unlabelledView post →For the last couple of months, I've been writing a weekly column on #indiegames on @hard-drive.net, via its non-fiction Minus World section. This week's column is on Spitfire Interactive's CAPES, which I didn't know was getting a total rework until I was already racing my deadline. Oops.

unlabelledView post →15 yrs playing next month Capes allow for people to be creative with their skins, and having more options to get them allows for that. Capes behind pay wall of any sort = not good. Unique capes help with storytelling of MC, something Agnes has mentioned in interviews of MC being a game for stories.

unlabelledView post →Not sure if you're looking for more Capes type games to reference, but Spectaculars looks to have some really fun "4th wall breaking" mechanisms that explicitly make the game sessions as made by a comic team.
unlabelledView post →idk what you're looking for, but I really like Ex-Capes. While the game itself is post-retirement superheroes getting dragged back into the life, there's opportunities for players to flashback to their heyday. Uses the Brindlewood system so your table comes up with solutions to problems together.
unlabelledView post →For the game, no. They are reprinting the spinoff comic Capes atm and almost every issue has a back end story that gives backstory to Ella Mental since she's original to the game. Very strange to introduce a game OC and give zero context to her within the game itself.
unlabelledView post →playing some CAPES, a really great 90s vibed comic book superhero tactics game, held back by being a tad grindy & an unforgiving difficulty. I'm playing it here on casual, which is the best way to enjoy it, imo. #GameSky 🎮 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv9_...
unlabelledView post →Game. Capes.
unlabelledView post →Capes game: Toying with the idea of "if your power would let you do it, you get a critical success no roll needed" because that feeds into the whole superhero, y'know, power fantasy. Problem: Super speed. Narratively, the speedster could mop up a room full of goons before anyone else could blink.
unlabelledView post →We need more superhero games in general imo. I would LOVE a Superhero isometric RPG, or a Skyrim style open world game. (even to the point of almost wanting to dev it myself, even though im a comic artist not a game dev). Justice LEague Cosmic Chaos is fun, Capes and Dispatch too (tho not DC)

To determine that, we'd actually have to have a bit more understanding of what they imagine the resulting play to look like because, as described, anything with a task/situation resolution mechanic would satisfy your question. However, I suspect that's not really what you want to know. My…

unlabelledView post →I finished the game "Capes". And, well, it's not a *bad* game by any means, but it could have been a lot more. First of all, if you write a superhero story and subvert the expecatations of the genre, know you are neither the first nor very original. Basically everyone does that. To the point where actual bright-eyed superheroism would be a fucking novelty. Also, the writing wasn't that good in general. It had some really good one-liners (which is a plus in this setting) but overall it feels a…
