Because it didn't sell. Because, apparently, due to the different name, people have no idea that this is Thief Simulator 2. "But TS2 exists!" It does, and it sold as well as TS1. But it was actually developed from the ground up by a completely unrelated team, whereas TS1 and AT80 have the same developers and are built on the same…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →American Theft 80s: Breaking and Splintering TL;DR I wanted to like this game, but frustrating AI and interactions meant ultimately it wasn’t one I would finish, or recommend anyone else play. American Theft 80s has some fun moments. Determining what to steal is fun. Do I take the Atari joystick, or a pocket calculator? Ooh, is that a skateboard? I should grab it! Some items you must carry, like TVs or microwaves. You start with limited space but will gain more as you progress. A fun trick…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a game, it's a piece of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥! Cars and pedestrians materialize out of thin air, the game itself freezes at launch, textures lag, and there is no optimization. NPCs communicate with gestures without words (voice acting just disappears). How could such a thing be released and sold for money? This game is trash! She belongs in a landfill. The developer's attitude towards gamers is just piggy. It's just an unfinished piece of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ code. I regret the money I spent.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually like American Theft 80s far better than Thief Simulator because American Theft 80s: -Is open world (there's loading stutters on transition but it's still a lot nicer than the menu mechanics of Thief Simulator) -Progression is a lot nicer because everything is baked in and balanced into one experience rather than spread out among DLCs. -Is a lot more natural and smoother in terms of missions, jobs, and rewards. -Has a better story. -Better vehicle driving modeling (cars do weird stuff…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"American Theft 80s" is a love letter to the '80s – neon colors, VHS vibes, and plenty of criminal energy included. Just like the '80s were in the States. You take on the role of a small-time low life junkie, or more precisely, a burglar, who works his way up step by step by spying on houses, bypassing alarm systems, and taking anything that isn't nailed down. Always with style, of course… or at least with plenty of guts. There are two game modes to choose from: Story Mode and Sandbox Mode. In…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thought it would be funny. It wasn´t. Watching the neighbourhood for an real life hour while eating my dinner, then getting beat down with a stick by the homeowner. Story is boring, but i didn´t get too far into it. Bought the game mainly cause of the 80s. Didn´t find much 80s here. Been there, know how the 80s looked liked. This here, could be anywhere today in a backyard poor neighbourhood. Old TVs and Cassettes is not 80s enough. It´s just a (very) small village somewhere up in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was advertised to me as the better Thief Simulator. What I received was an experience just as lackluster, with some slight improvements. It's your average, cheaply made simulator game. Little voice acting, clunky animations, and bland presentation overall. The optimization is dreadful. Aside from long loading screens, my PC turns into a jet engine as it tries to process the mediocre open world. The stealth is either hit or miss with how absurdly sensitive detection is. Halfway through the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: Thief Sim(TS) is way better than this... I had a good time playing Thief Simulator and had high expectations about this 80s, but got frustrated by its low general quality. I got the impression that it was a poorly made or poorly finished game. I didn't feel like in the 80s, except by all vintage crap (tapes and VCRs) we have to rob. Pros+: Hard to point out something good, specially compared to TS. It's similar to TS ("stealing" mechanics) and there's a copy of a DMC DeLorean, called…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thief Simulator isn't known for it's smooth gameplay, but this is something else. This game, to me, does not feel like a finished product. The movement feels clunky. Both for the character and NPCs walking about. The majority of NPCs never leave their house in a game where you're breaking into places.(work? Groceries? Socializing?) Detection seems inconsistent at best. Too punishing in the majority of situations. Controls weren't that well explained. Sure, don't need to be held by the hand all…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wanted to like this game due to the 80's setting but my lord this game is just awful. Even if it went on sale I personally wouldn't recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →★★★★☆ – Classic Thief Fun in an 80s Skin Playtime: 17 hours What I liked: If you’ve played Thief Simulator, you’ll feel right at home here. The gameplay is pretty much the same — sneaking into houses, picking locks, stealing everything that’s not bolted down, and slowly upgrading your tools and skills. The 80s theme gives it a cool nostalgic touch with old-school cars, music, and visuals that fit perfectly. I had a good time grinding achievements; it’s surprisingly relaxing and addictive…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very poorly made game, very similar to Thief Simulator 2, but a lot worse. Even at its low price, it's too expensive for its quality.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly, it's technically broken. It needs more than a minute (!) to load a save, freezing the whole (high end!) computer in the meanwhile. If you want to switch to another window, everything freezes, but then for even longer. I'm astonished that the programmers were able to publish such an unfinished and buggy game and not fix it ever since. Killing it in task manager takes several minutes, too!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yoink Intensifies Key features Multiple breaking in tools, Broken mechanics, Stealing is fun! Overwhelming fun Joyful moments => throwing heavy TVs, speakers, computers over fences because you can't jump with them. Mindlessly grabbing all (mostly cheap) items in sight. Eventually figuring out NPCs routine and clearing out their building. Angry moments => being spotted from far-afar (!), being heard from a great distance. Guards can see you with the back of their heads. -_-…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thief Simulator from Temu
