60 of 63 · most liked firstVERDICT Only recommended for those truly desperate for a mecha experience--especially considering Steam has an awful lack of Japanese-styled fast mecha action. It's a shame that SHADE only took this Steam port as another cash-grab (they has attempted once with an always-online freemium coin-based multiplayer once in the past), instead of actually making an effort of streamlining this port with PC-friendly UIs & engine. Really disappointing for a 6 years old Vita port that's less playable than…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You could keep waiting for Amored Core to come to PC or just buy this game instead
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assault Gunners HD Edition is a late port of a Playstation Vita game. It really shows from a graphical perspective but it also means the game will run smoothly even on older PCs. I'm not going to be having a fit on graphics, we are here for the shooty mecha action after all. The port sports the infamous external config application that's so common in Japanese ports but thankfully it gets the job done and it's serviceable enough. This one you really have to play with the pad as the on screen…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: Customizable mechs Mechs at all, seriously why is there always a mech drought DLC seems to double the mission count if you enjoy it, plus there's survival mode Cons: Gameplay isn't very fun, mostly just mowing down hundreds of enemies a minute except they aren't satisfying to kill Boss enemies don't react much either and are usually killed after 5-15 seconds of circlestrafing Story is mostly long text scrolls, very little happens during a mission itself
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They tried to make a game and they failed. From the sounds hurt my ears. You can't even set the buttons. And they are placed very bad. The photos look a lot better than the game. An addition to the review after so long. The game looks like it was made 20 years ago, the levels are played from 1 to 10 minutes depending on the level of difficulty, the enemies are like stones with the durability of paper, especially most bosses. The levels quickly become repetitive and even the infernal arenas.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will only recommend this game if you are really desperate for a customizable mecha game. Enemy AI in this game is meh, the maps are all plain and empty and LOTS of frame drops. Mechs look great tho
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's like indie mobile games you clear enemies and they appear in front of you because next wave started but i like the customization worth the money for those beauty ♥♥♥ voices
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Video review (including score): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lHx8BGDh9o Assault Gunners is a third-person mecha shooter that was previously only available in Japan and exclusive to the Vita. The HD edition is a port of that game, and a very lackluster one at that. Pros: Upgrade and customization system. My favorite feature would have to be the mech customization and upgrade system. There are plenty of different parts to choose from, allowing customization of the mech’s body, legs, three…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It had potential but they stubbornly stuck to their Mobile Phone Game Design Philosophy. I like the mech designs, I wish they had an artbook. This game's difficulty is so imbalanced, the Game rely on swarms than properly structured and engaging missions. Story's there it's alright. Top Tier A list Voice actors doing their best for this mediocre game but even that won't carry it, repetitive lines, missing subtitles when battling Enemy Dgunner Bosses. Repetitive bosses, The gist is This game is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a port of 6 years old vita game it's sure is pricey. But at decent discount it's an easy recommendation if you want some little quick mech game. Port itself is quite functional, featuring most necessary options and full mouse support, though menu navigation is performed with mouse wheel rather than cursor for some reason. Just don't expect anything of Armored Core level of quality here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a Armored-Core-like game and very simple and cheap, a funny robot action game. Although the content of this game is thin and repetitive, but considering it can bring 10 hours of easy and fun game experience and as long as 10 US dollars, this is a very good value. And there is Japanese voice, nice Japanese voice. Before Armored Core 6 on PC (if From Software do it), this is a cheap alternative.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →since i'm not good at long explaination so i gonna make my "easy-to-understand" review here. -Goods: > still has nice gameplay as you expected from the mobile counterparts of this series (included "Dynasty Warrior" moment too.) > You can freely customize your mechs now. > There are character voices in the game. > secret routes contents added > better cutscenes (but not much.) > AI partners and ordering your partners added (You are not alone anymore.) -Bad: > Repetitive Gameplay…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assault Gunners HD Edition is as simple and straightforward you can get for a mech game from story to gameplay. Mars is under attack by automated AI and it's up to you and your squad to destroy the machines and discover who is behind these attacks. A simple story that presented purely in text before each mission that won't bring up any emotions but is functional to explain why you're in that area and your mission. Graphically, this is a VITA game and the models of the mechs you create and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No easy way to change key bindings or to even know what they are. Well off to make a guide if one isn't already in discussions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is it a port? Yes. but honestly if you like retro mech action it's actually pretty fun. If you are looking for cutting edge fast paced mech combat you got it, cutting edge graphics however would pass. I enjoyed the game, it's fairly priced, has many stages with different clear conditions, you can upgrade your mech and unit's parts, weapons, color etc. Overall i thought it was good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →General Recommendation: Only buy it on sale with the DLC. The game is garbage. Now for the review... Performance: This game performs great for a port... Until missiles start firing and the game slows down to single digit framerates. Graphics and Style: This is a mech game which COULD pass for a late PS1, early PS2 title stylistically. The menu reminds me of Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst. And the overall presentation is passable nostalgia. Sound: Midi music, again passable nostalgia. