unlabelledView post →ANOTHER game I picked up while ridiculously high that I'm really enjoying is Cabernet. It's a 2D victorian-y vampire RPG I barely finished day one, and it was a lot of game play. It has a demo so that's worth checking out, but I am finding it well worth my coin.

unlabelledView post →This is one of the best vampire games I have ever played. And I want to be precise about why, because it is not for the reasons you might expect. Yes, there are the usual decisions. You can be a vampire vegetarian, subsisting on the bare minimum and preserving your conscience along with it. You can be a predator: cold, controlled, bending mortals to your will with a glance and feeling very smug about it. You can be the kind of vampire that manipulates entire social situations from across a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel misled by the “Slavic” setting I bought Cabernet expecting a game set in a broadly Slavic environment. When a game deliberately describes its setting as “Slavic” rather than Russian, I naturally expect at least some mixture of Slavic cultures, references and perspectives. That is absolutely not what I experienced. This game is overwhelmingly Russian. Russian history, Russian literature, Russian cultural references and ultimately a Russian song dominate the game. I genuinely cannot…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I once again find myself in this recurring biennial struggle: I just finished watching the latest season of Interview with the Vampire and now have to spend the next two years finding ways to satisfy the craving. IT'S AN ADDICTION. HELP ME. And there are weirdly few vampire games in existence, and even fewer vampiric stories that reflect the incredibly introspective, overly romantic nature of IWTV or any of Anne Rice’s novels! But now? Cabernet. FANTASTIC. A gothic story about dark desire, the…

unlabelledView post →Cabernet, released in the first quarter of 2025, is a good vampire game. It's also a good game on its own right for the most part, but you'd be surprised at the sorry state of interactive vampire media we have. So, we are not strangers to vampires in videogames as enemies, as concepts, as aesthetics... But for the most part, unless your first name is Vampire, your middle name is The Masquerade, and your last name is Bloodlines or Redemption, chances are that the blood sucking ailment is…

unlabelledView post →Its a fun game, and should be a recommend... but it has so many bugs and issues. I had to roll back to a prior saved well over a dozen times because loading into an event or dialogue would just make everything impossible to interact with. I became frozen on screens multiple times and had all sort of game breaking bugs, If you decide to play save it every day on a new slot and try to minimize overwriting.

unlabelledView post →Hate the time mechanic. And yeah, I’ve read that you supposedly have enough time to finish everything before the ending triggers. (although opinions on this vary, I suspect this is possible but only with meta knowledge and/or extensive planning) But apart from that.. many quests have their own time limits or are locked to specific dates.. so you have to plan around that all the time while also trying to cram in book-reading sessions in between so you'll be able to pass skill checks. Naaah..…

unlabelledView post →you play as a vampire and can level up different stats as your rank increases, such as art, literature, or science. this unlocks various dialogue and story options. you also constantly choose between humanity and nihilism, meaning you can play either a mostly kind or evil vampire, which again opens and/or closes different paths. that's basically the core of the game & i'm enjoying it very much so far. i also have to praise the exceptionally good voice acting; there are some very unique voices…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This will be the first longer written review I have ever left on a game, but for Cabernet, I feel genuinely compelled. I came to this game after the launch of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2, which, a lot of you know, hasn't been really up to expectations. It's a wide pool that's very shallow. Cabernet is not that. It's an arguably smaller pool, but it goes incredibly deep. The art style is gorgeous, the VA and music is astounding, and the story genuinely pulls you in at every moment.…

unlabelledView post →When I first tried this game, I didn't expect how profound (in a very "down-to-earth" kind of way) it would turn out to be. It was funny, it was emotional, it was charming, it was horrifying, it was inspiring. But most importantly for me, it was thought-provoking. It provided me with a new perspective regarding the world, humanity, and the cyclical nature of history. And one of the most important take-aways of mine from this was: even if nothing matters, everyone is ultimately quite stupid…

