Argentina, 1985 (2022) 2. The Official Story (1985) 3. The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo (1985) 4. Night of the Pencils (1986)
unlabelledView post →Just watched movie “Argentina 1985.” Chilling given where we are today in USA. I hope we don’t descend as deep into fascism and cruelty as they did but that is exactly what MAGA DOGE is driving towards. not a given that we survive as a democracy.
unlabelledView post →We watched the movie “Argentina 1985” instead of the Super Bowl. It is a movie about how the civilian courts in Argentina put the military junta leaders on trial for the kidnappings, torture, and murder of 30,000 Argentinian civilians who were denied the right of a trial. Fascists don’t do trials.
unlabelledView post →I suspect this is actually completely wrongheaded and that the number of people who have Amazon Prime because it is the only way to watch 'Argentina, 1985' is basically zero. It is all loss, no leader. (Argentina, 1985 is a great film by the way.)
unlabelledView post →I just watched the movie Argentina, 1985 on the flight home yesterday (great movie) and realized that we need to spread more thick the realization that those who are standing next to Drumpf will be also standing in a court for crimes against humanity because "I was following orders" isn't a defense.
unlabelledView post →Got very emotional with Argentina, 1985 and I would have loved to like the rest of the movie as much as the sections that were pretty much 1 to 1 to the real trial. Great week for the movies, love da movies. #LastFourWatched

unlabelledView post →I really recommend the movie Argentina 1985 - a movie about the court case where Argentina convicted a bunch of people for crimes against humanity after reinstating rule of law
unlabelledView post →recommend watching the movie Argentina 1985 it captured this vibe super well

unlabelledView post →if you were, like me, deeply affected by the unfortunate relevance of I’m Still Here (2024)’s portrayal of survival and resistance under a fascist regime let me recommend Argentina, 1985 (2022) as another recent film about how citizens can overcome & seek justice for fascist crimes against humanity
unlabelledView post →For those of you in Scandinavia, Danish television #DR2 is showing the movie 'Argentina 1985' on Monday 10 March at 19:40CET. @theguardian.com called it "a forthright, muscular and potent movie". #Argentina #humanrights
unlabelledView post →Today I saw the acclaimed movie "Argentina 1985", what the director has achieved was fascinating. Basically, he gave the Argentine democratization process the place it deserved, in an extremely hostile environment, the courage of those who knew how to defend justice in the face of a sea of threats.
unlabelledView post →Hmmmm...where is Kristi Noem? I wait for the day she and the whole lot of this administration are standing before a judge for crimes against humanity. If you've never seen the movie Argentina, 1985, it's relevant.
unlabelledView post →Check out the movie Argentina 1985. True story: Prosecution of the Dictatorship's killers.
unlabelledView post →The film “Argentina, 1985,” portrays the prosecution of the leaders of the Argentine military junta for the brutal kidnappings, torture, murders, and disappearances committed during Argentina’s “Dirty War” of 1976-83. This gave me some hope, but first we must restore our democracy.
unlabelledView post →I assume this was a sarcastic compliment, but in any case Argentina 1985 is a fantastic movie—as funny as a movie about torture and disappearances can be.
unlabelledView post →🗓️ Today marks 40 years since the reading of the sentences against the members of the de facto military government that ruled Argentina during the dictatorship of the Proceso de Reorganización Nacional. Represented here in the movie Argentina 1985 www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQWk...
unlabelledView post →Watching the movie Argentina 1985, there will need to be a similar trial for justice on these crimes against humans.
unlabelledView post →I think I'm going to start dropping references and suggestions for people to watch the film, *Argentina, 1985* for no particular reason. (The reason is we will need to prosecute and punish people from Trump's administration)
unlabelledView post →Reminded AGAIN of Argentina 1985 (2022) (really useful film for me, under the circumstances). But prep for prosecution of the ringleaders didn't even start until, what, 7 years after the coup? Ppl forget how used to EDITED movie time we've all become. IRL is SOOO slow, even when you're winning. 😬
unlabelledView post →For a preview, I suggest you all watch the movie "Argentina 1985"
unlabelledView post →Im not gonna ask anyone to read, but since im a film student i recommend the movie "La Noche de los Lapices" (1986) by Hector Olivera, which retells the kidnapping of students. Or "Argentina 1985" (2022) which retells the story of the group of lawyers who prosecuted the military junta
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching ARGENTINA, 1985 (2022). Director: Santiago Mitre. Ricardo Darin, Peter Lanzani. When a bloody dictatorship falls, can justice be found in the newly formed Democratic legal system? Oscar nominated true story. #filmsky 📽🎥🎞🎬
unlabelledView post →you must see the film Argentina, 1985, about the prosecution of military brass for the Dirty War. it goes so hard. it also makes me so nostalgic. the first time my family lived there was only two years later in 87. and yes, people did smoke that much. it is not exaggerated.
unlabelledView post →Argentina 1985 a must watch movie!
unlabelledView post →I'm looking forward to checking it out. I went through a phase of watching those kind of movies almost a year ago, for obvious reasons. Argentina 1985 (which I don't think is related, despite similar names and topics) is a lot less interesting. Very much an 'Oscars' movie. Hence the nod, I guess.
unlabelledView post →This is a great essay. Also, I HIGHLY recommend the film "Argentina, 1985."
unlabelledView post →Not a fun read, but an instructive, beautifully written one: (Also, see critically acclaimed, award-winning film ARGENTINA, 1985.)
unlabelledView post →Just watched the film “Argentina, 1985.” I would encourage everyone to do so. Tragic and timely. Do not think “we are better.” We are not.
unlabelledView post →Have you seen the movie “Argentina,1985” on Prime? It’s a great movie about the trials of the military junta.
unlabelledView post →18. Argentina, 1985 (2022) I love and a research and justice movie. This was great. Strong recommend.
unlabelledView post →Lately, the film Argentina 1985 feels like a foreshadowing of USA 2035 or thereabouts.
unlabelledView post →#Argentina1985 is top class cinema. A very well made movie about a significant event in Argentina's history. Loved it! Available to watch on Amazon Prime.

