I bought this on a sale, and it is still not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable on Rift, Rift S, Quest, Quest 2, and Index (basically every headset I ever owned) due to incorrect controller mapping, and no override possible that I could find.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bored. That's my best review of this game. I never realised how easy it was to make a space disaster so utterly... boring. This game is a textbook example of 5-star graphics, 5-star sound, but 1-star execution. And from reading the boards, they KNEW what the main gripes were and yet consciously decided not to fix them, resulting in a 3-star rating on most sites. Inexplicable! The issues are just numerous: Your speed is locked to an absolute snail's pace, you spend HOURS literally…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Drifting away from sanity TL;DR : This game is not worth full price, maybe on sale but my experience was that it was slow, uninteresting and broken at times. Actually stopped playing because I soft locked myself. Context : Adrift is a walking, or more precisely an EVA simulator where you wake up in a destroyed space station and with alerts blaring, you need to repair the station to make it operational while your suit is damaged. Even if it sounds good it start to fall apart very quickly...…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adr1ft is built on the premise of being stranded on the wreckage of a space station in the aftermath of a catastrophic event. While this is an interesting concept, the experience is let down by the game-play. Visually the game works well, the space stations debris looks convincing with particle and lighting effects that give an authentic feel to the destruction. As you orbit the Earth the day and night cycles give variety to the lighting and add to the immersion. The game is let down however…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hell nah. The game looks and sounds awesome and seems like a lot of fun but that quicly changes. Your oxygen continuously depletes (which makes sense because you, well, breathe) but your thrusters also require oxigen. So you are contantly on the lookout for oxygen cans (it feels like most of the gameplay is looking for oxygen actually). The movement is also excruciatingly slow, the physics are off (you sometimes drift into random directions, stuff floats away from you randomly). You are also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Control scheme aged like milk. You got strong VR legs? This game tells you to hold it’s oxygen tank. Who thought locking your view in VR to the dumb oxygen tank was a good idea? Yes, this annoying, vomit inducing oxygen tank that you do not need? Oh, now this other one, turning you in another direction. And yet another. And one more.. after you stabilized from this nausea inducing experience, you realize that Now you have to use oxygen tank. So you turn around and.. The space station design…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nothing but a glorified VR tech demo that moves at an excruciatingly sluggish pace and suffers from a constant sense of not knowing where to go or what to do exactly most of the time as well as the story having absolutely no agency because of the stressful oxygen-hunting mechanic which constantly undermines the game's ability to tell any kind of a compelling narrative. The movement speed is so slow I actually felt sick after some time playing because it always felt like I was crawling towards…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going through my backlog of games alphabetically, and Adrift looks so good that I gave it a try. I played for over an hour but can't recommend it. The game has a bit of a story that is interesting, but it wasn't enough to keep me playing as the game could be renamed EVA Simulator. It is a very pretty game, but pretty much all you do, for the first hour at least, is float around very slowly, desperately looking for another oxygen canister. Sometimes you interact with a computer, or a door,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(NON-VR REVIEW) This is a game I wanted to really like, and I didn't dislike it. It just didn't grip me. Be very clear this is basically a walking sim - mostly at a very slow pace at that - with a bit of survival mixed in for peril. I suppose that's realistic for the backstory which is that you are a stranded astronaut following the destruction of your space station. Graphically, it is very good to look at although the UIs are a bit confusing at times. Gameplay wise you'll be trying to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not enjoy this game. Took me 3 hours to beat the non VR version. It's basically a walking simulator in space, and a VERY slow one at that. It's very boring, and is basically a 45 minutes slice of the game copy pasted 4 times. There are no puzzles, its just 4 fetch quests with minimal to no variation. It is also quite easy to get lost because the waypoint system and radar are badly implemented, by that I mean the radar is not a proper 3D radar like you would expect in a 6DOF game, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tedious tedious tedious. It's very slow moving, which is okay since that's the nature of the game. But instead of being able to explore, you have to constantly try to creep towards more oxygen or you suffocate and then get set back, sometimes far, where you have to painfully and slowly trudge forward again. Could have been enjoyable, and it's a decent idea, but the execution is awful and miserable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This can be a fun game, but it can be frustrating. I wound up uninstalling it. You have to constantly look for oxygen or you die. It's annoying. You're in a space suite and the stupid thing burns through oxygen i guess. I get in the beginning when the suite is damaged so you're loosing air, you need to replace it. However, even after you get the suite fixed, you're burning through your oxygen. You can't really explore well because you need to keep looking for oxygen. The graphics are very nice.