Middleage me loves the stacked cast, the jokes, and above all the tension between Jang Uk & Mu-deok. You all were right: this IS #JungSoMin ‘s best kdrama.
positive · AI labelView post →My first kdrama was Alchemy of Souls. It's only been 2 1/2 yrs, but I've been devouring them ever since. I'm wondering which show/shows got other people hooked? #kdrama
neutral · AI labelView post →You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you? (Jang Uk from Netflix’ Alchemy of Souls). I’ll be fine!

positive · AI labelView post →#ADramaLunies2025 February 7: most memorable character development The Crown Prince in the #kdrama #AlchemyOfSouls, across both seasons. He is in a unique position, with his role and title at risk, evil doers trying to control the palace, and somehow he finds his own way through. With the help of a turtle.

neutral · AI labelView post →If you're a fan of The Owl House and you really want to check out some other Korean Fantasy TV Shows, I would recommend that you definitely watch Alchemy of Souls, as it's such an interesting Korean Fantasy TV Show that also involves a lot of magic spells and wizardry and it has mystical lore.

neutral · AI labelView post →End of the Year Drama Challenge Day 12: a platonic relationship you loved The Crown Prince and his turtle from the kdrama Alchemy of Souls. The whole story line with the turtle was so good. The Prince as a character was my favorite of the whole series, especially his character growth in season 2.
positive · AI labelView post →Started watching The Uncanny Counter because Yoo Jun-Sang was so good as Park Jin in Alchemy of Souls, and I knew that Yoo In-Soo was in it as well, and I wanted to see the Park Jin/Park Dang-Gu dynamic in a different show. I reach episode four and bugger me if Lee Do-Kyung isn't in it as well!
neutral · AI labelView post →Finished Alchemy of Souls. Honestly, I think Part 2 leaned a bit too far into "here's a flashback to show why this just happened or why the ending of the last episode wasn't actually what it was portrayed as", and there seemed a major inconsistency with one of the main character traits of the king-
neutral · AI labelView post →Update: I finished Dark series on Netflix. It's awesome. \o/ Adding it to my all time favorite top 10 TV Shows (which excludes anime). It's up there with Alchemy of Souls, Arcane & ATLA/Legend of Korra. Such a great concept, deep and compelling characters. Everything fits together perfectly. ^-^
neutral · AI labelView post →Drama Recs Challenge Day 18: Must-Watch Fantasy Not really being into the fantasy genre in kdrama-land I'm going to be lazy today and just go with, you guessed it: Alchemy of Souls - Entertaining, could fit into the "all the tropes" category, funny. It's also forever staring at you on the Netflix home screen if the algo gets a whif of kdrama interest :blobcatgiggle: #AlchemyOfSouls #kdrama #DramaRecsChallenge

They did a good job in balancing funny, angst, and heart fluttering. The actors also delivered 👏 #DramaRecsChallenge #kdrama #Cdramas #Asiandramas

neutral · AI labelView post →I have been watching #AlchemyOfSouls over the last weeks (I am up to ep 17), and it’s absolutely fabulous, with a great mix of action, magic, suspense, and mystery. 👍 I just have one curiosity. There are various specific words in dialogues, such as “Gwanju”, “Danju”, “Gwigu”, etc. Do these words have a real meaning in Korean? Or are they just cute/cool words? 🤔 #Kdrama
positive · AI labelView post →One of which was 'Queen of tears' which was a good ensemble show too. Modern day rich girl/poor boy story. Shame you don't fancy fantasy, as 'Alchemy of Souls' was awesome, all 30 episodes of it. Gorgeous cinematography and costumes... but magic and sorcery, so...
positive · AI labelView post →I highly recommend watching Alchemy of Souls on Netflix. It has romance, comedy, action, the sets and costuming are vibrant. Love it!
positive · AI labelView post →Is anyone else hooked on Korean series (Netflix)? Loved Gyeongseong Creature -- big-screen 1945 Korea with monsters. Now Alchemy of Souls. The camera loves these actors. Character-driven, emotionally engaging, presses all my horror/SF/weird science/fantasy buttons. (Credit Screenrant)
positive · AI labelView post →Alchemy of Souls on Netflix. A mix of Kung Fu Theater, a comedy, a love story, and a horror all rolled into one great story. It ran two seasons and each episode is over an hour long. 10/10

neutral · AI labelView post →Alchemy of Souls is so good!!! The worldbuilding the characters!! Obsessed with this show! I actually couldn't sleep one night cause I was thinking HOW they would fix it between s1 and 2. I never would've guessed how but it was actually really good! Wish s2 had more episodes though!! S3 now!!!
positive · AI labelView post →I totally get that... the show is far darker than I expected. Lee Jae Wook is so good... makes me want to rewatch Alchemy of Souls again!
positive · AI labelView post →1/2 I'm reading through Alchemy of Souls by @thomaskcarpenter.bsky.social, which is book 3 in the Hundred Halls series. I'm pretty happy with it because he avoided an obnoxious trope I see way too often. The protagonist is tricked into doing something terrible and no one believes her, #booksky

