60 of 107 · most liked firstCavity Busters is a great twin-stick shooter roguelite with heavy inspiration from The Binding of Isaac, whilst doing in my opinion a number of things better - overall design, compactness, and fun. If you're looking for a solid game in that niche with a different twist on the gameplay, this is a great pick.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: If you've stumbled across Cavity Busters (CB) and are even slightly interested in it and/or the roguelike/lite genre, I would highly suggest picking it up. Even on day 1 of EA release, CB offers an incredibly tight, challenging, unique, fun, and rewarding gameplay experience. What's more, the dev is incredibly receptive to feedback and is very active on Discord to address any issues. Although on the surface CB might seem like a run-of-the-mill game for its genre, it greatly diversifies…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZlakhUape4 An action packed bullet hell roguelite with some quite fun mechanics. As the name implies, you're a tooth fighting against all the cavities. You can hop, jump to high heights where you land and bounce off of enemies, and wall dash which slows time and gives you a new way to shoot. Plenty of power ups and cool bosses to collect and fight in order to get stronger, as well as a normal and hard mode to keep the game fresh. There is also a collectibles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is SO MUCH to unpack in this game. Its as if a very talented game dev played 1000 hours of Binding of Isaac, took a near-lethal dose of peyote while at the dentists office for a root canal, then put all of those experiences into a single, polished and unapologetically creative love letter to the roguelike genre. It says I only played for under an hour but I spent 6 straight hours playing last night so don't believe the lies. If there is any justice in this universe, Cavity Busters will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're saying to yourself "$12 seems like a lot for an early access indie game" you couldn't be more incorrect. if you're a fan of Isaac, Gungeon, or pretty much just well designed bullet hell rogue-likes in general, I implore you to give this game a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My games are super cheap right now thread! Cavity Busters - $2.99 (all time low!) A tooth punk #roguelite about fighting viruses in an infected body. This game is my favorite! store.steampowered.com/app/1084220/... #indiedev | #SteamAutumnSale
unlabelledView post →You'll be hard pressed to find an action roguelite that is as mechanically dense on a base level as Cavity Busters. From rolling, dashing along walls, jumping in the air to bounce on enemies and reposition yourself, deflecting bullets, three distinct methods of fire, and numerous other details, it really does distinguish itself as a unique title in the roguelite space. The toolset in Cavity Busters does a fantastic job of giving the player lots of fun mobility options that not only are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve been eyeing this indie game for a couple of years now since I discovered it through the steam labs game finder and I waited for the full release before pulling the trigger to purchase it. And let me tell you, the wait was worth it! Upon playing the first level, you can clearly tell that this game was a labor of love from someone who understands what makes “The Binding of Isaac” like gameplay fun. But this isn’t just a Binding of Isaac clone or an Enter the Gungeon clone, this game improves…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A grosser Binding of Isaac with a unique art style and modernized mechanics. The game is much more "bullet hell" than Isaac, but not overly so, slightly less bullet hell than Gungeon. It takes a very Isaac-like approach to the map-gen, game-flow, power curve, and soundtrack, but distinguishes itself with a dodgeroll, a different gimmick to aiming (must retrieve or recall your tooth before it can be thrown again), an extremely maximalist approach to secret rooms, and the interesting risk/reward…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cavity Busters Gameplay Cavity Busters is a bullet hell roguelike where you play as a tooth and your mission is to well, bust the cavities. When I first launched the game, it gave off a lot of Binding of Issac vibes and there is indeed some inspiration taken from it but judging it solely off that might be one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Let’s talk the mechanics first, like Binding of Issac, you are dropped into a room and you go from room to room clearing enemies, earning…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dude..... Where did this beautiful little Binding of Isaac inspired gem come from?! This game is criminally underrated and needs so much more exposure... To the devs: You have made something incredible. Something most Roguelike devs cant ever get right when they try to make something similar to Binding of Isaac. I wish you all the best and hope like hell this game can blow up!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is getting nowhere near the amount of attention it deserves. Hard to learn but very fun to master and adds a lot of unique elements I've not seen in a roguelike before. Every update has new high quality content and this game is a joy to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game scratches my binding of isaac itch better than binding of isaac itself. the gameplay is so smooth and tight, it's a total blast even when I'm losing. also super impressed with how quick the bugs get fixed, I brought up an issue I was having and a patch was pushed within a matter of hours. this game genuinely deserves so much more love and attention with how much passion was put into it and how active the creator is in the community.