unlabelledView post →This is one of those games that I mostly enjoyed but just can't recommend until it goes through some serious bug fixes. That extremely short list of beta testers REALLY shows. I constantly ran into situations where the game straight up forgot I had done things. For example, during Alisa's quest, I hadn't spoken to her before Kupala Night, when she resurrected Petya. Then later, Petya wanted to speak to her. I found her at the island, talked to her about the hideout, then told her Petya wanted…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Im gonna be honest, I do not recommend this game.... AT FULL PRICE. I got the game on sale but after playing I can't imagine it being worth 20 dollars. The game is super buggy. At some point I couldn't even move to continue playing. The only option I had was to exit and then come back. And then heres another problem- saving games. You can only save the game in one location so when I had to reload because of the bug, I was forced to go back quite a bit which was really irritating. Some…

unlabelledView post →Cabernet is an indie vampire narrative RPG. It's a very cool concept for a game, and those RPG trappings greatly enhance the experience. Unfortunately, Cabernet has a real lack of polish. I enjoyed it, but it could be way better. My review. bignerdgaming.com/2025/03/28/c...

unlabelledView post →Cabernet is so good. Successfully distills all the non-combat components of an RPG into an experience that doesn't waste your time and yet gives you all the satisfaction of progression, roleplay (admittedly very basic one) and untangling the characters' stories. Love me a good vampire game
unlabelledView post →Started playing Cabernet and my god it’s the perfect game for spooky season. Haven’t gotten that far yet but I’ve already turned into a bat and compelled someone so that’s pretty cool. The story is really captivating along with the diversity of characters that come with their each own interesting story to explore. I didn't expect to find such balance between the choices you can make and also how your own character can evolve personally and with her friendships. You can choose different approaches on how you wanna play it out so it's really up to you. It was…

unlabelledView post →A beautiful game which captures the atmosphere of the night in a small town perfectly. It was both enjoyable and haunting to explore the town and nearby nature in the dark, espcially when learning more and more about the rich folk lore.. The whole game felt like reading a beautifully drawn story book, complimented with a nice soundtrack and solid voice acting. And even though the overall story was just fine, I felt myself getting pretty attached to the characters and appreciate how much freedom…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eats. This is THE vampire Victorian gothic story-based game, as far as I'm concerned. The writing is very well done, and the atmosphere and tone are excellent. Specifically, this game balances "cozy" and "gothic" on a knife's edge, and it works so well. In this game, unless you're following a guide very closely, there is no possible way to get everything "correct" on your first playthrough. There is NO character who has plot armor to emerge unscathed. That is exciting - it raises the stakes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not expect to get this invested in the cast of characters. Most of their stories were very interesting and their struggles felt quite real (despite the supernatural touches). The whole vampire thing is also well done in a way that being a vampire does not feel annoying or restrictive. One of my main gripes with the game is that you cannot hover with the mouse to the item you want to click on screen, you need to approach with your character for the object to be interactable. This leads…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cabernet is a breath of fresh air within the relatively stale Vampire setting and can fairly confidently rely on its writing to keep the player engaged over its approximately ten-hour story. However, the game also struggles with a myriad of bugs, some balancing issues, and an overall lackluster ending. Story and Setting Players control Liza, a freshly turned vampire who wakes up with no recollection of her death or the events leading to her death, in a 19th-century manor. Apart from an…

Here is what I think after my first blind playthrough: - The voice acting is supreme - it really makes this world and the characters come to life in an incredibly immersive way - so is the writing for the characters, just lovely. - The art style is really adorable as well, its so much fun to play and look at, including the music. - A vampiric game with a female protagonist? With queer romance options across the spectrum? Thats just incredible and what I always looked…

Story and characters were so engaging (so many choices), I loved it from start to end. Gonna definitely keep an eye on these devs future games. I just wished we couldn't see the effect of our choices right away, it kinda makes you choose the "best" option rather than full roleplaying it.