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →may be good game for desktop but really bad at being VR game you can't move with your body irl, all the movemets and rotation made by buttons even your controllers is not your hands ingame. vr adds nothing to this game other than motion sickness
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a hard pass for me. Sound design, atmosphere, overall design, A+. HUD, and general directions, minus a million. It was fun for about 30 seconds, but the constant feeling of failure and running out of o2 put me off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty boring, all you do is just wander in between boring broken space station parts.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty much the best space game I've ever played. It has it all. Stunning graphics, great gameplay, heck, it even has VR support! Now THIS is a game worth buying. Every last penny was worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a great game; theoretically. The story and premise are great, but oh my god, are the controlled ♥♥♥♥♥♥. a) if you get close to O2, the view will somewhat be locked onto it; which sounds great at first, but mostly it means, that the game will pull you of your vector of movement and you'll have to reorient yourself. And in a game, where movement uses O2, meaning gets you closer to dying, that's a bad ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea. b) most importantly: your alter ego only grabs stuff half the time. No,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is good, I played it with a monitor and keyboard before and liked it. But now I have a Quest 2 and although the game is advertised as a VR supported title, it is not playable that way. Everything works except the "Use" button, which is not mapped anywhere on the Quest 2 controller, so you basically can't do anything. You can play it with a headset and keyboard, but that's ridiculous.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FOV setting not working properly since it doesn't scale with the helmets size, effectively making the game unplayable at anything else than base fov. also no 21:9 support.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually, this game is beautiful but as a game... it's pretty boring, simple and repetitive. It's worth checking out but you're not missing much if you skip it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As an avid lover of Astronomy and Space Exploration, I never would have thought anything would turn me off to those two like this game does. ADR1FT has a terrible lack of control for the character, as if they intended for the movement to be the actual hardest puzzle in the game types of difficulty. Controller, VR, Keyboard, none of the options help control this behemoth of a character any better, and it takes away entirely from the experience of being helpless and floating off into space with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has all the ingredients to be a fantastic experience and yet it destroys it with a debilitating "handicap" which instead turns it into an utterly boring and repetitive "oxygen-bottle-hunt" game. Instead of being able to take in the majesty of floating in space and exploring the tragic beauty and scale of a destroyed space station, one's focus and "purpose" is forced to the next few metres and the next oxygen bottle. I've tried getting into this game several times over the past few…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you know those dreams where you feel like you are trying to run but you are making no progress or going painfully slow? that's how this game feels
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One more game I remember seeing gameplay in early development, before I ever knew I would be able to afford VR. Unfortunately, this does not live up to any of my expectations. The graphics are cool and all, but the gameplay is very repetitive and oddly hard. Not in a challenging kind of way, but more frustrating. You are essentially floating around trying to catch your next dose of oxygen, rendering it almost impossible to follow the story.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, very relaxing and enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game does not support Quest 2 and possibly other mainstream controls. If not for a broken VR version controls and support the game could have been an average space joy ride, however as a regular game it is so much bellow average in every respect. One repetative and same boring task in basically same and disinteresting environment. Disappointing experience.