A Walk Among The Tombstones is a favourite and was made into a terrific movie with Liam Neeson as ex cop, ex alcoholic PI Matt Scudder.

unlabelledView post →An okay movie but an absolute disaster of an adaptation of Lawrence Block’s novel. A pretty decent Matt Scudder movie is A Walk Among the Tombstones with Liam Neeson - and Dan Stevens and David Harbour.
unlabelledView post →NOW PLAYING: A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014). The novels are some of the greatest PI books of all time. I want so badly to love this movie, but I’ve been disappointed so often in the past.

unlabelledView post →Finally, while this is out of order, I've saved the best for last with A Walk Among the Tombstones, unironically one of my favorite movies. Here, Liam Neeson is an ex-cop turned unlicensed private eye that's hired to hunt down two of the most f*cked up serial killers I've ever seen in a film.

Similar to "Cold Pursiot", "A Walk Among the Tombstones" & other mislabeled "action" movies, Neeson proves he's not just Bryan Mills these days.

Last one before that was seeing A Walk Among The Tombstones for my birthday in 2014. That movie made me feel like I've seen it before.
unlabelledView post →The Night and the Music, Lawrence Block [Telemachus Press, 2011]. A collection of stories featuring former NYPD cop-turned-unlicensed-private-eye Matt Scudder, the series character from numerous Block novels, including A Walk Among the Tombstones, adapted as a film with Liam Neeson. #LawrenceBlock
unlabelledView post →I genuinely wish smaller movie series could be successful, if only so we could see a whole series of Liam Neeson playing Matthew Scudder. A Walk Among the Tombstones is fantastic, and I wish there were more like it.
unlabelledView post →This movie had quite some premise and it is a decent enough movie but, sadly, it never really rises out of the ordinary. We have some really despicable criminals and I mean some real creepy nutcases and we have Liam Neeson as a gritty former cop turned private investigator. Good recipe to start with I would say. Unfortunately it never really took off. Liam Neeson is doing a good job of portraying the former cop and he is pretty much making the picture. The creepy guys are, well creepy but they…
neutral · AI labelView post →Though I haven't watched a lot of them yet (I've mainly devoted my time, of late, to catching up on 1920-1970s cinematic milestones), I have a profound respect for the new roles Liam Neeson has taken on in recent years. It makes me think of what would have been had my favourite actor ever, James Cagney, hadn't basically retired for the quiet life in the early 60's, when the perfect storm of 'great actors in B-movies' hit the fans. My lady is more a horror aficionado, and of recent vintage…