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My review is entirely based on having played Thief Simulator and the being tempted to buy this, albeit in the sale. This adds nothing to the experience. The mechanics are just as clunky and the 80's setting is novelty at best. I tried to be interested enough to follow the mission chain, but it just felt like doing the first game over again with nothing new. I particularly disliked the ridiculous habits of the residents and the fact that I could get info by paying for it or stealing letters. I'm…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i heard that this was the developer of thief simulator and that people were excited about it, so i was hoping that this second game would attempt to fix the jankiness and general unpleasantness of the first game. unfortunately this did not happen, this game and its interface are deeply unpleasant to interact with, and the whole game still has that faux-realism "asset store-chiq" look to it that isn't even charming-ugly like an old game. to be fair, whatever engine this is seems like a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you loved the original Theif Sim 1 and 2, then you're in for disappointment with this one. The actions are just long compared to the others, and just meh... the only decent thing is you can drive for longer periods...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Low budget, janky, stock asset kind of game but for 90% off you get your moneys worth for an hour or two.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great to kill time. You have to think, but not too hard about how you can steal items. The game is relatively easy to figure out and decently fun. I just realized I've been playing for 6 hours lol. I like it a lot.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried to play through it, but its way too buggy and since you can only save at certain locations they are hard to overlook. Not worth your time when you lose hours of progress by clipping through the ground or out of hiding spots during a chase. I'd come back and try again if they ever release any bug fixes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →im new to computer gaming. this game is fun, the voice acting is funny, and i love the retro feel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The whole thing just feels really repetitive starting out in the sandbox mode and the story mode is boring. overall I'd give it a 3/10. kept me engaged for maybe 3 hours of total play time before I finally just had enough
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cheap made game with clunky controls. Refund only. Not worth even on a sale
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A captivating gameplay loop, where despite being pretty basic and done better elsewhere, was still very satisfactory to do over and over. The early game may be a bit challenging, but progression eventually becomes steady enough afterwards which makes you still feel challenged enough to want to continue to the next unlock to make you an even better and silent thief.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is too buggy to play, i played thief simulator and it was good. i have 22hrs in this and i got stopped on one of my saves because an item i was supposed to steal would not load. posted on the community page havent heard anything yet. i thought maybe it was an old save and uninstalled reinstalled and started a new game. now i cant progress because the game recognize i picked up the item i was supposed to steal and it wont progress. uninstalling and maybe ill check back in a year or two but…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Compared to Thief Simulator 1 and Thief Simulator 2, this game has three core problems. 1. Bugs, glitches, tech. Of the three thief games in the series, this one is by far the glitchiest. Most of it is caused by interactions with the environment such as climbing but there are times when I will phase through a ceiling or there will be pop-ins caused from the loading triggers being too close to a destination. The worst one I've encountered is a story required heavy item going berserk and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took everything that was wrong with Thief Simulator and somehow made it worse. Most NPC's are shut-ins who never leave their homes, completely erratic behavior, and superhuman detection - even on the lower difficulty. Limited things to steal, hardly any storage space, tools break too easily and cost money to repair or replace... Nothing is worth the time and effort. I want to like this game because I like the idea, but it's simply not fun to play because it's unbalanced and broken.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just another streamer bait game, honest to God when I saw people play this I thought it was gonna be different. I thought it was actually gonna be competent and here I am sorely mistaken, all the thief simulator games are just utter trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love stealing from people
