This game is getting dragged in reviews, and I don't understand why. It's a unique entry in the 4X Space Genre with M002 turn-based campaign map and a 2-D RTS combat layer in space and ground battles. I've produced and hour long video with more thoughts. I also have a few gripes and lots of tutorial-like details. If you give it a watch, but still give it a pass you'll have given the game more thought than any of these negative reviewers did. Seriously...posting a review for others to see…

With thousands of hours invested in Stellaris, I can honestly state that this game is both a fun and a refreshing take on the space 4X genre. Does it have some grammar issues? Sure. But, one should be willing to overlook something like this especially when you consider that the game is the product of a single Uruguayan developer/programmer. Of course, you'll need to spend more than 20 minutes to begin to properly experience what this title has to offer, so I would challenge you to do so.…

Gameplay is basic, gets boring after an hour. Research is frustratingly limited. Ship design seems pointless. Interface could use work. Campaign is a grind. Planet management is the only thing that seems interesting, but it's also very fiddly. Resources don't seem to matter much. There are far better 4X games for half the price. This game is bare bones at best.

I am very troubled by this game. I absolutely don't want to hurt an indie developer's pocket book, especially when they have good ideas and are still working on the game. At the same time the game is six months after launch. I've played it a good deal more than my Steam account shows due to a friend who can't return his copy. The Good: --A very MOO2 feel, with touches of MOO1. --The races are distinct. --Custom race making allows for a lot of options and potential replayability. --3/4 of…

It's ok, but it is pretty simple 4x if you can call it that, More like being puzzles to the next level. Not enough for me to stay engaged in the game. I do like the random maps and random tech.

I was a beta tester for this although I came into the testing in the later phase (Super4est on Slitherine, Nandus). Sorry I'm just now getting my review here but as another posted, it came on a busy weekend for me and I wanted to get in some games of the actual steam version before reviewing. Gaming background - mostly wargamer (board and PC), also like many video game genres such as 4x with MoO being one of my all time favs. I've enjoyed 4x since playing its early board game origins -…

I'd like to be able to give this game a positive review, because it's great to see a developer who keeps at it after their game's initial reception is less than stellar. And I don't think the actual gameplay is as bad as reviews overall make it out to be; there's what could be a decent if somewhat content-light game here, with a few interestingly non-standard features, like mining and colony priority. But... 1) The bugs. Oh, the bugs. Like sometimes not being able to load my savegame, because…

I scarcely know what to say about the game at this point, about this game. Yes, about half hour is all I could handle at once. I believe there is a fairly good MOO2 like game here, but it's horribly muddled by a poor interface and abysmal graphics. They look cartoony, at best. They switch back and forth between different styles. It destroys any illusion that you are a grand admiral at the helm of a galactic nation. Combat is real time, for some mind bogglingly stupid reason. The tutorial is…

for 5-10 bucks this game would be fun to remind ourselves of MOO2, but it is literally a meh remake of it, with similar graphics and slight upgrades here and there. Really wanted this to be a fun game.

Reading the first reviews, i must say i was very much on my fence. I am an avid 4x gamer since Master of Orion in 1993 and my first interest is space 4x. When the latest patch was about to be released, i decided to give the game a go. I must say, i am not a fan of the artwork on galaxy level, it is subpar to similar games like Stars in Shadow. However, the more and more i play the game, the more i enjoy it. I think it's a decent 4x game with some nice new ideas. The game covers all the aspects…

Lots of bugs or odd design choices. Tactical army combat just plain doesn't work; you can't give orders to your troops. To move fleets to the far left of the screen you have to zoom in and scroll left because the fleet window blocks the left side of the galaxy at full zoom out. Campaign just seems to be impossible even on easiest difficulty. Diplomacy seems bizarre; allies make ridiculous demands then alliance falls apart in 2 turns. Advancing turn mysteriously stops working until you…

I honestly didn't get very far into the game so am likely not the best reviewer, but I very much disliked my experience in the first few turns enough that I closed out. I was super excited to see an art style and seemingly similar design to Stars in Shadow, but was deeply disappointed. To start, it appears like your resources don't stockpile at all. I didn't play enough to test every resource, but it is very apparent for food. If you are generating surplus food for multiple turns but than go in…

A charming, yet flawed indie 4x game that at the end of the day is a mixed bag. The Good: It has a feel and look of a 1990s 4X game. It clearly draws heavily from Master of Orion 2 The Bad: it has a feel and look of a 1990s 4X game. It clearly draws heavily from Master of Orion 2. I really don't like the term "MOO2 Clone" because it's often used as a pejorative, but I do think it's an appropriate comparison in this case. The art style, tech tree, custom race creation, planetary…

It pains me to give this a down vote. The most important thing, gameplay, is right there. It is a fun, well paced game with some excellent game design choices. Unfortunately, I really hate it when a beta version is offered as a full release. It is far too full of game-breaking bugs. Just not ready.

