Burlesque
Ali leaves behind a troubled life and follows her dreams to Los Angeles, where she lands a job as a cocktail waitress at the Burlesque Lounge, a once-majestic theater that houses an inspired musical revue. Vowing to perform there, she makes the leap from bar to stage, helping restore the club's former glory. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →OiG Sunday Confession I just watched Burlesque for the first time (15 years past due) and the through line for Stanley Tucci from here to The Devil Wears Prada is straight and clear. I’m all in for anything with him in it. Has he ever made a bad film? On a side note 🎵 I think I missed my calling 💋
unlabelledView post →I have always loved Burlesque, a perfect film about air rights, and it’s so gratifying that Cher has embraced the best song in the movie as her anthem. (It was also the 11 o’clock number in The Cher Show, but seeing it in print makes it even more real.)

unlabelledView post →Charlie Chaplin liked DeMille's movie, clearly, because his BURLESQUE ON CARMEN (1915) spoofed it scene-for-scene (the adaptation of the novel had been penned by William de Mille). Edna Purviance clearly had a blast as the wicked Carmen.

Equally adept in Burlesque and Beckett, his career spanned stage and film. 🦁❤️⭐️ #MovieSky

unlabelledView post →"Like the movie?" No. Burlesque is not like the movie. Not even a little. I mean, I guess the movie had the performances happen on a stage, and there was music involved, but other than that... No.
