60 of 193 · most liked firstIt's such a good game up to the last 25% You won't finish this game. It cannot be finished its current state by any reasonable gamer. There are just too many problems. Which is a shame because the parts of the game that are good, are masterpiece-level good. That's the only reason I stuck around as long as I did. Most experienced gamers know that with 1 or maybe 2 technical/mechanical problems you can often work around them. In Arboria there are so many issues in so many different dimensions,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a lot going on here, but overall I just couldn't recommend it because of the grinding and some literal punishment mechanics. The theme is cool. The combat is alright. I adore the companion fairy that gets fatter and fatter as you collect coin and slims back down by vomiting it out between levels... The issue for me is that you are forced to replay levels a lot to get real progress. You can be pretty good at the game, but your gear level and quality is kinda capped. You have to acquire…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A visually unique game with decent variety and combat that suffers from needless repetition. Overall I'm having a good time but it's probably not for everyone. Note: there is no FOV slider so you should skip this game if you need one.+ Unique aesthetic: The art style of this game is one of the most unique I've come across. I felt like it added greatly to the feel of the world and the fun of playing. + Roguelite builds: there's a lot of options in how you build your character each run, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its an incredibly fun souls-like rogue-like with a satisfying progression system and lots of really neat elements. Why the Negative review then? because the lower into the dungeon you go, the more your system will bug out. After finally making it to the 19th floor after 80 hours of play, my game hit a state where the game was now unplayable. Im very dissappointed i wont be able to finish as i was looking forward to a newgame + or even ++. If they ever get around to optimizing the engine it will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the game for a while, I have to say for $2 this is not a bad pick up. Of course the game looks very off but the game itself has its ups. I seen a review that states there are a few enemy designs. The game is set up with four different areas with the each having about 4 designs but the game also has 5 different elements the enemies can be and this changes the abilities they will perform: For example an ice enemy might throw snow balls, a fire will spit fire, a bio will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: I can't give it praise for anything other than art style and MAYBE lore. Roguelite progression is boring and combat is just okay (later it turns tedious due to how spongy enemies get). Replayability isn't great. Before trusting positive ratings of this game keep in mind it takes 6-16 hours (6 on lucky run) to clear this game once (without NG+) and achievements show only 2% of people beat it. Only 0.6% beat New Game+ (story ends at new game++ clear). Most people don't know what they are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You'd better fix last boss health points, it is not okay to hit and dodge a simple patterns for 15-30 mins, i'm scared to think how much time it will take on NG+, looks like you guys didnt really test ur product from common player view and just went through segments. Personally i like the game a lot but im not a psycho to sit a half of hour and do the same 3 moves its not cool, hope you can fix it and announce it in patch then ill recommend ur game for sure.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this on sale for about 3€ so I actually can't complain. This game is fun to play, the core gameplay resembles a souls-like while the gameplay loop is meant to be a roguelite where you take out some currency from your runs and get upgrades for your next run. The issue and the reason why the game will not get a recommendation for now is the amount of grind that you need to put into this game. My first few runs were about an hour long each, I felt like I got pretty far and explored a lot. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first, I figured that the people who reviewed this and said this was their favorite roguelike game were just saying that to be nice, mostly since I had never even heard of it. Now, after playing a little over 24 hours since I got this game a few days ago, I can positively say that it is an amazing game, far beyond my wildest expectations. I have no idea how this game slipped through the cracks and avoided my wishlist/notice for so long, but I'm sure glad I found it eventually. The main…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The studio behind the game is dead. The link to their website (on the store page) takes you to some scam betting site. And the bugs from initial release are still present in the game (mouse clicks don't register 25% of the time) Concept is fun, but execution is poor, and the studio is dead. If you can get past the clunky animations and UI, and the fact that attacks don't register every time, it seems alright.