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Adr1ft is a first-person survival Sci-Fi game in open space. Actually, I think it's the first one that is using this approach with realistic physics for an astronaut by himself in zero gravity. The plot is summarised quickly: you’re a survivor of a catastrophic event on a space station orbiting earth and need to find your way back to the planet’s surface. With most of the systems damaged or offline, you’ll check the ones which might be of help for your emergency escape. Actually, the story will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have a Valve VR rig - I do NOT recommend this game as that's what I have. The controls are not set up for the different control layout and it is very not intuitive on how it works. I can't even get through what is supposed to be the tutorial section because of how the controls are laid out. If you've got the system that uses the right controls, I'm sure it's a blast, but I can't speak to that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EDIT : I see the retail price on Steam is 20 EUR. This is ridiculous. Therefor I change my vote to not recommended. Definitely not worth that! For actual game play I will vote a "no ", but specially for a ( first )VR experience of floating in space I can recommend it. I have to mention that the game made me feel sick. I retried this experience once I got more used to VR (Valve Index) , but still got very sick very quick. I would not pay much for m this experience. < 3 eur .…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is absolutely no fun in playing the space exploration game where you have virtually each minute break for searching and grabbing oxigen balloon or otherwise you die.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, this game doesn't allow any remapping of the keys AND the spacebar (which is for going upwards) simply doesn't work. You can still do the same thing by pressing the left mouse button, but guess what? The tutorial doesn't tell you that. It simply tells you to press spacebar to go up, then waits for you to do it. And you can't. Alas, this is an accurate first impression of what's to come in this game. This is a survival game where it isn't clear what you can interact with, where…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game based on piloting an EVA to find oxygen canisters, it is very tedious and awkward to move. Drifting to save oxygen is painfully slow and you take damage hitting any surface at any speed. My biggest complaint, and why I'm not going to try finishing the game, is that there is no option the edit the controls. Like many people have pointed out, this is more of an "experience" than game and I can see how it might be fun in VR, but certainly not for $20 on PC.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is basically unplayable with Valve Index controllers at the moment - even remapping doesn't help.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ADR1FT is an atmospheric first-person sci-fi adventure that does a great job of immersing you in the loneliness/isolation of space. The realistic zero-gravity movement, impressive visuals, and oppressive atmosphere make for a memorable experience, especially if you enjoy slower-paced exploration. The gameplay is fairly simple, and constantly having to look for oxygen can become repetitive and even frustrating at times. The zero-gravity movement can also be pretty disorienting, and there were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good walking simulator for space. Very pretty, just don't go in expecting crazy action or you will be disappointed. If you are feeling unsure then wait for a sale. If you are a space junkie like me tho you will probably love it despite the flaws it has. Hope this review helps!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 On the surface this game is impressive how ever that game was somewhat disappointing and in the end left me frustrated. - graphics great -controls are fine (don't own VR) - game lacks variety the game felt copy pasted - the player feels like he is made of glass. you cannot even land on the floor on your feet without taking damage. -clever map design both vertical and horizontal (if you get stuck, look up) -music good. I like Chopin. -story is okay -times you are wondering around trying…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(My actual playtime for this game is 14.4 hours through family share) This "game" feels like a tech demo that is riddled with bugs that ruin whatever challenge the player may find within the game. The tech demo part is the somewhat unique movement (for its time). For any players who might resort to the achievements for a challenge there are multiple bugs causing 2 of the achievements (as I experienced) to not unlock, getting them to unlock is extremely tedious, it can be done without cheats…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the most part, I enjoyed this game. I would recommend getting it on a pretty steep discount; as other reviewers have said, it's pretty repetitive and actually quite short. I don't have a VR kit so I just played with a controller, and the controls are pretty responsive though it's extremely difficult to determine where your hit box actually ends. Maybe this wouldn't have been as much of an issue if I were playing in VR, but often I would run into things that were off screen, and though…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Valve Index Implementation is bad. I give a good review because it looks like a decent game which - with the right hardware - is probably awesome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Middle of the road review. I've gone with recommend, as it's not BAD, just lacking. Adr1ft is quite an visually appealing game. You play as a lone survivor of a space station disaster, floating amongst the zero-g wreckage, completing tasks and