unlabelledView post →What a brutal, depressing, cynical movie. I haven't been this depressed leaving a movie since I watched Big Fish while my dad was in a coma. Do NOT recommend.
unlabelledView post →It’s still my opinion that Big Fish is the best movie Tim Burton has ever made, even tho’ I can only watch it every few years* because the ending makes me a sobbing mess.

I first introduced it 15 years ago, it was titled "Da Hai", co-produced with a French company. Back then donghuas were rarely mentioned. catsuka.com/news/tag/da_...

unlabelledView post →When I first heard “Karl” as the name of the fog in San Francisco I thought it sounded dumb but just assumed it had some deep meaning and dated back years. And then I found out it was a recycled name of a Karl the Giant from Tim Burton's 2003 film Big Fish and I couldn’t be less onboard with that.
unlabelledView post →7. Big Fish: This is a pretty cute movie with some fun little short story-vignettes. I will admit that it did start to go on a little bit too long for me, but the last 15-20 minutes make up for it!
unlabelledView post →BIG FISH is probably my favorite Burton movie these days. WHO'D A THUNK A MOVIE ABOUT A GUY DEALING WITH HIS FEELINGS ABOUT HIS BAD DAD WHO LIES A LOT WOULD RESONATE WITH FARTS JOHNSON It's a very sweet film and doesn't really seem like a Burton film at all, except for the Helena Bonham Carter bits
unlabelledView post →I'm disgusted that - although you haven't explicitly said so - the title of this film is clearly "Big Fish, Small Pond" or something similar

Here, I feel the style and story go hand in hand, and it's one of the most fascinating book adaptations put to film.

I knew him best from movies like Big Fish, Miller's Crossing, and Erin Brokovich -- but when I recently embarked on a Kitchen Sink film journey, I was delighted to discover him in Saturday Night and Sunday Morning. Great stuff.