The 2nd part feels very different. Our lead has gone through some stuff & he is a changed man. It is much darker, which is appropriate considering that our lead is in a dark place now. Many people complained about the change in the FL, but if you watch carefully, it makes complete sense. Although you may wonder how you could be…
positive · AI labelView post →I am watching Alchemy of Souls for the third time. www.netflix.com/title/81517188 This fantastic show about magicians in mythical land of Daeho is my top favorite show of all time of every show I have ever seen in 50 years since I was a little kid.
positive · AI labelView post →Spouse and I often have a #kdrama we watch together, but if we watch even one episode a week, we are lucky. This does not work well with my binging tendencies, and I learned the hard way (with "Descendents of the Sun") that we have to watch one I've seen already, otherwise it is torture for me. I thought I'd be safe with suggesting #AlchemyOfSouls for our new watch. I've seen it, and it was recent-ish enough that I shouldn't get the binge bug, right? Right?! finishes episode 2 Dammit. neutral · AI labelView post →Zhang Ling He's character in the #cdrama #ThePrincessRoyal reminds me so much of Lee Jae Wook's character in the #kdrama #AlchemyOfSouls I somehow binged a dozen episodes of TPR already this weekend? Bickering almost-divorced couple meet untimely deaths only to awaken as their not-yet-engaged 20-years-younger selves? Poking at each other's known sore spots all the time and also appreciating each other's quiet capabilities... I am liking it so far!
neutral · AI labelView post →I finished #AlchemyOfSouls, and it’s absolutely fantastic! I loved every single episode for the great mix of fantasy, magic, romance, and suspense. Locations, interiors, dresses, and scene objects are also finely made, making the whole story fascinating and beautiful. Special effects are also stunning! Along with Hotel Del Luna, Alchemy of Souls is my favorite “fantasy” #Kdrama. All lovers of #Kdramas should watch it. The only exception is if you really hate fantasy and/or magic and/or combat.
positive · AI labelView post →I’ve finished the first part of #AlchemyOfSouls! Episode 20 was undoubtedly dramatic, shocking, and also surprising (especially for the last scene). So, yesterday I started watching the second part because I was so curious and excited. In part 2, the story/context has changed quite a bit, and many characters have changed their behavior and appearance as well (dress, hair, etc.). Fortunately, there is still the character of the Maidservant Kim Do-Joo! 🥰 #Kdrama
positive · AI labelView post →Only stuff that wasn't adapting a pre-established finale: Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, both Avatar and Korra, Alchemy of Souls, both season of Andor, the original Fullmetal Alchemist show which made its own ending, unironically Lost.
neutral · AI labelView post →Since I've caught up on Pro Bono and have to wait for the new episodes (the next one is tomorrow), I decided to start a new #Kdrama. So, yesterday I watched the first episode of #AlchemyOfSouls. And .... whoooaaaaaaa!!! It's super fascinating, mysterious, engaging, and full of action and magic!! 😎 I noticed it's rather long, with 2 parts totaling 20+10 episodes. I think it will keep me good company for the whole month (probably more, alternating Pro Bono and then Can This Love Be Translated?).
positive · AI labelView post →and with that, Alchemy of Souls S2 is complete this series, both S1 & S2, were incredible i loved the characters, and was glad for the happy ending i know this is a series i will be re-watching on that note, i gave it a 10/10 next on my list is Checkmate 🕵️

After I finished it, I immediately watched it again. The creators of that show are the Hong Sisters, and some of their work was hard
positive · AI labelView post →Day 2: Favourite actress discovered in 2025. Jung So-Min for Alchemy of Souls. Been disappointed by roles I’ve seen her in since but I can’t overstate the impact that show and her role in it had: technically it wasn’t my first drama but it’s what started all of… *gesticulates vaguely at TL*.

But I loved Alchemy of Souls, had me believing in love again. I’m too nervous to watch the fight, cause if Mike loses it’s rigged and imma cuss everybody. 😂

neutral · AI labelView post →A while back Bethany and I started watching a Korean show on Netflix called Alchemy of Souls, and we are hooked! We were drawn in during the first episode. It has everything--action, comedy, drama, romance--and has beautiful cinematography along with incredible acting. I recommend giving it a try!
positive · AI labelView post →I am enjoying the #cdrama #TheDouble even though it heavily employs something I hate: 30 year olds playing teenagers. (I just have to get over this, I know!) Anyway, I was thinking about who the actors should be if it were ever redone as a #kdrama... I think the characters are similar to some in #MyDearest and #AlchemyOfSouls... Duke Su: Namkoong Min! Ye Shijie: Kim Do-hoon Shen Yurong: Kim Soo-Hyun Jiang Jingrui: Choi Hyun-wook! Zhou Yanbang: Choo Young-woo