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will leave this review because I think this game is very underrated and deserves a lot more attention. If you think it seems like Isaac, you are partly right, but it also does it's own things; notably the movement tech which on paper is simple but takes a while to master. Also it's in the human body instead of a house. Multiple difficulty levels, lots of unlocks, secrets, characters, it's all there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyone who's a fan of the 'Red Key Challenge' in Isaac will be a fan of this game. Some of the most unique mechanics I've ever seen in a roguelite. So much content, I can't stop playing! It takes a bit of time to get used to how this game functions, but once you do, you'll be hooked! I'll have to keep an eye out for this dev. Seems like a genius to me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is quickly becoming one of my favorite new roguelites! With a ton of interesting movement (wall run, superjump) and exploration (think semi-permanent Red Key from Isaac) mechanics, Cavity Busters offers up a lot of fun ideas attached to a chaotic and messy (both in a good way!) twin-stick roguelite chassis. Furthermore, if your attention span and dopamine receptors have been burnt out, like mine have, on the likes of Nuclear Throne and Risk of Rain 2, rejoice -- this game is FAST,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like anyone that would dig this game, I'm a roguelite junkie that's dropped hundreds of hours into the greats (isaac/hades/nuclear throne/etc). Cavity Busters deserves a seat at this table as it gets so many things right. The music, the art, the mechanics, so many little tiny details that add up to a thing of real beauty here. The game is silly but grim, gross but pretty, drab but colorful, it walks these lines really well and creates something unique in a seriously crowded genre. The…

Cavity Busters: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ We all know what a trip to the dentist means . . . a lot of pain and discomfort! They say it’s best if you visit your dentist every six months to have your teeth cleaned. But for some of us, acid from bacteria causes the enamel of one or more of your teeth (God forbid) to weakens, and a cavity appears; smashing! And…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is insane, in a good way. The theme is thorough and gross, there's a lot of skill in play (too much, much of the time, which I consider a positive), and enemies and items are numerous and weird. There are a bunch of unusual combat options, which are going to take a while to master. A unique game at a more than fair price, for sure.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dear reader, allow me to describe the run I just finished. I got an upgrade for the shotgun that let me shoot rockets instead of bullets. The explosion could hurt me too, but I figured I would just keep my distance if I used the shotgun. Then I got more bullets per shotgun shot, and increased this number to the point that if I shot a single shot with the shotgun, the explosion was so large and so loud that the game's audio glitched itself out of existence. I looped my run. I then picked up an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game, extremely reminiscent of Isaac! If only I cleaned my own teeth with such passion...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really doubles down on clever, mechanical game play. Also, nightmares. So many nightmares. Your basic attack is a two-step fire out your one bullet, then yank it back. You can slide on the walls, jump out of the 2d plane and bounce on enemies, reflect specially colored bullets using your dodge, and more, plus lots of upgrades and variations on that. Great, responsive dev work during early access, and the result is a genuinely impressive and exciting addition to a crowded field.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game changed my whole worldview, brushed my teeth for the first time ever after playing, highly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short explanations : Great roguelite, with a good variety of items and good ideas. If you liked Isaac, you will probably like it. Accessible for everyone on normal difficulty without being a SHMUP wizard. The hard mode isn't a joke. More datailed explanations : Cavity Busters is roguelite which came as a really nice surprise. The game has a good number of floors. It isn't too long. You find it tooshort ? Just dig doors to add new rooms to any floor. Then come various ennemies and upgrades.