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I liked this better than Thief Simulator 1.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More or less a game to do some burglary. It is yanky as hell, but it is fluid. Do not expect so much in a sense this is also another simulator game of robbery, but with its name. It looks like this videogame was about to have more development, but they quit it at some point.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get Thief Simulator 1 or 2. This game isn't as fun as those two.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool vibe and some interesting stuff but overall pretty frustrating. Controls aren't great for something where you often need to act quickly. You have no way to defend yourself except slowing them for 1-2 seconds if you have enough stamina and you react fast enough when they get you. Doors always close and lock themselves automatically in your face. Some lady spotted me, fled and called the cops. After the cops searched the place and left, she came back and when she found an open door there was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thief Simulator but in the 80's, it's like a dream :) I did encounter a couple bugs but reloading fixed everything, nothing that stopped me from having fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a semi decent thief sim remake, just be prepared for its annoying problems when you play it. The game's got a lot of issues (like stealth being in and out of existance), but I just can't be bothyered to go over all of them.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wouldn't say this massively screams 80s (besides the odd items you steal) however I've enjoyed the thief sims and didn't know about this one. If you enjoy those and have a crime spree itch. This is worth a go. When on offer that is!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great, addictive game. Similar to Thief Simulator in many ways.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Performance issues on Linux, possibly on Windows too, but I'm not sure about that. Reddit reports have come from both NVIDIA and AMD users. Hope they fix it soon, would love to play the game..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Holy shi I love this game. It's one of those games that you initially ignore but once you play it, you kinda get sucked in. My money was spent right.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →American Theft 80s looked like a crappy sim waiting to happen, then it kicked open a shag-carpeted door and turned out to be a mixtape of GTA, Assassin’s Creed, Hitman, Splinter Cell, and every stealth classic you rented from yesteryear and have nostalgia for. It’s a shameless ode, for sure, with jank that squeaks when you crouch and a story as deep as a kiddie pool, but the actual sneaking is surprisingly decent. The toolset clicks, the routine of casing houses and timing routes feels…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, worth the insanely low 2 dollar sale price
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first it feels decent. It even has a sense of appeal as it levels you up moderately quick at the beginning. But something felt shallow. The dialogue was a huge clue and then just the controls began to felt tossed together. I dont know. It has its moments but when there are other thief sim games out there that capture a most authentic feel to this genre, it is hard to justify the cost for this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you like the thief simulator games, you'll like this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i like this game alot better than thief. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than Thief Simulator 2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Massive improvement from the first game, great environments and a really good time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quests are still extremely buggy. I played the game a while ago but stopped because of these issues. Now, in my new playthrough, I’ve already encountered 3 buggy quests where the item I picked up didn’t count towards the quest objective. Since I hadn’t manually saved in between, I lost around 2 hours of playtime each time. Beside the searching for the item, which was already in my inventory, game restarts and game file repairs. After the third buggy quest, I decided to uninstall the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are some bugs in the game, and sometimes it takes more than the necessary time to interact with an object, which can get you busted. Time is of the essence; however, I think this has a better storyline than Thief. One guy is directing you what to do in Thief. In this game, you deal with a number of seedy characters. They are interesting, neighborhoods look different, and no shortage of a variety of side jobs. In Thief, all the neighborhoods, houses (except size), and characters have the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is like thief simulator but with connected town that make it feel like player can roam freely. But the sandbox mode is harder, no schedule for tenant and no save. Thiefing the house in blind with sandbox
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok so both the store owner AND the clerk are there working 24/7... makes sense...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like this game but the glitches and outright sloppiness of the overall game I just can't enjoy it. The story mode gets to a point where you need the auto lock to get into a home. But the auto lock doesn't become available until further down the story so you're stuck. This kind of game planning is shoddy at best. Lots of characters without voices. And it doesn't even feel like the 80's at all. Don't bother getting this game in my opinion.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →even better than Thief Simulator itself
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm shocked by how good and smooth this game performs, and on sale for several dollars is nuts. Yes its dated, and the game has load time issues but overall interesting and fun. Thumbs UP! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I expected a lot more out of this game it was fun for a few hours and after that you can see developers just stopped putting effort into creating good content for the game I guess it's all about passing two hours mark of no refund because mid and late game just garbage
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice game and fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The original Thief Simulator from Noble Muffins is significantly better. The game fails in many aspects. The quests are not well explained, the AI is frustratingly stupid, and there are numerous bugs. I encountered a game-breaking bug during the Jewelry Time quest, and nothing worked to solve it. I tried reloading my saves, but I got the same results. I even searched forums for solutions but found none that worked. I wanted to like this game, but I wouldn’t finish it or recommend anyone else…