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, because it's so visually unique and honestly kind of funny in a childish, gross kind of way. But after the twentieth or so dated references it kind of wears off, and you're left with a slow, sluggish, meandering game that just doesn't flow as well as it it feels like it should. You'll spend a lot of time per floor just meandering from one spot to the next looking for currency, dreading the sound of MORE enemies spawning. They're not fun to fight, they all…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a good game at all. The core loop of the game is totally broken... Teleporters are useless since if you use them you find yourself with terrible weapons and armor on higher level zones and you don't even get any Veri to power yourself up so you are basically forced to do all the levels every time you die for dozens of times until you get to unlock new ones which is boring and incredibly repetitive. Boss fights are badly made and with terrible hitboxes. There are so many roguelikes that do…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If it was like a normal action game and not slow, methodical souls-like one, then this game could have been much more enjoyable. I find the combat absolutely unrewarding and dull. All enemies are more or less the same with bigger enemies having more annoying abilities. Character movement is slow and clunky af. If you want to hit enemies, you have to lock-in on them (extremely unintuitive if you are surrounded by more than 2 enemies), otherwise your character will always hit moldy air 50% of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The core of this game is a pretty solid soulslike with a neat aesthetic. Everything else about the game ruins that. The writing is atrocious, you get to listen to bad jamaican accents doing a bad reimagining of norse mythology. The art is ugly as hell- the aesthetic is cool but its bargain bin PS2 game graphics ruin that. The gameplay is ruined by the metaprogression heavy roguelite structure. The enemies are not exciting enough to be interesting to fight in a second run, and it drags…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very underrated hidden gem and definitely one of the best roguelite games I've ever played. The game mechanics are fairly simple at surface: you go deeper one floor at a time while collecting currency (veri) and collecting better weapons and armor and buffs (mods) and usable items and "spells" (mutations) along the way and fight a boss after you've cleared five floors of each individual section (three floors for the last part). After you die you get to use your collected currency and there…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's a solid, funny, well made game. it's a bit glitchy at times and can be laggy, but over all? it's one of my favorite games! besides! it's pretty cheap. it's lore is great, it's gameplay is great, you should try it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: 7/10. Fun combat and customization, but poorly optimized and has fatal bugs. As much as I enjoy the game, I honestly can't recommend it in its current state with no support. The concept is solid and the combat is a lot of fun, even for someone like me who genuinely doesn't enjoy soulslikes. But there's too many fatal bugs and the optimization is too poor. By all accounts, the end game is virtually unplayable. If this were still being updated and it looked like there was a future for it,…

The content generation is wondrously intermixed and you always find mods to augment yourself, I say this having already played for 83 hours. I'm still unlocking new mods to progress further and the ability to create your own archetype is currently standing on its own. Another good point is the hidden lore in the game aided by the upfront lore. Easy purchase for the price and even…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I see a lot of people being upset that this game does not meet certain standards in regards to quality- I will counter that with saying that the experience itself of Arboria is very... true to itself. Your hardships are not even a fraction of what the sacrificial trolls go through, but you can still feel it. The unlocking of buildings serves as a fairly decent progression curve, altho I will admit it can be hard to have a good run in the beginning- keep trying and you will surely succeed.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game's got a lot of potential, but the combat is incredibly frustrating. You'll either be just out of range, or after landing a blow you'll be facing the wrong way, and turning and swinging your weapon reveals that you're still not pointed exactly right and you miss. Then you're struck by the enemy. Needs work!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game looks cool and has some ideas, but it's not fun. For 3 hours, I was fighting the same 4 enemies over and over, sometimes of a different color. Then I had a boring mini-boss, and the enemies finally looked different. However, the enemies didn't act different. You fought them so similarly to the first round that it wasn't notable. The correct tactic is to run away from everything, wait for an attack, and counterattack very patiently because nothing in the early game causes stagger. A slow…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if only they got the rights to make a bionicle game, it really feels like heavy bionicle inspiration went into this with the setting and combat mechanics the camera is bad and you can get stuck on geometry sometimes which sucks but its a fun game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR; extremely repetitive.. and extremely slow to progress.. and when it crashes (which happens all too often!), you lose all progress! when you select father for his 'boons'.. they are NOT boons.. they are curses! even the +25% to health is MINUS 25% to health and +15% to veri!! and DO NOT press the button (if it is a good yotun).. mean spirited and dodgy devs! the thing that annoyed me straight away, was when you first start - healing isnt explained! and considering that is pretty much…

