60 of 204 · most liked firstI really wanted to love this game. The beautiful pixel art and the humorous beer-brewing premise lured me right in. Unfortunately, I should have read the negative reviews more carefully, because I can now +1 everything they warned about. If your idea of a fun management game is watching timers tick down while you micro-manage dirt and refill candles, this might be for you. If you actually want to manage a business, prepare to be frustrated. What I Liked The Aesthetics: The pixel graphics are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is almost amazing. It is so close to being a great game but the very few minor things it lacks actually makes this an agonizing experience. Theres no automation for fermentine (worker) management, meaning when one of your workers are depressed from researching or brewers are tired of making the same recipe, you have NO WAY to tell unless you manually click on them and see their statuses. Not only that but when it comes to brewers you can't even see the last ale they brewed which also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely repetitive, very linear and not really entertaining. There's a lot of charm and potential here, but it's just a thin layer of pixels and music on top of a tedium simulator. All of the systems in the game (things like brewing, aging, worker behavior, shipping, and the economy) are tuned to the breaking point, probably because the devs thought it would create excitement, but it's just annoying. Other parts of this game just make no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense, like they way one day/night cycle spans…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Torn on this because there's great stuff in this game. But it seems like you're constantly fighting to stay in the green, saving any money is difficult outside of forecasting your income and expenditures vs. labor costs... I don't know it feels way too much like real life. Historically, monasteries and abbeys became these sort of self-sustaining and community-oriented institutions. Then, they became a tiered labor system with recruits being a lower laboring class and upper-level monks being…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 3 hours of into the game and I am not sure if I finished the tutorial or not, I want to warn new buyers. I've should have read the negative reviews more carfully, and I can +1 the have to say. The game lures with its very nice pixel graphic and the topic of "beer", and I agree this is pretty funny and the graphics are nicely done. However, the gameplay is soooooo slow. Maybe it is me, that I am still stuck in some tutorial, as so many things are still locked, but I do not know how to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would only recommend if heavily discounted. It's a good game for a while, it has some interesting mechanics, but you don't see anything new after like 4hrs of gameplay. The gameplay is extremely repetitive after that and it just makes it hard to follow through with finishing a run.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The pixel art looks really nice. The medieval monastery atmosphere is calm and cozy and the idea of monks brewing beer is very creative and fun. But after playing for a while the gameplay starts to feel repetitive. You also end up managing too many small things and when the abbey gets bigger it becomes a bit annoying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a homebrewer. I make All Grain beers/ ales and have a couple of awards for some of my stuff. That being said, I can see the effort that went into making the recipe system that is the backbone of this game. Color me moderately impressed. This game is addictive! be warned that on 3 occasions so far, I've looked at at he clock when I got to a "good stopping point" only to realize it is crazy late and I should have been in bed hours ago. Fair warning if you have job or school commitments…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's possible the late game could be rewarding, but I was stuck in a tedious grind just trying to complete the first act. Your freedom is extremely limited and most of the tasks weren't rewarding when finally accomplished. Worst of all, there was no sign of GOD anywhere in the MONASTERY... not even a wall cross decoration or something...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's one of the better time-wasting simulators, still a time-wasting simulator. Charming presentation but ultra repetetive with marginal progression. The UI at times is very counter intuitive. Clicking through small menu icons to upgrade rooms is very clanky. The visual representation of what you are brewing where for what purpose is limited to some small icons at the top of the screen. When brewing 20 different ales, i'ts very easy to lose track. There's no breaking down of what…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly good. The whole "beer theme" is well used to create different mecanic that allow and force you to create different beer for different reason like : - expensive dedicated recipes for competition - min max a recipe to take advantage of seasonal pricing - special orders of course -cheap or long storage beer for your monk - fast or long conservation beers and all of that of each different style of beers. Cool game but i dont like beer tho
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to give it a positive review, but it has too many things that get it to neutral. The negative comes from too much repetition, and min maxing. I spent 12 hours playing this game and felt like I got no where. Progression was so slow, it's a slag. Trying to earn money and managing it is very difficult. They said this game was in the casual category, and it's not. You can basically min max the brews which is a HUGE turn off. You really can't make interesting brews that sell better than the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Becomes repetitive pretty fast as there is only one aspect to the gameplay. Very difficult to properly manage your finances
