The series has a very interesting storyline and provides the player with numerous challenging quests/puzzles. I've played Aveyond back when the first one was released in 2006(or so), and the Aveyond 3 chapters are equally exceptional.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Large edit to review after playing more and having some stupidity of mine pointed out. Right. My biggest issue with this game and the reason I don't advise it is that it's utterly boring to me. I had no fun and the story didn't capture me in the least. That may be due to the fact I haven't played the first one but still. I can't get into it at all. Maybe it'll pick up later. I might keep messing with it but I've given it an hour and a half and it still hasn't caught my attention at all or been…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly felt totally, absolutely, completely lost in this one. I progressed only by accident. Nice idea, the execution sucked. Didn't finish, too noob for such, uh, piece.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this little GEM is part 2 of the series I have played though part one and am almost to the end of the second part, and after that I am ready to share my finds. I feel like this game lacks direction and at times leaves you throwing up your hands tring to remember who wanted what and where that who was in the first place. the quests journal is not terribly helpful and the world map while I think its kind of cute drawn out like a mini pirate map it too is not terribly helpful because it does not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The previous chapter ended with Heptitus stealing your first quarter key. Mel and her friends must find a way to take it back and after that, to find the rest of the keys around the world. Will they foil the Lord of Twilight's plan to take over the living world? Besides, now that Lydia managed to get a way into the team, will Mel and her reconcile their differences? Aveyond 3 was fragmented in four chapters. This one is the direct sequel of Lord of Twilight and as usual, the story is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not really an RPG'er, but I got it free from humble bundle. i like it! for me maybe $2, but if into pixelated RPG's i would have to say its worth the going price. altho part 2, i couldnt really tell the difference. started out solid and making sense to me, but i did play the intro to see what i was up against. typical B grade sense of humor and style. i'm a casual gamer, but i still enjoyed it, now if i only had more time to finish it. the quests and dialog are quite entertaining too. its good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →** NOTE BENE: Amaranth Games just {27JUL2026} issued FONT update to fix text readability issue caused by recent Win 11 update. I'm reposting this review as it has disappeared from my Profile Reviews list ? AVEYOND 3-2: Gates of Night {A:GoN} is an interesting and enjoyable RPG, that I also consider to be a Visual Novel. Combat is turn-based. I highly Recommend playing through all four episodes … They all are excellent games that combine to make a memorable tale {A:GoN} is the second…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoy part 1 and 2 of this game. When will part 3 and 4 be out?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was worth for the incredibly low price of 0.00€.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dude i really wish there were a more in depth journal and a map, would really help a lot
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved this series. Cool little games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love this game really fun especially since it's a old-school RPG style game one of the downfalls is you have to buy first half and the second half separately be able to buy them in a bundle pack was still for the price that you pay it still worth it you can use the Xbox style controller for the game.most of all it's got some really good plots and twists on top of that it's that kind of aversion of the old-school final fantasy in
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the second part of the Aveyond: Orbs of Magic Series, so it is recommended that you only play this after part one. But there's a lot of improvements. In part one, besides the story, there's some side quests and some areas to explore. In part two, the entire world map is available for you to explore, and that alone makes this part twice as large. There's also new side quests and, unlike part one, this game finishes without loose ends. Part one and two are almost separated from part three…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Continuing this game series from the first Chapter and you get to keep everything from it IF you have a save. If not... You will be doing Chapter one and two in this one. Again. Fun nostalgia... But... This one had even less character development. Like none at all pretty much. Stella for example: why in the hell should I give a damn about her? Not only I know jack about her... Even in the end when stuff happens -> I still didn't give a damn! Yeah she was a White Mage and the thing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All I can say is: thank god for google. This game is the worst of the four part series. I can't express how lost I felt playing this game. I almost never knew where to go and I had so many quests that I didn't have the faintest idea how to finish. There was one VERY big problem I have to highlight. It is possible to accidenly miss vital items you need to finish the game, which in that case, sucks to be you. I missed one chest early on that in my opinon, was easy to miss. Turns out that one…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aveyond: Gates of Night is the second game in the Aveyond series, and although I have not played the first game, I could immediately follow along with the story of this game. Pros: -Immersive story, great character and plot development -Wonderful game for people new to the RPG genre -Graphics and sound is reminiscent of the early Final Fantasy and King's Bounty games Cons: -Bit expensive for a game of this type -Not much customization and options available within the game This is a good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well... it's 9,99€ at the moment and i think it should be more cheaper. 4/10 because of the price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good RPG. Awesome story with great sounds.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aveyond 3 Is a great RPG. It has a rich story, fun hidden goodies, good battle system, and nice balance between story and battling. It's a shame STEAM doesn't currently carry their previous installments in the series (Ahriman's Prophecy, Aveoynd: Rhen's Quest, and Aveyond 2: Ean's Quest). Knowing the stories from those previous games makes Aveyond 3 make for a richer story experience and ties in a lot of things you otherwise wouldn't have known about but none of which are essential to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is somewhat like the earliest FF games, but it lacks story and direction. I have no idea where I'm going most of the time because the place is so huge and there are very few clues as to where I should be going. It's definitely not as good as the first Aveyond.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of what you did on the first chapter. Combat still mostly spamming normal attacks. Lydia does add a bit to it with her spell effects(don't plan on using them for damage unless it's on a group). Other than that a well done RPG.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little RPG thus far. It is turned based. It has a vampire in my party which is not something I have had ever before with an RPG. : ) Plays fine. Has a nice menu system. Music is what is expected. Also includes some sort of tab where you can get a description of each party member. Looks old school. Runs fine as it should on my pc or any pc for that matter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another ♥♥♥♥♥♥ rpg made in rpg maker.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't see the appeal other reviewers talked about. I'm a half hour in and haven't seen any actual story other than go here to get this random thing that should allow you to defeat some guy. I spent more time trying to figure out where I'm suppose to go with the vague 'quests' than actually doing anything enjoyable. The pixel art is nice and some time went into crafting the music but everything else falls flat.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A generic comment for a generic RPG maker game, with the generic RPG maker sprites. I was bored on the first five minutes, fortunately, I got this for free. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate all RPG maker games, but this one just doesn't 'feel'.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dont know how to ice skate
