The game has a very nice atmosphere, but no one is online... so it's a bit redudant not to have the possibility to play offline against bots... Please change that!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played 80 mins against bots and I have been playing ACW games since 1990 so trust me when I say that this is the best ever ACW FPS ever created from customization of character to weapons and game play functionality. It is tragic that the devs quit on this game. I guess they figured they got all the money they could out of it. This has so much going for it. It is still fun solo in a server fighting bots.

We tried to join the napoleon server to play against each other, and then someone started mass kicking us from the server. Went to a new one, they followed us and did the same. 3 times. Fun game, but either the mods or devs are killing it. Oh well. Off to try and get a refund from steam.

What makes this game special is the Command and Conquest game mode, where you can give orders to a regiment. although it seems no one plays it anymore except for a few people fro some reason.

The various ways to command bots and the different orders was a surprise as I searched for such a civil war game for a long time and it's implement simplistically but still in a good way. Apart from that, the game is dead and only worth it for 1.20 euros. But as a hands on, on the ground regiment lead it is a good game, especially if you have good friends to play with. Wouldn't recommend buying without a large sale.

Commander mode is why I bought the game and since they have bot commanders running around with squads and filling up the games it makes it endless fun. No other game is like this except the predecessor (m&bNW) and I love games where you command squads or armies of bots especially when you can direct control them in 3pv or 1pv like you can here. To an extent, it was honestly better than some Mount & Blade titles with its battle mechanics, and commander conquest on it can be a blast if you can find the players for it. The only real issue being the cav and a few infantry variants feel a little undercooked.

It is a good game that deserved better and the devs did try to bring us that historic civil war experience. It is sad that it is now no longer being developed due to costs. I feel the company should make the game open source so the community can take over and make their own updates and patches so this gem doesn't fade into the background of historic games.

A commander battle with 4 a side still brings tons of enjoyment and I'll keep playing. Thankfully the devs have added AI commanders which means you can still battle with 300 bots on both sides!