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Found the gameplay loop very boring. I know I didn't play much but even the first hour is mostly consisting of waiting around for timers to finish (research / brew / sleep / etc.). Not engaging start at all, and frankly I have better things to do with my very limited time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay. The beer system needs reward aging more as it does laagering. The last achievement is just a unnecessary time sink, especially without automation. How I suggest they do automation is allow a certain amount of breweries to be set under management of the Church and the ability to choose how much beer to maintain at a certain locations or to auto accept and complete ale orders. You can have up to ten so I suggest four, so it doesn't completely mitigate gameplay. For late game there…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cute game, enjoyable for a few hours. (Don't look at my gameplay hours, I leave my games open and walk away.) I would recommend this game for $7.99 (because that's probably how much I bought it for in early access) and while it's possible I've missed something, I haven't seen any drastic change since the full release. Interesting and unique perspective with some cool mechanics around brewing that straddles finnicky to fun. I love games where I passively learn about something in the real…

unlabelledView post →Happy to be changing the recommendation to yes after the devs worked with me through troubleshooting problems. 2 thumbs to the sky.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Entertaining and well balanced. Between the selection of timed goals that pop up routinely and game-progression goals, the game never feels boring or too routine. Hitting goals doesn't feel stressful or pressured either. Enough of a variety of stuff to do that it's easy to play for a multi-hour stretch without getting bored.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a great management game, light-hearted and just the proper amount of complex. Can't wait to see more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →D+ game in its current state. Mechanically its sound, it works, and its a game with a good price. The aesthetics are a real saving grace but the gameplay loop doesn't hold up after about 6-8 hours and then you realize the game will run for a good 20+. Its an ironic complaint to have but there's too much beer in a game about brewing and not enough other things. Abbey Expansion is largely superfluous to the games progression. I've kept the bandits at bay since the option became available.…

unlabelledView post →Really cool indie management game with lovely art and a funny setting. Making recipes and brewing beer is fun at first, but the gameplay lacks variety after a while. It gets pretty repetitive near the end and it will benefit from some QOL automation for the grindy tasks. Still a fun experience, just a bit tedious in the later stages.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Demo was a lot fun. The main game is not.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games that exposes the flaws in the thumbs up/down system. I'd split this one right down the middle. If I got this for $3 or $4, I'd recommend, but it's so on the fence that with anything but a steep sale, I just can't recommend. There's nothing new after 5 or 6 hours. I left my game open for a long time because I couldn't be bothered to come back to it with how hard the gameplay falls off. I'm giving this a very slight thumbs up, only because the art is lovely and it's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would like to see better detalized stats and automations. For now more you grow — more you suffer drown in details
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Barley Know'er, Bock of the Walk, Situation Critical (what else would you name a Platinum Blonde ale?) - many late nights cackling at the absurd names of ales. What a great game! Thank you!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a solid 6/10. Well crafted, cute, full of soul, but way too quickly repetitive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the perfect amount of difficult for me as a casual gamer, not too difficult and not too easy, just right. Ten hours so far and haven't encountered any bugs or problems yet, it seems pretty solid. I'm on stage II of the monastary. I think the only thing I'd wish for is a setting that fast forwards through the night and then resumes to normal speed in the day.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although it says “playable” on steam deck, it’s nearly impossible to play due to the font size being way too small and impossible to adjust in the settings. Such a shame
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a fun idea, has a nice relaxed vibe but the gameplay cen get a bit dragged out with some stopgaps that kill the flow. It is on the easy side and the UI improvements patched into the game make the experience less disorienting than what the launch was.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. It keeps me addicted, cant stop playing it! Im a smoker, and I wont even get up to go smoke a cig, because its sooo addicting!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked the concept but the gameplay is just tedious. Nothing is automated, you can't queue actions so it's just micro management. Maybe it gets better, but I think almost three hours is too long to wait for it to stop being tedious
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, relaxing and nice game! Becomes a bit repetitive towards the end, but all in all a good game. Must have for beer enthousiasts.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tedious and grindy with barely any interaction from the player besides chores like filling up lights and cleaning... You barely turn a profit on anything you sell so it takes hours and hours to progress even buying a single piece of furniture, all the while you sit there holding F5. I'd rather just press Alt + F4 thanks. Sadly, I was stupid enough to try and give it a chance; ending up overplaying past the refund window by accident so cannot refund now :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When the trailer referenced the way medieval people used base 12 (referencing the brewers' "dozens and dozens" of years of experience) as opposed to how we would say "decades" today (due to the advent of the metric system), I knew I'd be hooked. And I was right, this game is fun!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just started, I planned just checking out for maybe an hour, but past 4 am now, I'm over 5 hours of play and I'm sad I have to stop to sleep some :(