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, I haven't manage to experience the game almost at all, but this 2D some kind of adventure game may interest the players of this kind of genre. I might try to play the story again in another time. Check some gameplays too before you jump to the fire.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aveyond is bae :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Im pretty done with the JRPG element 8bit era. I did it to death in the 90s. I dont need it again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You play this game and you get lost. You try to get out and you get lost in a new area. Then you finnaly return to the first area you got lost in and see a obvioius way out you take it, and you get lost. You throw away the game and millions of years later aleins come and play the game, and they get lost. Im lost in thought...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An ordinary RPG game with nothing special. 8/10, just like any RPG maker, this game is similar to ones I play. Luckily, Ii got this for free.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played for 11 minutes. talked to random people. skipped all dialogue. didnt know the story. relised that this is pretty much a talking simulator rip off of pokemon and final fantasy. fought a rat. instant death from one critical hit. quit game. uninstalled. 10/10 would talk again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like it's exploration w hidden items or locations. I love the storyline
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this series. It is fun and satisfying
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't like this kind of jrpgs, i don't like their gameplay overall. But this one felt a bit shallow? since i didn't play the previous game(the story looks like it's picking up from another point in time), i was just dropped into this world, and randomly learnt about the characters. the small part of the initial story didn't really have any substance for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE THIS SERIES!!!! I can't get enough. After I'm done I'll go back and play Aveyond 1 and 2. This game has so much charm and you get really attached to some of the characters. I love their personalities, the story, the turn-based fighting, and being able to explore the world.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favourite games!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love the whole aveyond series, from rhens quest to now
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played this years ago. still love it to this day
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Being an old RPG maker game, the gameplay is definitely outdated, and I really dislike the map layouts, it's just full of dead ends everywhere forcing you to spend unnecessary amounts of time just walking around for no reason, even in towns. The story is really good though and drags you in. I played this a long time after I played the first in the series, so I had issues knowing what's where at the beginning of the game and having to rely on googling because the game seriously lacks guidance in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very pleasant continuation of Lord of Twilight. It is very easy to miss the candy bowl in Witchwood during their Halloween event, which is required if you want to propose to Mel as Edward. I recommend consistent saves because I had to force shutdown my laptop at least 4 times when it froze. Though that could also just be my experience. I definitely recommend exploring on your own for most of the game as guides are a little tedious to refer to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To anyone reading this - play this game! The story is so awesome and wholesome and beautiful. Amaranth games did such a great job with the all the Aveyond games but these 4 games in the Orbs of Magic series are even better, somehow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this game a lot. I was a little annoyed with how much backtracking there was in this game. Other than that I still liked it a lot and I would play it again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely start with Aveyond 3-1 or the story won't make all that much sense. I liked the game a lot. I liked that you could continue with your save from the previous game. Depending on your choices there, some quests could not be done. I recommend this game and the whole series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sorry I love all the Aveyond series , I own them all
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple, but amazing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →for oldtime sake,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just completed this game. I'd highly recommend it. The visuals, gameplay, and music are absolutely astonishing. Just bought Aveyond 3-3 and I'm excited to complete that one as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game 3-1 was very good and I finished it. So on to the second game in the series. What? Everything is exactly the same as the first only now you are at a level 18 and all the enemies are too weak to provide any interest in battle. You spend all the time avoiding them. all the chests are empty. Once you get used to all this the game gets better but not in the same class as 3-1 (twilight) Best game of the 4 is the last one "Prophesy" EDIT: The above is true if you continue the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf2KdgQqeTw&t=3s I am not sure if the game gets "good" later down the line, but it could not keep me engaged to find out. The graphics are very simple. Pixelated art can be attractive, but this is definitely not. Lack of ultrawide or wide screen aspect ratio. Low resolution options. No WASAD navigation, only click based. Options menu is lacklustre to say the least. I loved the music but there is absolutely none when you are outside of a town. Which is sad…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad RPGmaker game, I finished 1-3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Topdown - RPGMaker&PartyRPG Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Aveyond series uses stock RPGMaker assets. It failed to fullscreen correctly on my monitor. Users report it is poorly balanced. Not worth the timesink.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really not very fun, another Gamemaker game that doesn't show off any new potential and lacks of any true character. In addition there is no option to change the resolution which is locked to a tiny window or a disgusting fullscreen.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aveyond 3-2 didn't disappoint. I wish the first and second chapter were merged into one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had discontinued the game in 2016 since I couldn't find a 'full free version', as was the case of mine for years. But one thing stuck with me - the sheer desperation and love for Aveyond 3-1: Lord of Twilight. And when I stumbled upon the Steam Summer Sale, I just HAD to buy it. This game showed me why Steam dominates the game market is what I'm saying here. Coming to the game, it totally blew me away. The game takes longer to finish, which is a plus in my book. There are more new places to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →best game i've ever played in my life. genuinely.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A real good follow-up on the previous game. If you enjoyed the first, this one is a must to get. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is not bad but i spend too many time to do 1st question :D 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i like the story and the gameplay keep it up
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kinda fun at the beginning, then you can get lost. It has an interesting story and a regular RPG mechanic for a casual game made in a RPG maker. Its not bad for killing time.
