60 of 65 · most liked firstA controversial hot take on a 1982 movie; it's not got the same talent behind or in front of the camera, but Airplane II: The Sequel deserves praise. Lloyd Bridges and William Shatner slay in this parody; surely there's some other fans of this out there? 4 out of 5 film-authority.com/2026/08/16/a...
unlabelledView post →After wondering ever since I saw the film in the theater as a 9-y/o in 1982, I have finally figured out that the unfamiliar-looking Enterprise flyby in AIRPLANE II: THE SEQUEL is from "Operation -- Annihilate!", and that specific footage (including the starfield) was only used in that episode.

Kids would gather at his house at least once a week and watch. 20 years later, I first flew to Los Angeles and heard “no stopping in the white zone…”
unlabelledView post →Watching the AIRPLANE II deleted scenes found on YouTube and discovered that Rip Torn, already in the movie playing another role, appears as Reagan in one. This seems important.
unlabelledView post →I would have loved a crossover with Star Trek and the Airplane movies .... I know they did a space shuttle flight to the moon in Airplane II (as well as a cameo with William Shatner) but it would have been great to have had the casts from both the Airplane movie and the cast of Star Trek ... it would have been completely stupid and idiotic but I would have loved it

unlabelledView post →You likely have it already, but it did show up in the movie Airplane II, from 1982.
unlabelledView post →Airplane II is a lesser Zucker bros movie but that means it's still pretty funny

unlabelledView post →Airplane II: The Sequel is like when they took all the outtakes from Anchorman and released it with the DVD as a bonus movie called Wake Up, Ron Burgundy. It’s basically the same and you wonder why they bothered.

unlabelledView post →I've seen a lot of people mistake it for a parody of Airport, which...I think there's a reference or two in there but Airplane! is a parody of airline disaster thrillers in general and Zero Hour specifically. The sick kid and the stewardess singing with the guitar is actually a reference to Airport 1975. Airplane! II, The Sequel *is* a parody of Airport, with the whole bomb in the suitcase plot.
unlabelledView post →Airplane II. A comedy that is mocking more serious movies like Airport 77. It's an "intended to be ridiculous" type of movie, maybe I'd say, "slapstick comedy", and I really enjoy that genre. Here's the scene: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MabL...

After all, if we got Clue, Airplane II and Santa Claus: the Movie up there….

Airplane II: The Sequel (1982), directed by Ken Finkelman, first time viewing This movie is at its best when it develops its own material and silly jokes (the bit with Ted Striker and the newspaper got a good laugh from me) and at its worst when it rehashes jokes from the first movie but worse

unlabelledView post →Watching Airplane II. There was a joke showing a priest enjoying a centerfold of Alter Boy magazine. The movie was released in 1982. People knew about pedophilia in the church for decades and little was ever done about it. Don’t expect anything to happen to rich people & politicians.

I have been quoting Johnny from Airplane and his short monologue about the Earth forming only to suddenly realize that the scene in question took place in Airplane II: The Sequel.