refilling your dwindling oxygen, until you're able to evacuate back to Earth. Positives: *Great visuals *Believable physics *How I'd imagine movement in an EVA suit would be (despite complaints of it's difficulty) *Audio Logs Disappointments: *It felt…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks "Okay", that's all the good that can be said about it. The controls are horrible. And they're not horrible in the "OMG, I'm in zero-g, so I don't know what to do because I'm a dirt peasant and navigation in 3D makes my mind mush" sense. I have close to 100 hours in Kerbal Space Program, I know how orbital mechanics work, how inertia works. I've flow plenty EVAs, transferring Kerbals between ships hundreds of meters apart in orbit. Adr1ft has the worst possible combination of arcade…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →has oculus support but the controllers dont work properly. you need to use a joystick or blindly smash your keyboard. still interesting. if I could give a neutral review I would
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The premise of ADR1FT is, that you wake up in a space suit in earth's orbit with the space station that you were working on, almost completely destroyed around you. You don't know what happened, but you have to try to get back to earth safely. Of course, that's not all about the story of this game, since there are some intruiging things getting revealed over the course of the playthrough. As in most cases, there's more to find out and some of it is quite surprising... Wow, am I torn about this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is listed as supporting Oculus Rift and Motion controls, however it does not. With the Oculus Rift, it only supports the gamepad, despite what is listed in the Steam listing. From their support: "Adr1ft only supports physical controls and not motion controls, my apologies for the inconvenience. " It otherwise looks like an intriguing game, but I was interested in the true VR experience, so I cannot recommend it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried so hard to get into this game... While it looks great and maybe more so would be better in VR, it just has a terrible play through. Essentially you pick some stuff up, slowly run out of oxygen while you move to a different part of the broken space station, rinse, repeat, I attempted over 5 or 6 sessions to try and play it through and complete it, but it's honestly just boring. If float simulator is your style, you have VR and just want to chill to floating around looking at parts of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not work with Index controllers. The VR capabilities of this game are already limited but it doesn't seem like the devs even care if it remains functional. For some baffling reason the game considers the left controller the right and vice versa, which makes the tutorial very confusing. Even after you get used to this (or manually switch the controls in steam's built in controller editor), the stick that rotates your character doubles as the re-center camera view button. So every time…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In theory this is quite a cool concept, but the reality is that your character does not have hands except to grab things and interact with controls. You don't have feet either. As astronauts/cosmonauts will say, spacewalking/EVA is all about the hands and feet. Since much of the time is spent inside modules you should really be able to use your limbs to move around and steady yourself, which seems to go against their 'use your life support resource to move you around' mechanic. Then your helmet…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine if you found walking simulators too exciting. The perfect solution would be to remove the walking and replace it with insanely slow floating. Oh, and add a spacesuit that needs oxygen every 30 seconds so that you can spend your time slowly floating at slowly floating bottles. Even the voice actors sounded like they were about to fall asleep.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thought I'd give it ago on the Steam Frame. While it launched natively the framerate is terrible. The biggest issue however seems to be that it only supports Vive controllers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Your in space, and everything's gone wrong. Control is a little disorienting at first- up to a limit, you really do have to watch your momentum all the time, or else you'll crack your own helmet. Thankfully, the environs don't obey Newtonian physics- there's "trails" of debris to follow to the various sights and 'collectibles', as it were. Like any post-disaster 'walking' simulator, the draw is in uncovering the story leading up to the disaster. Just don't forget to top your tanks every…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although its hard to know where your going and at first understand the story i think Adtift is a unique Game that i had fun with the physic and all i recommand on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what they were thinking with this one. It's the most boring game I've ever played in my life. It's basically a walking simulator, or more like an astronaut sim or space sim, or sleepwalking sim. It's so bad. In any other game, the distance you can walk in 5 seconds will take over a minute in this game. Okay, great, you want it to feel like you're in space. The problem is, no one ever said, man I wish slowly floating was my main means of movement. It's not even a nice atmosphere…