I really did not enjoy the game but the developer is so good at finding and crushing bugs that I don't have the heart to down vote it. I disagree with some design decisions like not being able to research everything and the a.i. players get mad and it seems to turn into a blood feud forever and it costs too much to build ships and then you have to choose between defending or going on the offense. You don't have enough ships to do both and it is frustrating. But the developer and some players…

I have played hundreds of hours of MOO 2, and I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying this take on its style. If you have to have tons of eye candy, this game is probably not for you, but for me the graphics are perfectly fine. This game has a good number of traits like MOO 2 with which to customize your race {and some like creative are handled in a more balanced manner}. This game is far more easily modded than MOO 2 {and if for example you want to create races with a different style of images…

The graphics look incredibly old. I'm usually not one to judge a book by its cover but I was expecting better in terms of overall quality. The gameplay seems fine and I'm sure fans of Master of Orion 2 will enjoy yet I can't bear myself playing a 2020 game looking like a game from 1998. Hopefully the devs will update the graphics so as to be fitting our technological era. I'll unfortunately ask for a refund until then.

For now I can't recommend the game. It has some unique elements, which makes it interesting, even you have played all other games of this genre. The start is always okay, but with map progress you will find a lot of problems (bugs, logic issues, calculation issues and processing delays etc.). Even in lucky runs without fatal bugs, the delays while interaction with the game interface take all motivation away. If you provide feedback to the developer, you will get support. But there are way too…

Whoa, this game is lame. It reminds me of a Commodore 64 game from the 1980's. I would rather player Master of Orion, the newest one. I should have listened to the bad reviews. Requesting refund, I can't play this primitive, over complicated, simplistic mess. How can it be both? Buy it, try it and find out.

This being a game from the developer, I have had low expectations. But OMG! Interface is so bad, you cannot even pick a new research project from the pop-up of the one just completed. It is like the designer doesn't even play games and their previous career was "project management".

Frankly, it's not a great game. Sorta mediocre, but taking into consideration it's made by a 1-man studio from Uruguay, it's at least a high-end OK game. It's measurable against a late 90's / early millenium game from Europe with it's very own flair - It's noticable that the one who made it has been inspired by a lot of other game elements. It has awkward elements, like repeating alerts, I've also had achivements fire without me touching those topics. I myself enjoy it first and foremost…

That’s actually a pretty good game and could be recommended to MOO fans. Yes, there’re bugs and from that point of view current build resembles 1.0 version of MOO2, but it’s stable and playable till the end. Graphics could be better, but its quality is consistent across the game. UI needs improvement, but there’s really nothing that can’t be fixed in 2-3 patches.

This game offers near endless replayability to enjoy, with many gameplay settings that make each campaign feel like a new experience. The freedoms to build your own battleships and learn to manage them optimally in the battlefield, the different factions with their own stories and mysteries to discover, and the ability to modify and alter the difficulty level to find new challenges, turn this game into a product with too much potential to experience. On the other hand, it calls my attention…

A good Masters of Orion 2 clone, even down to the 90s-style graphics. I love MOO2, so this is just what I like. It was a bit buggy on first release, but the developer has been good about quickly patching problems. The best improvement on MOO2 is the real-time ship combat which reminds me of the game Gratuitous Space Battles. It has a battle autoresolve feature if the player wants to skip over the easy battles.

This game is terrible. It looks and plays like something from the early 90s. Graphics are 25 years dated, controls are clunky, interface is poorly done and hard to navigate. Played for twenty minutes and then requested a refund. The Devs should be ashamed to have their name associated with this garbage. Not only would I say don't pay for it, but don't even download it for free once it becomes abandonware.

I enjoyed the Youtube videos, but after starting a sandbox and creating a game... It just wasn't the type of game that I was hoping it would be. Major downside with the game that the Devs need to bring into the game... Would be with adding more races to choose from. With only a total of 8/8 different races to play as and battle against, it's just an eh... That was my main issue...Second issue for me would be the map of the galaxy... I don't really batch Civilization games, but the map is like…

Astra Exodus is a relatively simple turn-based 4X game with real time battles. Ships move slowly in combat so being real time mostly just affects how weapons fire works. Unlike most 4X games, this one has a very basic story-based campaign. Even though it is a campaign, the map and the techs are randomized every time you play. Ship design involves giving you hulls with predetermined hardpoints with predetermined firing arcs. You then decide what weapons you want in each hardpoint and add power…

It´s ok to be honest. Diplomacy, Colony management, War in space, you know, what you expect from a 4x space strategic game. Not as refined as Stellaris or Endless Space but good enough to keep you entertained for a while. Careful with the mods, as they will often crash the game (at least it happened to me a couple of time with the Star Trek mod and Star Wars mod) when the End Turn button can´t be clicked and if you restart it will not load the game using mods. But everything else is OK.

I love 4x games in general, I like the art, I like the concept of having different planets be better at different jobs instead of just terraforming everything eventually, but this game is extremely, fundamentally, broken and there is no further developer support forthcoming. Three of the game's races break planet management when you load a save game playing as them, causing all planet population icons to disappear and preventing you from adjusting anything.