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love games like this where you can customize mechs, so I'm willing to forgive almost any flaw with a game like this, but the port is so bad I just can't reccommend it. There is just no excuse for doing absolutely ridiculous things like putting select and back on F and C throughout the whole game instead of Enter and Escape. The button to dash is Q instead of space or Control. It's like the people who ported this have literally never played a PC game of the last 10 years. It's just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wasted potential on a high quality DGunners game, they stuck to the low quality game mobile design instead. This game was released on PS VITA in 2012 and yet Armored Core Last Raven released on PS2 in 2005 and ported to PS VITA still has more quality. ++ The Good Stuff * Customization for mech appearance: You can only switch the upper body and leg, and weapons. There is no stats trade-off on weapons so say goodbye to the cool looking weapon you like if you get the stronger one. *…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is unplayable. Your boost runs out too fast, keyboard and mouse don't work except for navigating menus and camera turn rate is HORRIBLE. Don't compare this game to Armored Core. I would rather play old school Armored Core than THIS garbage. UNINSTALLWARE.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay. It feels like We have Armored Core at home. Customization is lacking and movement feels clunky and poorly implemented. It just screams budget. I would not get this except on extremely high discount.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know, I was about to thumbs down this game, but then I saw the asking price. I picked it up on a deep discount and I can honestly say I'd still not be upset if I'd paid for full complete set price. As long as you know what you're buying, this is a good value. This is one of those PSP or Vita HD releases that companies were doing for a while. The game was designed for portable play on a weaker device; extremely short missions, moderate control jank due to a smaller controller, and a very…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Barely 3 hours is what took me to complete the story of this game. Honestly, i don't know why i purchased this, first time i saw pictures of it, it seemed interesting but it really isn't. It's generic, it's bad, it's short, it's easy as easy can be, no challenge at all. It feels like a PSP game and a extremely bad one because there are a few actually good PSP games out there. Marvelous can make somewhat good games, overpriced for sure but if you look at their games Story of Seasons on the 3ds…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Only recommended for those truly desperate for a mecha other then that no the game don't tell you how the controls work
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you want the mecha version of Dynasty Warriors mowing down mechs brainlessly? Play this game on normal Do you want to get some challenge out of this game? play it on hard and there's actually some challenge some stages(and your allies are worthless in hard+ so more agency to you) until you reach stage 20. Honestly I was going to be a lot more positive on this review before playing stage 20 on hard but you can't tell me a single small target of a boss has more hp than my entire missile stock…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish they make more mech games like this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like people are being to harsh when this game is actually really solid. Assault Gunner is an old PS game that was never sold outside of Japan and was later given a PC port which is what this game is. You have a squadron of mechs that you get to customize with a range of different parts as the game continues. The highlight of this game is definitely the customization. It's part variety is insanely good and you can spend a lot of time making your perfect robot after grinding out the parts.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun game if you like Gundam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A beautiful confluence of Armored Core and Earth Defense Force. The most critical things I can say about the game are: 1. I had to change the resolution in order to play it and not get lag from certain missile launches (it's a testament to the game that I wanted to) 2. Not enough interesting\effective fist weapons (i.e. an energy sword or the included grenade knuckle) Don't believe the Shade this game is Marvelous!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome, quite fun & has a decent amount of replayability. Gripes & areas for improvement: • Need to allow players to use main, melee & shoulder weapons simultaneously without having to constantly switch between them because it felt a little tedious/annoying. (maybe sub weapon as well) • Too much graphical interface & text covering the screen. (would be better if they were smaller & on a side panel)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've already bought this game on PS4 back in 2017, but I'm willing to buy it again on PC! This game is like Armored Core, but on the smallest budget humanely possible. Combat feels alright, music is not too shabby, but the graphics can really use some improvements. Despite all that, I was surprised they invited Maaya Sakamoto to voice one of the navigators! Although the lines are very short and simple, it can even feel a little repetitive after playing for a while, but I'm happy to hear her…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Uh boy, this was surprisingly better than I expected. It feels like something you would find on Generation 6 consoles. There's a surprisingly huge amount of optimization for your mechs, lots of stuff to unlock, 50 missions (levels repeat though) and a survival mode. The difficulty at times spikes to insane amounts, but nothing you can't overcome with some upgrades and a little skill. I really enjoyed my run and would recommend it to people that like japanese Mech games like Armored Core.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Take one part musou, one part mecha, and mix vigorously. Enjoy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a reasonably fast paced mech game with the ability to give simple commands to a squad of up to three other mechs. There are a fair number of weapons and parts to customize your entire squad with, and once those parts are found, the leg and torso sections can all be upgraded to level 10, enhancing their abilities. Once parts are purchased, they can be used on any number of your mechs without added cost. You can give commands to them such as follow me or stay behind. Boss fights…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aggressively low budget Armored Core-like game. Nothing remarkable or particularly engaging but if you want to burn four hours on brainless gameplay some Friday night while drunk off your rocker waiting for your girlfriend to stop playing D&D and look at you again, you might have something "good" here... just wait for it to go on sale. The customization is neat but never really amounts to anything as deep or interesting as you'd see in its higher budget contemporaries. Almost all the missions…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →11/10 will buy more DLC or expansion loved this game since mobile version Fast paced mech action game with fair price Good Voice acting by popular japanese voice actor Control is kinda clunky with keyboard yet i dont know the role of AI..they're kinda.......stupid? this game should have multiplayer and yeah, nothing can go wrong with price under $15 and popular voice actor Play this underrated game i repeat, play this underrated game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get this game, It's just perfect
