Jools Watsham was inspired by Bionic Commando but said "You really can't make a 2D game these days without people going 'No, I don't want to buy that,' but you can put it into a 3D environment and they'll go OK it looks cool"!

This wacky take on a racing game has a grappling hook mechanic inspired by Bionic Commando...for the Japanese release, much of the game's artwork and music was changed to fit the market (notice Q-Tee here)!

unlabelledView post →even a number of their 80's hits were super "western" in their theming, like Ghost 'n' Goblins (cartoony Halloween monster game), Bionic Commando (beloved pastime of Kill Hitler) and Final Fight (The Warriors, Streets of Fire, but in arcades) and they *still* got othered constantly.

This was used to write games such as Bubble Bobble, Bionic Commando & Ghouls 'n Ghosts. A Tatung Einstein dev machine is used to edit/assemble/deploy the game image to the target computer.

unlabelledView post →Bionic Commando. That’s a fantastic NES game. Clunky transceiver mechanic in that original release, but still rad. Radd.
unlabelledView post →Spider-man From Different Dimension Awesome game to play, simple straight forward linear game play with nice fights and story. Game ends with cliffhanger but unfortunately no sequel was made, I wish this game had sequel. Need more of these types of linear single player story mode games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Coming from Marvel Vs Capcom 3 I was always told that Spencer, the protagonist of this game, was from a bad game called Bionic Commando, and this winter I decided to find out if that was true or not. For $3 on a winter sale I had a blast of a weekend with this game. It's a lot better than I thought it was with a fun story with some nice twists. The gameplay is pretty good too. Grappling around feels pretty good and it flows in combat nicely. The game has also graphically aged pretty well too,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3. I think it's possible to give credit towards the good aspects of something without automatically treating it as a "hidden gem" every time A game like Bionic Commando has a cool arm mechanic but the rest of the game is, like, still not good.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the best Bionic Commando game imo. It's so polished, so pretty, banging soundtrack, great difficulty balance. Really, REALLY makes me wish we could have gotten an SNES Bionic Commando.
unlabelledView post →This game is actually awesome, the hate it got when it released is absolutely not justified. People often complain about the gritty atmosphere, bad story and lackluster gameplay, but many of these flaws are greatly exagerated. If you play this game in 2025 like I did, the tone, colour scheme, graphics and game design will make you feel like you're sitting on before your xbox 360 yet again, an absolute time capsule of the game. If you're looking for a break from all those layers of irony in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bionic Commando is a great game. Got bad reviews when it came out, if my memory serves me well. This is one of those games that got unfair reviews and it is an 8/10, It has some flaws and baffling decisions that I will get to in this opinion piece. Maybe the best aspect of this game is that traversal isn't easy aka it is a skill you have to learn. It takes some time to click but it is one of the best traversal in 3rd person action games. Arkham series...fun, Spider Man,,,,boring, Bionic…

unlabelledView post →Bionic Commando 2009 gets a lot of flak but I actually liked that game. It's definitely steeped in Xbox 360 era Gritty Edge but it's fun to play and has a killer soundtrack Deadpool mocking Spencer's redesign in MVC3 is good for a laugh too
unlabelledView post →It's so funny to me that there are like 4 separate games called Bionic Commando and they're all in the same series. No subtitle, just, "Bionic Commando." Different games. Different consoles. One of them is a legacy sequel. One of them is half a port, and half a total new game.
unlabelledView post →My only concern is that I fear bad actors will use these tactics to take down games like Bionic Commando to game the system.
unlabelledView post →i really like how the guy said "wow my wife is arm" (she was the arm it was crazy) they cooked with this game fr fr and it has zero bugs at all (true)

unlabelledView post →Capcom has been sneaking in Enigma DRM on their older games with an update purely to block modding. This DRM causes performance issues, crashes and has broken Steam Deck support on some games. Enigma has been known to trigger antivirus programs since it’s also malware. Do not support this anti consumer company, they want to destroy modding to sell you skins and microtransactions! Capcom won’t fix their old games but they’ll gladly add malware DRM on decade old games for petty reasons.…

unlabelledView post →GRIN's Bionic Commando is a low key masterpiece and deserves a sequel more than any other game that exists.
unlabelledView post →As a person whose internet presence is mostly-known for comparing ports of videogames: this is absolutely true (for contemporaneous releases). Like, yes, I enjoyed Bionic Commando on NES and Game Boy more than in the arcade, but the arcade looks WAY better. Soul Calibur was a quantum leap.
