Blade & Bones is an action/adventure souls-like yet colourful rpg/metroidvania combat driven game (wow what a mouthful but it delivers enough to validate all these tags) and it caught me by surprise, as it will catch everyone who comes across it. This game is, according to me, the quintessential indie game. It is casually self aware while being incredibly fun at the same time. For me it was the best surprise from the indie side this year, although it is a little on the short side (around 4-7…

As this game is right now, I would recommend against a purchase. I had thought that the complaints of the poor hit detection were a bit exaggerated, though they were not. My attacks on the first two enemies encountered, even at point blank range, would not connect. This game feels as though it should be an early access title instead of a full release.

Blade and bones combines a wonderful world with a unique layout and non-linear progression with sword based combat... Sadly - it doesn't do so with any great competence. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-3HXxfywuw Text: As always, a few paragraphs of text can never convey the nuance of a video. The game-world is unique and cool, with a well built lore and a well designed cohesion with allowances to traverse, find and look for your own way around, discern secrets and figure out…

Good ideas, but the game is totally unpolished. Missing sounds, gfx effects, shadows, simple AI, mediocre collision box... Too much things smell like early beta. It has potentials though, if only devs would continue its developement... but because I see no activity since Feb 2017 (now is Aug 2017) I'll ask for refund (I rarely use), sorry, even if I was tempted to leave it in my library. Will possibly re-buy it when complete and polished. No Italian language support.

July update: Welp, it's July now, and Blade & Bones has seen no updates since the last one, nary a peep from the developers since the beginning of March when they responded to a thread in the forums, from what I can tell. It's hard not to assume abandonment at this point, considering the game is at below 50% positive reviews (and still riddled with crippling gameplay issues), and how up-front and transparent the developers used to be. I recommend steering clear until there's some activity, if…

This game reminds me of a ps2 classic, its somthing you will never forget. To start off, I beat the game. I played it all the way through and did most of the side missions as well as complete almost all the achievements. That being said, would I want to play the game knowing what I do now? Maybe. I decided to rate this on a scale from one to ten, with five being "acceptable" and not adding anything or taking anything away. STORY: 7/10 The story of the Orins is interesting. It has a lot of themes with seven, and the characters for the most part are…

At this stage, the game is confusing and boring, combat is slow and clunky. The only block you get is dodge. If you die 7 times your save is DELETED and you start at the very beging with nothing but your bamboo sword again. Not worth the $17

The game looks very interesting. It is very nice to bring Ambrose Bierce and Musashi to the game. Now the game has a purpouse to kill common enemies, they drop some item to restore the sword. Othe very nice aspect is the experience to control the day/night cycle and use each night to do different things. The game remembers Shadow of the Colossus and Journey and includes a very nice Metroidvania aspects by needing to get buffs and items to be able to fight the bosses. If you like to explore…

An interesting idea, but implemented very poorly almost to the point that it feels like they arrived at point where the game was 'playable' and said "yeah, this is good and requires no further work let's release it". Truly feels like an Early Access game. Would have been sad if i bought this, since i got it from a humble bundle pack some time ago i don't really care. Spend you money somewhere else, this is not worth it even on sale.

Big no on this one sadly, and as you can see I bought this "as is" day 1 and all that. Really taking the "soul" out of Dark Souls, just a bland and uninsprired/amateurish attempt at recreating Dark Souls with none of the fun, aesthetic finesse, or mechanical sophistication. Definitely not worth the asking price. I was intrigued by this game's graphical style and I'm a fan of the "Souls" series, so I thought I was set to be blown away. I have tried the similarly priced / designed Malebolgia on Steam. However, in motion the animations and gameplay can be quite clunky. The game itself is obviously an homage of sorts to the Souls games, however all of…

The world is interesting enough to the point where you wish it was a good game. But it isn't in it's current state and probably never will be as I'm writing this in 2018. The gameplay is boring 1v1 combat against robotic AI with 0 flow. Hit detection ain't even switched on and half the time you could be INSIDE the model of the enemy and still somehow miss an attack. Sometimes pressing the light attack button twice allows you to do a combo, and sometimes it doesn't, leaving you vulnerable to…

Blade & Bones could be so good... if it would just be a bit better. This might be a no, but a very hard one, as the concept is absolutely amazing. Basicly, it's an highly explorative Action-RPG with permadeath and pretty intense, unforgiving Combat. Now add to the mix generated swords, each with it's own stats, and the option to combine different fighting styles to create your own way to play, a world so violently beautiful it could just split your eyes in two and Dark-Souls-like bosses, sign…

It has its own visual style, but gameplay often feels far too similar to ignore the comparison. Most reviews for this game tell you not to play, but i think if you give it a chance you may find some enjoyment. It may not be on the calibre of Dark Souls, but it is good. The only complaints form me are the fact that combat can be clunky and the fact that the game feels very quiet, with little to no sound at parts. Also try not to fight enemies at the very start, you will struggle until you find new swords, artefacts or blessings.

I want to like this game. The landscape is varied, the day/night cycle is fresh and the lore is intriguing. But the combat is awful. You can swing at an enemy and miss despite your blade cutting through their body. They can attack you and miss you by a whole arm's length and still land a hit. This might not be a problem, if not for the fact that the combat is fundamental to the game. You have seven lives, and when you run out, your save is deleted. Blade & Bones plays, talks, and acts like an indie Dark Souls, and I mean that in the bad way. In Blade & Bones, you play as a nameless prisoner(?) who's destined to find seven swords around the world, and...do something. In all honesty as of writing this review I have a mere 15 minutes in the game, however within that short span of time B&B made an absolutely horrible first impression that laid bare all of it's flaws. The concept of the game is nice, as well as the graphics. That's the good stuff. But the biggest issue is the broken combat. It's fun to have a Souls like game with not working hit detection, so that a lot of hits go right through the enemy, without taking any damage.

It certainly has a narrative and aesthetic appeal. The combat would be really fun if the hit detection wasn't so bad. Most hits won't land, and it even seems to have a better chance of landing when you don't lock onto a target. It just feels incomplete. Game feels like a prototype at best, completely unpolished. Combat tries to be dark souls but lack any depth whatsoever. Non existent level design to guide you to location, instead relying on butterflies that you need to follow. Blade & Bones is a third person consolesque brawler where you run around and fight a bunch of enemies. There's a needlessly convoluted series of "gestures" and other abilities that seem to be thrown in to try make the game more convoluted than it needs to be.