unlabelledView post →I would recommend it in general. One gripe is HOW LONG THE RUNS ARE! That is one thing that was kinda a negative for me. The runs are hours long if you dont use the elevator but if you use the elevator you can be really undergeared. Had a few bugs that were a little annoying but at least one they had a fix which allows you to teleport to the nearest teleporter since I got stuck. Happened twice. I would still recommend it but warning about the hours and grind.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Criminally under-looked souls-like roguelite. Gameplay is immediately accessible (particularly to souls-like fans), the art design is unique and interesting, sound is great. Everything is very high quality, but the game's rewarding nature is it's primary strength. It really opens up to different gameplay styles as new items and weapons become available. For example, there's items that allow parrying so you can play it like Sekiro - there's projectile weapons so you play it like Remnant From…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly there is no other option to rate games. Only with thumbs up or down. I 1st gave it a downvote. Now change it to upvote. But can't really decide. This game has such an amazing concept and such creativity behind it. These are the kind of fresh air in the gaming market we all need. From the artstyle to the idea how you re-birth a new character after death. Through the concept what happens with your character when it dies, how the levels are tied together and how the upgrade and crafting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd recommend it because of the good ideas, but the downsides are the sluggish movement and the feeling that you're about to hit the enemy but a rock on the ground stops you, raising you slightly or preventing you from reaching the enemy altogether. I don't know why, but when I play it, I feel uneasy for some reason. However, the upsides are that I love the silly storyline, the voice acting, and how you choose a character with unique traits.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought and tried out Arboria because it was on sale and I found the art style and general presentation of the game to be pretty interesting. Sadly, the execution is a bit lackluster. The game is very, very repetitive, the runs last a very long time (from what I can tell) with barely any variation in enemies. After over an hour of playing, I was still in the same biome fighting the same enemies in the same run with only one small mini boss, which doesn't give me much motivation to keep playing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: Hidden Gem, 9.5 out of 10 if you enjoy modabble games. Maybe 6.5 out of 10 if you're not a fan of the aesthetics, but enjoy the roguelite aspects or the semi-soulslike combat. Worth the 2-10 dollars you can snag it at via bundle sites or sales and so on? Absolutely! Worth 20? If I weren't destitute, I'd say again, absolutely, as it's one of those games that has virtually limitless content, as long as a few content-creators are willing to engage with it, or you're willing to learn modding…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sometimes you run into one of those games where the recommendation system doesn't properly convey the nuance. This is definitely one of those times. Ultimately, I recommend Arboria because, despite its flaws, you will probably get enough enjoyment out of it to get your money's worth, especially if it's on sale. The combat is fun with enough enemies and attack patterns to stay interesting without being overwhelming, and the game rewards you for knowing when to quit while you're ahead.…

unlabelledView post →This game has been such a wonderful surprise and treat. The game is currently on sale for an absolute steal under $4. Great for people who like soulslike combat and roguelite structure and meta progress. It offers plenty of customization to play the game in your preferred way. The atmosphere has plenty of cartoon goofiness, but develops into something quite interesting and unexpected (though I don't want to give away too much). I'm still hooked and am going to keep playing for many hours to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is just a super nice lil rogue lite I have no real negatives for it, its got a kinda older game grungy look to it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat can be unresponsive and sluggish at times. Can also be a bit confusing at first. It reminds me if you took Dark Souls and combined it with Dead Cells. Combat needs work big time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an interesting and highly addictive game. The combat is a simplistic version of a Souls-like, but the gameplay is like that of a roguelite. There are tons of meta progression to unlock, and that's the primary gameplay loop and addictive factor. Also each new floor you progress through allows you to unlock a new ability based on the 3 stats. The impact isn't huge on your chosen playstyle, but it can add some interesting effects. Weapons are all mostly different, but some weapons are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Underrated. Deserves a lot more attention. It's a Souls-Like AND Rogue-Like ! I'll admit, I torrented this game at first. But I chose to buy it because it deserves support. And you should support the devs too. It truly deserves a LOT more attention.