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although the comparisons seem fair on first glance, this is not just another Binding of Isaac inspired clone. Cavity Busters control mechanics, in theory, should be a mess. I am very happy to say that is the case. This fresh take on the roguelite genre combines risk and reward with almost every item you come into contact with. It creates a pretty stellar balance that I haven't seen in quite some time. The bullet hell is hectic, but fun to manage around. The combat gameplay definitely took…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Comparisons are always a dangerous thing; but this one is a special case because of the genre. You cannot talk about modern roguelikes without mentioning the binding of isaac (The older one) and how that made an everlasting impression on the rest of the games that followed. After some years of becoming something akin to what it now represents said game, Cavity Busters came along to bring forward even more improvements to the genre. Now you don't have such an over-reliance on tank/twin-stick…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably the best Isaac-like out there. It's really criminal that more people aren't playing it. Isaac had me hooked for an easy 1000 hours, and this game scratches that same itch. The progression feels very similar which is exactly what I hoped for. Tons of items, characters, and modes to unlock. Though it borrows many ideas, there are quite a few new ones, some of them really surprising, that set this game apart. People might get turned off by the whole jumping into the sky and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Binding of Isaac is my favourite game of all time so this should have been right up my alley. Except I found the pacing to be terribly off, dropping a new player to so many mechanics with so much going on in early levels. The combat was also pretty clunky with one weapon requiring picking up the ammo you shoot and the other auto aims. Really bizarre choices. I think the game later develops in a lot of cool ways from the screenshots but I just dislike the early game so much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cavity Busters is fun, fast-paced, and offers a bit of fresh air to die-hard fans of Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon and Nuclear Throne. There are new mechanics and abilities to master (jump, rush on walls) but they are not hard to learn and add a lot to fight diversity. The dev's effort in creating a challenging, original game has really to be appreciated. The difficulty is perfectly balanced with the learning curve and you have the rewarding feeling of getting better on every run.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fantastic bullet hell action-roguelite with a ton to offer! As someone who typically gets very overwhelmed by bullet hells, I found this game to be extremely engaging and never felt that any of my deaths were unfair. The game does provide ample means to adjust difficulty up or down if needed, and while I haven't felt any desire to turn the difficulty down myself I feel it makes this a pretty great game for newcomers or people looking for a less 'intense' experience. The developers are also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hidden item descriptions will randomly end your run when you eventually pick up one of the multiple items that set your health to 1. Also even with it revealed, there are still many nonsensical item descriptions that tell you nothing about what they do.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cavity Busters is like if Gungeon and Isaac had a baby, and that infant's beloved mentor growing up was Leatherface. It has strategy, hidden mechanics aplenty, viscera flying, satisfying and varied combat/gameplay loop, and perhaps most importantly: a ridiculous amount of customization, accessibility options, and rewards numerous playstyles. Because it basically has everything else, there is also lore to learn if you care (full disclosure, I may be partially responsible for an entry or two and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game so far , a bit different and more fun then some of the run of the mill rogues out there .
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a new player and the game is great. The game deserves a lot more attention than what it is getting now! The development must have taken a lot of time. The game is difficult but that's what makes it fun. Maybe you can ask famous youtubers if they want to play your game?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games like Cavity Busters are a prime example of why I love indie games. It's still in EA but I really hope it gets the attention it deserves when it releases. If you enjoy twinstick roguelites with bullethell elements, check it out. One of the coolest (and weirdest) twinstick shooters I've played. Absolutely loaded with innovative mechanics and features a great range of bizarre monsters and environments. Challenging, invigorating, addictive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an amazing game and is very well made. Please buy it and review it, it deserves more. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't have anything to say other than I sincerely hope this game has a very prosperous life ahead of it, because my God it deserves one. It's criminal, how little this game is known about.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While it's pretty obvious this game is in early access, the game itself has a lot of interesting things to it, while making sure to keep its focus on being a rogue-like, and keeping itself unique in the crowd. It's hard to call this game a 'mix' of other games, but it follows the same formula as Isaac. Dungeons, square rooms, items to power up, and a boss fight to continue on each floor. The items themselves generally have negligible downsides, but sometimes if you don't like an item, you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cavity Busters is a rogue like in the vein of Isaac or Gungeon. While it's still in early access, it has a decent amount of content. The amount of enemy and boss and mini boss you'll encounter is good enough for now. Not that while there is multiple bosses on floor 1 and 2 (out of 6), it isn't the case