Captive State
Directed by Rupert Wyatt
Nearly a decade after occupation by an extraterrestrial force, the lives of a Chicago neighborhood on both sides of the conflict are explored. In a working-class Chicago neighborhood occupied by an alien force for nine years, increased surveillance and the restriction of civil rights have given rise to an authoritarian system -- and dissent among the populace. 28 of 28 · most liked firstI was initially drawn to the movie Captive State by the title, which reminded me of the kind of movies the characters would go to see in Seinfeld. Prognosis Negative! Rochelle Rochelle. Sack Lunch. Chunnel. It lacked a young woman's erotic journey from Milan to Minsk.

unlabelledView post →The American citizens understand that. The Ukrainians understood that and showed everybody how a brave country stands up and fight back fascist. The American people would do the same if invaded. Not our government tho. Watch the movie Captive State. That would be the US if we were invaded.

unlabelledView post →Watching Captive State 10 years after an alien invasion where they have bolstered the ruling class and made Earth more authoritarian, a resistance cell in Chicago strikes back. Rupert Wyatt's film is ground level and grubby on how to run terrorist cells, and the back end is genuinely tense but...
unlabelledView post →Tonight’s film, Captive State, is cleverer and much better thought out together than a lot of the (not great) reviews. Ok it’s a bit clumsy with getting one character out of the way, but as an insight into the need-to-know cell structure of a resistance movement, it really works well.

unlabelledView post →Just watched Captive State with John Goodman. It has a 40ish % on Rotten Tomatoes but dang is it a good movie. It has some original ideas and the way it's presented is super unique. The end is predictable but the run up is very exciting. If you're into sci-fi this is a great sleeper.
unlabelledView post →Captive State: Good movie. I always wanted to see this movie, so finally had the chance to sit down and watch it. Really great. Still very relevant and the ending hits. I didn’t cry, but I felt like I should have.
unlabelledView post →Woke up and had a glimpse of a memory of a movie. Why would Captive State randomly jump into my brain at this point in time?
unlabelledView post →The movie 'Captive State'. In a flashback people were trying to leave Chicago when aliens showed up. Understandable. It's a big, important city. I don't like it in apocalypse movies where people flee tiny tiny towns. Where are you going and why?
unlabelledView post →The PG-13 sci-fi movie Captive State from 2019. Scary stuff. Says 'Sci-fi' but I'd have called it R-Rated horror. Anyway, good movie. The film demands your attention and rewards you for it. There were a few times I thought to myself 'This is not right' and it was supposed to *BE* not right.
unlabelledView post →Having gone a full 10 titles of joy and kindness and silliness and, erm, hitmen, it was time to get back to dystopian sci-fi 😂 Captive State (2019) was a decent action/horror/alien film, starring John Goodman no less - I feel like you don't see him in much these days. Not great but not bad.

unlabelledView post →Just Finished Watching: Captive State This is not a movie and from England is instead set in Chicago. Aliens invaded and are stealing our resources, so a group of people not from England form a resistance. I didn't really care for it... www.imdb.com/title/tt5968...

unlabelledView post →We random watched a film called Captive State. Two out of five stars. Too pretentious and boring for us to get hooked; there were a few interesting action sequences, but they either ended early or had many awkward jump cuts. The shaky handheld camera throughout the whole movie was also unpleasant.

Earth is invaded by an alien species who start depleting the planet of natural resources so a group of Chicago humans decide to rebel. Better than expected. Slow to begin but an exciting ending. Not bad. 6/10 #Movies #Film

It doesn’t matter what the audience or critics have been saying (in fact, it never does) because it won’t affect my enthusiasm (in fact, nothing does). By knowing who the cast, director, writers, and producers are, I instantly know how high or low I need to set my expectations. Having this in…