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →too anal. the game boasts that we get to pick up where the last yotun die. no we dont. we start over with twigs. what just to be 3 swings and a dead enemy now turns into 15 swings but on the last high level area we died in.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →got this game for 2 bucks. for that price, it's an insanely good game. for sticker price however, which is how i'm going to judge it, the game needs... a lot of work. it's good, yes, but there's a plethora of small details that need a touchup, complete rework, or something is entirely not present. one of those not present things is a handbook for the various mechanics surrounding... elements. pretty much every item can have an element. mutations have element "harmony" which i assume gives a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game...one of my favorite roguelites! Unfortunately there's a broken achievement and the devs move on, but other than that I had no issues.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game. Has a little bit of overlord feel to it. but with Crab champions mixed in. You fight get loot, die, get stronger, repeat. Has some comedy mixed in. If your looking for some hack and slash give this a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm pretty tolerant of games that are hard because they have semi-clunky controls, inconsistent controls however... holy **** man, I literally ran around in circles for a couple minutes because the attack button would not do anything while I was getting mobbed, other times the dodge button wouldn't work so you get hit with 3 mortar type shots, lock on will sometimes work from 2 rooms away other times you have your nose between their cheeks and it's just going "huh? what? who?" while you're…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: A unique third-person action roguelite with a fascinating setting. If you like the atmosphere and gameplay concept I can highly recommend it. Do be aware there’s some amount of grinding involved. Arboria is without a doubt the most memorable game I picked up last year. The setting is unique and the atmosphere is remarkable. I don’t know what they were smoking when they designed this world and its characters, but it must have been some good stuff! What immediately grabbed me was the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game design flaws are flagrant and numerous and are immediately apparent. The game introduces you to game mechanics in the tutorial and then once you get past the tutorial most of those mechanics are now locked and gated pending an indeterminate amount of (pointless and unfun) grinding. To me this is an egregious design flaw. Never should have introduced features in a tutorial that are immediately taken away once the game starts proper. This is then compounded by the fact that the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not that bad of a game, the main problem i have with it though is it wont let you attack sometimes and the pop culture cringe stuff. Other then those, it follows its drug dealer kinda theme pretty well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rogue Troll Souls is good
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game that is "unsupported" on the Steam Deck, it works pretty darn well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →✔ decent combat for this genre ✘ extremely repetitive, each run for me started the same and was essentially the same ✘ meta progression seems like a massive grind with maximum inventory/loot you can get from every level on top of that ✘ started somehow lagging after a while - my inputs were being randomly ignored (also in other windows - until I exited the game) ✘ life-based difficulty - level was generated with a lot of health restoring shrines on the level? It will be a breeze. no? Then you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very enjoyable experience if you approach it like a Simple Series title, and play with a controller. Keyboard and mouse just doesn't cut it. There are a few rough edges, but the difficulty feels just right. One of those games where the bad qualities just add up to the charm. Then again, no matter how much you like the game, you'll be screaming and cursing because you got stuck on some object and died during battle, losing a character you thought was THE ONE. Also, I hate that you can't run…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally got a copy of Arboria and got it to the table recently for a solo play. Lovely game. Feels very satisfying when a big combo comes together. Can't wait to play it with more people and see how a crowded board pushes those tracks around. And can't wait to play more from Dani Garcia.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →poorly optimized game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game plays like it was written and conceptualized by a stoner in high school. Expect gratingly low-quality humor, poorly thought out lore, and a storyline that's so obvious I'm pretty sure I know the ending after beating one boss. As for playstyle, most enemies are extremely easy one-on-one and a lot are easy in groups, but the actual speed of moving through levels is horrible. Mods (upgrades you get each level) are super lackluster, synergies are kind of hard to set up, and while I can't…