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played the mobile version (spa), and recently I found this PC version. I recommend the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →71. Assault Gunners Hd Edition (2018 game) i mean its fine, but it just really made me want to replay daemon x machina
unlabelledView post →Insanely mediocre and boring. What a waste of time and resources.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, it's like when you're craving pizza but the only pizza that is left is the cheese pizza. If you have Armored Core, you probably don't need this game. For those of us that haven't shelled out $40+ for AC though, for $2 this game is a pretty fun roll in the hay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its gundam, Dio in a mecha and all the evas with Mary :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has some heart, but is ultimately just a poorly made and unfun game. don't spend money on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice ass mecha / 10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a short and fast pace game 6/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you strive for mecha combat this is a game for you! An adaption of the game "Destroy Gunners" on Android all of the mechanics are still here with the bonus of using a controller. The bad thing though is that while "Destroy Gunners" was free to play, you're gonna have to fork over some real life mulah to play here. But I thought it was worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kinda crappy, but in a fun way. Stuck at a certain lvl bc of killing defense markers, too weak. Pretty lame. but the rest has been fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are expecting an Armored Core experience... this isn't it. Yes, It has giant robots. Yes, it has customization. However, the game itself is boring. There's no challenge to it at all. The story is ripped right out of an Armored Core game. Self-replicating AI drones have run amok on Mars, but things may not be what they seem... You get exposition before each mission in the form of a Star Wars crawl written by a 6th grader. There really isn't any difference between weapons except…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eeeegh uhhh mmmm....Good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it because it reminded me of the early Armored Core games (boy i miss that franchise) Now I don’t like to leave bad reviews most of the time. After all, someone worked hard to make this game and had a passion for it. Unfortunately they just either didn't have the time, resourcer or skill to make a good one. Unfortunately it not only looks like a simplified Armored Core clone, that's exactly what it is, with less customization, worse controles and no real story to speak of. This would…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can tell this was a Vita game. It honestly feels like a game you would play on an arcade machine. MKB, forget it. You'll need a controller to play this one. It has very stiff controls and feels unresponsive at times. The shooting is very run n gun. Missions are short. Didn't experiment with the customization options, but can't imagine it is really any better. was hoping for a PC mech game, but this isn't it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After enabling MKB controls my "mech" spins like crazy, tried everything. I "fixed" it by switching to controller and after that discovered how cheap and bad the game is. don't buy it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is shockingly boring, next time I am going to check videos online before I buy instead of trusting steam reviews as said videos would have shown that this is a crappy port of a PS Vita game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At 60% off, going in with low expectations I got exactly what I was hoping for at worst. It feels like a Playstation 1 game, basic but fun, with awesome Japanese voices as you issue commands. The controls on an XBox 360 gamepad are decent but a little sluggish when turning the camera. It certainly isn't Armored Core, or Zone of the Enders. We need more games like those and this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you swallowed Armored Core, digested the good stuff, and vomited what is left back up, you would have Assault Gunners HD. Cheap CHEAP knock off of Armored Core without the gusto.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What I have here is a take on mechs with mission style of gameplay. And while the overall impression is something of halfbaked(at least in terms of visual and presentation), the game still holds itselfs reasonably ok. I used to play a very old PC-DOS game(which was also ported to Saturn) called A.M.O.K. The game took the same idea of going through missions(although way more simplistic) and using an armored tech to deal with enemies. As I said, very simple since you could pick power-ups to help…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't have enough money for Daemon X Machina? Buy Assault Gunners Like legitimately I'm not joking, this is pretty much the skeleton they built DXM off of. A lot of things are missing from this game that were added and expanded upon in that game. Assault Gunners has similar weapons, similar upgrades etc. Even for being an older game it holds up pretty great so I'm thumbing it up, great mindless shootbangs in big chunky machines, Fantastic stuff.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AKA the way better than the Android Port (Destroy Gunners series) it is so good til its gave me 11 achievements in a single play... the gameplay however, is kinda ok. they added some customization system to make it armored core similar AND HELL THEY EVEN GOT DIO AS THE NAVI!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love mecha action game with mechas and weapons customization, Assault Gunner HD Editions got you covered. Assault Gunner HD was formerly a PS Vita game that eventually made it into the PS4 and PC. Graphics: The game's graphic is ancient, in a very good sort of way. While texture is ramped up to keep up with the current gen hardware. Low polycount per model allows hundreds of mechs to appeared on screen. And yes, literally anything above GEFORCE GT540M(an ancient graphic cards) can run…
