As the author of Chaos Walking, I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for huge budget Hollywood adaptations that misfire on almost every level. No one’s ever trying to make a bad film; everyone’s working REALLY hard; you gotta feel for them.
unlabelledView post →for this week's column, i watched Chaos Walking (ever heard of it?!), a movie set in a dystopian future where there are no women and men's unfiltered thoughts are constantly broadcast to everyone around them—you know, like a podcast.
unlabelledView post →i'm sure Chaos Walking is a bad movie but it does have Daisy Ridley with blonde hair so it might also be a masterpiece of cinema
unlabelledView post →This year, we're getting: • a new Hunger Games movie • a new book in the Chaos Walking universe • new books by both Marissa Meyer and Amie Kaufman (The Escape Game/Red Star Rebels) •a new book in The Naturals series Finally, the YA land is healing ✨😌 #yabooks #booksky

The way that the movie depicts the inner struggle under patriarchy is fascinating. Also — Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley.

Well, don’t worry because we watched Chaos Walking so you don’t have to! Find out what you missed about a movie that aggressively doesn’t exist by checking out this week’s pod!

unlabelledView post →When you start reading an article about why Daisy Ridley should be headlining bigger projects, and you get a major research error like saying The Marsh King's Daughter is her first studio film since Star Wars. No, that's Chaos Walking. But I'd understand why you'd want to forget.
unlabelledView post →It's a western, on an alien world that looks too much like ours, that we colonized and demonized the local population, killed all the women in one settlement due to some weird shaman, and wherein we don't treat the few animals that came with us from Earth like the rare and important beings they would be. I draw the line at the death of animals. I won't watch it, and I won't watch the rest of the #film once I see it. But there are lots of reasons to dislike this #movie. Most of them are…

unlabelledView post →What happens when MCU Spider-Man teams up with Rey Palpatine to make a sci-fi movie where (some of) men's thoughts are out loud? Chaos Walking. A bit slow in parts but it was ok.
unlabelledView post →Almost every film she starred in after TROS was poorly marketed, given little to no public exposure, and were dumped to streaming less than a month after its theatrical release; regardless if those films range from mid to crap like Chaos Walking and The Marsh King’s Daughter,…
unlabelledView post →That Chaos Walking film was utter dogshit, wasn't it? How to ruin a fabulous trilogy in 90 minutes of ignoring important plot points, skimming others and giving absolutely no idea of the relationship between Todd and The Major. 1/10.
unlabelledView post →That was a lacklustre movie. I wish Daisy Ridley would get some better sci-fi movie roles, I thought she was excellent as Rey. We Bury the Dead was decent, better than Chaos Walking anyway.

unlabelledView post →I started checking “Does the Dog Die” after I watched stupid “Chaos Walking” and Tom Holland drowns a dog on camera. I was like, “Why would this dumb movie make me watch that as part of what I pay to experience this story?” I will watch stuff where animals die, I just want it to be tasteful!
unlabelledView post →"Chaos Walking" on #Netflix is a really weird film. I liked it! The premise is that on an alien planet everybody's thoughts are visible and audible to others. Exactly the kind of thing an author can invent but how would you pull it off in a movie? It worked well! Solid VFX and nice matte paintings by a bunch of well-known studios (Rodeo, Crafty Apes, Spin) even though the movie feels like a "small movie" that was shot in a forest of a province that had the best tax credits. #ChaosWalking
unlabelledView post →I haven’t watched the Chaos Walking movie because I heard it wasn’t a good adaptation of the books, and I FREAKIN’ LOVED the books. Now I feel like I should watch it and enjoy it for what it is and the energy that was put into it.
unlabelledView post →Malorie Blackman's Noughts and Crosses series - similar mix of recognisable social concerns and dystopian elements to Hunger Games. The Divergent series was big when HG was first popular, although note that the film series tails off fast! Seconding Patrick Ness' Chaos Walking books too!
unlabelledView post →Chaos Walking? I could experience again the worst film I've ever seen in a Dolby theater.
unlabelledView post →The entire Chaos Walking series. Sure the first book got a movie, but it did it no justice and none of my bookish friends had read any @patricknessbooks.bsky.social before then, despite my vehement insistence that they should. All of his stuff is great tbh but this series esp. has stayed with me.

She is, of course, well known 4 a little character named Elphaba in ‘Wicked’ (which I use as a txt in my Eng 11 class), so it was a real treat 2 b able 2 c her live!

unlabelledView post →I have just read the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. I picked up the books after seeing the film (which I hadn't heard of before but watched and LOVED) but having read the books, the film didn't do the trilogy justice! If you are looking for a new read I can't recommend it highly enough!

unlabelledView post →There's a film on called Chaos Walking and Tom Holland plays a character as annoying as Spider Man. I don't mean that in a bad way but that his character always tries to help but makes things worse.

That’d be awesome to see Trump fire all his admin & sit in the Oval Office all alone. No one likes this prick, not even his admin that’s making tons of money off him.

Die Idee mit den visuell flirrenden Gedanken ist das einzig Positive, das ich über den Film sagen kann - hier ist der Film sogar besser als die Bücher.
unlabelledView post →🎬 Chaos Walking (2021) After all the production issues that occurred during the filming of the movie I thought I would go ahead and support it as it is a miracle that it even exists. The potential for a good film is there in the themes and tones, however it feels as though everyone just mailed it

Tom Holland might have been able to help save the MCU post Endgame, but..........he cannot save everything. #FilmSky #BookSky📚💙

unlabelledView post →Another random comment of the day. I am probably one of the few people who enjoyed Chaos Walking. I watched it because I like the actors but I found the movie quite fun. I can still enjoy a movie even though it isn't great.
unlabelledView post →Yeah, I tried to watch one of them because she's a great actor but it was very much "this is a show for ten year olds" and although she was fun as a superspy teen it wasn't for me He's a very good actor, great at physical stuff & not bad at up close. He was good in Chaos Walking but it's a meh film

Directed by Doug Liman. 2 companions embark on an adventure through the badlands of an unexplored planet as they try to escape a reality where all thoughts are heard by everyone
unlabelledView post →I must say, this concept is inspired by the premise of the film adaption of Chaos Walking (that also has an all-male world without women), but I don't wanna add misogynistic stuff in this game that could potentially insult its female audiences.
unlabelledView post →Fairly close to being a good film, for me at least. I could see something positive coming from 'Chaos Walking' at differing moments, though unfortunately all in all it does end up being a pretty underwhelming 109 or so minutes. It holds an interesting concept and I was very much willing it to come to fruition in an entertaining manner but it never does. The 'inner' monologue thing does get a tad annoying, it isn't amazingly implemented via special efforts nor audio - less would've been more,…

Judging by the level of intelligence the characters exhibit, this ought be a deafeningly silent planet. People who colonize a new world and literally call it "New World" can't have much in their minds (perhaps they should have called it Planet Faulkner, since everyone here seems to think in an uncontrollable stream of…

With that out of the way, I found this to be... fine. A little messy in narrative and structure but I suppose moderately entertained. I also liked Tom Holland in the lead for the most part and Daisy Ridley grew on me though her character isn't very well developed. It's probably worthy of a rental but doubtful I'll…