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fairly decent little Lite resource/time managment game with the recipe system for brewing. Solid game for the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was really fun! I enjoyed my time with it. I needed to do minimal research despite this game having quite a few puzzle-ing aspects when it came to making recipes for certain needs. I felt like the progression of research could have been more of a grind, and the competitions could have had more of a guide for the players - giving hints such as decorating the library could have helped me a lot early on.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Misbalanced tech tree for the length of the game + weird time-gate-esque mechanics with a max speed that's far too slow makes the second half of this game a dreadful slog.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would really like to like this game and the graphics are very nice and it's got some okay humor, but the brewingsystem is just not for me. The creation of recipes is painful because you have to start over and over if certain characters are not available, the brewing out come and pricing is not transparent enough and it over all feels more like work then fun. I would wish for a better interface or system that shows the data better so decisions would be clearer to make. I know that it wont be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very chill management sim full on drunken monks. Beer/10 recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic management game in the purest sense. Has a great ambience and cute animation and the variety of tasks and town demand(s) interspersed with regular buffs/tasks/quests etc. Very engaging. Definitely an essential part of any collection of games, especially if focused more on single player management experiences.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun little game to play for a few days. I did get all achivements and it was a little bit repetative to brew that much ale.... but other than that the game looks good and does what u want it to do. It is a good management simulator and I highly recommend u try it out :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute genius. I was looking for a crafting game that let me express creativity while being straight-forward. I was thinking about a cooking game, but this brewing-simulator is exactly what I needed. I don't drink alcohol but I had so much fun seing all my little monks and nuns drinking while working and winning beer competitions!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cozy small game, very pleasant, not so difficult
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very easy to lose yourself in and sink a lot of time into making delicious ales
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish my employer provided me with ale at work, cause I'm definitely sad when I have to deal with it sober, yet they don't care. Keep your employees tipsy and they'll do everything you say. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sideways thumb. The game is fairly lighthearted and kinda funny and chill, but how you actually progress is unclear. I like the brewing system, but especially in the early game I found myself having completed the first tech tree, pumping the same 2-3 beers into 1-2 towns until they literally wouldn't buy it anymore because the game doesn't tell you that you need to save up florins to expand your monastery.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game -- very relaxed and cozy -- lategame gets a bit repetitive
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game to relax: wonderful art style, solid game loop, nice mechanics, but may become a bit repetitive in the end. On a side note: ♥♥♥♥ the third guy on the beer contest board. It's always the third guy that screws me out of the first place.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the concept of the game but it felt like you hit a wall pretty early, and there's no real way to work around it in the early stages. The game revolves around the same couple of simple, manual tasks repeated over and over again. It's not clear if it gets more interesting later down the tech tree, in part because you can't see the whole thing right away, and also because you're pretty limited in how the game lets you navigate it. You manually choose how much of each ale to ship to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addictively fun and I love the little sprite animations
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This must be the origin story of a specific country associated with beer … I randomly saw this game in a vid and loved the gorgeous design. Pixelart and cute is always right up my alley and the game did not disappoint (I liked it!), even though it got a little bit repetitive, especially if you like to get all achievements. 2 or 3 more mechanics or unique events that interrupt the relaxing gameplay (maybe forcing you to play very different) would really help a lot, I think. There are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While it's possible that the game gets better after a bit, but the first 20 mins or so are so heavily railroaded and tutorialsed that it feels like I am not even playing a game.. just a linear progression of events
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was a way to give a middle ground recommendation because that's where I would put this. It's not terrible but it's honestly not that good. The tutorial is alright, for a tycoon game i've played better ones. I think the concept is interesting and can be fun but the current model is not worth full price. I had more fun playing fallout's tycoon game and that was free. Maybe this game could turn out better if you had a better tutorial or cleaner UI, the beer brewing and research is…
