unlabelledView post →Finally caught up with WOLF MAN today & I liked it overall. I think the biggest issue is that the title conjures up certain notions & this movie was a different beast altogether, so adjusting my expectations helped. Would play well alongside ANTLERS too (another similar film that I also dug).

unlabelledView post →I think that's not the point, but rather him choosing a bad coping mechanism and her realizing she isn't equipped to help someone else when she's still in her own damage. Unlike a similar concept in Antlers, a film whose thesis is "if you've been abused, you need to die or else you'll abuse others"
unlabelledView post →Cobweb (2023) was a decent little movie, perfect for fall vibes. Would pair well with Antlers for a meddling-teacher double feature. Although, it felt like Lizzy Caplan was in a different movie from everyone else

unlabelledView post →Ngl, the antlered man from the film Antlers is my favorite wendigo design out of literally all of them. Sure it’s not entirely accurate to the folk lore, but it looks so fucking cool dude.

unlabelledView post →I feel like if you're going to make a horror story about something from another culture, have the main characters actually be linked to that. Great example of this done RIGHT is the book "The Only Good Indian". While the WORST example is the movie "Antlers" (native character is just exposition)

unlabelledView post →203. Antlers (2021) . Making it onto the list of my most dissapointing movies ive seen, especially in the horror movie category. Has a decent story with great land shots but those are the only reall good things, characters are flat, didnt explain much and the last act was genuinally bad. . 4.5/10

unlabelledView post →A movie that came to mind when watching this was Antlers. Both horror movies with familial abuse themes, but Antlers I think handled those themes more effectively, particularly with the father having some visibly negative traits & the body horror element of his transformation being fairly visceral.

I asked them to stop talking, not much changed, and after the movie ended, they followed me to the bathroom. Then the parking lot. I had to call the cops to get them to leave me alone.

neutral · AI labelView post →Antlers was a pretty big disappointment. The acting was lackluster, Keri Russell did okay, but I felt that Jesse Plemons was going through the motions delivering a poor performance. For a horror movie, this did not really feel scary at all. There is some cool characters designs during the transformation but the creature was pretty bad due to the heavy use of CGI. For a rated R film, there was not a lot of gore. I felt a lot of the kills were cut short or done off camera. This works when tension…
negative · AI labelView post →Good story, good cast. It's enjoyable. 'Antlers' sets the right tone throughout and delivers in serving up a satisfactorily creepy flick. Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons and youngster Jeremy T. Thomas all give strong performances, they make for an interesting trifecta to watch - even if they aren't as fully fleshed out ss they could've been. The horror aspects are done really well, as expected with Guillermo del Toro involved behind the scenes along with director Scott Cooper & Co. I also love…
positive · AI labelView post →For the first half hour, this isn't that bad. A couple of men stripping an old mine hear some curious noises, next thing we are in a school with a young "Lucas" (Jeremy T. Thomas) seemingly distracted, a little dishevelled and only when his teacher "Julia" (Keri Russell) decides to investigate, do we realise that what came out of that mine was a hell of a lot more rapacious than what went into it... Sadly, though, the rest of it all quickly becomes a bit too routine and the ending though quite…

With the help of experienced producers, Scott Cooper is able to generate a rich atmosphere and offer an intriguing monster, blending practical effects with minimal CGI perfectly, despite the low budget. Accompanied by gorgeous…