afterwards. An after taste of what might be coming down the road in term of enemy variety. The amount of items (be it relics or diseases) is in a good spot with more being added with the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I usually don't really play these kinds of games, and I don't really play the games I've worked on (did audio), but when I was testing it out I got HOOKED! It's a very well made and hilarious piece of work, and during EA it's only getting better. It's definitely a game that requires practice and experimentation to stand a chance. It's a really fun challenge and DAMN it's satisfying when you get further. If you're looking at it thinking "ugh BoI clone..." you really need to just have a look at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an amazing game i can't believe it has this much content even it has just launched! do yourself a favour and buy this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tooth caves fight back hard Micro heroes drill through pain Decay meets its match
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WOW, Taking a 2-d game and making it so dynamic and versitile in the gameplay mechannics is epic. The endless ways to play and chain moves. wall run, to jumping on heads, to charge shot, deflection boomering vacume shots. Just scratched the surface and can see myself enjoying this more then binding of issac. Way better boss's and enemies and gameplay. Art style is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Music's amazing too, kinda donky kong jungle beats. This is hella UNDER RATED.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun and satisfying bullet hell. Most of the characters FEEL like different characters. It doesnt fall into the problem of them just being some modifiers slapped onto the normal character. The gunplay is fun and it's overall just fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and bizarre bullet hell with a lot of content for the price. Runs well on the Deck. Should be way more recognized, took me several attempts to bear the first time. Highly recommended :thumb::Blessing:
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →23) Cavity Busters (PC, Steam) store.steampowered.com/app/1084220/... Binding of Isaac's toothy relative, Cavity Buster takes the core of that gameplay and amps it up with a ton of unique mechanics. The toothpunk blood 'n guts stuff might be offputting to some, but the game has a lot of bite to it.
unlabelledView post →It's the binding of gungeon ! but where Isaac is gynecologist themed it's more dentistry flavoured.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I put countless hours into the roguelite/roguelike genres and this game stands out to me as one of the best of the best. There are mechanics that just feel so amazing to pull off, such as being able to parry yellow bullets by dashing into them, the ability to attack to a wall to avoid pits and bullets, and being able to jump when things get too chaotic and while you are in the air, you can either shoot down or decide to jump on the head of an enemy. All of those are unique to this game and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little game Pros : mechanics are fun love the sound effects nice artstyle Bosses disease system Cons : Sometimes its not easy to see the foes projectiles, gets harder to see its own character At one point it gets really difficult, especially with boring characters (some of them are) Builds are limited, not really different from run to run
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dunno why this hasn't had more recognition. Awesome "Isaac-like" but with its own spin on things. There's a bunch of content & dev is still updating it. I'm yet to get a win but just had a 41min run, so I think I'm close.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unique mechanics, partially brotato/vampire survivors. Truly a mostly a better version of Binding Of Issac, sans the inane story elements. Unique movement options, good default weapons, interesting all around.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very unique roguelike and high amounts of polish. Suprised the price is so low and yet that this game mostly flies under the radar of many people.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It scratches that Binding of Isaac itch. At the start it might seem quite hard, but to that i answer this: crown tooths are not only currency but also a bonus max health, so try not to use them too much if you're having trouble surviving.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game! On the surface level it may just seem like a basic Isaac/Gungeon clone, but the game is full of so much nuance. The diseases provide a very interesting system of risk vs reward, the movement techs are fun to use, the characters are all super distinct, and the game makes use of a lot of smaller mechanics without it feeling too cluttered. There are a few nitpicks however. The movement techs can feel a tiny bit tacked on sometimes, and a lot of concepts in the game are not very…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can tell the developer put a lot of love into this. If you like Binding of Isaac or similar roguelikes, I.E. Enter the Gungeon, this game is spot on for you. Feels more inspired by Gungeon than Isaac, but is it's own thing. I love how in most games the beginner character gets a pistol or an assault rifle or something but in this game your starter character effectively gets a boomerang. One of the biggest selling points for me is the mobility. Dodge rolling, climbing on walls, jumping…