unlabelledView post →If people have not yet seen the movie ARGENTINA, 1985 — (on prime) i hope they will soon. While its a dramatization based on actual events, its more information than i previously had and in my opinion, vital to understanding what‘s at stake right now in the US.
unlabelledView post →OMG, haven’t seen that one! Looks like the same actor as Argentina 1985, which is very good. Oh god, where to start with Director Hong indeed? 😂 My favorite is The Novelist’s Film, but I started with In Another Country (the first of three films he’s done with Isabelle Huppert). Kinda funny!
unlabelledView post →I saw that movie: I'm Still Here also Argentina, 1985
unlabelledView post →I've seen this movie: "I'm Still Here" "Argentina, 1985"

unlabelledView post →FWIW, #Argentina1985 is a really good film about the courageous civilian prosecutors who held the leaders of the horrific 80s military dictatorship to account. Great writing and performances. And encouraging to walk through a true, modern case of good prevailing after all. #movies #antifascism
unlabelledView post →Relevant and fantastic movie on Prime called Argentina, 1985. It’s about the trials of the military leaders who “disappeared “ citizens. Please watch it.
unlabelledView post →i would highly recommend Argentina 1985, Nine Queens and Wild Tales - this last one he has a smaller part but the entire movie is terrific and, well, wild.
unlabelledView post →Argentina 1985 review – rousingly-acted junta trial dramatisation This a great movie!! Especially important to give us hope that there can be democratic life after a period of fascist domination of a country. And a genuine story of heroisim! www.theguardian.com/film/2022/se...
unlabelledView post →There’s something afoot in the militia/military/LE world. A shadow military and it seems they want to create an environment of terror (bomb threats, etc.) to pave the way for Orangie to call for martial law. Then the rules no longer matter. See the film ‘Argentina, 1985.’
unlabelledView post →www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... On no. 5: "Learn from people who have lived under authoritarianism." I am teaching about the return to democracy after military-dictatorships and film. Re-watching Argentina 1985. Lots of good accessible cinema on this topic.
unlabelledView post →i assume you’ve seen the movie Argentina, 1985? i thought it was great
unlabelledView post →I haven't watched the first film, but did watch Argentina 1985...and found it a bit...Hollywood heroic? But I'm not a Latin Americanist.
unlabelledView post →shouldn't be a massive surprise for a film called Argentina, 1985, but the cigarette count in this film is astronomical, Get Carter levels
unlabelledView post →Every time I read an article like this, I find myself thinking the movie Argentina, 1985 is ever more relevant. Not a perfect film, but a great illustration of living & operating in a fascist and/or authoritarian government.
unlabelledView post →Finally watched Argentina 1985 and it was such a great film. Glad that there is interest in the dirty war, the dictatorship, and generally that period of time.

unlabelledView post →Just finished watching #argentina1985 about the trial of the fascist military junta that had recently been thrown out of power and had committed countless attrocities against leftists and centrist democratic folk (and I'll add where funded by the CIA via operation condor, the violent US and south american Federation of fascists.). Its a courtroom drama, This film is gut wrenching, it features (possibly dramatized) testimonies from victims, so content warning;- If you have trauma around sexual…
unlabelledView post →Just watched #Argentina1985. Wow. About a government and the attorneys that brought to court a military junta of fascist dictators that tortured, killed and disappeared thousands of people. A monumental enterprise, esp when most of them still had the support of the military and police. Very moving and inspiring film. Maybe US #AG can watch it and get inspired. #film #movies #Argentina

unlabelledView post →Ricardo Darín is on very good form here as the wily and determined Argentinian state prosecutor Julio Strassera who is charged with leading the investigation into the activities of many of the most senior members of the military junta that lead post-Perón Argentina. Murder, rape, torture are just the tip of the criminal iceberg as he tries to assemble witnesses that have the courage to stand up and be heard in the face of intimidation and threats. Meantime, Strassner and his deputy Ocampo…
