19 of 19 · most liked firstWatching The Medallion for the first time in my sickbed bc to this day it tickles me that a movie about Jackie Chan... Playing a guy who works with secret agents... Chasing Julian Sands... Who is a black market smuggler... Who wants a supernatural trinket that gives you powers... IS NOT A JCA MOVIE

My friend from high school and I went to see it when home from college because we liked the first one. The rest of the audience were unsupervised <13 kids. Terrible movie; A+ theatrical experience.

I think about how this movie feels like a Jackie Chan movie and yet it isn't and instead Jackie Chan did The Medallion instead.

unlabelledView post →The Medallion is a fun, lighthearted action-comedy that’s perfect for a casual movie night with family or friends and a few beers. Jackie Chan’s signature charm and incredible stunt work shine, bringing energy and humor to the screen. The mix of mystical elements and classic action sequences keeps it entertaining, even if the story isn’t particularly deep or groundbreaking. Sure, some jokes fall flat, and the plot can feel a bit thin at times, but it’s the kind of movie you watch to relax and…

unlabelledView post →Also on the way from 88 Films, a couple of Jackie Chan releases. They may persuade me on the re-release of The Big Brawl, depending on the new restoration, but The Medallion is a hard pass for me. Jackie's very worst film, IMO.
unlabelledView post →To be fair, Hidden Strike isn't Jackie's worst film, but that's only because The Medallion and The Iron Mask exist. Yep, this one's less impressive than Fantasy Mission Force; a film he only did as a favour to Jimmy Wang Yu.
unlabelledView post →This action-fantasy-comedy has bad dialogue and a half-baked and uneven plot where even some Chan's martial arts/stuntwork isn't nearly enough to save it, and besides, half of the movie uses some shoddy special effects so his stunts aren't nearly as impressive. On the plus side, the movie is a reminder on Claire Forlani's beauty (acting was only so-so at best). The Medallion has so many hallmarks of the early 2000s style of filmmaking with the choppy editing and lame humor. 1.75/5
