unlabelledView post →Carlito's Way (1993) is a highly underrated film, among both De Palma's and Pacino's best work, and deserves every accolade that Scarface accidentally gets
unlabelledView post →Annoyingly I can only find it as a Reel but I vividly remember, in the theater, watching the first CARLITO'S WAY teaser that opened with a bunch of audio clips of Pacino's most quotable lines from other movies www.instagram.com/reels/DFWr3J...

unlabelledView post →There IS a film based on the novel Carlito's Way: the 2005 straight-to-DVD prequel Carlito's Way: Rise To Power. If you run a bar trivia night an absolutely brutal question would be "What movie is based on the 1975 novel Carlito's Way?"

unlabelledView post →Carlito's Way (1993). The movie's based on the #stories of Judge Edwin Torres. I find the movie sad In the #movie, a well connected, respected organized #crime figure fresh out of #prison is forced to confront his past, his reputation, and woman he hurt. But his past won't let him go straight.

THE THING and ASSAULT ON P13. De Palma? CARLITO'S WAY and BODY DOUBLE. Nolan? THE PRESTIGE and MEMENTO. Movies!

unlabelledView post →Toy Story vs Scarface is a question I never though I would ask myself As much as I love Tom Hanks/Forrest Gump, Paccino's work in the crime genre is essential to the movie canon (Godfather, Scarface, Carlito's Way, Heat, Jack and Jill)

unlabelledView post →When Lynch died I realized a lot of the problem with our current crop of movie brat filmmakers is instead of having a connection with/riffing on the emotion and sincerity of Classic Hollywood, they're riffing on the riff. Anyway, currently watching Carlito's Way and feeling more convinced
unlabelledView post →I just watched the new Scorsese doc from Apple TV, and DePalma is part of it. Seeing him made me Google his film list to refresh my memory. Carrie. The Untouchables. Dressed to Kill.Scarface. Carlito's Way. The underrated Casualties of War. Mission Impossible. Also, this. A pretty good run,I'd say
unlabelledView post →he never can really stick with an accent and his accents aren't so good, but his acting in Carlito's Way is damned good and that movie is really underrated. John Leguizamo is so good.

unlabelledView post →Carlito's Way (1993) isn't my genre of movie, this world weary version of Goodfellas. But man De Palma could make great looking movies, so many wonderful sequences, crowds that feel organic, a whole living city. And that subway to train sequence is an all timer. A good Sean Penn supporting

I mean, yeah, he has some duds, but he also has JURASSIC PARK, CARLITO'S WAY, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, SPIDER-MAN, PANIC ROOM, WAR OF THE WORLDS, STIR OF ECHOES, KIMI, PRESENCE, BLACK BAG, and the upcoming Spielberg science fiction movie.
unlabelledView post →I hated Scarface when I saw it first but love it now. Its excesses are generally appropriate, I think. Very much a film of its time. Carlito's Way I saw on release and thought a temperate de Palma isn't a de Palma worth the bother, so have never re-watched.
