexible…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have been waiting to play a game like this since ages. The game has a growing population in its gameplay and a much more interactive ones than games which show-off on the graphics part. One can simply get amazed at the kind of interactions, the citizens (of various societal levels) have with each other while this game is in action - simply unreal ! Maybe yeah - the graphics are a bit oldie - but hey, the gameplay experience does more than enough to cope for it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game about Ancient Egypt and its gameplay. In this game, the real pharaohs are the people and nobles who must be satisfied. I like also requests to fullfill to build city presitige.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a city building strategy game with an Egyptian theme. Build sprawling cities along the Nile, craft giant pyramids, and manage your people and your economy. It's a great concept but the game itself is a buggy mess. While it advertises 4K support, this just causes a hard system crash. The developers know the game is broken, they refuse to fix it, but they do leave it on the store, which is reprehensible behaviour. Impossible to recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was probably my first ever video game??? like no cap, I was 8 years old and playing this on my old box PC. Loved it then, love it now!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played this game for many years, and am still playing it in 2020. It is hands down one of the best city-building games ever created.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of like an updated Pharaoh, but apparently completely unstable. Seems to crash no matter what fixes I do, which seems to be a thing on Windows 10 with nVidia cards based on a bit of reading. The bit I could play though, it was okay, but didn't quite scratch the Pharaoh itch for me other than being an Egypt game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first bought this game from Wal-mart about a million years ago, just on a whim, cause it was cheap and I needed something new to play. I immediately fell in love with the game, and still love it to this day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unlike some builder games of this type, the npc's don't have to follow a road, so cities can be built in a functional way around resources.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The mechanics of this game are fairly solid outside of a clunky UI, but you'll realize something rather quickly - everything this game has to offer you can experience in the first few scenarios. That is, if you're willing to wait around to see them come to fruition. The economy of this game is built entirely around resources - food, bricks, limestone, weapons, etc. There is no money. It's all about planning around the ebb and flow of an agency-based distribution of materials. The early game is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My PROs.... hmmm... This game comes [highly recommended] for someone who wants to spend countless hours vicariously lost in the intriguing lifestyles and beliefs of the enduring, mysterious Ancient Egyptian people.. and in stunning graphics with an intuitive, giving camera/guidance system. I enjoy how authentic the gameplay is.. using ancient egyptian words, names, and places, as well as offering the ability to peer into the lives of peasants, the working elite, nobles, and royal family. It's a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really nice building system. Easy to learn but still challenging.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game promised to be like Pharaoh (c. 2000, from Impressions Games/Breakaway Games), but it is horribly optimised. Went and bought Pharaoh from GOG instead and have played that for around 100h. This, not so much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game, it never gets old!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cheap graphics, very old graphics, but still beautifully created. It's very fun, and can be very addicting to those who love ancient Egypt, building games, and city simulation games. It doesn't work on large screens, so make sure you don't have anything bigger than 1920x1024 or it might not work. What I like most about this game, is that you don't need money to do anything. The worst thing is that you need to make sure you have one hell of a stockpile of food to keep up with your…
