unlabelledView post →New Projector Short! Harris Dickinson is a fast rising star, after roles in The King's Man and Babygirl, and he makes his directorial debut with the homelessness drama Urchin, which won big at Cannes this year - unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of it. 📽️ www.youtube.com/shorts/zCJlk...
unlabelledView post →I need to figure out a way to phrase it, but there's a trope that's really obvious in The King's Man where, like, the marketing people get the movie better than the writers of the movie, so it was marketed with Rasputin as the main villain, because he's the best part of the movie, but he was minor
unlabelledView post →b) it's bizarre that so much pop culture - Anastasia, Hellboy, that Hammer film, The King's Man - portrays Rasputin as a supervillain.
unlabelledView post →THE KING'S MAN introducing Adolf Hitler like a Marvel credits movie tag.
unlabelledView post →Scrapper (2023) is a fun film. It's a British kitchen sink #drama, but with added colour, comedy and a lot of heart. 12-year old Lola Campbell is brilliant alongside Harris Dickinson (The King's Man; Triangle of Sadness), a young dad trying to get to know his daughter. #Filmsky #Moviesky 📽️

unlabelledView post →Tonight's movie was... (Now bear in mind I had been warned so came with preconceptions.) The King's Man (2021, dir. Matthew Vaughn). The first two films in this series are a real hoot. Nothing prepared me for this utterly $hite third instalment. I hope it paid well. I bailed at 34 mins. #FilmSky 🎬🎥🎞

unlabelledView post →Dad has the remote, so all bets are off. I have managed to veto The King's Man, and am currently protesting that just because Die Hard *might* be a Christmas film, it doesn't mean Die Hard With A Vengeance is.
unlabelledView post →The King's Man is such a weird ass film, the wheels fell off the Kingsmen series in basically no time at all because I don't think anybody involved actually understood why people liked the first film (the fight choreography and Taron Egerton's performance, mostly).
unlabelledView post →Same! Though I admit I haven't seen the latest film, The King's Man (?), yet..
unlabelledView post →He's also up there with James Gunn in terms of pure COMIC BOOK-INESS of his visuals (though he lacks Gunn's defter hand with story and emotion, though both are similarly interested marrying vulgar humor to action and drama), and THE KING'S MAN is somehow even MORE COMIC BOOKY than his X-MEN film.
unlabelledView post →Watching THE KING'S MAN (2021) on 4K. I was weirdly unaware that this was a Disney joint (via Buena Vista). I feel like I'm likely in the minority of people that enjoy this film/franchise...or even the films of Matthew Vaughn as a whole, as his stuff tends to be hobbled by problematic storytelling.

The plotline of 'Wanted' (2008) and 'The King's Man' (2021) coupled with the narrative logic of 'Casino Royale' (1967) & costume stylings of 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' (1968) And the worst ear worm of a closing pop song I can recall!
unlabelledView post →The King's Man (2021) might be the dumbest film I have ever seen. Actively, painfully stupid. Feels like a parody of a dumb guy film, but it absolutely isn't.
unlabelledView post →The plan thereafter was to do a third proper Kingsman movie after 'The King's Man' (I think it was to be titled The Blue Blood), but I think 'The King's Man' underwhelming at the box office put the lid on that. Though it didn't stop director Matthew Vaughn from getting 'Argylle' off the ground.
unlabelledView post →47) The King's Man Well made and every scene with Rasputin is unironically peak cinema. Outside of that, this is NOT a fucking Kingsman movie, it's a generic war film with none of what made 1 & 2 so great in its writing or direction. I was insulted watching this. Mid-credits bit was hysterical tho.
unlabelledView post →I liked it - but I really accepted beforehand what it would be. It's as if Guy Ritchie heard "Ah, the King's Man movie was a wild one, huh? Certainly nobody's gonna make anything more crazy?" and said "Would you just hold my beer real quick?" 👀🤣

unlabelledView post →"The King's Man" is just such a good movie. Deep British by way of Hollywood. Beautiful sets, great actors (Rasputin - holy Cow! Rhys Ifans - the Lizard! under all that? And sublime and a bravura performance), and special effects that are subtle. It's a good yarn too. Ralph Fiennes carries it all.
unlabelledView post →I pride myself on having an immunity to the cringiness of Matthew Vaughn movies, I even unironically enjoy some of them, but my fucking god The King's Man is the stupidest fucking film I've ever watched
unlabelledView post →The King's Man (2021) - Certainly not a bad movie but does feel to be lacking a bit of the charm of the original Kingsman. Still, there were some laughs and thrills but it was a bit mediocre. #TheKingsMan #Movie
unlabelledView post →The critical dumping on Argylle makes me feel like not many people saw The King's Man. Good for them, but my reaction to Argylle was basically "well it's not the worst movie I've ever seen, so it's better than Matthew Vaughn's last!"

unlabelledView post →The King's Man is a garbage movie but it's hilarious that the film is very unsubtly just Matthew Vaughn throwing a fit about the SNP. It's a dumb Tory action flick where Lenin and Hitler were buddies and an evil Scotsman caused WWI because he hated the English.

It is quite radical too: showing British concentration camps in the Boer war, speaking out against empire and aristocracy, denouncing the futility of war

Mainly just because we got a prequel instead of another mainline one. That said, it's highly enjoyable. I hope we get another one on the prequel side.
